Coat and bag check upon arrival so you're free to just relax and enjoy yourself as if you were in a friend's loft for a night cap. Costes is sexy and sultry, it feels like a little rendez-vous and will totally be my new go to. I find myself appreciating a nice cocktail after leaving Rue Cambon, helps soften the blow my amex takes. Part of me hates to say how much I recommend because I don't want to see this turn into the previously mentioned spot but this isn't new news to most, I'm just a creature of habit and hadn't been in before. It certainly depends what you are coming for. The vibe and decor is sultry, sexy, upscale, chic. You can see immediately why they are frequented by celebrities and socialites. If you just want to see and be seen it's a great place for that, just be prepared for the prices to shock you. My group got a round of drinks which were delicious but about $25USD each after all was said and done. Service in the restaurant was typical as in nonchalant and to the point, the coat check attendants were extra snobby, even for Paris. read more

A very nice surprise find in Champs Elysees. After a long day of shopping, we were famished and wanted to find something closed by to eat. We didn't have anything booked in advance, so we just googled around. So lucky we found hotel Costes and they were able to sit us right away! Atmosphere: it is pretty elegant and high end. This hotel probably have the best bathrooms I've been to in France. Service: we had the young waiter and he was friendly. Although we had to flag him down a few times. Be sure to tip here as it is expected in this restaurant (not everywhere in Paris) Food: everything we got was delicious. I loved the Tom yum Seabass. It was cooked perfectly. Escargot was great as well. Overall, I highly recommend you come check it out when you are in Champs Elysees. I will be back next time I'm in Paris! read more

After decades of admiring the music and whole vibe of Costes, I treated myself to a few nights at the hotel when we were in Paris. The entire place is a labyrinth of beauty, and after 5 days I still kept discovering new little secret places. Every detail is a work of art, down to every door handle and the psychedelic walk to the washrooms. We wound up having a long friendly conversation with one of the cocktail servers who grew up in Paris, and she had lovely things to say about working there which meant a lot to me. The only reason to not like Hotel Costes, is to not appreciate exactly what Hotel Costes is. This is not the Hyatt or the Marriott, it's hip artsy Paris high fashion vibes from the music to the aromas, and it will not disappoint. I've come several times as a non-guest and still have had a great time, and have never been treated rudely, even when we looked absolutely shabby and just wanted a cocktail. I will absolutely be back and continue to book a room here, there is no place quite like it and the music alone is reason enough to almost never leave. read more

Hotel costes is a TERRIBLE hotel with expensive and tiny rooms -- AVOID STAYING HERE!!! I was suppose to stay here for 6 nights but upon checking in I found out the room /hotel had a STRONG incense smell. I could not breathe and could not fathom even staying the night but since they charged my credit card upfront for all six nights ( RED FLAG) , i was told by their manager on duty ( very unhelpful and discourteous male) that evening that I should stay the night and hope for a refund of the other 5 nights the next day. Yes, BEWARE unlike most other hotels they take payment upfront! I didn't sleep all night and had to open the window to breathe despite the 50 degrees Fahrenheit cold. I made it my priority the next day to speak to the management and they said they would refund me for the 5 nights. I honestly felt like something was sketchy about their mannerism ( and the fact that they took all 6 nights upfront when I checked into the hotel which is something I've never experienced at many other hotels worldwide). As such I insisted on having all the receipts and documentation. A week later and the refund still did not show up on my credit card so I emailed the hotel and spoke with Michael who kept reassuring me the refund has been processed. Fast forward UT HAS BEEN 2 WEEKS AND THE REFUND STILL HAS NOT SHOWN UP ON MY CARD!!!! The hotel management keeps giving me the same answer everytime I email them. These people keep saying they've refunded me but the money still isn't back on my credit card. There is something really sketchy going on here as refunds do not usually take this long to show up on credit cards. I really think that they have been deceptive and dishonest with the situation. I have asked them for documentation on their side showing that the refund has been processed but they have not provided this. I have NEVER had a refund taken as long as it has and this entire experience has compounded in how exceptionally awful Hôtel costes is. Additionally, the room was incredibly small. I had one full size suitcase which could not fit in the room. Their room was also really dimly lit and I, a female with 20/20 vision, could not see properly even with all the lights on. The room was stuffy and had no air circulation. In fact I had to call the hotel mechanic at 3am to troubleshoot the issue as I literally could not breathe. Even he could not properly navigate around the room due to how dimly lit it was. The hotel was not the 5 star luxurious hotel it advertised to be. I left this hotel and went to another one close by. I'm still waiting for my $3200 usd from them and cannot believe what an atrocious experience this has been. I will be sharing my terrible experience with everyone of my friends, family and all of social media so that nobody has to experience the horrible time that I've had with hotel costes. read more

Superb dining experience at the restaurant! It's around the corner from the hotel entrance, just fyi ;) We sat in the courtyard and it was a perfect evening. The restaurant itself is exquisite and very romantic with a central seating area and smaller seating areas inside, as well. We tried the beef carpaccio, pastrami (ask for it with melon), and the burgundy snails. The escargots were huge and perfectly seasoned with garlic and butter! Also, the carpaccio was wonderful and topped with mustard. For my main, I ordered the petit filet with pommes purées (mashed potatoes) and it was wonderful. My husband ordered the langosteen and was very happy. For dessert, we had the French toast with a side of the vanilla ice cream, espresso martini, and the montblanc. Visited with work peeps while on a trip to the City of Light and was totally blown away with the food and atmosphere here. First of all, this place is super sexy in the evening. Think dark, red, cozy with lots of sumptuous fabrics and decor. Since we were all feeling a bit jet lagged (we'd just arrived from our flights earlier that day) we all ordered an espresso martini to start which was so so good and gave me a second wind. For the table, we choose an awesome bottle of speaking rosé (something with the word salmon in the name). To share at our table we tried the escargot, fois gras, burrata, and ceviche. Each dish (although I didnt try the fois, my dining partners said it was incredible) was so delicous. The escargot were cooked perfectly and filled to the brim with a decadent garlic butter. The ceviche, full of tender fish and shellfish had a nice heat and yummy citrus tang to it. The burrata was amazing, so tender and creamy, paired with yummy grilled eggplant. For my main, I opted for the Tom Yum sea bass and it was absolutely epic. The fish was cooked perfectly and the spicy coconut sauce was oh so delicious. I wish I could have licked the bowl clean - it was that good. My dining partners opted for steak tartar and le tigre (sliced steak) and all said they loved their meals. To finish, we each selected a dessert from the menu and everything was so so good. I chose the molten lava cake which was heavenly. Probably the worst food I've had in Paris. We ordered the rigatoni and I like al dente but the pasta was so undercooked it got stuck in my teeth like glue, the potato purée was ice cold, the salad was a bowl of lettuce with lemon juice, the curry was extremely liquidy with no taste, the mozzarella was sour, omelet cold, the French fries were stale. I'll start with this. Hotel Costes is a BEAUTIFUL hotel and has an amazing atmosphere. I may come off as Karen but we had a brutal exchange with someone on staff. We entered the bar, not restaurant, and approached the bartender because there was no host/hostess. We asked for a drink and were politely told that we needed to order drinks from a server. We found an open table, sat and then were approached by a butler. Through a LinkedIn search, I believe it was Kevin D. He asked "who told you that you could sit here?" I replied " Nobody, we just saw an open table and nobody was at the front. Is that okay?" And then he very passive aggressively said, "well here in France...we wait to be seated, we don't just sit where we want" I was flustered by how quickly he got hostile because there was no host/hostess when we walked in and it was nothing more than a miscommunication. I said, "oh I'm sorry, may we put our name in or sit at another table?" And he said "that's impossible, if you may, please leave the bar". There were plenty of tables open without "reservation" cards so I was confused but obviously, we weren't welcome, and we quickly headed out. I know this review is probably not in-line with the typical experience for those who visit this hotel. It could have been an especially busy moment for Kevin. And I know that this will be dismissed by management as a "he-said, she-said" situation but I needed to share my experience. So Kevin, if you're reading this, does your job as butler include serving as host/hostess? Because if that role falls under your jurisdiction, you are not very good at your job. All I hope is that this doesn't happen again to visitors/guests because Kevin wasn't present to greet/set expectations with them immediately. read more

Ok this review is for practical people. I don't mind paying money for great food but 68 euros for the spicy lobster pasta and 10 euros for a bottle of Evian water is a little obscene! The pasta was very good though. Sauce was amazing if you like red sauce. There was only three pieces of lobster in my dish though. Does that warrant the price? The staff are all model looking people and the courtyard is very cute. It's definitely a "to be seen" place. I'm a New Yorker and while I get the importance of ambiance...this place was a little bit too overpriced. And yes I can afford it but still felt it was overpriced. So come if you want to see what the fuss is about. The hotel is beautiful and chic and fashion fancy. I came for lunch on a Monday with no rsvp and was seated right away. In fact, when walking past, one will find it a challenge to even find the front door ( dark, like a speakeasy), save the doormen parked there. I swear, my Asian waif of a server was full of attitude and pomp. I felt "Le mèpris" from her eyes and body language; I didn't have the €500 handbag or shoes, or dress. I don't care The cracker cheesecake was ultra rich and gorgeous. Very creamy & the crust was buttery crunchy. Ice cream super creamy! Memorable place-- lovely and enchanting. Even the manager acted dismissive and extremely judgmental when we greeted him. I would like to mention the blatant homophobia we felt. Not from the guests or others in the restaurant, but from the staff. Paris is one of the best cities in the world for gastronomy, and to that end, I could not recommend enough for you to not visit this restaurant. THIS LOUNGE IS SLEEK, SULTRY SEX; it was made for a hot rendezvous. From 6 PM to 3 AM, the bar is open. Irresistible lounge beats fill the air, as well as sensual scents (yes, perfume is actually spritzed in corners by a staffer). Lush seating, subtly-rouged chandeliers, and a back-lit bar create a setting fitting for the Rue Saint Honore fashion district, one that must be experienced. An attractive server brought me a strong, hefty glass of Belvedere (20 €), while my associate enjoyed her "Kick Ass" martini (literally full of natural stimulants). If not for our dinner reservation, we would have stayed to people watch all night. THE DINING ROOM'S MAZE OF SALONS and candlelit rooms take swankiness to another level. There's a dining room styled after a library, and another sports elaborate mirrors, adding to the hotel's mystique. Sadly, service is spotty and the cooking isn't quite up to par. The Mandarin crispy duck (38 €) barely had enough sauce, even for haute French cuisine. The cuts of meat were decent, with fatty bits of skin, but not moist enough. Beware if you get a salad, as it might be soaked in dressing. Dining here isn't a guaranteed disaster, however: The foie gras de canard (meant for two; 30 €) is lean and flavored with sea salt, and the accompanying bread is good - more so than the table bread. This is a place to be seen for sure. I went here for a late lunch on a snowy day in Paris with my dad and we had a fantastic time. We sat on one of the side patio tables and it's France so everything is extremely tight and the seats are extremely small. My dad is a bigger guy so he was a bit uncomfortable but I was so happy! At this point, I was vegan for the Lenten season and they had a ton of options! My dad was not so you'll see some of the photos of what he ordered that are non-vegan but mostly vegetarian. He had the escargot and loved it! This is one of his favorite spots in Paris. You can smoke here the drinks are great and the vibe is super trendy. The review is purely for the bar portion of the hotel. You know, the way you imagine Paris nightlife? Elegant surroundings, well dressed people, romantic music? Ok, perhaps they dropped the ball with the music by playing Katy Perry, but everything else was just as you would expect. The classic gorgeous chandeliers, craft cocktails and many ladies of the night trying to find their next customer by the bar (it's only a 3 star hotel, so they were looking accordingly). It was packed, even on a Sunday night when most of the places in Paris were long closed. Even getting to the actual bar was a challenge with so many people. Overall, great place to come for a drink. It reminded me of the St. Regis bar in Atlanta, similar crowd and vibes, but even nicer, it's Paris after all!
