Ordered a huge order for delivery. Everything was fresh, clean, perfectly cooked, attractive... but had no flavor at all. I'm sure they get criticized from both sides: "It's too salty. There's no salt. It's too spicy. There's no spice." But I personally did not get what I ordered: extra spicy garlic chicken to help me recover from the flu. I neither smelled nor tasted any garlic at all. Egg Drop Soup is also good when you are ill. It was cooked with care but had little flavor, so I added powdered ginger. The steamed vegetables were gorgeous but the sauce was separate and weak. I think the best dish was Chicken Teriyaki Skewers. They had no teriyaki flavor but I dipped them in another bland sauce. I ordered the egg soup, the General Tso Chicken with fried rice from the dinner special that included an egg roll and also the Pork Lo Mein. All the food arrived nicely packed and I also received two fortune cookies. The General Tso Chicken had a very generous amount of chicken, the chicken pieces were savory. No sesame seeds or green onion. My dish was served with fried rice and two pieces of broccoli. They never disappoint me specially when I'm in a rush I can always count on them for a good dinner. They are fast and very reliable. Good quality Chinese food and full of flavor. I had the Mongolian chicken. I really enjoyed it with onions and mushrooms and a nice sweet sauce. I got the quart this time didn't go with the combination dinner and I also got their good chicken lo mein. Although they do a lot of takeout (and delivery), they do have four booths and one large long table that seats 6+ people inside. The restaurant is located in the middle of a strip of stores facing Sheridan street. There a small area of parking spots right out front-- if you get lucky. They have very reasonably priced lunch combos -- for only $7.95 (dinner is $9.95). All come with a choice of rice -- white, brown, or fried. And a vegetable spring roll. I got their #14 -- cashew chicken with white rice. The spring roll had a nice crusty fried wrapper, but the veggies inside were mushy. I'd also bought an eggroll -- with pork and veggies -- that I ate later. The regular eggroll was much much better than the spring roll. The cashew chicken was good. There were a lot of cashew nuts on top of pieces of chicken and an (unusual) mix of vegetables -- mushrooms, zucchini, and a few green scallions -- in a brown sauce. It's a fairly plain dish to begin with, but the different veggies helped. Plus I added some duck sauce. The portion I received was large enough to have my leftovers for dinner. My local go to fast Chinese. I've recently been going out west for incredible dim sum and Chinese however sometimes just too far. I ordered the shrimp egg foo Yong and pork fried rice along with spring rolls. The food was fresh, extremely tasty and piping hot. The spring rolls were crispy, great flavor and nice texture. The only reason I don't give a 5 star is they really need to clean up the place. Also, they have cut down the container size thus the portion is smaller. We got delivery tonight for dinner and we were pretty satisfied with Hunan Wok! It is not as good as what we are used to (New Jersey / New York area) but for our region I would say they did a great job! We got the cream cheese wontons for an appetizer and they were delicious and perfectly cooked. They may have had a bit too much cream cheese but I would say it's better than not having enough. I got the sweet and sour chicken and I really appreciated the way they sent my dish. Sauce on the side! This is the 4 time we have DoorDashed hunan.. they are the closest we can find to what we are use to back in Massachusetts. It is 10 miles from our house and even when the dasher is stuck in traffic our food has always been hot. As usual the food was good. Today we did find the pork lo mien. The good reviews on Google Maps (4.1*), however, led me to give it a try, and I thought my order of steamed chicken/shrimp with mixed veg and brown sauce was as good as I've had it anywhere. They have the menu posted on the window so you have an idea what you want before going in, and masks are required. A variety of dishes under $20 (excluding the party tray dishes) such as: * Appetizers/soups/sides * Fried rice/pad thai/vegetarian * Chef's specialty/egg foo young * Chicken, beef, shrimp dishes * Lunch & dinner combo platters I placed my order of steamed dumplings and a shrimp roll. Wait time was 10 minutes. There was only one female behind the counter and she was holding down the fort in Jet Li speed...I mean girl was fast...she was taking orders off the phone, taking care of the customers who came in to place their orders, packed the orders, and handed them out. Ordered from this place once. I wanted orange chicken but white meant only, which they told me they could do but it would cost extra. I did not mind paying extra for all white meat as it is not an unusual upcharge. However, when I got home to eat my food, I cut into the chicken pieces and realized they basically had NO chicken. Every piece of the orange chicken was all batter with only a tiny little shred of chicken meat in the middle. The meat was honestly invisible. Whoa - this place is actually good. And they have brown rice. (Because white rice is really bad for you. Refined carbs and refined sugar = death and cancer. Hunan Wok is probably underrated a bit because the lady they've got on the phone can be a little bossy-frustrated-and-curt-sounding, but once you meet her in person you realize she probably didn't mean it so don't take it personal. Food is a solid 4, maybe 4.5 for Amer-Chinese takeout. No surprises here, and they definitely do not mess around. These are well-seasoned woks handled with solid wok technique behind the counter. Bravo. AND they have brown rice for no extra charge (at least for now!) If you order well, you will get more (and better and hotter) food than any Panda Express - and I appreciate Panda Express. You may even become a Hunan Wok regular once you see and hear the masterful wok skills going on behind the scenes here. I ordered the honey chicken which came with a side of honey sauce that I poured on the chicken. The sauce itself was flavorful but the chicken was soggy and not crispy. Also the rice was very bland not good! And the egg roll they gave me was small and looked like a spring roll, it was hard you could tell it was sitting out for awhile. Hello, I've eaten from this location a number of times and have never really had a bad experience --that is until now. I called to place an order for delivery and was told it would be about an hour. I was completely fine with this as long as my food arrived hot. As promised, my food did show up in an hour. I ordered the hot and sour soup--it arrived like warm. Poured it in a bowl and added the crunchy noodles provided I took my first taste and spit it out. The soup was bland but the crunchy noodles were completely flat and stale. The egg rolls I ordered were soggy and greasy. And the main course (general tso's chic ken) was chewy and filled in by an exorbitant amount of just fried breading. We just threw the food out. I was a restaurant manager for ten years-- I know how the industry works. I will find a new place to order from next time. Very disappointing. read more
