I was in the area at dinner time and discovered Hunan Wok tucked into the corner of the Sheridan Square Plaza. After checking out the excellent reviews I decided to order food to celebrate Lunar New Year. The lady at the register taking the orders is a gem. She is so friendly and welcoming to everyone who enters. The menu features Chinese American favorites including wonton soup, egg rolls, fried dumplings, boneless pork spareribs, roast pork fried rice, sweet and sour pork, pepper steak, and shrimp in lobster sauce. I decided on the chicken with vegetables, beef and broccoli, eggrolls, and wonton soup. Everything I tried was great. While waiting for my food people came in and out regularly giving this restaurant the feel of a beloved neighborhood spot. You can eat at one of the tables in the no frills dining room or take it to go as I did. Either way you are sure to love the food. read more

Your first thoughts when you enter is this is not a place to dine inside the restaurant. It looks like a business that is designed for takeout. And while waiting for my order, that is all that I saw. My order of pepper steak (steak was extremely tender and tasty), spring rolls, and wontons was delivered quickly and it was a really enjoyable meal I ate out of my hotel room. The lady in the front of the restaurant was extremely nice and efficient with what she was doing. Prices reflected what I was accostomed to paying a few years ago. The food is outstanding. Fresh , tasty , crisp and piping hot. I had house special egg foo yung, fried rice and spring roll. The egg foo yung was loaded with vegetables, pork, shrimp and chicken, very crisp and fresh. The spring rolls were delicious, crispy and extremely fresh ingredients. Both dishes were right off the wok!! In fact, the aroma overtakes the entire kitchen and dining area. We asked for our meals spicy, your mouth will water with the array of spices. Spring rolls - i could have had a dozen! After a day of traveling we arrived at our hotel and we were hungry! The front desk recommended Hunan Wok and the food was amazing. The dishes were fresh, flavorful, and hot, with every special request taken care of, like making the garlic chicken not so spicy. The pork egg rolls were great, and the three dishes (garlic chicken, General Tso's chicken, and chicken and vegetables) were made even better with the addition of fried rice. Hello, I ordered this order from Uber eats first of all inside of the order. I was supposed to get the honey chicken fried hard so it wasn't and it was old. You could see it. I had a vegetable lo mein and taste really bad.Oily and mushy like that it again I was craving Chinese food and again I'm disappointed my Uber delivery driver when I went to go pick up my FOOD they had a dog in the vehicle. Mixed review. Most of the food was good, however, the chicken chow mein was really just chicken and onions and was utterly lacking in flavor. Also, I've ordered from here before and remember celery for sure, but not this time. I seem to remember other veggies, but not positive on that, but celery was definitely included and it would have made all the difference. Soup was flavorful , but scallions were in the pic that was listed on the website that I saw. Sad they weren't there. Very disappointed and this isn't the first time that food was lacking in flavor, which means that I might not b ordering from them again. (This was approximately my 10th time ordering with food lacking in flavor approx 3x). Plus, I made sure to ask for soy, which wasn't included and I really needed it because the c chow mein was utterly flavourless.
