They was maybe one of my worst experiences, I called in a simple order for a large shrimp fried rice as I had previously picked up some boiled seafood and usually I like to pair it with the fixings of the boil( it allows me to eat to a satisfactory point without over indulging in the boil) sadly all of the food was thrown away as any appetite we had was GONE! We get take out from here all time. I am a fan of their veggie shrimp with asparagus. If you eat this, your pee will smell funny (asparagus). The shrimp actually tastes fishy like real seafood even though it is some sort of soy protein product. They have a large selection of vegetarian dishes. One time I went in to pick up and order and I saw a 3 foot stature of a Chinese elder standing next to the register. And... he was wearing reading glasses. Absolutely phenomenal! We had a large order, and not only was everything delivered correctly and timely, but they even included a free order of Chinese dessert donuts (maybe an accident, but it was very nice)! I'm a vegetarian, and the tofu was perfect. The sushi was also very good. Only downside was they didn't include chopsticks, but I'm sure you could add it to the notes and I'm sure they would include it. My new favorite Chinese delivery! read more

I live in Westbury and had not tried Hu's Garden. (For future readers, it is COVID-19 mitigation 2020 time. Thank you, Hu's for being open! ) I am trying to support local businesses, so I thought I would try. I had no idea that Hu's had a Vietnamese and Sushi menu. The only item I am missing is Banh Mi, otherwise, so happy!!! Ordering online was fast and easy. Delivery was way faster than I expected, but it could have been the time of 5:00pm. We ordered Vietnamese tofu spring rolls, an eel roll, a rocky roll, and beef with broccoli. Spring rolls were soft and clearly just rolled. The tofu is not fried, which I thought I would not like, but I really did. I like a tighter roll but these were fresh and traveling, so it makes sense they were loose. The peanut sauce was delicious. The sushi rolls came in the typical container you would get in the grocery store, but the quality was no where near the same. Hu's is so much BETTER! The eel was warm, soft, umami and definitely not chewy like when eel sits around and is refrigerator. The rocky rolls were crunchy, chewy, fresh, and creamy just as you would get in a restaurant. There were many packets of soy sauce and the perfect amount of wasabi! I love wasabi and did not need more, like I usually do. (Tip: use a wide shallow bowl if you ignore what is tradition and mix your soy with wasabi-I know better, but I love it this way.) My husband had the beef and broccoli. There was plenty of rice and it looked good. Broccoli was the right shade of green and beef seemed marinated. He said it was good-not more or less than he would have expected, but better than take out before. I am excited I took the leap. I volley between 4 and 5 stars because I have not visited. Take out: 5 Dining: 4 because I have no idea. Hu's is not a James Beard award winner; it is a good spot, that does food well and is a part of the community. read more

Pleasant dining room with quick service. Hot and Sour soup had so much cornstarch it was like gravy. Orange Beef with very thick sauce but I loved the orange rind slices. They could cut the meat by 1/4 and put some cut broccoli florets in it. When I heated up my left overs I looked closely at the meat and was surprised to see it was PORK not beef. Summary: How desperate are you for Chinese Food? You walk in and immediately smell something like old, wet, moldy carpet. If it weren't for my dedication to you Yelp followers, I would have turned around and left. Yelp has Elite stats, but do they award bronze stars for bravery? Dinnertime and there are only two other tables busy of the 22 tables. I feel for the owners, so I press on. The decor looks like the same as for 20 years (pleasant), but it's just worn, and not in bad condition. And there is the requisite aquarium (I like peacefulness of fishees). The menu has pictures of the entrées, which I like to see (since most Chinese restaurants do not list the vegetables in their descriptions). There are some unusual dishes, but I order traditional. Waitress brings a small dish of the crisp thin noodles. They are 'humidified' crispy noodles (not stale, according to the waitress). Steamed Vegetable Dumplings were served too quickly to be fresh, and sure enough they appear to be twice steamed, and are soggy and fall apart at the touch. The good news (?) is that they contain broccoli and other unrecognizable finely-chopped veggies. Moo Shu Pork with Crepes: These are just below average...too salty and not as flavorful and fresh as I am used to having elsewhere. Service was friendly, but I did not get a tea refill, and was licking the ice to quench my salt-induced thirst. Maybe they have a better lunch service, and I just had the leftovers, but I don't think I will be back soon. read more

At Hu's Garden, you get what you pay for and what should be expected. Larry B.'s extremely critical review completely misses the point of this restaurant. You don't go to Hu's Garden for ambience; in fact, you don't go in at all. You order, they deliver, and you never once have to leave your house. That is the beauty of it. They are always speedy, always correct, extremely friendly, and serve cheap, good Chinese food to your door (if you live in Bellaire or Meyerland). I was very disappointed with my vermicelli dish n the Vietnamese eggrolls. When is come to Chinese in Houston... this is one of my number one places. Maybe I'm bias because it's so close to my house... but man... this is a gem. The food is ALWAYS consistent and fresh. I can't think of one time I've ever ordered something here where I was like "ugh."... you know that "ugh" you get from some other funky Chinese restaurant... not here! They have a new menu too.. I haven't tried all the new menu choices.. but mmmm they have some tasty vegetarian choices now. Gosh, orange chicken, sesame chicken, the egg rolls.... ok I'm getting hungry again thinking about the food here. Seriously, the food here is fresh... it hasn't been sitting under a heat lamp for hours until someone decides to order it... you can really taste flavor here. But enough about the awesome food... The people here are always so nice too. The delivery is super fast if you live in the meyerland area too. The prices are also very decent. Right now their parking lot is all messed up from the construction/remodel of the shopping district they are in, but DON'T let that prevent you from going in. Warning: this review does not end well. I came here today to have lunch. Upon entering, I noticed a) a peculiar smell like that of floor cleaner and b) the lack of customers during lunchtime. Not a terrible sign but interesting to note. They have a pretty extensive lunch menu with many reasonably priced options, all served with a choice of soup, steamed or fried rice, and a veggie eggroll. The BF ordered the shrimp and chicken with jalapenos and I ordered the kung pao chicken. Before receiving our soups, the waitress gave us a small plate of (what I assume were) fried wonton strips. They were crunchy, kinda bland, and completely unnecessary. Then came the hot and sour soup, which wasn't much better. I felt it to be too salty and too sour. Luckily, the entrees themselves were decent. I enjoyed my kung pao chicken for the most part, although my boyfriend didn't like his fried rice (too dry). All in all, a passable lunch experience. Here comes the long-winded bad news. I came here today with the intention of using my Google Offers voucher to pay for the meal. I pulled it up on my phone and showed it to the waitress, who asked if I had a printed copy, to which I replied no. She disappeared for several minutes to speak to her manager, who told her he could not accept the voucher unless it was printed. We went back and forth a few times, with me calmly explaining that, per Google's policy, a mobile version of the voucher was perfectly acceptable. Finally, after more pleading with her boss he came over himself and told me flat-out no, though his logic for only accepting printed vouchers was both faulty and ignorant. I realized that reasoning with him was out of the question, so we paid our bill and left. It was an embarrassing, wholly off-putting experience. The ONLY reason this place has any stars at all is, because the waitress was nice and the service was otherwise pretty good. This visit is attributed to one of those times I felt adventurous and wanted sushi. Unfortunately I found out after leaving only to be called back and informed that there is no sushi chef and that it would be almost an hour for fresh sushi. As much as I appreciated the communication and honesty, that really didn't help my situation. In order to make the process easier, since the meal was already charged to my card, I had staff adjust my bill for General Tso's lunch special. Nothing special about the combo. In fact the place across the street from me does it better. I tried to make a disappointing lunch break as manageable as possible. My advice to anyone is if you want to try their sushi call ahead to see if they have a chef on staff before making the trip. read more

We love this place and have been ordering takeout or delivery from here for about 10 years. I've never eaten in, so can't comment on service. Our favorites are the sesame chicken, cashew chicken, spicy beef, and fried rice. The portions are MASSIVE. They honestly pack as much chicken as possible into the large containers. We usually get one serving of sesame chicken and one of something else. This gives you enough food to feed 4 people and probably still have leftovers. The chicken is ALWAYS 100% real white meat chicken. Nothing is mystery meat. No MSG. Fast, courteous delivery. Big portions. Cheap prices. Love it. The quality of the product is so good that I don't like other cheap Chinese places anymore. read more

I really like this restaurant! They have the only good Chinese food in the area. I like eating in the restaurant because it's usually pretty empty, so it's a quiet place to have a nice meal. Plus I like the decor inside. :) I always get pork dumplings when I go here, I just love them so much! Then I'll try different things for my entree, and it's all been delicious. Went there last night July 5, 2016 for take-out: Ordered The Mongolian style Chicken & Shirmp and the Jalapeño Chicken & Shirmp.... when I got home opened up my container.... it was the worse smell that came from the food. It smelt like old spoiled fish. I tried the food and noticed that the shirmp was old and spoiled. I spent over $50 in this restaurant. Wanted to drive back to get my money back, but it was too late in the evening. Not only that.... the order took forever.... about 45min.
