Went to Hyvee in Rochester Aug 31st 6pm. Checked out restaraunt for the 1st time. Mylosia F very promptly saw us and took our order, sweet personality. Needs a lil more suggestive selling and info on the foods u have on menu but she was great and very attentive while we waited. Got our buscuits n Gravy(tender and flavy buscuits need to have buscuits warmed up) a lil to spicy for me but my friend LOVED it. Mylosia offered to exchange it, i got a burger med rare. WOW awsome A real treat to see a real size burger and color hd got on the Med rare burger was perfect, bun was crispy.. burger very Juicy was season beautifully. The condiments were fresh, crisp and really looked nice, onion needs to be a lil thinner. The Chef Eric was a burger master and please tell him Chef Gordon Ramsey would love this burger. I've been shopping exclusively through Hy-vee aisles online since Covid. After that on my regular one at Barlow's I continued to go to the W. Circle Dr. one I had bad luck every time stuff not being in stock. After almost giving up, I try the 37th St. location. Boy am I ever glad I did. Tiana(sp?) and the rest of the staff there have been absolutely amazing. She's always got the best personality. She's always very friendly and kind and interacts with everybody in a very respectful way. I just appreciate her and the rest of the crew at the 37th St. Aisles online because they are absolutely amazing and you've earned a customer for life. The best thing ever is the food is always fresh and delicious and the lines are never too long so you don't have to wait but if you do, it's been a very nice part of the parking lot so you have some green trees and 37th St. to look at to keep you occupied if you have to wait. I would recommend them to anybody who's looking for a great place to order groceries. If you're looking for a great little gas station to their fast and fresh station is amazing they have some great deals, and the layout makes sense. The manager of that place was absolutely amazing. He was super kind and friendly answering any questions I had, and was especially kind to an older gentleman in front of me who is taking a little longer to complete his order. read more

The Hy-Vee gas station at 37th St Rochester often has warm food sandwiches and items that are time expired. I have tried stopping in for a quick item on the way to work several times and have found stale/old stuff on the warming display... nasty. Such a small offering of warm stuff compared to Kwik you would think that it could be inviting? read more

Let me start by saying that my 5 star rating is due to comparing H-V to other mainstream grocery stores, not specialty stores like Whole Foods. Hy-Vee has awesome produce, a great meats area, huge selection of just about everything, and it all looks fresh, unlike the offerings at places like Econo Foods which is gross. In addition to the produce and meat, I'm a big fan of H-V's fresh bake-at-home pizzas and fresh salad bar. Now the best part: Hy-Vee is almost always is cheaper than their competition. Sure Cub or Target or others have sales, but comparing grocery basket to grocery basket, Hy-Vee is hard to beat. Plus, I just can't bring myself to buy food at Walmart or Target. read more

I have been away from the local grocery store Hy-Vee for a few years now and it was fun to swing in again today to grab some stuff to make a meal. I always enjoy seeing basil plants for 5.00-Got stuff to make strawberry shortcakes....and the berries were two for 5.00 and we got some pound cake from the Hy-Vee bakery that was fresh and buttery and worked well. The meat case looked clean and appetizing---they had some huge jumbo king crab legs for 27.00 a lb.. Had to purchase some Arborio rice and they actually had a few different brands....also a big selection of chicken stock brands....This is a very large store and they carry a great selection. read more

Prices are decent, and can be dirt cheap on sale items. The store is clean, the staff helpful, and the selection ample (although not impressively so). Why only 3 stars? The produce. I know Hy-Vee can do produce with a reasonable degree of quality - the Barlow Plaza store shows that. So why does this store regularly display lettuce that is going soggy in the bag, and mushrooms in the middle stages of decomposition, or cilantro that is wilted within 2 days of coming home with you? And the selection of hot peppers... It's just sad. read more

We picked up Chinese carryout this evening from the 37th St NW Hy-Vee. It was on our way home and was a convenient choice. It would have been a better idea to drive a few blocks out of the way and go to a Chinese restaurant. The food doesn't appear very fresh as it has been sitting out in a steam tray for some time. You can expect to pay as much or more then you would a Chinese restaurant and the portions are about half the size. I have had the dine in Chinese at lunch time and have always been very satisfied but perhaps it's just not a great choice for carryout dinner. read more

I stopped by the HyVee pharmacy to have prescriptions filled for my son. The pharmacist asked if my son had ever taken these prescriptions before and told me about possible side effects to watch for. I've been shopping with Hy-Vee since I lived in IA 20 years ago. I will no longer be a customer with them because of the following experience: I went to the pharmacy on 37th St and was told they would not let me use GoodRX (which is a coupon service for those of us in between insurance but need prescriptions in the meantime). I have used it multiple times in the past, but they no longer will acknowledge the discount. I had to "Pay in full or go get Insurance"...this is literally what the woman told me! Should I have explained my husband lost his job 2 weeks ago and the insurance shut off and we are getting MNSure for the in-between as employer I'm with doesn't offer it? Is it necessary to know my exact story to be acknowledging a freaking coupon?! I've let the Doctor's office know about this, they actually had a few other calls from patients having trouble at other Hy-Vees in MN today, and they will be letting any patient without insurance know they can go to other pharmacies but not Hy-Vee any longer. I personally have decided to cease all grocery buying as well from this vendor until they acknowledge this is cruel to people who can't afford expensive medications at full price and will also be sharing my story as I live in Med City (Rochester). read more

Came in for breakfast on a Saturday morning. I ordered the 'Good Start' and wife had the traditional eggs Benedict. Daughter had a chocolate chip pancake, which I was told was really good, my wife also had some. I should note my daughter has a peanut allergy and they were kindly accomodating, cooking her meal off to the side in a separate area. The food was good, no complaints there. If based solely on the food, I would come here again and again. However, we waited almost 50 minutes for our food to arrive, and the restaurant was only at half capacity. Also, another family member tried getting the breakfast potatoes, but the waitress apologized saying they were out. Thought that was weird given they are located inside of a grocery store (couldn't they just grab and make more?). Overall, I had to give 3 stars mainly based on the wait time. I wish there was a 3.5 star option. I would have given 4 stars easily had they sorted that out. read more

Very large full service grocery store. This is where you go if your not looking for the cheapest price in town, but want the best service. They go out of their way to get you what you want. The bakery made a fantastic shower cake for me and their meat dept. is outstanding. I would give them five stars except for the prices are a bit higher than what I like to spend since I'm so frugal! read more

Once you get past the idea of a good restaurant in a grocery store, you're in for a treat. The food is tremendous. Everything from Blackened Shrimp to a Teriyaki Burger. The atmosphere is excellent. They have an excellent beer and wine selection and the manager Kumail will go out of his way to accommodate you. All pasta selections are offered with gluten free pasta and are absolutely delicious. They also have Wine and Food matching nights with 6 different Wine/Food courses. Do yourself a favor and try eating at a first-class restaurant in a grocery store. read more

This review is for Barlow's Hyvee supermarket and does not encompass any other store in the Hyvee chain. Barlow's is frickin' awesome! Probably hands down the best supermarket/grocery store I have ever been in. When I lived in Rochester from 1998-2002, I shopped here exclusively after learning of its existence. The produce is fresh and there is a huge variety. They have a fairly large World Foods section, which is the main reason I go there. Granted in the 11 years I have been gone, a lot of ethnic grocery stores have popped up around Rochester and I plan to check them all out real soon. But when you are cooking up a green curry or pollo en mole, Barlow's has the one ingredient that you ran out of last time but forgot to pickup during your last 13 stops at the grocery store. Their meat dept is clean and well stocked. Their butchers are friendly and knowledgeable about the types of meat and cuts they offer. This is the kind of place where you can order several pounds of beef brisket with an inch of fat on one side, and they won't look at you like you are from Mars then ask if you wanted a Corned Beef Brisket as has happened to me everywhere I tried this in Northern Minnesota. Prices here are reasonable, but not so low it screams employee wage abuse like it does at Walmart. Overall, I am excited to be living so close to this establishment once again! read more

Terrific breakfast of eggs, hashbrowns, toast, and coffee. I always order my eggs "over medium" and they were cooked perfectly! The hashbrowns were abundant and perfectly done. Service was top-notch and price was good. I had virtually the same meal the day before at Perkins and it was twice as expensive and half as delicious. read more

I realize I'm spoiled having grown up in the other Rochester NY - home of Danny Wegman and Wegmans supermarkets, but this store seemed stuck about 30 years in the past. This review is for Barlow's Hy-Vee Food Store in Rochester, MN. So, this was partly my fault, but I think others need to be aware... I bought three racks of pork loin ribs from this location and they were bad. When I picked them up from the cooler unit, they felt a little warm, but I still bought them. I then opened up the packages, and they smelled a little off, but I still prepared them six hours on the grill. But, after cooking them, it was obvious that they were definited spoiled. For some reason, I then checked the original packages and I noticed they didn't even have an expiration date. Goodness knows how old those ribs were.... As I said before, in a rush to buy the meat originally and not return the meat when I first opened up the packages, I ended up wasting a lot of time and money. Thankfully, I did not serve these ribs to anybody. But, HyVee shouldn't have such meat in their refrigeration units for sale. You shouldn't have to worry about the meat that you buy at a grocery store. Unfortunately, it seems that you do have to be careful at this location. I would just suggest that you simply buy you meat somewhere else... read more

All the food at The food counter in Hyvee are GREAT. It tastes good 95% of the time. But my big issue is the lady in the actual eating area. She is VERY RUDE TO ME. I'm handicapped. And I use a walker or two canes, or the electric scooter supplied by the store and I use that only when we plan to shop after we eat. The first time we were there was when we stopped to eat before we did a bit of grocery shopping. My husband helped me getting into the store because it was raining out. And I knew I would be getting the electric scooter. So I left my cane in the car. When I came into the restaurant she told me I couldn't bring the cart inside. And I told her I was handicapped and needed it because I can't walk well. And she said no you can't bring it in. So I waited as my husband put our food on the table closest to the door. And she said no we couldn't eat at that table. There were only three tables being used. There was one table with a reserved sign on it. And she walked him to the very furthest table at the back of the restaurant. So he said you see my wife don't you have something closer by. She said very shotty no this is were I can put you. Since we really needed to shop he just put the food down then came and helped me back to our table. Then Tuesday we came in this week. And I had my walker. And she brought us back to the last table AGAIN. And then before I eat down she said I had to move my walker because it was blocking the isle. I asked how can that be we are in the very back. No one else is even back here. Then she said no I can't have my walker next to me. So I sat down then my husband moved it to be between the two tables across the way. Then after we ate. My husband got my walker so I could stand to leave. And she came rushing over and said you can't have that in the isle. I already have told you that. And my husband said it isn't in the isle unused. SHE NEEDS IT TO WALK!!!! Then she rolled her eyes and walked away. We will continue to shop at Hy-Vee Barlow's because it is close to home. And we enjoy the Chinese food and the regular hot food section. But we will never eat it there AGAIN. DON'T GO TO HY-VEE BARLOW RESTAURANT if you have trouble walking and need a walking aid (walker, cane, or electric scooter) because the HORRIBLE RESTAURANT ATTENDEE won't allow you to use it. If I was alone I would of been in a real danger of falling and getting hurt. read more

We used this Hy-vee bakery to supply our wedding cake. They allowed us to have free, unlimited cake trials prior to the wedding to try different combos of cakes and fillings and frosting, which was super helpful. They also helped us design the cake, and had many books of pictures to give us some ideas. The cake itself was absolutely delicious, the design came out beautifully, and all our guests loved it. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is that unfortunately when the cake arrived at our venue the top of the box had been pushed down into the cake and almost all of the frosting was removed from the top layer of the cake! Luckily we had a large cake topper and the florist was able to hide the rest with extra flowers. When I went to Hy-vee after the fact to explain what happened they were very apologetic and offered a $50 gift card as recompense. Overall, would still recommend for anyone looking for a cake for a special event! read more

They eliminated the wait staff in the Market Grille. Therefore, you order just outside the restaurant, get your own beverages, condiments, etc. HyVee Market Grille in the past was always fresh and delicious...and why not? Fresh ingredients right outside your door, right? My fruit cup contained dried up fruit, unfortunately. No one was behind the bar, so there was no opportunity to order an adult beverage. However in my attempt to purchase an Easter lily I was never greeted, just brought up the flower to the florist check out register and was never recognized the girl just took the flower rang it up will continuing to talk to her co-worker about inappropriate topics. Went in to buy a few items for dinner. Ended up buying way more than I needed as they had a awesome sale going on. Every time I saw an employee there they would say hello and asked if I was finding everything alright and if there was anything they could help me with. Very friendly staff. The cashier was also friendly as well. She had some extra coupons that a customer before me didn't use and asked if I would like to use them since I had the items that they were for. I loved this as it saved me money. One of them was even for an extra 25 cents savings for the fuel saver card. I have done my grocery shopping at other stores in the past and have never had as friendly and helpful service as I got here. read more
