Another longtime item off my travel list. Diners. The very word is evocative of delicious food, friendly staff and cheap food. Does Bartonville Diner, after trying to come here for the better part of a decade strike those notes? Yes! My dad and I wanted to grab food and I was tired of our usual stomping grounds so I suggested we both try something new. We rolled in at 7am on a Sunday to try and beat the church crowds. The first thing we ordered was some coffee and water while we half-looked at the menu while cracking jokes and catching up on recent events. On my way here, I knew I wanted some french toast. It's been a long time since I had any and nothing was going to stop me from getting it. My dad perused the menu online and knew what he wanted ahead of time, too. We quickly placed our orders and got back to chatting up a storm. My dad ordered the Country Fried Steak Skillet and I got the Thick French Toast. The food took a bit longer than expected to come out despite how quiet it was there but that wasn't a problem as we were busy telling each other terrible jokes and sipping decent coffee. Once the food came out, we dug in. The french toast was pretty plain, no real sprinkling of powdered sugar or that soft buttery dollop on top. No biggie as it was still good and it had a nice crisp crunch on the edges that I love and can't replicate at home at all. My dad's skillet looked good but also kind of goofy with a slice of cheese just slapped on top and only half melted. The food was really good and the coffee was decent. Not the best diner coffee I've had but after two cups, I can say it was serviceable without any sugar or cream added in. My dad said he enjoyed his meal but has a preference for a certain style of country fried steak and this wasn't quite it. But we both left with empty plates and full bellies with smiles on our faces. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday morning. If you want to check out the Bartonville Diner, they are only open til 3pm, so make sure you plan ahead due to their limited availability. When I started my travel list, Bartonville Diner was added around 2014 or 2015. Well, after 8-9 years, I finally got to cross it off my list as many failed attempts to try it out. The time it took to try it out wasn't due to the lack of trying. Many plans were made to come here but life happens and plans can go sideways. I'm finally happy to have tried it out and hope I can drop in with my friends that live nearby before too long.

Cool looking menu. Their coffee was good.

Getting windshield time across the US is a great way to experience just how wonderful and creative people in the US have been and still are. Frequently, on a big driving day, we'll want a good breakfast for dinner. Hence the Bartonville Diner in Peoria. They serve breakfast all day. For those who differ from me, I saw plenty of other great looking plates of Midwestern fare walk by... fried walleye, goulash, ribs, sandwiches and burgers, meatloaf, chicken, and more. The servings were huge, so people had bags of takeaway boxes too. For people who ordered dinner, a small basket of fresh baked bread was also delivered to the table. My sis-in-law ordered the Popeye omelette. It has spinach, bacon and American cheese and came with normal choices like hash browns and toast vs fries and pancakes. I ordered the German omelette. It had onion, ham, green peppers, potatoes, and Swiss cheese in it. I had them grill the veg. The potatoes were from the hash browns. My choices for the sides were hash browns and toast. Everything was very tasty, but it would have been better if real cheeses were used. There were a couple of items that had cheddar in them. I think our omelettes had the basic "cheese food" version of American and Swiss cheeses. The staff was great. They were attentive but not overly so. The diner was clean and orderly also. From the outside, I could tell from the structure of the building it has once been a fast food facility. That was more than 20 years ago. Both the outside and inside had been remodeled to look more like a real restaurant. One cool thing was that we could see over the counter into the prep area. Everything looked clean and efficient. I would eat here again. I bet the meat loaf and walleye are fantastic. All the plates walking by looked delicious.

    Steak and eggs

Delicious, best steak and eggs you will get in the area, Definitely recommend! We have tried several breakfast locations and this will be our go to!!! Their onion rings are sooo yummy!

Before we were seated my husband and I were talking to the owner. As we waited for our table we stood there talking to her about all the different foods at the restaurant and what sells the most of in regards to meals and even the desserts. I thoroughly enjoyed my time waiting for my table just as much as I did the food. I ordered the Topless Beach Burger and of course we had to try the garlic bread cheese curds and they were quite delicious! The strawberry lemonade was on point too I asked for extra strawberries and they spoiled me on that! Oh I almost forgot we also tried the toffee butter cake because the owner told me that that was the best dessert on the menu and she wasn't wrong , it was mouth-watering! I absolutely loved being able to sit at the best table on the the deck (in the corner) and being able to watch the boats and jet skis out out on the water. The weather was absolutely perfect it was so beautiful out! Highly recommend going and maybe even calling ahead for seating if that's available.

However the fans were broken and according to the server they've been broken since winter, meaning they've had TIME to fix it. This made it very hot and without curtains or anything of the sort, even the umbrellas in the picture were not present. There were flies EVERYWHERE, which the fans WOULD'VE helped with. I would give five stars if this problem that's existed for a while had been fixed.

And we highly recommend a visit, especially if you are familiar with the brand! Like the BloNo location there are at least two entrances - the one further west is for a good sized hosting/ordering/waiting area while the one closest to the ballpark has more direct access to the bar area, but is way more space-restricted and will likely be a traffic jam on game days. If you're looking for a table, both entrances open to the rest of the cool 'industrial chic' dining areas in the form of a large street-level open concept dining area and a good sized split-level (up 3-4 steps) back room - which despite having wide entrances that make it feel part of the larger space, likely can easily be cordoned-off for private functions. One visit in and the lady and I (plus our friend and former Ptown bartender) can say that the food was every bit the same top-quality, large portion, methodically cooked and creatively accented sandwiches and wraps, served in old school pie pans with red-white check paper liners, that we are used to. The weekend special shaved ribeye Cali burrito was particularly epic, cementing what seems to be the first of the 3 or 4 things that keep the crowds coming back. The second thing is the creativity and discernment applied to bar side - in the form of the beer menu, which is initially focused on bottles/cans since they just received the liquor license the day before our arrival. Despite this there was a good mix of 'domestics' and at least 20 quality craft options from 6 or 8 fantastic breweries representing a good variety of styles but leaning like those at the original location - that is, a few more IPAs and 'sweet sours'. They also maintain a thoughtful and inventive cocktail list and will NO DOUBT start building up the whiskey/bourbon collection in the coming weeks. Although having high quality and fairly compensated employees helps immensely, the last thing that really drives their business is something we often say three times - location... In this case, it's literally less than a block from home plate. Easy to find. Easy to love. We'll certainly be back!

I do not drink alcohol and many places here in the Midwest do not serve sweet tea. I have brought my own sweet tea countless times to restaurants and no one cared... that is until Bellevue Tap. I sat down and the first thing I said was I was here for wings. The lady noticed my tumbler and asked what was in it. I said sweet tea. She then told me I couldn't have that in there. I did not see a sign anywhere that was posted about not bringing outside drinks especially one they did not have on hand. I guess she thought I was going to pick the wings over my sweet tea and well, she was wrong. I got up and left. Before I wrote this review, I googled to see if I was at fault for bringing in my own drink. The only thing I could find was the restaurant could ask me to leave. But I told her I was going to order wings. I thought if I wanted to give them money, they wouldn't care. Like I said, I have lived in the Midwest for 4 years and brought in my own sweet tea to countless places. No one else cared and I even asked if it was ok several times before. I can understand if I was not going to order food or they had sweet tea on hand on why they would tell me not to bring it in. The lesson here...Don't mess with this Bama Boy and his sweet tea! Review Visit: March 2nd, 2016…read more If there is an earthquake, this place will be playing 52 Card Pickup. My girlfriend had mentioned Tyroni's quite a few times as a place she wanted to try and we finally found the perfect time to go. It was a cold day and we needed something to warm us up. What better than pizza to warm you up and put a smile on our face. We arrived to an empty parking lot. I was certain the place was closed for the day. As we milled about outside trying to see if the place was open, I snapped the selfie above and then we proceeded to try and enter the restaurant. As we were walking in, a waitress was coming up to us to ask if we were okay. We said we were, we were just trying to figure out if the place was open or not. She said we just missed a crowd and had the place to ourselves. Perfect! My girlfriend and I like similar things, so it wasn't too hard to pick out a pizza. The unexpected thing happened when we went to place our order. They had a special of buy one, get one half off. We took them up on the offer and we both ordered our own pizza instead of splitting one. This let us get exactly what we wanted without compromise. Perfect! We did order some breadsticks, so we munched on those while we waited. As with most appetizers, this was a bad ideas a breadsticks tend to be a bit filling. The waitress slid our two pizzas in front of us as we regretted eating so much of our appetizer. We did leave room for pizza, thankfully. Having two full pizzas placed in front of us meant that we were going to go back home in a food coma, for sure. Slowly but surely we worked on the pizza. We sampled each others pizza and agreed that getting our own was the right choice. I liked hers but was not food envious for once. The pizzas were pretty tasty. I don't remember being amazed by it but at the same time, it was exactly what I expected for the price. That happy middle ground between frozen store bought pizza and gourmet. And you know what, that was perfect for what we were needing on this day. We actually came back a few weeks later to get more pizza but declined the second pizza for half off. We had too many left overs from the first visit that we knew better this time around. The second trip was equally as decent as the first one. We knew what we were expecting and Tyroni's delivered on just that. There is a cool aspect to Tyroni's. They have a ton of playing cards embedded in the ceiling. I am sure I asked our waitress about it before but the meaning behind it is long forgotten. Still, a pretty neat thing to see while sitting. Though with my short attention span, I found myself getting lost in looking at all the cards. Tyroni's is a great stop if you need some pizza at a decent price and a decent taste.
