It's unassuming and looks like it might not be good, but don't judge this book by its cover, it's good, cheap and the people are super small town nice. Great portion sizes, great value, and friendly service. I had the Texas omelet and was disappointed as there was nothing Texas about it. It was ranch beans and cheddar cheese. The name Hula's made me look twice as I drove by on my way from Yosemite. The Yelp reviews had me walk up and order... Nice patio to sit in, or an inside area (I didn't take a peak inside) and it appears they have servers. I just walked up and ordered at the window. Nice person took my order. Asked what I wanted on my burger and how I wanted it cooked. Fries and a Coke? Yup. Not too long of a wait, and I was back in my truck. A quick test of the fries and I realized they were garlic! Nice bonus. Good looking wrapped burger... that tasted great! Hand pressed juicy goodness. Pickles, onion, lettuce and their burger sauce. One bite, and I was hooked! Shocked AND hooked. You never know what you might get from a "burger" or sandwich place. They didn't disappoint. I suggest you stop by here if you live in these parts... Or just passing through. We dropped by on our way back from Yosemite on a tip that this place gives out soft serve on the house at the end. Parking was easy (there was no shade if you care about that sort of thing). There was covered outside seating with a water mister, which was lovely given the 109 degree weather. We ordered a pineapple milkshake and jalapeño burger with fries. The food was delicious - the milkshake had small pineapple pieces that reminded me of pineapple candy, and the burger had thick spicy cuts of jalapeño, crunchy pickles, and a sweet bun. Service was attentive, and all servers wore masks. There was a single restroom in the back that was clean. The only downside was we had to combat flies while eating. Oh, and we finished with soft serve on the house at the end! read more

This place is on my way home so I'll order by phone and pick up. Food is decent and service is friendly. Reviewers always talk about the free ice cream, I've seen it but I've ever been offered any. My husband and his cousin stopped by there for lunch. No complaints about the food. However, he showed me the receipt and alarmed, disappointed that there was a surcharge of 8% in addition to taxes. The receipt states Skyrocketing food and labor costs: 8% surcharge $2.36 added. It's not the dollar amount so much, it's the idea of it. You multiply that by daily revenue.... Me and my boyfriend go here almost every Saturday evening and it's our favorite place ever , everything they make there is so good , you can't go wrong with anything you order ! All the employees are super friendly , Iv never gone somewhere and had great customer every time ! My family and I were hungry and craving a burger. We decided to try something new rather than going to in n out. The phone rang for awhile but then a girl took my order and she was very nice. We ordered the knock out burger with garlic fries and philly cheese steak with regular fries. I had asked the girl what comes on the philly and she told me just the meat and cheese, but it came with huge chunks of meat, cheese, and onions. Wanted to confirm what comes on the Philly cheesesteak as many places make them differently. But sad to say, the burger was very dry (it was not "juicy" as they claimed), the garlic fries were cold and my fiancé couldn't finish the Philly cheesesteak because it was so hard to eat through the big chunks of meat. Stopped here for lunch while driving to Yosemite. This is an awesome diner with very cool and eclectic decor. The breakfast burrito I had here was absolutely incredible---it had grilled vegetables within it that really added to the texture and flavor. The wait times are ridiculous all the females do is sit and talk in there and stare at you why you try to order your food... like 30-45 mins unacceptable to get a ice cream, not to mention the owner likes to hit on young girls and really only hire young female workers. The food is alright but not worth it with the way the workers act and ignore you So the owner obviously doesn't keep a close eye on his business, and try to deny facts if you look there is more then just me saying it. This is a great little joint in Escalon! Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and the food is great. They've got TVs going with sports, and are super involved in the local community - supporting sports teams and the like. It's a small family owned place that's always ready to greet you with a smile. The food is fantastic, and a huge selection. There's burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, salads, and plenty of sides or appetizers. I went with the Knockout Burger on suggestion of the waitress, Cassie - and boy was it good. Cassie went above and beyond the call of duty and made sure all of my questions were answered and I was well serviced and taken care of. This is great for dessert too - their milkshakes are fantastic - perfect for a hot summer evening to sit out on the patio and sip on something cold. I've tried to give this place a shot. I honestly can't see the appeal at this point with the locals other than it's convenience. My order of breakfast a week ago had a hair in the hash browns. I let it go, because honestly, stuff happens. It wasn't on purpose, I just didn't finish my meal. I don't like to make a fuss. With that said... This evening I ordered a party melt and chicken tenders with garlic fries for my boy. Side salad for me with bleu cheese dressing. And a sprite. Pulled up, paid for the food, the young lady at the window asked if I wanted any condiments, I asked what they had, and the response was ketchup, mustard and napkins. Napkins? Really? Sure, I'll take some napkins... smh. Anyway, I asked for ketchup and ranch on top of the what should have been bleu cheese dressing... Got home, forgot the sprite, checked the bag, only ranch. Nothing else. We go back for the bleu cheese dressing and the soda. On the way home, while my son was drinking his sprite, low and behold, a hair was in his soda. What the heck?! This is NOT a fast food restaurant so please don't come expecting your food to be cheap. It's not going to be, you are going to be paying more BUT you are getting some good food!!!! With all places too staff can make mistakes so if you're concerned check your food before you leave if it's drive-thru. Also from now on I will be having them repeat my order that way I know they heard me correctly. Overall I say definitely give Hula's a shot.
