I was very impressed by the food everything came so fresh and delicious I ordered the beef lo mein, egg roll which my mother said was delicious and very crispy :), crab Rangoon, hot and sour soup, pork fried rice which my mother and I were impressed by it !! The old Chinese restaurant has stood the test of time in Hollywood for fifty-six years. The interior displays traditional Chinese ambiance with a stone buddha statue guarding the host counter upon entry. The Asian hand painted folding paper fans along the walls and the red Chinese New Year lanterns hanging from the ceiling added a nice touch to the subtle decor. We were sat immediately at a booth of our choice. The dining room was empty of customers with an eerie silence. The server greeted us with the standard duck sauce and golden crispy crackers and the traditional metal tea kettle and cups. I slurped down my wanton soup that had plump wanton and not salty thin broth. The General Tso Chicken with fried rice was a huge portion and tasty. The fried eggroll had a crisp outer shell and was dense with veggies, although it seemed more like an oversized spring roll than a traditional Chinese egg roll, but the superb taste overshadowed the petite size. As were eating, I still could not stop noticing that we were the only customers at lunchtime 12pm during the work week. I will take great food and attentive service any day over a loud packed dining room but could this be the end of a strong fifty-six year run to end the China Lane legacy? I sure hope not. As the bill arrived, I noticed a portion at the bottom with suggested tip percentages to merely place a checkmark in a box - not bad, just unique. We had a disappointing lunch here. My husband's won ton soup was the best part of his meal. I got the eggroll with my lunch special. The outer wrapper was good and crisp. Inside was mushy -- like it had been frozen and thawed too often. My husband ordered the lemon chicken. The chicken was breaded and fried and served on a bed of lettuce. He said it was crunchy. It came with lime slices. The sauce was served on the side. It was overly thick and limey -- not lemony. My pork with mixed vegetables was just okay. It wasn't consistently warm. We were in the area doing errands and decided to give this place a try. Parking right in front and easy entry. We were seated in a booth and looked over the menu to decide what to have for lunch. I chose the Lemin Chicken with white rice and Won Ton soup. My dish arrived with LIME slices on top of the chicken. The chicken was nice and crunchy and sat on a bed of shredded lettuce. Bland flavorless food. Ordered lunch special which included Kung Po Chicken and pork fried rice as well as an egg roll. The kung po had zero flavor. Thank goodness they included condiments which I liberally added so I could eat the meal. The fried rice only had pork and rice and was also extremely bland. I saw this location near me and decided to order for takeout. When we arrived, we noticed it was a family style dining with takeout many.we order to go and enjoyed our meal home. We had a chicken wings, special lo mein special fried rice, chicken tso and a few other plates. Everything we had was delicious and the place was packed. We enjoyed our meal so much that we came a second time to dine in this time we had some other things like a boneless ribs, roasted duck and dumplings and once again everything was delicious and the dining service was fantastic . This place is LEGIT! As soon as I picked up the order and it was provided in a fortune cookie card board box, I knew it had to be good. I grew up eating south Florida Chinese food and China Lane is dead on with the flavor. If you're not from this area, it may not be your jam. If you are, this is the place for you! The wonton soup was out of this world!!! It was dark in color and rich in flavor. It had shredded pork and bok choy in it and I haven't seen soup made like this in forever. I'm salivating just thinking about it. I opted for the spare ribs combo with fried rice and an eggroll. The ribs were all meaty and covered in delicious sweet sauce. The rice was pretty good and plentiful. Eggroll was fine, nothing to write home about. My husband got the sesame chicken combo. The pieces of chicken were massive. He thought it was fantastic. The prices are a little steep, but worth it for the portions and flavor. If you pay with cash, you'll save money as they charge 4% to use a credit card. I am so happy I found this gem. So I use to live in Hollywood and this was my family's go to spot for Chinese food over 30 years ago. Well good news the food is still good. My wife and I were really craving Chinese food and we were in the area. So glad we did. The young lady that was serving us was such a sweet and nice person. Super friendly and not rushed or rushing us. The restaurant has not changed at all. Still looks the same inside, which is not a bad thing because it was old but clean. We had the Shazwan beef and pork in black bean sauce. We added the soup eggroll in fried rice to the meals, which was very reasonably priced to do.. As many people know it is very hard to get good Chinese anywhere anymore as most places are just fast food takeout . Thankfully, you can sit down and get a really good Chinese meal and get takeout from here as well . The hot and sour soup that we got was delicious. Not too thick great flavor not over spicy not over sour it was just right. The fried rice had a nice rich, dark color, and was very flavorful. The eggrolls were crunchy and fresh really enjoyed them. As for our dishes, they were absolutely delicious. The pork was super tender, and the black bean sauce was not salty and had a great flavor. The Shazwan beef had a mild spice to it which we requested, and the beef itself was very tender, and the sauce again was not over salted, and just had a great flavor . The food was a strong 4. I was surprised by how good the plain fried rice tasted. I actually took it home with the egg roll for another time thinking it would just be mundane but it was not. The chicken was thinly slices and not dry. The broccoli was fresh and still had some crunch to it. The soup didn't wow. Next time I would try their wonton soup. Looking for an authentic Chinese place with actual Chinese fried rice that isn't extremely greasy the wrong rice and the wrong toppings- look no further china lane is the spot! I ordered takeout House special fried rice with no shrimp because i'm deathly allergy and they obliged with no problems which is a big deal for me because too often other places contaminate the rice with shellfish causing problems for me. My last couple take out visits have been a miss. I typically always get the tempura shrimp and ribs combo with special fried rice upgrade and the last 2 times my ribs were dry and overcooked and unpleasant. I also recommend to a friend who said it's terrible food which really sucks since I raved about it. I even asked to make sure my ribs were fresh and tender and saucy this time and left without checking to find they were not. I have been thinking of trying this place out as it had a Dim Sum menu, I was greeted and seated immediately and handed both the regular menu and the Dim Sum menu, not long afterwards the waitress asked what I wanted to drink I asked for a favorite Chinese tea called Bo Lay(excuse the spelling)cha, she said they didn't have that and so I went with Oolong instead, the waiter came to take my order which I gave him in Cantonese (the look on his face was priceless as he didn't expect a Gwai Lo talking to him in his own language) any how I ordered the Char Siu Boa (Hong Kong style BBQ Roast pork buns) Har GAO (shrimp dumplings) pork shu mai and a bowl of pork fried rice, all arrived perfectly at the same time and piping hot, I must say one of the best Dim sum meals I've had in many years so I highly recommend this one. Yes they don't have very many staff but the staff they do have are always helpful and super kind . The place is also super comfy if you want to sit and eat inside. I saw in another review that someone complained about the wait but personally I didn't experience this problem any of the times I've been there every time I go the staff of 2 have been sure to make sure we have our food on time and are helpful in refilling drinks and making sure we are happy just be patient. Finally we have found a Chinese restaurant that is close to home, has good food that isn't fancy or elaborate and also has good service. Located next to a Pizza Hut store, the place is about the size of two stores. A bit dated in its decor, it is clean. Very clean. I mean, I looked up and noticed the air vents where clean! We ordered a small wonton soup, egg rolls, special fried rice and honey garlic chicken. Our regular go-to's when going to a Chinese restaurant. Everything came out in a timely manner. The wonton soup was very good, the egg rolls, not as big as say Pei Wei rolls, where freshly fried and much tastier than Pei Wei. The special fried rice was as to be expected, it had ham, chicken, veggies, etc. And the honey garlic chicken was plentiful. The honey garlic chicken came on the side so as not to get the fried chicken all mushy. At the end, when the waitress was packing the left overs, she actually used a small container for the honey garlic sauce instead of pouring it all over the left over chicken! This place is awesome. The service is industry standard and the management is exceptional. I mistakenly ordered a large take out order from this restaurant instead of a different one. So I called to cancel due to some limited circumstances so they courteously offered to deliver instead. I agreed. At the time of the delivery, I discovered an order issue. so I reached out immediately while the driver was present and the management dispatched another delivery with the correction. Soon after unpacking and inspecting the order I discover another issue..I'd ordered Chow Mein instead of Lo Mein... I was on the phone again. Management promptly responded. He was very patient, polite and understanding. He'd recognized it as a common customer issue and quickly offered me a pickup Lo Mein replacement with no additional cost. In conclusion, the restaurant not only facilitated stellar food service but helped me fix what initially started as a total disaster. I haven't left a review in years but I believe that this was well earned. I highly suggest CHINA LANE as a top recommendation for the locals and beyond for Chinese dine in and take out. I'm not sure why this place receives such high ratings. The food was very mediocre. Our server was decent and she was trying hard. But she was a little slow because she had too many tables. The place wasn't particularly crowded; however, they only had a few servers working that night. She tried her best and she was nice. She was just overwhelmed. We ordered the General Tso's combination dinner and the Beef with Broccoli combination dinner. I also ordered the steamed dumplings. My kids ordered the pu pu platter. Nothing excites me more than finding a local small business that offers food far better than the gazzilion chains and/or famous chefs that offer mediocre food at high prices. Located in a working class neighborhood we were in East Fort Lauderdale and expected to go to our "GO TO" Chinese Restaurant Christina Wan's but they were closed. We were heavily disappointed since South Florida has virtually no "edible" Chinese restaurants (other than CW and Rainbow Palace) but then a spark hit my brain! A friend once brought over food from China Lane and family said yes let's give it a try! So as "neighborhood fare" I rate this 5 stars. If we go beyond the neighborhood I would equate this to one of the better Cantonese/American Style restaurants in South Florida with a very solid 4 star rating. The restaurant decor will remind you of a traditional local Chinese restaurant and their pricing is so inexpensive that I was concerned about the food quality, But I was pleasantly surprised and as a real estate guy looking at the location you can guess that their rent is 1/5 the cost of being in a more costly area which allows them to price their food accordingly. So for the food this is what we ordered: Corn/Egg drop/chicken soup - excellent (serving so large it could accommodate 5 people) Vegetable spring roll -crispy but just ok Chicken chow fun - Excellent Mu Shu Chicken - Very good Sweet and Sour Chicken - sauce much different than other South Florida sauces - 5 stars but note very heavy on the breading with limited chicken ( so don't complain I warned you). Gigantic portion and cheaply priced Chicken with pan fried noodles and vegetables - 4.5 stars really good. Would have also liked more pan fried noodles (Add a few more dollars and make this much larger please) Vegetable fried rice - really good - 4.5 stars. Without noting this they also asked us if we wanted ice cream (at no cost). Highly recommend this place (we will drive the 40 minute from where we live to come here again! I have had food from this Chinese restaurant a couple of times and both times I've ordered the beef broccoli lunch special.
