This review is based on only one visit, and I do plan to return there. I also want to say that I have worked in various ways in the restaurant business for quite a few years and just recently "retired". Before actually reviewing the restaurant I'd like to respond to Eric G's comments made in June 2014 (scroll on down to see it). Eric seemed to have had a very bad experience. Now, I do not know him personally, but from the tone of his review I have a feeling he enjoys going on line with bad reviews of places. If Eric G. actually displayed any obnoxiousness reflected by his belief in the old adage that the customer is always right, it may be that the hostess reacted to him in kind, and actually wanted to make sure he doesn't come back. If that is anywhere near what happened, then I applaud her. There is a certain degree that staff needs to go out of their way to please their customers, but when demanding customers who can obviously not be pleased by anything or anyone show up, waitstaff and others would rather they just leave and not come back. Actually, they would like to finely chop you and add you to the stew.
Now, I went into all that, because if you read most of the reviews, you will find that the couple who own and operate this little restaurant are incredibly nice and polite, and so they were when I went there recently for lunch.
Yes, it is a typical neighborhood Chinese restaurant with a menu that seems identical to 90% of other Chinese restaurants. If you want something different you'll have to go to "China town" at a far more authentic and far more expensive place.
I had Sesame Chicken on the lunch menu. It included a spring roll, choice of fried or steamed rice, and choice of soup. I had the steamed rice and the hot and sour soup.
On a scale of 0 to 5, I'd give the soup a 3 -- tasty enough, but not loaded with "stuff" as I prefer. All the food was fresh and hot when served. The price couldn't be beat. It was $5.75 plus tax, and the amount served was fine for lunch.
Usually I like spicy food, so the next time I'll get one of those dishes. All in all, a very likable little place. And.....a little hint on how to get great, friendly service : be nice yourself. read more
