Terrible! Should have went with my instincts solely based off looks of this place. Ordered the chicken and shrimp combo. The shrimp was ok but the chicken was so bad it justifies the one star. I would not go eat here. The cashier is very rude and disrespectful. We work down the street and always ordered food here because we thought it was pretty good and served decent portions. But within the last two months two of my co- workers have ordered food and have received nothing but rude comments. One of them was told by the cashier that if he didn't like the way he did things that he shouldn't eat there anymore. You can't go wrong with hungry ninja. For the price to food ratio they give you, hungry ninja makes sure you dont go home hungry. The beef and chicken combo is what I usually order. People have metioned the shrimp isnt too bad. Being a fan of hungry Ninja in Santa Clarita I expected the same experience visiting the one on devenshire. It was a disappointment. The place looks extremely dirty. Tables and floors are filthy. The employees their don't have a clue what customer service is. They look very unhappy and unwelcoming. I LOVE this place! Huge portions and it's so good. The quality of the food is much better than the appearance of the restaurant. It's become a favorite to everyone I've shared this place with. I don't think the veggies they serve can really be considered as such as they are cabbage and carrots that are a lil over sauteed but the rest of the plate is so tasty! Two people can share one plate for sure! It's usually pretty hot in there so I wouldn't recommend eating there. Take it to go and you're ready for some great teriyaki beef, shrimp or chicken. My fav is the combo with some of each :) Oh! also I would ask for the sauce on the side as they are pretty generous with it on top of everything. This way you can control how much goes on it. Found out this place one day when walking from school and it Is great for a quick meal and fills you up fast. The regular proportions are big enough to feed 2 people and it's a reasonable price. Definitely coming back soon again:)! read more

This place has been my main spot for food during my high school years. The man and woman working there are so friendly. I haven't been there for years since I began college, but they still remember me even though I'm away. The food over there is really good with or without the extra condiments whether it may be sriracha, soy sauce, or even the extra sauce they ask you after the food is ready. The Hungry Ninja has such an amusing name, but besides the name, there is nothing amusing about this place. This is one of those teriyaki places where they chop off the meat of your choice into bite size pieces while cooking it on a flat iron stove, lay it over rice and drizzle teriyaki sauce over it. Chicken (dark meat) is tough and bland, the teriyaki sauce is watered down and tastes funky, and the rice is ...well ..rice, which is the only thing I could find on the plate that my inner hungry ninja would allow me to digest. The real kicker here is the ventilation. Since food are cooked in the open, the smoke and the smell crawls everywhere but mostly stays inside the establishment due to the poor, if not, non-existing ventilation. I had to sit on the table closest to the door, desperately wanting to open it, but I did not want to be rude, so I had to endure during my visit here in this smoky chamber. So if you want to avoid this nightmare that I went through, I'd say skip this. read more

So one of my co-workers talked me into going here and I am already regreting it. Although a lot of yelpers talked about the cleanliness I didnt really think it was that bad. The food on the other hand was Really bad ! Somebody else mentioned that the chicken meat seemed to have been cooked hours ago I can tell you that I believe it was actually cooked at least days before it is served. Upon arriving I did notice the big pile of already cooked meat sitting on the other than freshly cleaned grill, but that is not what REALLY bothered me. As we were getting ready to leave the cook brougt out a tub of chicken meat that had obviously been cooked and sitting in the fridge for god knows how long, and when i say tub i mean like a bussing the tables size tub ! She promptly dumped it on the grill and I swear it was enough meat to feed a decent sized military unit for a couple days ! I made the mistake of ordering the shrimp and chicken combo and the shrimp was absolutly inedible. As I looked at the shrimp when I got back to my desk at work i noticed that it wasnt cleaned at all. I mean i can handle a little black line but i swear they seemed to have gone out of their way to pick out the shrimp with the biggest poop trail running down the back side they could. And it was all TOUGH I mean chicken and shrimp jerky tough. I really don't get all the hate other reviewers have about this place. This is one of my top favorite teriyaki spots aside from sushi bars. But comparing the teriyaki from this place to that found in sushi bars is like comparing silver to gold. I really don't get the reviewer who gave this place one star...you get a LOT of hot, freshly prepared, tasty food for the money spent. I've gone to several other teriyaki places, and the portions are usually skimpy, or I get only a small amount of meat on top of a giant mountain of rice. Many don't serve their teriyaki with real vegetables, only a wimpy side salad of iceberg and watery dressing. And unlike most teriyaki places, they're generous with their sauce. Even the REGULAR size is more than enough, and usually feeds me twice, especially when I ask for extra vegetables. The reviewers who rated the food as "bland" and "tasteless" either waited until the food got cold, or they're born without tastebuds...or are one of those types of customers who try to con their way into getting more food for the same price or less. According to the staff, it unfortunately happens a lot..Customers who try to get freebies and extra food for the same price, then get max or threaten to complain when they're denied. Some even call the owner and make up fake complaints "because they can". What greedy bastards. And to the reviewer who complained of there being no sushi, for your information, this restaurant DID serve sushi once alongside teriyaki on their menu...their sushi was good too. I wanted to try every roll on the menu...but I never got a chance to. The business even had the same name, only adding "rock & roll" to their name (which you can still see in the shopping center sign marquee today. Unfortunately, business was so POOR, they closed their doors within a couple of months and the business got bought by the owners of the original hungry ninja in Valencia. I appreciate that they devein their shrimp now (in the beginning, they didn't!), and I wish they would serve hot tea and make their teriyaki available in bowl size. And the people who complained about how plain the place looks. The place isn't more decorative because...well, what do you expect for a restaurant that cheap? Linen and a maitre'd???
