I visited Rochester to see my family, and I found this very cute, elegant and upscale, coffee roasters, and a bar with an amazing ambience and a very huge diverse variety of seating which gives us a chance to pocket yourself in different places for different occasions you could use some spaces for working and some places for just chilling with friends This place is absolutely neat and amazing. The people inside the store were super helpful and gave us an option to find the right kind of drinks that we have. They have different varieties of food and drinks that you can have there. Been wanting to visit here for the longest time, I know there's a few in the cities and got excited when they decide to open one in roch! The parking isn't the best considering it's a hotel lobby but we just parked in the Mayo lot (it was the weekend so we didn't care). The decor was cute and the they had decent amount of seating. The seats were all taken, we were helped in a timely manner. They have non dairy options which is great! The only downside is that we paid $15 for our drinks. Soooo happy there's a Spyhouse in Rochester! It's sometimes hard to find parking - usually parallel park on one of the streets behind the hotel. The ambience is great! There's plenty of seating as it's attached to a hotel. One can come here with a group or alone to work. The hotel bathrooms are clean and right around the corner from the coffee shop. I haven't tried any of the pastries but the coffee is so good! I especially like Spygirl and the Matcha latte. The baristas are friendly, patient and helpful! read more

My Cappuccino--How It Should Be Another half marathon running trip brought us to Rochester, MN--a small city with a great atmosphere, lively downtown, and plenty of fantastic hotels and restaurants. Four of us stayed in a downtown hotel, ready to take on a half marathon on May 17th. The race itself was incredible. The crowd, the course, the energy--it all came together perfectly. We all finished with impressive times, and one of us even hit a personal record. Yohoo! After the race, it was time for the next mission: finding the best cappuccino in town. We asked a few folks at the hotel for recommendations, and while some had great suggestions, we hit a snag--it was Sunday, and most of the coffee shops were closed. But luck was still on our side; one of our friends, after checking reviews, suggested we try Spyhouse Coffee, and off we went. Walking into the shop was an experience in itself--warm and welcoming. The space was vast, with an adjacent quiet seating area where many were working with a cup of coffee by their side. Interestingly, that space seemed even busier than the main area. As I took it all in, I found myself instinctively trying to assess the quality of the coffee, convinced--on intuition alone--that it had to be good. With no one ahead of us in line, we were ready to order. The barista, friendly and confident, took our orders. As usual, I went with my standard cappuccino with oat milk. She smiled, seemingly pleased with my choice. My friends ordered their own preferences, while one asked for a recommendation. To my delight, she responded without hesitation: "Our best coffee is the cappuccino." Aha! That was all I needed to hear. A few minutes later, our coffees were ready. I could barely contain my excitement as I took my first sip, and--oh my God!--it was unlike any cappuccino I'd ever had. The quality was exceptional, with perfectly roasted and ground espresso, expertly poured and blended with the oat milk. Each sip carried an exquisite texture and smoothness. I was so impressed that I immediately stood up, made my way to the barista, and personally thanked her for her craft. Natalie was her name--an absolute master of her art. The prices across the board are very high for a coffee house. The ambiance is okay, but nothing special. They did serve up a fantastic cappuccino with cool "coffee art" which is the only reason this is a 4 star review and not 3. The baked goods selection is a bit limited, and also expensive, but it was tasty. The staff was friendly at the order but they were self involved when we left, which seems unusual for a coffee house. I do recommend trying this place due to the high quality of the coffee, but just know the prices are high. read more

Absolutely love this spot, the coffee is delicious. I had the Spygirl latte and it was great. The coffee is not over roasted so it is well balanced and not too acidic. We tried an assortment of pastries including the classic chocolate chip cookie, pain au chocolat, and the Kouign amman. They were all great, airy, fluffy and extremely flavorful. I would definitely recommend this place and I will be back. They also have a variety of drinks an a good deal for happy hour. The service was excellent, friendly, helpful and gave us lots of options to work with. They made our coffee promptly. Lots of seating options, with wifi, and lots of outlets for computers. Checked it out during our visit to Rochester. Beautiful location and a very nice and open seating area. The decor goes along with the medical city. Staff was great, bakery items were excellent. The lattes were a mixed bag, the Spygirl was delicious but the liquid Gold latte wasn't my thing, wanted to try it and once was enough for me, lot of turmeric and gritty ginger I guess, don't like my latte gritty. Overall, a great place for a bite and to hang out. Has a bar in there too, didn't try that. read more

Love a good spyhouse. I always know I can be productive in spyhouse, their cold brew is great and will certainly provide you with some caffeine. Came back for another visit. Ordered a cortado, which came quickly and with a great balanced taste. This particular drink is more expensive here than other local coffee locals, but the nicely appointed environment and friendly staff make that little cost difference okay. Still only 4 stars as it is the little things that make a difference and the music is a little too loud for a coffee place...though the music is good. I stayed at the Marriott hotel this coffee shop is "attached" to. The coffee shop was a great place to catch up on emails before heading to work. I had the honey latte (can't remember the specialty name)... it was yum. They make art in their lattes, which is just a fun bonus. read more

Spyhouse is in the lobby of the fairly new TownePlace Suites about 3 blocks from Mayo. (Also across the street from Dan Abraham Healthy Living center so you can Mayo's subway within a block of the cofffee shop/hotel.) I had the Spygirl latte with lavender and honey. If you've never had lavender in coffee you are missing out. The other big find is that they partner with Patisserie 46 (well regarded Minneapolis bakery) with delicious treats. Overrated and overpriced coffee. Came here a few times and was pretty overwhelmed. The staff here is kind but a huge drawback that they don't have a microwave to heat up pastries. We got a pastry and it tasted pretty stale. I'd go to fiddlehead instead. read more
