Don't know why this bar and grill is listed as the Hungry Moose on Yelp. The sign out front says The Drunken Moose, which is more appropriate because this is not a diner although it is listed as such on Yelp. It is a bar and grill with the emphasis on bar. Not a place that you would take the family for a good breakfast. I ordered their Eggs Benedict. The English muffin was not heated, it was cold. The ham was thin sliced sandwich ham and it was refrigerator cold. The hollandaise sauce was lumpy. To top it off, the coffee tasted horrible. It must've been the cheapest brand they could possibly find. In a positive note the waitresses (who wear t-shirts that say The Drunken Moose) are pleasant and efficient. For a good breakfast, go to a real diner like the 50's Diner. The breakfast cost $15 and change. That is a lot but I would be comfortable paying you if I was getting a superb eggs Benedict instead of the horrible eggs Benedict they served me. read more

Don't come here if you're in any type of hurry. Went for lunch with a group of 8 and took nearly an hour for all of our party to get their orders. Had to sit at the bar as all tables were full, only given 2 menus for the entire party, had to ask for silverware, salt pepper etc. one sandwich ordered without tomato, yep came with tomato. After bringing 3 meals, it took them 10 minutes almost to bring 3 more and the last order was literally a salad and the waitress told her "I'm going to go make your salad now!" Lol 10 minutes later she had her salad. Food is average, nothing special, I ordered biscuits and gravy, gravy good, biscuits tough obviously sitting under a warmer somewhere. Not impressed with today's second chance for this place after the fiasco a few months ago. That time was a complete train wreck. We had taken my sister in law out for her birthday and it was such a fiasco that she ended up going home having eaten no dinner, but we still had to pay for everything and spent 2+ hours there, most of which was waiting for our food. SILs food never came after asking several times. Then they decided to tell us they were 'out' of the chili she ordered. Ordered something different only to wait another hour. When the BLT arrived the bacon was burnt and beyond edible. Waitress didnt 'seem to care. Posted about it on Facebook and the owner left a snarky comment, but failed to even remotely address the issue. So today my husband and I decided that maybe we owed them a second chance. It didn't go much better really. Waitress vanished after serving, I was facing nearly the entire dining room and she wasn't even seen at all. No offer of drink refill, was served burnt chips with my tenderloin. Did I mention we were the ONLY table other than two tables that were already finished eating when we sat down? The place was soon deserted as those tables left. So why were we ignored? I couldn't even let her know that the chips were burnt. A nonexistent waitress from the time she set our food in front of us until at least 10 minutes after we finished, burnt chips, empty drinks, but had no trouble taking our money. I mentioned the lack of drinks and that the chips were burned. Her response was simply 'yeah, they do that sometimes' ignoring the refill part of my comment. She might have earned a better tip if she'd bothered to check on us or perhaps offer a drink refill. Sorry your tip was a bit short, but your service fell extremely short. Food, meh! Very easy to get a seat on a Saturday night. Food was very very good and the service is likewise. Prices are way down low and speaking of things that are low, they never allowed our glasses to get below half filled. Their selection of alcoholic beverages is plentiful and the live music is just a cherry on top. Definitely recommend if you're able to stop by! read more

Weird place, I think they are having an identity crisis. If you are looking for huge portions of crap food this is your place. Menu looks like something that was made in the 80's. From the brief conversation with the owner you probably wouldn't be able to tell him anything he isn't already an expert with. Staff is horrible. They need to partner with a place that can help them with their staff training, recipes, and overall business. If you want to be a dive stay at the old place, if you want to update everything and look more classy, make your menu and recipes follow suit. Hopefully they get a clue, newness goes away fairly quickly. read more

Everything is quickly thrown together and overly greasy. But one experience sealed the deal for my girlfriend and I... We live across the street and stopped by for lunch one day and obviously weren't welcomed. The only lady working tried to talk us out of certain items because "it's a lot of food". When the food did arrive it was insanely greasy and nowhere near the quality I had experienced previously. Throughout lunch, the owner was shouting to her kid that they were closing in 45 minutes. Wouldn't be a big deal except that this place actually charges $2.50 extra for lettuce and $2.50 extra for tomato; items that would cost them about a dime. They included no condiments of any type with our order: no utensils, no packets of mayo, ketchup, or mustard, not even a paper napkin. A $14.00 sandwich maybe could include something more than a plastic bag and a Styrofoam box! When my partner arrived for pick-up, he was not acknowledged by the cashier/bartender? for several minutes although she was doing nothing except chitchatting with customers at the bar. Ordered breakfast which is supposed to be the specialty, and it was massively disappointing. The biscuits and gravy was completely flavorless- like so much so, that I wonder if they normally make it that way, or if someone had just completely screwed it up that day. I'm not even sure there was ANY sausage in it. I've bought generic store brand canned sausage gravy that tasted 10x better. "Scrambled eggs" was an also flavorless, generic flat rectangle of what was probably "egg" from a carton. Bacon was good quality but very unevenly cooked. The saving grace was the home fries. I ordered them crispy, so I don't know how they are normally cooked, but mine were perfectly crispy and very well seasoned. I guess maybe they ran out of seasoning making the potatoes and couldn't put it on anything else?? Overall not even remotely worth the more than $12 they charge. A real shame! Based on reviews, things seem to have gone drastically downhill since they moved to the new location. read more

I have been mulling it over all day as to whether I was going to write this however, obviously, if you read this I decided to "Post Review". Went to the Moose for breakfast this morning. Arrived at 7.30 and there were about 5 customers there, max. We ordered our food: 3 side orders of bacon, 2 eggs, 1 order of potatoes, 2 orders of toast and 2 orders of coffee. About 30 mins later we finally got our food after our server informed us it was taking time to "make the potatoes crispy" as ordered. The food arrived. Following breakfast the check arrived: $41.00. Now, I realize that food costs have gone up however I am not sure how 3 rashers of bacon can cost $5.95 and 2 eggs, $5.90. Yes, the. bacon was good but it ain't THAT good. Add to that a 3% "Credit Card Fee" despite using a Debit Card and of course a sales Tax of 11% we are now up to $46.74 before tip for a simple breakfast for 2 people. The evening before my wife and I ate at a local Chinese restaurant, had 3 beers, Crab Rangoon starter and 2 full dishes which we just polished off as leftovers all for $48.84 before tip. We love taking a drive on Sunday & trying new breakfast places. This is a small diner, nothing fancy--but everything was delicious! My boyfriend and I both got a skillet breakfast and a pancake. The potatoes were under cooked, the sausages were dry,as if the had been sitting in a warmer as they were hard. The toast was so dry it was almost inedible. No taste to anything. My mother, sister, niece and I were out in Peoria doing some Christmas shopping, and we're on the look out for somewhere to re-energize(food and a drink). Found this place on yelp, sent out a question if they had bloody Mary's and got a response quickly. By the way yes the answer is yes, they have a full bar by the way. Went in grabbed a booth and Andrea helped us. At first she was on her own, but she kept a smile the whole time. The Bloodys were good, I love spicy and my sister thought she did too but it was a bit much for her so be careful. The food..... ordered an appetizer platter and honestly was pretty full when the meal appeared. Tenderloins are made in house, fresh cut fries, and the patty melt my mom has looked amazing. We left stuffed and with to go boxes. We were Andreas last table and even though she had been called back into work for a few hours she never once rushed us. This first time I came to this place, I was blown away. I went with a large group of friends, so I had the chance to try some different items. First, the portions are huge!
