I found International Spices & Groceries using a Google search, and after visiting the market yesterday, I was so surprised that no one had reviewed the place on Yelp as of yet. Well, there's a first time for everything... The first thing I noticed about the store is how sparkling clean the floors were. Along with the bright lighting and well-organized shelves stacked with the whole gamut of traditional spices, jams, pita bread, cookies, and teas (to name only a few of the items they had), this place exceeded my expectations. Many international grocers have no desire to spruce up their stores because they know the focused customer base will continue to shop there, especially if there is no nearby competition. However, this place does an excellent job of appealing to the general public, with its ample selection of meats, cheeses, frozen and dried goods. If you plan on visiting the store on Fridays, remember that its closed around noon. I forgot what time exactly, but it is listed on the front door. I parked on the street at a metered spot right in front of the store and did not notice a nearby lot for shoppers.

I dont mean Pace picante sauce (barf!) nor do I mean pico de gallo, which I consider more of a garnish than an actual salsa. I mean tiny bottles filled with potent and tangy sauces every color of the rainbow. Tapatio, Dave's Gourmet Insanity, Cholula, and my all-time favorite: Green Yucateco. La Cosecha does an excellent job of keeping their shelves stocked with all my favorites and then some. I tried an avocado/habanero salsa here recently that was delicious. Besides keeping me in fire-breathing intensity, La Cosecha carries all kinds of Latin American staple foods that I want from Central and South America. They stretch from the Mexican north (tamale husks, steamers, stone mortar & pestle sets) all the way to the southern tip of Chile (frying dough for cheese empanadas).

He explained to me that Latins use thin strips of ribs for soups and stuff, interesting. I told him I wanted a big piece to grill and he went into the walk in and procured what looked like a whole pig! He cut down a huge slab of ribs for me and my BBQ day was saved. Can't say if it tasted good cos I don't eat pork but my BF scarfed them down so I'm guessing it was tasty. Price was very reasonable too. I've also bought stuff from the store here like dried chili's and plantains. Stuff you can't always get a a regular grocery store, they seem to have here as far as Latin food goes. Great asset to the MGM!

She was so patient and helpful with sizing, ordering, looking for more of the product I wanted. This is one of the only stores in the US you can order not just Dirndls, but also Mieders. Mieders are amazing because you get a great festival look that you can wear with your OWN jeans! Great for travel and when it's fall in Germany because I find it a bit cold. Erika also has the largest selection of blouses online. 10 stars!

Store is operated out of a residential basement so if it feels like you're driving into the middle of a neighborhood then you're on the right track. She has a little round about by then entrance and signage once you get close so you know you're not just driving onto some strangers property. It's tight inside since she has little trinkets and souvenirs packed in wherever there is space. There's food, collectibles, clothing and more! If you've visited or lived in Germany then you'll probably find something that reminds you of the area. She orders most of her products from German retailers and shops directly, everything we found was definitely authentic. Some items you can find at World Market or online for a little less, but the majority I've only seen in Germany. If you have a friend or relative that you want to surprise with some cool gifts from Germany then this is a good place to start.

A Hidden Gem in St. Paul--Vibrant, Welcoming, and Delicious!…read more We absolutely loved our visit to the Hmong Marketplace in St. Paul! It's one of those places that immediately makes you feel welcome and leaves you wondering why you hadn't come sooner. Easy to Navigate & Plenty of Parking: There's ample parking and the layout is intuitive--some produce vendors are located outside, while the inside is filled with everything from clothing and shoes to toys, household goods, and an incredible variety of food vendors. Truly the Friendliest Vendors We've Met: Every single vendor we interacted with was so kind and welcoming. My son even exclaimed, "I cannot believe how nice the people are here!" One vendor even opened a package of fruit so he could taste it before buying. The genuine hospitality made the experience unforgettable. No Cash? No Problem: Most vendors accept tap-to-pay and debit/credit cards, so there's no need to hunt for an ATM or carry cash--huge plus. COME HUNGRY. SERIOUSLY. The food court is a sensory dream. The aromas alone will have you salivating. Everything looked authentic and freshly made--we could've spent the whole day just eating our way through. We also picked up produce we can never find in our local grocery stores, and the prices were incredibly reasonable for the quantity and quality. A Beautiful Cultural Hub: It's more than just a market--it's a vibrant community space. It was heartwarming to see the Hmong refugee community gathered in a place where they can support one another, share their culture, and offer goods from their homeland. There's a real sense of pride and resilience here, and it's something you feel the moment you walk in. If you're in St. Paul and want an experience that's rich in culture, flavor, and human connection, make the Hmong Marketplace a top priority. You'll leave full--in both belly and spirit.

Found ourselves ordering from different stalls and found out each one offers different type of purple rice! Tables here are better than the village. This place is also bigger and lots of tables to sit. It's indoor so a lot cooler during summer. Shop around though since each stalls offers almost the same things but different pricing.
