Well we went back to Hula's for a second time. We came here after church. The food was great! We got plenty to eat for the senior meals. The prices are right, too. There is plenty seating outside if it gets busy inside. Only one waitress today but she did great. The cook did a great job,too. We didn't have to wait long for the food. Last time the waitress offered us a complimentary soft serve but that didn't happen this time. I'm wondering if the owners last name is Victorino? The Victorino's are well know in Hawaii. Small place. Outside eating is best. If you eat inside you will be discouraged. Dirty, run down decor. Ketchup bottle at our table was filthy,everything was sticky and only the cook and a server working. Turkey sandwich was good but couldn't really get my mouth around it so each bite was either bread and lettuce or bread and tomato with a little turkey. Ordered a cup of broccoli cheddar soup and it was so thin and runny it was like broccoli milk. Ended up throwing away the soup after 2 spoonfuls. 5 dollars down the drain. Such a shame. If I pretended not to see the inside I would come back maybe... probably will not return. read more

We have passed this popular diner on our way to Pinecrest for years. We finally stopped by this year and I'm wishing we always had. It's authentic American eats. My daughter and I both ordered the Bacon Avocado Delight, fries, and root beer. The sandwiches were a treat, all that good and bad fat on crisp toast. It hit the spot after a crazy week back to school mid-pandemic. The staff was cheerful and brought our food. Went there early with my dog & a friend on Fathers Day, the food is always good and their prices seem to be reasonable when compared to other options. Hula's describes itself as dog friendly, usually they are but this time the girl didn't offer my dog water or ask if I'd like to order something for him. My friend and I ordered our food and when she brought it out to us she put two sausage patties next to my biscuits & gravy, I thought they came with the biscuits & gravy but they don't, my friend actually ordered sausage patties as a side dish and I started eating one by accident since she put them in front of the wrong person. How embarrassing. My friend picked up the check so I left a $12 tip on the $27 meal, I wasn't going to embarrass my friend by leaving a small tip even though the service warranted it. She never even asked if we wanted a warmup on our coffees while we were there. read more

There was only one response when I asked a local proprietor where I should eat lunch: "Hula's is where I always wind up. I stare at the menu intending to order something different but I always fall back on the same thing, the Guacamole Burger. It's good". So Hula's it was. An old-school style roadside stand with outdoor seating (order at the window) and indoor table service, Hula's menu is so extensive that I understand the dilemma. Here, two of us opted for a cheeseburger (with fries), a cup of chili, and a side of sweet potato fries. Since every meal comes with a surprise complimentary mini soft-serve ice cream cup there's zero chance of leaving Hula's hungry. In fact, if you're headed off to hike in Yosemite carb up here. The food is hearty and satisfying. I rated the chili merely "fine" but the burger received praise as did the accompanying fries and that side of sweet potato fries (with Ranch dressing). And free soft serve ice cream is never anything but great. Chances I'd head back for lunch at Hula's were I again passing through Escalon are quite high. Hula's is an Escalon classic. If you're passing through or you're looking for a place to eat a nice burger or sandwich, Hula's is the place! Growing up, I always loved getting the milkshakes because they are the best milk shakes in town! The last couple of time I have done I decided to branch out and get a sandwhich. I was a bit disappointed because I had ordered the chicken avocado sandwhich and I asked to add bacon to it then I upgraded my fries to garlic fries. I did not receive avocado in my chicken AVOCADO sandwhich and I did not receive garlic fries, yet I was charged. I decided to let it go because I grew up there and I knew everyone there, but I left disappointed. Luckily, I changed my order to a BLT and asked for avocado plus the garlic fry upgrade and everything was correct! The service is always wonderful and the atmosphere is always nice. Will I be back? We stoped in for a quick bite to eat for the first time and was met with some of the best customer service with a smile and one of the very best double bacon mouth watering cheeseburgers that I have ever tasted! Alys was on top of her game, made me feel like I was family! She manicured our table really well and made sure our drinks was always full and also made sure we had everything possible to enjoy our lunch! Love Hulas! My sister and I usually frequent this place when I'm in town and have never had a bad meal. Took our husbands with us last night and our meal was terrific, right off the grill and hot. Escalon burgers and patty melt. Always try something different. My husband loves soft serve ice cream and this is one of the few places that offers it. The memorabilia on the walls is a great appreciation to all that is Escalon and fun to look at. Also, our server Tommy was on top of everything and was the best! My husband and I came from a 4 day weekend at Yosemite, and let me tell you, this was the best food we've eaten the entire weekend! We came across this place on our way home and honestly so glad we did! I ordered the Bacon Cheese Fries with extra bacon and got the side size. And let me tell you, the side was a lot! They def gave a lot! And it was so good. But what stole the show for me was the homemade soup! I got a cup of the Minestrone, oh man, it was literally THE BEST MINESTRONE I EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. Do yourself a favor and get a BOWL of the soup of the day you won't regret it!!! I def regretted not getting a bowl and ordered another cup because it was that good! My husband had the special of the day, which was the Filet Mignon skewers with onions, tomato and bell peppers with pineapple slices and teriyaki sauce with a side of rice. He loved it sooo much he ate the plate clean! Service was wonderful. All the servers were all super nice and gave great service. Saw a sign while driving down Escalon-Bellota road and looked this place up on the internet. The description sounded great so we decided we would check it out. We were not disappointed. I selected the bacon cheeseburger from the extensive menu but asked to add avocado. No problem. I got the 16oz banana shake and a refreshing glass of ice water. Everything was fresh and delicious. My husband selected a bacon cheeseburger as well, accompanied by a glass of Mr. Pibb. He had zero complaints. We opted out of the included french fries and chose to share the tri-tip nachos fries. They came with tender chunks of tri-tip, thick nacho cheese and drizzled sour cream. Because we asked for no onions on the burgers, our server Patty had the pico put in a cup on the side (without our asking). Good thing because we didn't want it. She was very friendly and attentive and she made our first visit very pleasant. After being thoroughly stuffed with these massive 1/3lb burgers and fries, I was really wanting the hot fudge brownie dessert. We were pleasantly informed by our lovely server that a free cup of ice cream accompanies the bill. Check please! A swirl of soft serve ice cream in a little cup for each of us. One chocolate and one vanilla. I dumped mine into my almost empty banana shake cup and got my ice water to go. I overdid it for sure. If you're passing through Escalon on Hwy 120, this little place is worth the detour. Good food and friendly service but it was sweltering hot in there. read more

Came this way to visit Lopez Imports and we ended up getting hungry so we searched for a place and this was super close. We stopped in and it looked great, nice shady outdoor seating and drive thru. Hula burger and garlic fries are my go to. Anytime I'm coming thru Escalon I always have to stop.

I ordered a peppered steak sandwich w/ fries, and mozzarella sticks. The only thing good was the cheese sticks. The fries were soggy, the sandwich was nasty: the meat was grey/white no taste. Only 8 chunks of steak. No flavor. Overall $26 was a waste of money, I ended up after 3 bites throwing it away. Yuck. Gave 3 stars, because I havent had anything else there, so I cannot give anything less. read more

I always pass by this place when coming from San Jose and have wanted to stop and try it out. My Mother in-law and I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and sat inside. The waitress was very nice and welcoming. The menu has alot of options to choose from. The place is called Hula and pictures are Hawaii themed so I was expecting island food. The menu just had alot of sandwiches and Hamburger options. My Mother in-law ordered a banana milkshake to start and it was too thick to get through a straw (she's 81yrs old) so she used a spoon instead. The prices on menu are reasonable. We both ordered a roast beef sandwich with An jus and our orders came out within 8 minutes considering there were quite a few people waiting . The sandwich was pretty big but was very dry. There was no mayo on bread and the bread was not even toasted with butter as most places do it. The meat was bland, no seasoning or taste to it. The An jus was oily and had no taster either. My side with the sandwich was the soup for the day which was vegetable beef. The soup came out in a very small dipping sauce container!!! It was the same size as the An jus one...lol....there was a very very small piece of beef in it and the rest was mostly celery. I'm not kidding you, it was small, see picture. I asked for bbq Sauce because the sandwich was so dry, and the waitress said they charge for the BBQ sauce!!!! Wth!!! I said no thanks....we left disappointed in the food. PHENOMENAL. Rolled in around 8pm and the girls were cheerful and polite. Patrons inside were having desserts which looked to die for. The Potato skins appetizer aren't the typical wedges (of literal skin) that one would expect, they are whole russet potatoes! Cut in half and slightly hollowed with all the good stuff on top. Little heavy on the green onion for me but thats personal preference, was delicious. We were stuffed after sharing just the app between 2 of us but somehow managed to smack down the our entire burgers too. We couldn't resist. My boyfriend got the chipotle burger and he devoured before I could ask for a taste. Slightly spicy but he enjoyed the flavor! This spot is a well-known little stop for a quick bite to eat. Unfortunately, the primary word that I have to describe this place is LAZY. I needed something quick and decided that this might be a step up from the fast food in town. I pulled up to the drive-through and waited for about five minutes. There was no indication that anyone was inside or even working so I thought perhaps the speaker or microphone were broken. I pulled around to the window and the lady inside opened it and said they would take my order in a minute. Ok, no problem! At least I now knew they were open. A couple of minutes later another girl can back over to take the order. She rang it up and went to hand me the receipt. Now what she didn't know is I have a muscle injury on my left side. Instead of handing it out or putting on the tray they have for the exact purpose of extending things out, she holds it right and the window and smirks. I open the door, take the receipt and sign it, placing it back in the window. All during this time I realize why they are so slow. Instead of taking care of their jobs, they are complaining about a person who covered on Friday night and didn't fill the ketchup bottles. Oh I wish that was the worst of life's problems! when she went to hand the food out the window, she did the same thing. Instead of putting the bag on the tray and moving it out, she held it right inside the window. I opened the door and took it, then she quickly closed the door and started laughing with her coworker. I give it 1 star because the service was awful, the potatoes were bland, and the bacon undercooked. The only reason it gets 1 star is because it has to have at least 1. Sorry, but if you aren't a regular from this tiny clique town, you're not going to get good service or food. Won't repeat this mistake ever. I waited 10 minutes at drive through order speaker I ordered a shake drove forward and waited another 15 minutes behind a single car to then be given a dirty look by a lady who slammed the broken drive through window and walked away no words at all lol wonder why window is shattered??? She was so rude told me to leave threatening to call cops after I asked at the front window for a manager as the cook was laughing at me... she says I'm the owner wtf? How does this place keep busy? I have been to Hula's twice. The first time I was with a group of bikers about 20. I ordered about third, I waited for over and hour, after everyone was done eating I told them just give me my money back. Surprised but they agreed, then they could not find my tag. To day we stoped my wife & I son and daughter-in-law 4 children all together 8. When I payed I had no glasses with me the girl tells me $105.25 I gave her 120 not a bad tip I think. After I get home read the receipt added on is skyrocketing food and labor costs 8%. $6.30 Automatic service fee gratuity $14.16 when you order off a menu's with prices that should be plus tax only. never again Hulas read more
