For the first time in the 8 years of owning my Cyber Power Gaming PC (not a gamer) my sound went out. Also got an update messages that after October my pc would not update to Windows 11. Called around to various computer repair shops. My initial plan was to upgrade the parts on my desktop because it's such a perfect computer, hate to buy a new one. Bill at HZ computer repair located in China town told me to bring my desktop over, he may be able to help. Walked in, saw various custom built desktop gaming systems Bill built for other customers, very impressive work. Unfortunately it was going to be too much of a hassle to upgrade the motherboard, and another part. So I decided to buy another desktop computer for the meantime. Horribly rude. They act like they don't need your business. I went into the store to have my iPad repaired. The woman at the desk was talking on the phone and did not even acknowledge my presence. I stood around for a few minutes and noticed someone else in the back of the store. No one even bothered to talk to me. After a few more minutes I just walked out. This is no way to treat customers. HORRIBLE. Very rude and disrespectful towards me after HE broke my speakers then tried to charge me to replace them after already spending over 500 dollars in repairs. Never bothered to put the screws back in the bottom of my laptop, then told me "i never brought them in" and also tried to charge me AGAIN for screws. Will NEVER be coming back here for ANYTHING. Highly highly recommend! for something that would have taken daysss at geek squad, This guy handled my problem in less than an hour. My PC wasn't turning on and I got a FREE diagnostic to find out what the issue was. My (power supply died) He had another power supply in stock and replaced the defective one. Bill was great. I had to get my work computer fixed - one of my coworkers had used it in the past and messed up the charger port and it needed to be fixed. AFTERWARDS - the lcd screen on the Dell XPS died - Bill was helpful in getting it replaced. Unfortunately, the LCD screen was refurbished and it was messed up too but there was a warranty and Bill was able to replace it at no charge! Great service, great tech people. read more

Great place. Got my laptops fans replaced there, took about 2-3 days reasonable price. The only bad thing about the place is that the repair guy is not full time so he maybe be there and he may not. Tip call ahead of time to make sure that someone is in the shop or else you might have to wait until someone shows up. read more

I came to Jay (that's what he told me was his name, probably to make it easier on me, but I saw that he has been called other things as well) with a difficult job: essentially taking a very slim ultrabook that had a shattered case, and rebuilding it to fit into the same case I had bought online. On the phone he quoted a lower price when I was vague with the details, but when he saw the amount of work required, he still quoted a reasonable price, and got the work done in one day. I had my doubts that it was even possible, but he did a fantastic job. He's reasonable, professional, and seems like a good guy. Do give him your business! read more

I had a great experience here. After a night of heavy drinking and facebooking, I accidentally cracked the screen on my laptop. I looked at several computer repair places, and they all quoted me rather exorbitant prices. This place did the job for less than half of what everyone else did. The screen was ordered, arrived in two days (after they told me five), and took less than an hour to install. Everyone who worked there was friendly and professional. TLDR: Bill and his young assistants will fix your computer and won't rip you off. Long version: After moving apartments, my home built computer wouldn't power up. I took the whole thing apart and reassembled it, and it still wouldn't work, so I brought it to HZ based on other positive Yelp and Google reviews. Bill and his young assistant spent a ton of time first replacing the motherboard (which both Bill and I initially thought was the problem), then testing various parts until they figured out that the power supply was the real culprit (even though the power supply seemed to be working the whole time). At that point we hadn't really discussed price other than the cost of the original motherboard replacement, but Bill suggested a price that was completely fair for the amount of time and effort he'd contributed, and I happily paid it. I understand he does small business tech support, too. I work for a big company, but if I ever needed a neighborhood guy to take care of my computers, he'd definitely be on my list of people to call. read more

I've had 3 computers built there over the years and these guys are the best. Just last week I had some kind of intrusion where my antivirus software was corrupted as was my anti malware program. I really didn't know what the source of this was being that I rarely if ever click on links I don't know. Anyway, after spending 4 hours with Microsoft Tech support while they remotely controlled my computer - and could not help, I took the machine to Jay and Bil at HZ. They had to wipe the hard drive and reinstall the operating system. All done the same day and now things are humming along once again. read more
