I know some people like this restaurant and I live very close by so I have tried and tried and tried some more, and I'm sorry they have the most god awful food I have tried: The raved about cinammon French toast: tried on 2 occasions and it was burnt both times and a big nothing Pasta Mama : another dish i kept hearing about. A completely tasteless pasta dish. Shocking really. Turkey burger - they are pink inside who wants to eat pink turkey meat! Tried a second time, still pink. They said that's the way it's supposed to be. A BLT: a nothing! Aroma's is so much better. Truly, a big nothing. A burger: i asked for it on the sourdough, sort of a patty melt/grilled idea and they brought some soft bread that didn't even look or taste like sourdough, untoasted. Not edible. Cuban sandwich: comes on wheat, not a good fit, sandwich bread for a sandwich with a piece of protein in it. Comes with some sweet bbq sauce which was awful. Porto's Cubano is so fabulous. This might be the worst thing I had. This was to go and came with a giant bag of mealy fries with a bad seasoning on them. Again, not edible. Tossed. A Club: they said they no longer put real turkey on their clubs , they use a turkey "loaf." I said like pressed turkey and she said yes. Not pressed turkey, worse if that's possible. A knockworst sized turkey meatloaf cut in discs, on a club sandwich. Blasphemy! A chicken picata type dish for dinner: overcooked white chicken, with a little sauce. Really so tough and so so bad. I did have bacon and eggs and wheat toast there once and that was fine. I do not mind their taco place. I mean no one will say it's great or craveworthy but compared to the restaurant, it's fabulous. Somebody doesn't know how to cook. Or somebody's mother didn't know how to cook. I supposed if I ordered freshly squeezed vegetable juice or teas for meals , i would be in heaven but as far as food - NO, NO, NO! Sorry for the rant, I feel like I am going crazy at this point. If I could give this place a zero I would. Buyer beware! We ordered food on their website and picked up at their Studio City location. They charged my credit card twice and refused to help reverse the charge. They blamed it in Uber Ears even though we ordered through their website. Apparently the CEO (a guy named Bill) then called to harass and berate us. All for a charge of $30. Avoid this place - not worth the time or hassle and the food is mediocre at best. RESPONSE to the below: Everyone can now see how you treat customers. You clearly like to get angry and rant. Good restaurants don't harass customers and refuse to help. Good food, terrible service. We have been regulars here for quite some time but are looking for a replacement restaurant because the service is so bad!!! It's like the servers (who have been there forever) forgot they have a table!!! My husband and I often get the burgers and they are often cooked wrong. One is burnt while the other is perfect. Love Hugo's! Such an iconic Los Angeles eatery and their options for vegan and vegetarian customers are the best. The food is great and I love the outside/inside dining options. The only thing that I could critique about this place is parking which can be tricky especially when it gets busy. You might need to park on the street and trek over. But its worth it! read more

I had the most delicious salmon with capers and pasta, and I'm glad this was an option since most restaurants opt to make the dish with chicken. Eh? It's fine. First off, the menu is so confusing. They have some average looking items, but I think people head here for the option to customize bowls, salads or pastas. I personally am not the biggest fan of spots that have a menu that takes a good 20+ minutes to get thru. I buckled under pressure and went with a veggie burger. It was homemade, but by no means that great. A little more cardboardy than I prefer. I opted for the side ginger chicken soup vs fries and it also failed to impress. I should have went with the fries or salad option. The kids at the table enjoyed their kids meal burgers and the menu has options for our vegan friends, so it does accommodate everyone. Prices aren't cheap, but it's reasonable and the place was crowded. Bonus: breakfast served all day and looked way sexier than dinner. Overall, a solid diner style spot. I probably wouldn't come again for dinner, but would def be interested in checking out breakfast! read more

Love Hugo's. They can be a bit pricey, but the food is very tasty and wholesome. They have several vegetarian options if you choose so. They have a wonderful arrangement of teas and lemonades with various flavors. I love their pasta dishes as well as their quinoa salad. You should definitely try it if you're in the area. read more

I had a horrible experience here about a year ago caused by a rude waitress with pink hair. We were having lunch when she sat a couple next to us..my son was calmly watching a video on my phone before they were even seated next to us. They made a comment about wanting it to be quiet and the server asked me to turn it off, my son started crying, and I let him since the waitress was more worried about the other party being content.. After this the server started being rude to us and amazing to the couple.. The restaurant was empty and they could have been seated somewhere else.. I used to love coming here but I will not he going here again. Other than that the food is good. Hate that I had such a bad experience. I'm been coming to Hugo's (this location and the Weho one) since literally the beginning of time. Not only is the food delicious but the employees are all awesome. Literally from the tables bussers and kitchen staff to the wait staff, it is always an enjoyable experience. This place is like my version of Cheers, everyone literally knowns my name. It is pricey, I'll give you that... but high quality food is expensive, especially organic from boutique suppliers. But you get what you pay for... I will be coming to Hugo's until I'm old and grey (which is not far off lol). Hopefully all of these microgreens and healthy salads will keep me kicking and healthy so I can continue to support this awesome business. Came in wanting to use my Hugo's Taco's gift card but it was denied. Same owner same company but no dice! Ordered the three tacos of chicken. Wishing they were tres tacos de pollo, but they weren't. They were ok but pricey. Staff was chill, restaurant was ok, automatic 3% extra charge with option to opt out but its "for" kitchen staff. Menu was extensive with plenty of options available. No more outdoor dining for a few weeks, so yesterday I went, picked up my pasta papa and ate it in the car - it was great and that's kind of outdoor dining, sorta, kinda. I can not believe I have never been here before! It's wonderful. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. My only issue I had was that their menu is so nut heavy and I am severely allergic to nuts. I came to with my computer to do some work. Like I said the waitress was so sweet, but she did not give me any disclaimer about the allergens. Usually I don't expect this but once my food was eaten and ordered I heard her tell the party seated next to me about how the menu works with the key and etc. I started to feel sick and I have been suffering from a sensitive stomach so I thought it was that. I got home and was ill all day, I checked the online menu and there it was butternut squash soup had nuts in it. I completely over looked it. Thank god it was not enough for me to need my Epi pen but just for the future Hugo's a larger disclaimer would be very much appreciated because nut allergies are not a joke and not something a small "n" covers. I am a creature of habit and have only tried their Go Green Frittata with potatoes every time I've been there so I really don't know what anything else tastes like. There's really not much flavor going on with the frittata since it is a pretty healthy and hearty dish but, I love the potatoes as I get it well-done and dip it in ketchup. I like that Hugo's offers an extensive menu with plenty of vegan options for my fiancé so this is definitely a place we will continue to visit. read more

First time at Hugo's tonight for a birthday celebration. Two of our group have gluten allergies, so it was very nice that they had so many choices to choose from. All the meals looked great, portions are large. I ordered the Chicken Carciofi. I enjoyed the combination of flavors of artichoke hearts, spinach, grape tomatoes, Kalamata olives, garlic and white wine in the sauce. The two thin fillets of chicken however were very over cooked and tough, to the point it was difficult to cut them with fork and knife. The organic brown rice was a nice accompaniment and soaked up the flavorful sauce. I don't like to send food back and I didn't, but in hind site I probably should have. The table ordered the brownie, apple crumble and vanilla bean gelato to share. It was a not too sweet ending to a great birthday celebration and we couldn't believe the desserts were gluten free!! Went here for Valentine's Day with my fiancée (a woman), myself a woman. They had specials for wine and promoted handing out cookies and roses (sounded cute). We got there and ordered our meal etc and watched how every woman around us in company of a man eventually got a rose. They gave the rose to the man to give to her which was understandable due to the holiday. We had to eventually ask for a rose as we paid the bill, and the waiter told us there was "one more" and that he would try and get it. There was a good whole vase full... what a way to put a dent in the night. Not sure what the deal was but wow. Food wasn't great and pasta was hard and dry. Definitely won't be coming back read more

I didn't think too much of other's reviews on service if the food is good but unfortunately neither was. The food here was very bland. I had the hash and was greeted by 70% beets. That's a lot of beets. Not very flavorful and it impacted the other veggies, eggs and meat. The veggie bacon was also sad being a dull cracker with little flavor. Getting a refill on coffee requires those batons you are at the airport. Be ready to flag someone down. I love small diners and was hopeful here. I won't be back sadly. read more
