I became a huge fan of Hummus Mediterranean after eating at their original restaurant in downtown San Mateo, but I never thought that they'd expand to other locations in the Bay Area too! The downtown Mountain View location was sleek and modern, and only a week old during my visit. They offered the same menu of tasty Turkish eats including the House Combo plate, which came with lamb/beef gyro slices, chicken kebab, beef kebab, and my favorite, the koftedes, a juicy, herbaceous grilled patty made of ground lamb/beef. The plate also came with soft, chewy wedges of pita bread, tzatziki, and a salad of lettuce, cucumber, tomato, and pickled turnips tossed in an acidic dressing and topped with sumac. I also ordered the Appetizer Sampler Plate, which came with a creamy hummus, baba ghanoush, eggplant sautéed with tomatoes and bell peppers, Mediterranean salsa (a purée of peppers and tomatoes), tzatziki, two dolmades, and three crispy yellow falafel balls. All the mezzes went nicely with the pita bread on the side, as well as a dash of their housemade, slightly creamy chili hot sauce that came on every table. I think they just recently opened. They have several outdoor and indoor seating. The inside look very aesthetically pleasing with simple and minimalist clean look. I do wish the outdoor seating would follow the same standards. It's pay at the counter service. The food is a bit slow and the service could be better but I'm sure they will work out the logistics soon. I saw other tables with glass waters outside but our waitstaff didn't bring any. And by the time I notice, I was mostly done with my meal. I got the beef kebab with eggplant baba ghanoush. The bread is fresh and really good. The beef chunks were very chewy and I'm not sure if that's for the best. I think overall the food items are good but not amazing. I might stop by and try some of their other options. read more

It offers a variety of dip which pairs with the pita bread makes it extra amazing. Saw this new Mediterranean fast casual place opened in downtown MV, so had to try it when I next needed takeout. Me u has a good selection of typical Mediterranean fare - hummus (of course), grilled meat plates, wraps (healthier version of gyros?), salads, pides and souvlakis. I'm really excited that they have pides as this is something you don't see on other fast casual menus. Prices also fair for Bay Area - $15ish for a plate, $11ish for a wrap. I only ordered a falafel wrap but when I went to pick up my food, I saw the food the dine-in guests ordered and they look and smell amazing! The wrap even once I brought home was still warm and wrapped well, and I like that they made the wrapping crispy so it didn't get soggy. The falafel has a great texture and taste. Definitely will be going back and probably make this place part of my regular takeout rotation. read more

My parents went here a few times and loved it. The last time they went, which was yesterday, my mom was eating one of the dips and noticed she was chewing on something very hard and it was scratching her mouth. She pulled out 3 attached staples out of her mouth... my dad immediately called over the server and she went over to the manager. She came back with two sweets. The manager did not even bother to come over and apologize or even offer any sort of solution. Extremely disappointed with the service and quality of the place given it's in Mountain View. The chicken gyro (thigh meat) tasted as if it was refrigerated and reheated for the dish. It did not look fresh nor did it look appetizing. Very disappointing at $18 a plate. The rice was not your typical basmati grain that is served in this cuisine. It was a very buttery compressed pilaf of medium grain rice. Might as well been the Mahatma brand you see everywhere. The salad was fresh but the tomatoes were cut in such a way that I received the bottom of the tomato and it resembled the underripe tomatoes you find in a supermarket. Just a real let down. The same sentiment for the lamb gyro. The meat was not fresh and frankly not very flavorful. I hope that the owners see this and do something about the shortcuts that are being taken. read more

The restaurant is a cafe style you order at the register and they bring the food to you.They brought appetizers together with main dish, which worked ok. The food was DELICIOUS! The problem I have is that the portions are too small. You really need to order two things to get filed up but then that is more food than you really want or need. That is the problem: you can only order less than you want or too much. There are also many items that a quite inexpensive if they were a full meal but then they are not. Having to order two things makes the restaurant expensive. The other thing that bugs me is that there doesn't seem to be anyone there who gives a damn, e.g., no one that looks like an owner or a stack holder of any kind to see what is working and what is not.
