I came to Kong knowing it was more about the views and atmosphere than the food--and in that regard, it delivered. The space is beauti and definitely has the cool, upscale vibes that make it feel like a destination spot. That said, the overall experience left a bit to be desired. We rushed to make our 7:30pm reservation, only to wait until 8pm to be seated. They had us sit at the bar and encouraged us to order drinks while we waited, which felt a little off, especially since we came hungry and ready to dine--not to rack up extra charges on drinks. Service was slow, and we didn't leave until 10pm, making for a pretty long dinner for a party that was ready to eat. As for the food: it was fine, not bad but nothing mind-blowing. All the food we got were 7/10: Kong Plate, Black cod with miso, Château filet "Angus". Tip: when you're on the street, look for the doormen and head up the elevator--the entrance isn't super obvious. Glad I tried it once for the ambiance, but I probably wouldn't go back. If you're looking for a place to impress with vibes, this might do the trick. Beautiful Asian fusion restaurant with the most incredible view. KONG was walking distance from our hotel and it was a perfect girls dinner on our first night in Paris. The food was nothing special, and the quality was not worth the price. They definitely prepare the wagyu wrong even I could've cooked it in my sleep. You know the place is a red flag when the waitress ask you how would you like your wagyu cooked? Also, there was no evidence of what type of grade the Wagyu was. The place was very pretty inside. There was a glass ceiling where you could see above you, but during night it's too dark to enjoy the glass ceiling. The service was very tentative and good. Sadly, the food wasn't good don't go here. I have to say that I was very impressed by their cocktails ! My girlfriends and I tried a variety of cocktails and they were all delicious! Asian Porn Star Martini, Tokyo Spritz, Hara Kiri -- all of them were made just right! We started off with a few starters and the sea bass carpaccio was delicious! I loved the kaffir lime leaf flavors along with yuzu. We had high hopes for the main dish, but the cod was just too salty! The side of jasmine rice was appreciated after the saltiness of the fish. The veal was a disappointment as it was so difficult to cut that we asked for a steak knife but that didn't help either. This was a let down because the veal paired with the dipping sauce tasted great! I just had drinks at the bar: you pay a lot of money for a small drink honestly. Staff was extremely nice great service! But I got a Hana, very good tasted like juice! They have a huge ice cube in it so you don't get that much of a drink for 18 euros but the atmosphere is very nice. Definitely worth it if you are willing to spend some extra money. You pay for the ambiance and the view basically. Mashed potatoes were good, miso cod wasn't bad. Prawn and crab ravioli were bland, but ate it with the mashed potatoes to add saltiness. Staff was friendly and all spoke English. Be careful when you pay, they add a tip but ask for more. Asian fusion food in Paris is the best way to describe this place. It gives you another high level view of Paris. Overall the food was good. But the hostess was very rude. We rode up the elevator and no one was on the floor. We stood for a few minutes and then we saw stairs so we decided to go up the stairs. Then halfway u the stairs, hostess comes down and nearly bites our head off for not waiting downstairs. We walk with her back to the elevator, then she ask us how many and do we have a rsvp. Then she takes us back up the stairs to seat us. Then when we left after our meal, that same hostess saw us get on the elevator. But the doors where just opening and closing. My friend ask the hostess is something wrong with the elevator and her response was yes it's not working right now. We were happy to order an entree or two, or a few starters but not two of both? Found this place online and I'm so glad we did ! Benjamin was our server and he was so accommodating + helpful. We ordered a bunch of apps for the group so we got to try a lot. I recommend the rock shrimp, spicy edamame, and prawn rav. For mains we had the prawn and asparagus , steak, and lobster udon. Overall the food was delicious. It started at the hostess desk where they couldn't find my reservation and when I showed them my email they blamed the cancelation on me-- they said I didn't confirm the reservation. The manager was rude and said they could seat us but they needed the table at 9pm. We are here from America celebrating a birthday and the uber had dropped us off so we stayed. The food was small with cute portions that lacked taste. Another pretentious restaurant with nasty food. Expensive nasty food. I found a shell in my ravioli. I don't know what my drink was cause it wasn't a cosmopolitan. One of the other ladies ordered the steak medium and it came to the table well done. She sent it back but it was still on our bill. She has madhed potatoes for dinner. And they had the gall to add 20% service charge. I can't even say the view was good since we got seated in the back. So, it's my BD and I wanted to choose a restaurant with a view to celebrate with family. We have 6 people and to my surprise they tuck us in the back behind the stairs where all views are obstructed. I rather they didn't have the spot available than allowed the reservation. I couldn't leave knowing I'm charged so it was painful stayed there. So if you book make sure of the view. Food was just ok so if you want good food this is not the place. Service was ok besides everything was hella expensive. This place the scammed their guests with additional 20% and 10% tax. We came to Paris for our 39th anniversary and dined at Kong to celebrate. It was a perfect evening in every way. From the moment we were greeted at the door until we left we could not have asked for a better experience. The view from our table was spectacular. The menu was creative and refreshing. I had the Tuna steak served Japanese style and my husband had the beef filet with pepper sauce. Both entrees were delicious. My husband had the cheesecake Suzette for dessert and I had the 2000 feuilles. Amazing! Really the star of the evening was Lola. Excellent and friendly service! Food: food was good. We got the 3 course lunch menu €45 per person. For the starters, the salmon carpaccio was extremely thinly sliced but I wished the yuzu flavor was more prominent. Overall good ingredients and beautiful plating but lacked flavor. The quinoa and tuna poke also had very fresh ingredients and had a little more flavor than the salmon. For the main course, the truffle risotto was good. I recommend! The portion is a little small. The cod was delicious! Pretty salty so you need to eat it with the rice. But extremely tender and well made. The angus beef was also good. For dessert, the chocolate cake was delicious and the tapioca pudding was also so so good! The desserts were made very well. Interior: very clean and uniquely decorated. It has a modern look and feel with bright colors, icons/imagery, and clean lines. It contrasts well with the rest of Paris. Service: very good service. Kong is a fantastically fashionable bar at the top of the LVMH building. Its name, manga-inspired prints, and menu - a haute French / southeast Asian fusion - show its Asian influences. Slink around the lounge bar, or hit up the airy upstairs dining room to take in a view of the Seine. Lit partitions, a florescent stairwell, and table-lighting combine to form a visually active space. Plasma screens grace the restaurant's perimeter, flashing images of geishas and Kong's logo. Upbeat lounge music completes the picture. Presentation-wise, plating was excellent. Flavor-wise, our plates were more hit than miss. The agneau roti was a good try: sweet potatoes and tender pork (prepared medium) sat on a bed of violently strong spinach, artichokes, and red curry. Alas, there wasn't enough curry or spinach to rescue the plain meat. On a more positive note, the carpaccio de bar sauvage et daraude, sushi de pomme verte was tasty, the fish had a faint saltiness, a citrus accent of sorts. The beef tartare was delicious, with a soft texture, the raw taste kept to a minimum. A quail egg topped this dish's whimsical presentation. For dessert, the signature Pierre Hermé deux mille feuille (11 E) was decadent and not cloyingly sweet. The contrast between the chocolate and hazelnut mousse was incredible. Our server spoke English to us when he caught on that we weren't native French speakers. He paid so much attention to us that we gladly left an extra tip. Although it is infact a beautiful restaurant with kind staff, I must say Ive never been so dissatisfied with food. I ordered the meat, medium rare, it was flavorless, and hard to cut. I ordered a side of vegetables, they came in a tiny plate, and were basically raw. The rissoto was just rice.. I was very much looking forward to a great experience in this famous restaurant, but the food is just not worth the price, or any price at all. We were there right when the restaurant opened, had reservations and dressed really nice and got really great seats. The drinks downstairs at the bar were good, albeit expensive (not surprising in Paris). The service upstairs was very good to start but then got to be very lackluster. We kept waiting for our bill but the server did not come back by FOREVER. The place was packed - you would think they would want to free up our table. The food was interesting. It was good but I did have to send back my main dish as it was freezing. This was our most expensive dinner in Paris so it was a little sad. The manager of the hotel was very rude! We made reservations arrived on time and asked for a minor seat adjustment. Not only did it turn into a big deal she blatantly berated and ridiculed us to all of her colleagues as we sat and watched. It became so uncomfortable that we informed our waiter that we were leaving. The manager came to the table and stated that if we leave we would have to pay for the complimentary water that came with our reservation. I told her that's fine and to bring the bill. Our waiter came and apologized and stated he's not charging us for complimentary water. It's sad that post pandemic people are still treating patrons bad. My friend was very set on going to this restaurant called "Kong." I wasn't sure why? So right as we were walking up to the restaurant, I asked her and she said that she saw it on "Sex and the City." Haha! I was game, because I don't know where to eat in Paris. The building is super hard to find if you didn't know where to go, but her cousin helped us find the place. He is a local. The upstairs dinning area is very breathtaking. That alone is what you are paying for. Plus I thought the clear plastic seats, imprinted with the heads of the 3 Kong girls were unique. Staff were pleasant and spoke English to us, since we lack any language skills (thanks America!). My meal was 17 euro and I also ordered a 4 euro tea. Not too bad. But we went during lunch and that is how we were able to sit upstairs in the viewing area, otherwise I heard it is near impossible for the dinner hour to sit upstairs. We had to put down a down payment for dinner and we asked to change the amount of people weeks before our reservation, but they said the down payment was nonrefundable. First off, very cool and chic ambiance with open glass ceiling and window panels on the 5th floor overlooking the city streets. Service was good and food was okay. Just so you know , there's a minimum of either an entire or 2 starters which is fine. Beware, the bill already included 10% VAT plus another 20% of VAT, a total of 30% VAT, then the waitress handed us the credit card scanner pad pointing at the 25% tip icon, my partner did not know that service fee have already been added and with the pressure, he added another 25% tip. The food bill was 130 plus 10% VAT, but ended up paying 207 euro! That's 77 in 20% service and tip! read more
