Dining at L'Oiseau Blanc was the absolute highlight of my week-long trip to Paris and easily the most impressive culinary experience of them all. The breathtaking rooftop view of the Eiffel Tower set the stage for an afternoon of pure magic. Every course was a revelation--exquisitely crafted dishes that perfectly balanced creativity, flavor, and artistry. The service is impeccable, Tristan and Anais who were warm, professional, attentive, and genuinely passionate about making every moment special for their guests. The service was beyond all expectations. As others have said they think of everything and it all runs like a well oiled machine. The view and ambiance are also incredible. The food was not as incredible as i wish it had been. There was a strong prevalence of salty and umami flavors throughout the savory dishes, rather unbalanced by other flavors, and a bit repetitive. Though some courses were innovative and none were bad, it didn't quite live up to the level of the service and setting. The desserts we had were actually bad, overthought and not delicious, all complexity and cleverness and not enough that worked. The following night at a much simpler restaurant we had much simpler desserts that were sublimely delicious. Another Michelin star restaurant! L'Oiseau Blanc was awarded 2 stars in 2023, and i can definitely see why. We came here to check out the tasting menu for lunch. It's only 98 dollars for a three course meal, which in my opinion is an absolute steal for the caliber of service and meal. i'm fairly certain they switch up the menu, depending on what's fresh and available during the season. I don't remember the dishes we ate, but everything was prepared exceptionally well. Even though it was 3 courses, the lunch was quite filling. The best part about this place are the views of the eiffel tower. I don't believe there are any bad seats inside, but obviously the closer you sit to the window, the better your views will be. I think we got really lucky and sat at the 2 person table right at the corner. I think if you come with a party of four, you'll get the corner seat, which offers spectacular views of the eiffel tower. unfortunately, when we went, it was rainy and the rain drops obscure the windows a bit, making the views not as crispy and clear. this place is located on the 6th floor of the peninsula hotel. read more

We usually like to try a Michelin star restaurant and the tasting menu when we travel and chose this one. The service was impeccable and everyone was so kind. The sommelier was knowledgeable and helped us find a bottle within our price range. we were celebrating my sister's birthday and they brought out a specialty chocolate for her which was so sweet. If it was based on service and ambiance alone, this would have been a 5 star restaurant. Our issue was with the food. Everything had The same flavor profile and was a little over inundated with truffles that by the end of the meal, we were kind of over it and felt like it was lacking variety. What a disappointment from service to holes in table clothes and sub par dishes... this was the worst dinner we had at all the restaurants we went to during our stay in paris.. I hate writing this but didnt want another person to end up like us... DISAPPOINTED. Priced as high as 3 star Michelin restaurants as a "2" when you actually feel like Blanc your eating at a high end "Bib Gourmand" I believe where it's located is why it even got to Michelin level. Its in a wonderful hotel with a great view! Is the only thing going for it... had to ask multiple times for wine Sometimes 3 courses would brought with my glass still empty before I had to say something again! I made reservations for here with the intention of having a few glasses of champagne while enjoying their beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower but I quickly found out that it is NOT that kind of place lol. We had elected to visit at 1:30pm during a week day. The restaurant itself is it a very high end and beautiful hotel. We had a little bit of trouble finding it but the staff in the lobby were very helpful in directing us to the right place. The restaurant's staff continued to be excellent throughout the meal. We did not have to wait to even take a breath, they were always there to fill up glasses or provide an additional loaf of their delicious bread. The location is gorgeous. We were here in November so did not have issues with the heat as I have read in some other reviews here but as the walls and ceiling are essentially glass, I can see how that may be a problem. Fortunately, the infrastructure allows for a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower and I would go out on a limb and say that really is the main appeal of visiting this restaurant. We, of course, started with champagne. I'm a hill billy who really can't tell much of a difference between cheap and expensive wine (if it exists) but GF is sophisticated enough to report that she thought the quality of the champagne was excellent, so there's that. I elected to start with the rose champagne and unfortunately was not particularly fond of it. I will stick with brut for the future. I actually, somehow, didn't know this was a Michelin star restaurant but it all makes sense when you open the menu and see the prices. They're crazy but less so when you take into account that they have TWO stars. I was blown away. Appetizers are 60 plus euros. Entrees upwards of 80-100. My main disappointment was the lack of vegetarian options. They have one vegetarian option in the appetizers, which I ordered, the "leek with salted crust" or something of that nature. It was pretty good but, as I mentioned earlier, my hill billy ass wasn't crazy about some of the bougie ingredients (some special Jesus's home village mushrooms or something and I'm not a fan of 'shrooms). The only other thing for me to order was the cheese plate which was well worth the 30 something euros. They straight up bring over a tray with cheeses covered in a glass lids and have a whole conversation with you about the cheeses which includes your preferences, in order to prepare a plate specifically to suit your tastes. I received all of them except for the blue, which was my choice. They serve the cheese with truffle butter which cracks me up. Cheese with a side of butter. I wasn't complaining, it was amazing. It went wonderfully with the table bread which is a round, presumably French bread with a warm and soft interior and a ASMR-Stan's ecstasy crispy crust. The crust was so crispy that our laps and the table was covered in crumbs. I tried to fit the part of a patron of this establishment and eat the bread in a classy or, at the very least normal, way but one bite and crumbs were sent flying across the table. FML. Whether this place is worth two stars is not my place to say but if you have the coin it is worth a visit for a very, VERY, bougie meal with a nice view. read more

Business dinner at L'Oiseau Blanc turned out truly great - a very representative 2 star Guide Rouge experience. Menu dégustation was focused, creative, and not "heavy." Some of the dishes were obscenely good - the smoked fish in coconut cream, the palate cleanser - see photos. Taste bombs that exploded in mouth. Sommelier was top notch - we did a Pouilly-Fuissé 2020, knocked our sox off, followed by a Chassagne-Montrachet that just slayed. Restaurant is cozy, while still featuring large panoramic windows for some views of the Eiffel tower. Worth the price if you get the lunch menu We arrived at opening time and they sat only three tables and people started trickling in at 15m intervals it seems like? Love that they staggered the reservations so each table gets plenty of attention. They gave us so many complimentary appetizers and desserts. Those alone (if you finished the complimentary bread) could fill you up. We got the 3 course lunch menu (95 euros per person). The food was really good but some of the flavors can be weird. I also got an almond milk latte that was 14 euros and it was very not worth it. I think France has a different definition of latte. I'm used espresso shots with steamed milk but it was more like coffee with a splash of milk. I asked for more milk but it didn't help. A glass of champagne was over 30 euros btw. read more

Coming from Norcal, between Napa and SF, I'm a little spoiled by Michelin restaurants. So I'll say this was a good 2 star meal. Nothing mind blowing. Service was impeccable, expect nothing less from Michelin. View was nice, I feel they could better arrange seating so everyone can enjoy the view. I think what put a slightly bad taste in my mouth was the 15euro decaf cup of coffee i thought was offered as a part of dessert. Again, I think My expectations from CA was partly to blame, as other than the meal and alcohol itself, all the little things like coffee or tea was just a nicety. Everything about this place is worth the price and star rating. They initially had no reservations available, but when I emailed them explaining I would be proposing and this would be our celebratory dinner, they made it happen in an instant. The place itself is situated in a hotel with amazing decor and architecture. Once you are taken up to the restaurant, you enjoy the ambiance even more. Our servers were attentive to the T. This restaurant is atop the Peninsula Hotel, Paris. Their 3 course lunch menu starts at $$$$. Excellent wine menu from all regions of France. Service is attentive, but can be an issue if they are at seating capacity. Fantastic rooftop views of surrounding Paris. Dress is very smart casual. Tee shirts do not fit the bill! After all, you are in the world's fashion capital. Be mindful of the weather. The restaurant is covered by a glass canopy. Do not go here it is not worth it. The ambiance is nice but nothing crazy. The service is good but our waiter was actually laughing at us when we would say simple things in French such as thank you which I thought was extremely rude in such a setting. The view is very nice with the decor but considering how horrible the food was after paying $125 per person plus $30+ drinks each, I would NEVER go back and WOULD NOT recommend. I know.. sorry I think this is way overrated. Look, great location with a great view of the Eiffel Tower. I can see how some people might even want to propose here.. but after the food, may be you should reconsider when the opportunity is more right. I didn't have issues with decor, the presentation but the taste of the food is in question. I mean, come on, 2 star Michelin and this is what you give us. I have had better from 1 star Michelin and this was costing 245 EUR per person with their Easter tasting menu. When we asked for tasting menu for one person, we get this snobbery remark, hey you should know that tasting menu is only given to the table if the whole group gets it. That is where the frustration comes from, charging us 490 EUR for the table when we could've had a slightly better experience trying something else while one person gets the tasting menu. Bottom line, expensive, not worth the 245 EUR, try another restaurant if you care at all about the food. Also, PS, the seating are really close together and we got into a small thing with the table next door. Annoying! read more

You have 48 hours to cancel your reservation without being considered a "no show" and even if you comply with this policy, don't hang up the phone until you have received a confirmation of cancellation email in your inbox! I had the pigeon at Heinz Beck's 3-Star Michelin restaurant in Rome so I know what good pigeon should tase like. This was horrible. I agree with other posts that this restaurant does not make any allowances for disagreeing with their policies (like returning food that you do not enjoy). In the end, Lucas did not charge me for the pigeon I did not eat. That was gracious of him. He is an honest and sincere young man. I do not blame him. The view of the Eiffel Tower from the restaurant is beautiful. The not good stuff: We opted to go at lunch because it was less expensive. As a result, we ended up scorching in the afternoon sun. There is no air conditioning and we were sweating through our clothes on the top floor of the building with an all- glass restaurant. Not romantic! The staff pulled the blinds shut so were weren't in direct sun, but then we lost view of the Eiffel Tower. Screwed ourselves a bit there. The food is a prefixed menu with three choices for each part of the meal, which we didn't mind. It was the flavors of the food that were truly terrible (I mean, truly bad) and the quality of preparation was poor. We are definitely foodies but are not trying to be arrogant at all. We wanted to like this place! But honestly we would have taken street food over the food here. We started with the king prawns and ravioli, both of which lacked flavor and were nothing impressive outside of their impeccable presentation. The portions are also small as traditional in fine dining but they looked lovely. For mains: My fish was undercooked and soggy... And I'm not a picky fish eater. I'm not even afraid of raw fish because I love sushi. This was straight up not cooked thoroughly and had no flavor. The relish it came with was okay but not great. Husband got the special of the day, scallops with mushrooms. He could barely finish them because he had a hard time swallowing the odd blend of seasonings. We decided not to have dessert or coffee/espresso to end our meal, which surprised our waiters. We just wanted to get out of the hot box of unsavory food and get into some cooler environments. For 178 euro, this was absolutely not worth it. :( The hostess said they only reopened a year ago (new management?) and were still experimenting with the food. Took the family here as a special meal on our trip to France. It was stifling hot as we were there for lunch. So they closed the shades to block the sun. This is not their fault, but then the view was completely lost. The food was simply not to our taste. The meat dish, beef, was to be cooked at medium. Perhaps the French consider medium to be very rare because it was so rare it couldn't be cut with a steak knife. We had to send one back but by the time it finally returned to the table, everyone else had finished eating (and by that I mean, gave up on on the meat and didn't eat it.) We asked if they could box it up because everyone else was finished and they didn't want to do that. Thus ensued an speech that went on endlessly about how if the meat went bad before the person ate it, they would be at fault. I have never run into a restaurant previously that didn't want to allow you to take home your food. Finally after reassuring them that it would be eaten before turning into dog food, they allowed us to take it. For $550 I was not going to leave it there. Needless to say, no one ever ate it anyway. One would argue that coming here for the view is something not to be missed. Well, if you are keen to see the rooftop of some old buildings then this is worth coming because that is what you will have. To be fair you would have a good view of Eiffel Tower as well. The food is another story. It is a very limited menu which few choices. 3 starters, 3 main course and 3 desserts. So if it is a group of 4 or 5 then some dishes need to be repeated. They say it is set menu so you have to choose one dish of each but that it what you would do any way! Set menus are normally 6 or 8 course at minimum. Taste is average and food is mediocre. Went to L'Oiseau with great expectations. The view is incredible - after that things went down hill. This is a very expensive restaurant which advertises itself as having two Michelin Stars. Frankly, Michelin needs to get some new critics. That said, becaue they tout themselves as one of the best restaurants in the world, and price accordingly - they must either deliver or shut their doors. We had lunch at the restaurant, E270 for lunch for 2 and two glasses of wine. I had the lamb, it was slightly tough, the chef explained they tried to support local foods and the lamb was from the coast - he touted how good it was. Lets be clear - I have eaten the best lamb in the world - you get it in the middle east, there is no comparison anywhere else in the world - if you are going to charge $100 a plate for a slice of lamb, it had better rival the best in the world - mine did not. The caviar was also sourced locally - the chef should have looked a little further. My wife had the trout, she pushed it around with her fork and left it mostly untouched, I tried it, it was inedible. Lets be clear, this would have been uneacceptable on a river cruise dinner boat, it was ridiculous in this restaurant. The service was good, even excellent, but not exceptional. As Bern Laxer explained about sevice and experience in a restaurant, if you want to charge top dollar, then it must be and experience. As I said, service was good - not an experience, the wait staff seemed not to have time to discuss their menu or the items/tasting they delivered.
