I went there a few weeks ago. Yelp was hyping this place up so I figured might as well check it out since I was passing through Peoria. Walked in and sat down, there were no waiters present so me & my friends were confused but we waited until someone came to us. It was all good though because a server finally arrived at our table after we waited 15-20 minutes. I got Bosco Sticks as an appetizer and they were great, cheesy bready goodness. For the main course got the Bundaberg Burger with a side of French Fries. The burger was delicious and so were the fries. In conclusion, the food was fantastic no complaints when it comes to that department. But when it came to service, I will admit it was annoying having to wait a good 15-20 minutes for us to get served (place was somewhat busy so understandable) but it didn't hurt the overall experience I had at this restaurant. I got a simple grilled cheese that was pretty good, my boyfriend ordered a burger and he liked it as well, but the texture of the meat was not for me a little too soft. Stopped in before a movie for a quick lunch and was overly impressed. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. The restaraunt is smaller than what we expected but it was mid-afternoon so we were served very quickly; unique decor and chill environment. I had the bison burger and my fiancé had the rootail sandwich and we split an order of fries. We loved both sandwiches, both were cooked just as we ordered and delicious. The real winner to me though were the french fries; the ideal type that our hand-cut and perfect for dipping in vinegar if you enjoy that version! Great locally owned bar with not your average menu. They have beef burgers but also an ostrich burger, tuna steak sandwiches and juicy GRILLED (not fried) naked chicken strips. I think they also have a portobello sandwich for the veggie lovers. There are buckets of peanut shells on the tables and yes, peanut shells on the floor, so if you have allergies, beware. I had mild wings and bosco sticks for appetizers. The wings were very good. Deep fried till crisp then dipped in a sauce that tasted very similar to Frank Red Hot. Avoid the bosco sticks. Mine were deep fried and hot on the outside but the cheese inside was still frozen. The main course was the kakudu burger with a side of their signature hand cut fries. The burger described in one word: Delicious! It is what I would call a two hand burger, meaning it is quite large. The staff doesn't skimp on the meat and you better bring your appetite. The fries are very good but nothing special that would leave me wanting more. The value of the food is outstanding. I would recommend Khaki Jack's to anyone that wants a casual dining experience with good filling burgers that isn't going to make you go broke. read more

I went here the other day while visiting Peoria. I pulled out my phone to do a Yelp check-in, and I couldn't believe that this place wasn't on here. My family has been going here for years, and I think it deserves a review on Yelp. Khaki Jacks is a small Australian themed bar in a small strip mall in Peoria. If you didn't know it was there you would probably miss it. Don't worry about being on your absolute best behavior here (but still be civil). This is a very laid back place. On every table there is a beer bucket full of peanuts in the shell, and you are encouraged to throw the shells on the floor. On St. Pats day only two beers were on tap, Fosters (a staple for this place) and Guiness. There are many other beers available in a bottle. The food: Khaki Jacks serves something you'll probably be hard pressed to find most places and I highly recommend at least trying: an Ostrich burger, which is of coarse with the Australian theme is ground Ostrich. They also serve hamburgers, and grilled chicken burgers. You're going to pay a little more for a burger here, but they are a pretty good size and always worth it.Chicken strips come grilled not fried. Their fries have the skin on and are fried a dark golden brown, they also have salads on their menu. I would recommend Khaki Jacks for a laid back night out. At this point i have been to Khaki Jacks twice. The first time i really didn't plan on doing a review until i took the first bite of my burger and knew right then that i found my go to burger place.There is just something about the basic burger setup with a slight twist like the Jalapeno bacon, instead of look we have so many random things to put on your burger like some other burger places. And last but not least the melted cheddar cheese.If you like potato skins you need to try the Down Under. Aussie Fries- we got the (bowl) to share among the table. The fries are really good and they pack that bowl full of those delicious fries. Bugalug-Grilled Portabella Mushroom Cap onions and green peppers topped w/mozzarella cheese.This was my wife's main coarse and she ordered it without the peppers and onions. On his first bite i seen his face light up and he was shaking his head up and down (that is his way of saying "ya it's good"). I have been to Khaki Jacks on a week day at an off time when it was really slow and i have been on a saturday night when the place was jam packed. The service both times was great.
