I even asked that the delivery person tell my son Congratulations. There was a little mix-up when they couldn't locate the cheesecake that I ordered. I called the floral section at hy-vee to have a bouquet of flowers delivered to my sister who was at the Mayo Clinic. I called a bit late and needed same day delivery and the lady who helped me was extremely patient, helpful and kind. She took care of everything and my sister loved the flowers !!! There doesn't seem to be very many floral shops in the Rochester area and I'm so glad that this grocery store offered this service and did an amazing job. read more

We were in Rochester for a dog show and always try and gather healthy food options from the local grocers to keep in the room rather than eating out for every meal. This location was close to the fairgrounds where the dog show was being held so it worked out well for us. We were able to find a parking spot easily and in an area that had a little shade - it was HOT in Rochester that weekend. There were two of us and one stayed with the dogs and the other went into the store. Layout has a nice flow and products we were looking for were easy to find. The deli had just completed making rotisserie chickens when I was walking past and they prepped one up for me to take along - dogs and people were happy about that! Added some sides and was prompted to consider items that would save us on the price of gasoline with the fuel saver - great program, who wouldn't want to save on gasoline! I would use this location again on future trips to Rochester. read more

I like this store, though I only shop there once a month. It has a lot of gourmet offerings, organic produce, and better-sourced produce as well. I don't shop here more often because it's so expensive, even for the same items I find at Walmart. So, we shop at ALDI first, maybe get delivery from Walmart once a month, and I stop at Hyvee for special items I can't find anywhere else. I have to control myself as there are many yummy things at Hyvee. I also don't like the bath bomb area as the smell is so strong, and it bothers me. Still, I go and just avoid that area as I always come home with treasures. Also, the cashiers and other staff are polite and helpful. I recommend it if it's in your budget or you just want to find some special items. read more

Who reviews a food store? I guess people that eat. I needed eggs. I passed over the known places to try a place I hadn't been to. What is a "HyVee" anyway? Its a nicely run grocery store with more variety than we see in the big box twin cities stores. I found a wide variety of eggs. Instead of one or two, I had 5 choices of cage free eggs. There were also eggs from a local farm. The meat counter was nice. The butcher was quite helpful. The meat looked (and later tasted) excellent. The produce was neat and orderly. I am partial to Hy-Vee stores as it is also my favorite grocery store in KS. I was pleased to see that this one also has a pretty good organic food selection (not the best, it definitely has room for improvement, luckily The Good Food Store across the street more than makes up for it!). It also has the health market in the back corner with a ton of options for green cleaning/toiletry products which I LOVE. Their health market frozen food section is pretty lame but it does have a few good choices. The customer service is always top notch! Drawback: There is only one entrance and one exit and they are on opposite sides which I find very annoying when parking. I have never been fond of such a layout. Quite annoying. Caribou coffee is inside which is nice. read more

HyVee is a great supermarket and in a walking distance from our neighborhood, it is very good for special stuff, organic foods , great vegetables and fruits, sushi and a lot of world food (special dressings, Asian food) , the only problem,it that it is pricey, for the special stuff it is worth it (best fruits in town except people co op ) but for the regular stuff that you can buy in Walmart , it is just too much . I am trying to buy most of the stuff(pops , frozen food , every thing that it is a known brand) in the big supermarkets and the special stuff here. read more

This is an amazing service! I'm spending a month in town and needed to stock an empty kitchen overnight. Hy-Vee totally delivered in all senses of the word! I ordered online Sunday night and my groceries were delivered to my hotel PROMPTLY the next morning. I'm very happy with the selection of items and brands. It was easy to order familiar foods. Where favorite brands weren't offered, the provided descriptions, ingredients and nutritional info helped me pick a good substitute. Check-out and delivery was easy. I appreciate the confirmation emails I received throughout the process. When I submitted my order, I had the option to allow substitutions for items that weren't available. I declined because some of my items were selected to meet specific dietary considerations. As it turns out, some of the "basics" I requested weren't available (eggs, sponges). I think next time I order, I will allow substitutions in general, but I will add notes on the specific items that I don't want substituted. This was so much better than taking a shuttle to Walmart! Totally a godsend if you're visiting Mayo and don't have a car. read more

Friendly, helpful staff! I've never been in a store were every employee smiles and says hello. This is it! Wonderful experience! I'm staying in the area for Mayo appointments. Everything that I need they got: nice selection of baked goods and prepared foods. My only complaint is the pre-sliced deli. I prefer deli meats to be chipped. And, prices are high but this is Minnesota. Everything seems more expensive here! I will definitely be back while staying in Rochester. read more

I love their bakery - we get my son's birthday cakes here every year and they're always moist and tasty, and they have a huge book of fun cake designs. Staff is friendly and helpful, store is clean and there is ample parking. They offer paper bags and they have their awesome fuel savers card! Hy-Vee now has four stores in Rochester now. This one used to be a Barlows . They had big shoes to fill when they took it over. I was a big Barlows fan and wasn't excited about the takeover at first. Well since then the store has undergone several remodels and I have to say I do enjoy shopping here now. It's a nice little strip mall also with a liquor store and restaurant. Hy vee has a great deli and their meat department is one of the best in town. I enjoy the greenhouse in the parking lot in summer. read more

I have mixed feeling about Hy-Vee.The star here are all super nice. They always say hello and when I can't find something, they actually walk with me to find it. Also, they are open 24/7, which is great. The downsides are the prices are much higher than elsewhere. Also, Hy-Vee brand products are just awful. Honestly, every item I've bought with their label on it is stale or flavorless. Whether it's chips, granola, meats, just awful. I asked for spicy italian sausage and when I cooked it, it had zero spice, and even less flavor. Chips and granola were both stale upon opening. The other major downside is the deli. To me, the deli and produce section are the most important area of any market. I've gotten deli meats and homemade sandwiches here on three occasions. First off, pre-sliced deli meats just don't cut it with me. It's a lazy approach and the meats they use are just super bland. Honestly, I'm not sure why I go here at all, it must be the genuinely friendly staff in every department. read more

We decided to try the Market Grille at Hy Vee when visiting Rochester Mn yesterday. We saw a billboard advertising it and it looked appealing. We called the store to confirm they had the Market Grille and ask for directions. The person answering the phone said she couldn't give directions, but we couldn't miss it as it is a brown building! We arrived and found the restaurant very quiet at 6pm. That could have been a signal about the quality of the restaurant. Restaurant is very plain, felt like a table in grocery store----nothing special, no ambiance . The server was pleasant. It took an hour to receive our food which was very poor quality. Salmon was over cooked, rice was dry and chef salad was mostly croutons. Manager was very apologetic and comped our meal, but it was very disappointing as we could have gone many other places and had a great meal and nice evening. Hy Vee hasn't got this strategy together. This Hyvee misses the mark in their hot food department of the delicatessen. The Hyvee where I moved from the food was always fresh and appetizing. This Hyvee no one really tends to the food. As a result it is dried out and doesn't even look appealing. I got some soup one night with corn bread; soup lukewarm and corn bread hard. I would recommend the Store Director take some time to look at their food appearances and get someone back there who knows how to lead a team to get things done and who knows how to manage a hot food bar. read more

i have shopped at this hy-vee for years and something has changed and it's not good. the managers stand around and talk while the shelves need stocking. on my last two visits i pointed out water on the floor. what were the managers doing talking. i am kinda of tired of bagging my own groceries too. it's a full service store, not. i really can't give them more that one star because this store use to be barlow grocery store and they were great. i can say this because i use to work for barlow and it was go go go all the time. i am yelping but next is a letter to the store it's that bad. thanks read more
