I have written this review to inform potential customers of my experience w/Hunters Investment Group, LLC DBA Hunters Home Builder. What originally stood out to me about the owner's ad was his profile picture, which is a military picture of him. As a Veteran, I contacted his company because I like to support my Veteran community and know that service (and former) members hold themselves to high standards. During his interview, he was explaining to me that he goes above the requirements needed to maintain his contractor's license. He also told me his son who works for him does not know much about construction & cuts corners but, assured me that he does not allow him to cut corners on his watch. Despite him telling me that about his son, I hired him anyway because I trusted he maintained those high military standards. BREACH OF CONTRACT. I hired the company to frame/install 3 windows into walls w/non-existing windows. Upon "completion", I paid the remaining balance. Immediately after paying him, I asked for a receipt & to sign the certificate of completion as stated on his contract I signed. I was told no and did not & will not provide me with a receipt stating I have paid the balance in full. I contacted him asking for a receipt and he refuses to acknowledge my request. CONSTRUCTION CODE VIOLATION/POOR CRAFTSMANSHIP. After installing 3 of 3 windows, I noticed there was not weather proofing barrier installed between any of the wood/window frames. I asked the owner how he was going to seal it & he said he was going to use caulking. I then witness the son beginning to stucco the edges of the window pane w/out weather proofing. I asked him if he needed to put some type of material between the wood and window frames and he said no. After they left, I inspected the windows and saw the son did a subpar job with stuccoing and was uneasy about missing weather proofing. I texted both questioning how they plan on sealing the windows, w/complaints & concerns on cosmetics of the stucco. The son told me it is not a new construction so it does not need moister barrier. The owner told me he would explain the process to me on 7/16/23. I voiced my concern, again, about the quality of the son's work & about the lack of moister barrier. Upon completion, I inspected their work. The stucco looked awful. Instead of them cleaning the window pane & making it presentable/professional the owner told me how to clean the excess stucco off. After they left, I proceeded to clean the stucco off the edges of the window pane when a piece of stucco fell off. After further inspection, I found there was no moister barrier or any type of sealant between the wood/window frames. NOTICE TO CONTRACTOR. Immediately after discovering missing barrier and sealant I contacted the company to provided them the opportunity to come fix their work. I was told the son would come on Tuesday but I did not want him to come and fix the issues, since I have voiced several concerns about his work & had concerns about him working alone due to his limited construction knowledge. I requested the owner come to fix the craftmanship & was told he would only come out if I paid an $80 trip charge; which by the way was never mentioned prior to this interaction. My home is currently being exposed to the elements and the extreme heat is pouring into the house. The owner states he's been doing window framing/insulation for 20 years but that doesn't mean it's been quality or correct. read more

So we hired Hunters Home Builders to do a few small projects around the house. Darrel came out to look at the items. The things we wanted fix were to re hang a few doors, tighten up a few faucet handles, install a Wine Fridge to our island and a pull out garbage tray in same island. We also had a landing that had a riser added to it causing one step to be two inches. We asked can you take this out and retile the Floor. Darrel stated these were all easy things to do and he and his son could take care of it. Although while discussing the work he started to tell us how un reliable his son was and that should have been the first red flag. So they were supposed to show up on a Wednesday but about 20min before they were to arrive my wife got a text saying that he had to help his son get ready for his Final test for HVAC certification and that they would be out the following day. Second Red Flag! So Darrel, his son and nephew arrived the next day and proceeded to get items, they seemed to bounce around on different projects, the demo on the stairs did get done first then it was off to other projects. They did not finish the first day and after they left, we noticed that there was a mess left everywhere they had worked, it was like they didnt care they left a mess. I was always taught, when working at a customers property, leave it better then you found it, apparently these guys never learned that. Friday came with them back on time bouncing in-between projects. Darrel worked on the install for the wine fridge and pull out while his son Brandon worked on the landing. At one point Brandon had to go to Home Depot for something and was gone for well over two hours to which we heard Darrel complaining about it. It looked as if nothing had been done to the landing. I noticed that the landing between the stairs seemed to flex in the middle of it and we made mention to Darrel about it. I was worried that with the flex that the tiles would pop or break. Darrel said it will be fine, he is a big guy and you wont have any issues. His son finely returned and started cutting and laying the tiles. He got everything laid down with a this set and then told us not to walk on it for at least a day. We said are you kidding? All the bedrooms are upstairs, he then said well you can walk on it. Once again I voiced my concern about the give in the floor and was told once the thin set is dried, it will be solid. Also once again they left a mess in the house. Saturday came and Darrel said they were almost finished, just had to do the grout work and finish the slide out for the trash can. Well it took all morning for them to complete the grout and when they were done around 1:30 they were ready to get paid and leave. We paid them and they almost ran out the door. What we then found was trash left behind from the flooring and just a general mess where they were. Now we also had another contractor here doing a build out on a wall, those guys were a night and day difference as they had paper rolled out for the floor and plastic up to cut down on the mess and cleaned up nightly. Well Sunday afternoon as I went waking up the stairs, as soon as I stepped on the landing, I heard a loud Pop sound and froze, knowing I poped a tile. I looked around and nothing else happened until later Sunday night as I was going up to bed, I stepped in another place other then where I stepped earlier, and heard another loud Pop on a different tile! And now the landing feels mushy and I can tell that three tiles are giving way, caused by the floor flexing under weight. I totally regret hiring these guys, while Darrel was nice, his craftsman work and sub standard work has made me second guess my decision and we will not be going back to them to fix our issues, which they should which they should be doing. Edit, so in the light of day, the tiles did not pop, they actually cracked, and the poor quality of work is making me ill looking at it. Update, now 6 tiles have cracked and we found a leak on one of the facets in the bathroom they "fixed" read more

We had a whole ton of issues with our house inside and out. Luckily we had Darryl come in and completely turn our house into a brand new one. We had bad pipes, electrical was a nightmare, bad flooring, I mean the list goes on. We knew we were getting a fixer upper when we purchased the home. Luckily we found a contractor that made the process so easy for us. We basically have a brand new home! So in love with every choice and design made. 100% recommend Hunter's Home Builders. After writing a review of the work by HUNTERHOMEBUILDERSllc I have to now come back on here and add to his quality of work after he pretty much destroyed my master shower putting in a new floor. so bad that I had to hire another contractor to retile and redo the floor. Darryl didn't bother to waterproof that floor. one of these days his corner cutting will catch up to him. Do not hire this company, they lie . I hired them to redo a shower floor in Aug. 2023. a horrible job. Now they are on social media the next-door app, claiming I sabotaged their work. These two are not honest. Hunter home builders should not even be allowed to work in this business or do any kind of construction work. if anyone hires them you are in for a world of hurt. they are both evil guys. read more

I'm actually not sure where some of these negative reviews came from. It seems like their talking about a different company. I have used this company for more than 15 years for my home upgrades. We replaced all of our windows with dual pane windows, and 10 years later we are totally satisfied. We had our guest bathroom remodeled, our (3/4 acre) backyard fence painted on both sides, and 4 Arcadia doors replaced successfully. No project goes 100% perfect, but with the very few challenges we encountered over the years, Mr. Hunter has been more than willing to make it right. I would recommend Hunter's Home Builders to anyone and have done so. I've received absolutely no complaints and many compliments. read more

We hired this company a few years ago after they convinced us to sign a contract on the spot so the "special price" from the Home and Garden Expo was still valid. This happened in January. We ordered a double french door and 3 double pane windows. The installation started in February. The windows were installed OK, but the french doors were a nightmare that lasted for almost 9 months! Daryl sent a number of people to try to "fix" what Bobby, the original installer did, but no one in that company seemed competent enough to do the work right until they called someone else who got the door to open and close somehow easily... in September!!! The door has a spot on the top that allows air to come into the house, so the dual pane windows are almost worthless. I had to put a touch of silicone on it to stop losing money. Since the door is not aligned correctly, the top part is scratched from the friction when you open it or close it. Needless to say, our relationship didn't end well since they treated us like idiots trying to convince us that there was nothing else that could be done and that we had to live with an almost impossible to open $2000 door. Now that the window screens are bent from the storms we've had, they refuse to honor the warranty to replace or to fix them. WE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HUNTER'S HOME BUILDERS TO OUR WORST ENEMY. read more

Always do research on a company before you hire them to do anything. That is a lesson I have learned from this whole experience. I hired them for a contracting job and honestly if it was possible to give them negative five stars on here it would be done. Not very friendly, and not willing to cooperate on any future problems that come up while working. I could probably do a better job on everything I hired them to do myself. I asked for a paint job inside, the final result consisted of missed spots, and cracks in the paint, i asked for a door frame installation, the wood is chipped and cracked in several places. It seems as though he comes up with things you MUST have done before he can continue, and charge you through the roof for them. Not to mention the large deposit he required up front. After confronting them with these problems they got very angry, and very hostile, looking online later, I found they have several lawsuits against them, this company is trouble, always do research before you hire someone because you can learn a lot from a simple internet search. read more

Their customer service is sub par. They will not go the extra mile, wanted to charge me $40 for a minor repair on a door they installed that would have taken them 5 minutes. Will not use them again. read more
