Ordered takeaway to pickup at reataurant. Food was fast, and I got what I wanted. The reason for not being 5 stars is the menu item was incorrectly depicted on their website. Now the description was generated by AI on grubhub but frankly I don't care. I ordered Yang Chow fried rice for the wife who doesn't eat beef or pork. This dish is advertised to have rice, shrimp, carrots, peas and egg. Great! Well got home, loaded with chunks of pork. Now it was delicious and the egg drop soup was the best I have ever had, no complaints on flavor, but be sure to double check that what they advertise is the truth if you have dietary restrictions.

This past Christmas, my partner and I were looking for a new local Chinese restaurant. Growing up, one of our traditions was to order Chinese take out or go for Chinese food on Christmas Eve. It's been so long since I have done this tradition, but I'm glad I started again and chose Hunan Restaurant. I am not sure how crowded this place typically is, but it wasn't too crowded. There was maybe about 10 other tables. We visited on Christmas Eve. Could have been slower due to the holiday. It's a little low lighting in there, but light enough to enjoy your meal. We ordered the following: 1. Cream cheese wontons 2. Fried egg roll 3. Fried shrimp 4. Chicken fried rice 5. Walnut shrimp 6. General Tao All had great flavor, but what really stood out was the Walnut Shrimp. Some of the best I've had. It was crispy and served hot! Actually, all the food was served hot. Made for an enjoyable dinner. My suggestion is to try this hidden gem and order the Walnut Shrimp. You won't be disappointed. It's refreshing to receive speedy and efficient service. We will definitely be back.

Sesame Chicken, White Rice, and Eggroll

I've driven by this place countless of times but have not had the chance to try it until recently. It is a bit hidden behind fast food offerings off the nearest main road but conveniently located near several shopping and grocery stores. They have a large menu so I was unsure of what I should try first. I decided to go with the sesame chicken combo with white rice and an egg roll. The sesame chicken was decent and not that spicy, but if I go again I plan to try something different.

The sign was not lit up so it's not visible until you're on top of the restaurant. We were greeted right away with a friendly smile and the food came out quick. We ordered the appetizer platter, didn't care for the chicken wings, the breading was weird, but everything else was fine and you nothing tasted greasy. We shared the Triple Kung Pao that was beef, shrimp and chicken. It lacked spice but the flavor was good. It came with a nice size bowl of white rice. Canned soda only. Staff was lovely.

I enjoy the food at Hunan Restaurant. I've visited at least 3 or 4x so far. I've tried beef fried rice, chicken wings, chicken skewers, white rice, fried rice side and I think I ordered beef chow mein by accident. Service is also enjoyable. Anytime I've stopped by to pick up my to-go order, I was greeted pleasantly, upon entry. He verified my order and I've watched him greet other patrons and sat them just as pleasantly. The ambiance is suuuper old skool. It doesn't give high end, it doesn't give hole in the wall either, but definitely gives this is same table, chair and wall decor that was here when it first opened, no matter how many owners it may have had. LOL So dated may be a better way to address that. It's a very small, Mom and Pop sized establishment. I have yet to dine in, but it seems to have steady flow of customers that stop by. It's near my job, gives a nice amount for the servings, so I will definitely return.

Roast Pork Fried Rice

So, I rank restaurants by stars when you consider comparing them to similar restaurants - in a similar price point, so the review is appropriate to expectations. The fried rice had the best wok hei flavor I have had in a long time. The chef knew what he/she was doing, with the dark color rice one would assume it was drenched in soy sauce and very salty, and that was not the case at all - it was perfect with crunchy bean sprouts. The same "wok" comments apply on the moo goo gai pan. The sauce was better than I've eaten anywhere in the past. Vegetables were firm and the chicken had that soft velvet texture. The service was fast. The food was hot and I was checked on several times while eating. This is obviously a family owned small restaurant, proud of their food yet tucked away in an unassuming strip mall. It's a gem, so go eat here.

Sesame Chicken, Fried Rice, and an egg roll

The Hunan is a hidden gem. Hiding behind sonic drive-in, it's hard to spot. It is your average Chinese restaurant with a huge menu. What I really enjoyed about this place was their dine-in buffet. Unfortunately, it is closed until further notice, but I really hope they will bring it back soon. For now, they offer dine-in and take out. I tried the sesame chicken combo and the house lo mein. The combination platters come with your choice of rice and either an egg roll or cream cheese puff. It is noted that the sesame chicken is spicy on the menu but it has no spice whatsoever. I really enjoyed the sesame chicken. It had a perfect crunch and lovely taste. The egg roll had a cinnamon taste to it that weirded me out. I did not enjoy it at all. The fried rice was okay but had too much egg in it. That's all I really tasted was eggy rice. I thoroughly enjoyed the house lo mein. Huge portion size with plenty for leftovers! Overall, affordable and fast. I really enjoyed their menu variety and will be back again to try something else.

In 2026??? During Ice raids??? Where many immigrant/minority businesses are struggling.. this is not only my first impression of this place but ALSO wtf?! This is a form of racism & terrible customer service. I get places have language barriers but they have signs for everything else so really no excuses why many of the staff treated us that way. This behavior also tells me everything I need to know about the food as well.... terrible just like the attitude of the staff.

She seated us in a roomy booth and immediately brought us some waters. We ordered a the fried dumplings and the sesame balls. Both were absolutely delectable, best of each I've had in my life. The sesame balls had a crispy sesame coated exterior with a sticky bun interior and sweet bean filling. The fried dumplings were perfectly cooked to delicate perfection and were accompanied by a soy sauce with freshly minced garlic. Those didn't last 2 minutes on the table. We ordered the twice cooked pork and stirfry lamb as entrees and, as other reviews have said, the portions were generous. As for the the meats, they were thinly sliced, tender, and cooked to perfection. The spice level was right on point, not enough to numb your tastebuds but surly will leave you with clear sinuses. The spice contributed significantly to the succulent flavors found in each dish. Each entree comes with a bowl of buttery white rice. As a man of high caloric intake I was very satisfied with this establishment's CPD factor. As a genuine touch, there is heartfelt apology for rising prices due to rising ingredient cost and bird flu found at the bottom of each menu. 10/10 will eat again.

I ordered the Stir Fry Spicy Beef, Mapo Tofu, and the Pork Belly. Everything was tasty and have no complaints as far as the actual flavors. I do think that the Mapo Tofu should always be soft tofu rather than firm, but that's just a personal preference. The beef was plentiful and extra tender and the pork belly was perfectly melt-in-your-mouth, so good that I felt like I had to ration it throughout the next few meals. I do wish it came with more rice. I ordered three sides and only got one box of rice. I was hoping to have at least two so I can eat it for several days. However, to end on a positive note, when I walked in to pick up my order, the woman (owner possibly) was incredibly friendly and spoke Mandarin to me. She was welcoming, funny, and we briefly argued how spicy food should really be for it to be enjoyable. "The spicier the better," me thinks. Come show these guys some love!

So, I chose Monday to work remotely because, well, why not? For almost a year, I have been using a DoorDash pass for free. It means that I can get meals delivered for free if each order hits a minimum of $15. I decided to do delivery because it feels fancy to me when I'm in a hotel. I did a search on the DoorDash app and found Eddie Cheng Restaurant. It had menu items that appealed to me. What's funny to me was that it was across the street from the hotel. I could have easily placed my order and walked across the street to fetch it. I'm glad that I did delivery. My manager had an urgent task for me to complete on my final workday of 2024. Getting lunch delivered helped me get this task done quickly and efficiently. I ordered the following items: - Wonton soup - Shrimp with lobster sauce on roasted pork fried rice I didn't get any drinks because I had lots in my hotel room. When you go with delivery from this eatery, the restaurant decides if it's going to use its own delivery service or go with a DoorDasher. I had scheduled my food to arrive between 11:30 am and noon. The restaurant's own driver delivered my food. I had instructions to knock and leave the food at my door. This delivery person didn't read the instructions. He knocked on the door and expected me to open the door. I said politely to leave it at the door and I thanked him. He did. The wonton soup was amazing. The broth looked so clean. It was yummy. The wontons were huge and had a lot of filling. I'd order this soup again. It was excellent. The shrimp with lobster sauce on roasted pork fried rice wasn't what I had expected. I am so used to the version that New China does in Rochester with a lot of yummy lobster sauce that this one was different. It was basically a few large shrimp and veggies tossed in lobster sauce and pan-fried. They all were on top of fried rice. It was good. The shrimp and veggies were cooked well. The lobster sauce was salty. The fried rice seemed bland to me on its own, but was fine when I mixed the veggies and shrimp with it. My food came with crispy chow mein. It wasn't yummy. Pass! I got a fortune cookie, which I liked. We'll see if my fortune comes true... haha! It's good Chinese food. I'd get the wonton soup again, but would try something else off the menu. (8)
