The Asian hand painted folding paper fans along the walls and the red Chinese New Year lanterns hanging from the ceiling added a nice touch to the subtle decor. We were sat immediately at a booth of our choice. The dining room was empty of customers with an eerie silence. The server greeted us with the standard duck sauce and golden crispy crackers and the traditional metal tea kettle and cups. I slurped down my wanton soup that had plump wanton and not salty thin broth. The General Tso Chicken with fried rice was a huge portion and tasty. The fried eggroll had a crisp outer shell and was dense with veggies, although it seemed more like an oversized spring roll than a traditional Chinese egg roll, but the superb taste overshadowed the petite size. As were eating, I still could not stop noticing that we were the only customers at lunchtime 12pm during the work week. I will take great food and attentive service any day over a loud packed dining room but could this be the end of a strong fifty-six year run to end the China Lane legacy? I sure hope not. As the bill arrived, I noticed a portion at the bottom with suggested tip percentages to merely place a checkmark in a box - not bad, just unique. The gender assigned bathroom was clean with a dominant red door and gray marble-like tile. The toilet rules written on the front of the tank made me chuckle and added some unexpected humor to a traditional Chinese restaurant (see pic and read).

I've been here multiple times and I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and you can tell they genuinely care about the food they're serving. Everything tastes fresh and handmade, especially the dumplings. The wrappers are perfectly tender, the fillings are flavorful, and nothing tastes mass produced or rushed. The space itself is clean, simple, and comfortable.... exactly what you want for a casual dumpling spot. Service is efficient, orders come out hot, and the quality is consistent every single visit. We ordered the beef soup dumplings and the chive, pork, and shrimp steamed dumplings. Both were excellent especially if you pair it with the chili crisp oil and dumpling sauce. If you're craving real, comforting dumplings and want to support a local spot that does things right, this place is absolutely worth stopping into. A true hidden gem that delivers every time.

This is one of the chain shops scattered across Florida, offering both take-out and dine-in. You order from the machine on the left side of the counter. The restaurant is bright and clean. The service is good: the young man asked us if we'd like some black vinegar and hot water (he said yes to me, bringing in my tea, when the restaurant had only one other couple): Thanks. I'm wondering if the creator(s) are from northeast China: the fillings, especially the dumplings, are very solid, and the wontons are chubby. An Asian woman is making the dumplings behind the glass window. The small logo on their black plastic tableware is thoughtful and appreciated.

When we arrived and parked, we were a bit disillusioned with the outside look. The sign above the roof was faded and it had missing letters. The windows had a metallic tinted film that made it impossible to see the inside of the restaurant...so the curb appeal of the place was 1/10. Really. A hole-in-the wall. When we walked in, we were greeted nicely by a man and we got a nice table by the entrance.. We saw the tanks full of fish and crabs moving and swimming right by our table. The menu was really authentic...they had many of the dishes you could not find at other places like frog legs, squab, sea cucumber, quail, etc. We ordered two BBQ roasted squabs, a wonton soup with no noodles and a shrimp and scallop vegetable dish. All the food was outstanding....really good tasting, really well made. The big bowl of steamed rice was complementary. If you are looking for Authentic Chinese, give Dragon City a try. They also sell fried rice, chow mein, chow fun, mei fun and other more well known dishes for those that are not so adventurous.

It's usually empty and many people order delivery or to go, but I always dine in the restaurant. Today our server was nice and very attentive, but one of the managers/owners was a bit rude. I asked if we could be seated near an outlet as I needed to keep my laptop on, and she said there were none. I found an outlet against a wall that was visible from our table and I went over to charge it. She went over and nearly unplugged it, but after realizing that there was no reason for me not to charge my device she let it go. Our food was made to order so it was delicious and nice and hot. We ordered the cream cheese rangoons to share and each ordered a combination platter which comes with with an egg roll, choice of soup, entree, white or pork fried rice and ice cream. We both opted for Wonton soup and pork fried rice but for the entrees, my friend ordered the chicken and broccoli which she did not enjoy much (we have had it in the past and it was good, but I guess they are inconsistent with their recipe), and I ordered the Szechuan chicken for the first time which I thought was delicious. In the end, we were both too full for ice cream and at first our server said we could switch it for an egg roll, but then after a while 5 minutes she came back and told us that the manager said no substitutions. I think it was because she was annoyed with me for charging my laptop against her wishes.. Overall I would give this visit 2.5 stars, but normally I would rate this place 3.5 or 4 stars because usually the food is great and the staff is nice... Today was an exception but I will still be back.

It was empty. But it slowly got more diners, with about 5 tables filled before we left. Service was fine but the waitress who took our order barely spoke English and it was difficult getting answers about items on the menu. Nevertheless, we ordered pan-fried dumplings, the three meat combo plate with roast duck, BBQ roast pork, and crispy pork. We also got a seafood platter with salt and pepper shrimp, squid, and scallops. The latter didn't have much taste. We couldn't even taste any salt and pepper. The dish came on a bed of shredded raw cabbage. There was no rice. When I asked, the server (a different one from the woman who took our order) brought us a small bowl. They had forgotten to put the rice on the plate. (The dish is advertised as being served on a bed of rice.) The meat platter was decent. Although the duck skin needed to be crispier, the pork skin was very crispy. The BBQ roast pork was tasty, boasting a nice char siu flavor. The few strands of Chinese broccoli that was served with the dish was cold, as if it was added from the refrigerator. We enjoyed the pan-fried dumplings. They seemed to be homemade. One appetizer, two entrees, tax, and tip was $66.

Located off Stirling Road (accessible from both directions), Hong's BBQ sits amongst the various shops that make up the Stirling Place Plaza. If you're here based off your search for food around the Seminole Hard Rock Casino and Hotel Hollywood, you've got the same idea as us and this review is for you; Hong's is essentially "around the corner" from the casino and a great option if you want to venture off the resort for some great food. Recommended by a source for reliable eats, we decided to give Hong's BBQ a go before our trip back to Tampa. We found that Hong's BBQ has some great authentic Canto-style Chinese cuisine. Not big by any means (you can't necessarily host a large banquet style gathering here), there is definitely ample seating - mainly suited for parties of 4. We came around 1pm on a Sunday and had no issues being seated - although the restaurant maintained a steady flow of customers in and out of the restaurant. There are a few larger round tables scatter throughout with the typical lazy-susan setup in the center that may accommodate larger parties of 6-8. If you're not interested in dining-in, there is definitely a "butcher's" station/display that is set up toward the back of the dining section. The setup within the restaurant definitely brought back nostalgic memories of Chinatown restaurants and their racks of char-siu, roast duck, pig, and soy chicken hanging under the heating lamps. From here, you can order cuts of the aforementioned meats by weight without the "extras." The menu offered a great variety of Canto-style cuisine; I would argue that it's hard to go wrong with a choice based on their selections they have available. We ordered two noodle soups (roast duck and char siu), along with an order of the beef chow fun, which were all outstanding. Beginning with the noodle soups, you have 3 different noodle options; I opted for the flat rice noodles which I instantly craved upon identifying it as a choice. The noodles were cooked to al-dente perfection that had a good amount of "bounce" while easy to chew. The broth was also on a whole other level that warrants praise in itself. The beef chow fun is also a must - yes, I recognize that this may be considered a "basic" choice, but Hong's BBQ makes this the right way. The service wasn't poor - let's just say that it falls in line with the coveted 3-star Asian restaurant rating (If you know, you know). The servers knew how and when to deliver. All in all, Hong's BBQ is a great place to dine with your family. I would recommend this to anyone in or travelling to this area.

I had one from another Chinese restaurant a week ago and it was more medium spicy (my preference) and had mushrooms and more ingredients- which was better. Also ordered bourbon chicken, pork lo mein and fried rice (white rice comes with dish). The sauce on chicken was not great tasting...and the chicken was dry and hard to chew. I would not order again. As a comparison, the best bourbon chicken I have had comes from Chicken Kitchen but none are in Hollywood. I did not like the lo mein. This item can vary from different places but it just was not satisfying. Also, I like my noodles long and these were chopped shorter. The white rice and fried rice were fine. If one dish is off, it's not a big deal but when three items you paid for were not great.... I think we had tried this restaurant a few weeks ago and what we ordered at that time was ok. There are many Chinese restaurants in this area, so this may not be our favorite. When there is this much competition- you really have to be on your game!!
