I am a big fan of Fareway grocery stores.
Reasons:
1. They walk your groceries out to your car, load them, and will not accept a tip. Service with a smile!
2. Low prices.
3. The Fasco in-house brand is generally about par with Great Value in price, and par with name brands for quality. Compare a slice of American cheese from Fasco, Great Value and Kraft. Fasco will cost about the same as grea value and taste nearly identical to Kraft.
4. Meat counter is superb! They have daily and weekly specials on the meats. Last week I purchased 10lbs of 85/15 ground beef for $20. Last winter I purchased 100lbs of chicken hind quarters at $0.38/lb. Can't go wrong. I STRONGLY recommend trying the smoked pork chops. The best meal I've ever made for myself was with a Fareway Smoked Pork Chop, grilled over charcoal & apple wood chips, and last minute basted with a Cajun tomato based bbq(not your traditional bbq) with hints of cayanne. SUPERBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB!
5. Fresh produce
6. Good selection of goods.
7. The staff are very friendly, will take care of you if a problem arises. In this day, it's hard to find quality service at a grocery store. Fareway breaks this trend and does what it takes to take care of you.
I do not get down to Stewartville too often, but will stop in Fareway and stock up when I do. I bring a cooler for the cold stuff as my drive home is about 20 minutes.
All in all, I shop at Fareway for about 70% of my groceries, Trader Joes for about 20%, and Asian Fod Store for about 10%. Fareway makes the most economic sense for your staples. read more
