She had no idea where we were going and didn't know she was about to have the best dinner experience. Shaken chilled martinis to start, followed with the table side chilled salads that she still talks about, and our delicious entrees made the night! The service was on point and we had a staff of 4-5 servers check on us, the "pirates of the Caribbean old vintage decor" makes this place memorable with ambiance that makes you want to come back. I first came here over 20 years ago after I asked a Las Vegas salesman where to go for the best food in Downtown Las Vegas and Hugo's Cellar has been my go-to Downtown ever since. It has evolved from the dark restaurant with booths behind thick red velvet curtains but it still carries the vibes of the rat pack and mob deals being made over martinis and steaks. So, where to start? With the entrance, hidden behind the tables in the Four Queens and down a a dark flight of stairs. You'll see the bar -- a great place to hide and have a fantastic drink in a quiet space -- and the host stand where all the ladies in the party will receive a long-stemmed rose. Can others in your party also receive a rose? Yes, but you have to ask. The menu is classic steakhouse: steaks, chops, fish, with all the entrees around the $100-$120 mark. What makes Hugo's a better deal compared with the strip steakhouses is you're buying a complete meal. That steak comes with a salad prepared expertly by the waiter at your command, sides, a bread and butter service, bottled water, and even a light dessert of chocolate-dipped fruit. If you're truly hungry, add on some delicious lobster bisque or a dessert at the end of the meal. That chocolate cake and the cobbler are pretty delicious. Cocktails are a must with this old-school Vegas vibe and you'll receive a hearty pour and an expert touch, never fear. Stick with the classics and you can't go wrong. A dirty martini with blue cheese olives is my go-to, with an Old Fashioned running a close second. The wine list is extensive and there is a full-time sommelier who has been working there for over 40 years. Prices are high, but less markup than you'll find on the Strip. The service is spot-on, practiced, and professional with most of the waitstaff working in the restaurant for many years. Are they still wearing the old-style Vegas tuxedos? You know it. The bread was mediocre. The steaks were cooked perfectly but overall nothing above the norm from other steakhouses in the area especially for the insane cost compared to other places. The lobster bisque was fantastic with huge chunks of lobster. Crab cake had a ton of crab in it. The inside was very classy and fancy. The service was top notch, but some of them clearly had some character they were trying to keep up. If you're not fully invested or ready for it, then it can get very grading very quickly. Came here with some family who's been here before and mentioned this place being one of their favorite places. For me it was my first time & was immediately impressed once we started walking down the stairs into the restaurant. Upon entering the ladies were given a rose which was a nice touch. The restaurant itself is very nice and romantic setting. The food was phenomenal l. We got the artichoke dip and added king crab which, extremely flavorful dip!! Also the table bread and butter was very good. The he table side salad you basically select everything you want was a hit. Also very much enjoyed the little raspberry sorbet palette cleanser they give before your entree, haven't been to a restaurant that does that but I loved it. This pains me to write this review. We have always been and still are Hugo Cellar fans. Not sure what happened, but they just were not on their a game. Just so you know we were probably the fourth guest sat when they opened. So they hadn't been open very long. When we were sad, our server was very friendly. Welcome us and like always they handed me a rose to provide to my wife. Then they sad us. They asked if we wanted something to drink very quickly and while we were looking at the menu, they brought out what they called fresh hot bread. This is probably our 20th time over 30 years having gone to Hugo Cellar. I know when they set it on the table they wanna reinforce that it's fresh that it's hot and it's great bread. Unfortunately this was none of the above. The bread was not hot, it is like a crisp bread that's supposed to have like a cheese type flavoring along with paprika. This was cold, hard crisp bread that was loaded only with paprika. Every other time we have been here we have asked for more bread. This time we each barely finished a piece that we split. The bread was lackluster. It came time to place the order. They started with the traditional table salad. Of course they start with the ladies first and the guy really isn't listening to him. He's telling each thing that's in the bowl. She says no Parmesan cheese and he puts it on anyway and he hands the plate and she goes I didn't want Parmesan cheese. He goes. Oh yes you did. You said you did, we aren't confrontational people so she took it. He didn't push back. I ordered my salad. My wife went and picked off as much as the Parmesan as she could. The salads were fresh. They were tasty. She ordered the filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly. The green beans were outstanding. I ordered the ribeye with cheese on top and it was out of this world. The green beans were also great. All that we can talk about all dinner was having dessert afterwards and they're amazing Kona coffee We finish dinner they come out OK remember, we were the fourth family to be seated that night. He comes to the table. What would you like for dessert? I say we'll both start with Kona coffee and we'll get. Oh I'm sorry. We're all out of Kona coffee. You're out of Kona coffee you just opened. Oh, we ran out yesterday. This is Las Vegas. If you ran out the day before, you could easily go and get it somewhere in that amazing city. So we said OK thank you we did not order dessert and we didn't get Kona coffee. So the basic steaks were great and for the most part, the servers were polite, but did it surpass expectations like it normally does and provide that wow factor not this time. We'll have to think hard more back in Vegas than a couple months for another concert. I had a really great dinner at Hugo's Cellar. The food was excellent overall -- the tableside salad was fresh and fun, and the steak was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Service and atmosphere felt classic Vegas in the best way. The only miss of the night was the Old Fashioned. It was honestly one of the worst I've had extremely strong and lacking balanced flavor. The service is impeccable! Everyone was friendly, helpful, attentive but not overbearing. The ladies start off the night with a and we were quickly served our starters that were part of the entire meal. We were asked what wanted to drink first and had various wait staff who all specific duties and did them well and with pride. I got a filet minion, I think the middle was cooked to perfection, maybe the outer edge was over done but the flavor was good, the mushroom risotto was flavorful and cheesy (could have been hotter for my taste), and that nights carrots and green beans were a nice pairing. The side table salad was fun and had options for toppings that were not on my standard salad list and they were fantastic (looking at you pine nuts!). We didn't have room for the fantastic looking deserts but did partake in the fig, jam, chocolate covered strawberries and creme that came with our meal. Be ready for low lightening and low ceiling -all to be expected. I appreciated the low volume as it leant itself to table conversation without having to yell. Hugo's Cellar was recommended by a co-worker so we first walked in after having dinner already and were greeted by the friendly bartender. We were pleased with was a we saw and decided to make a reservation for the next evening, Thursday! On Thursday, we arrived and were immediately seated in a booth that was separated by plexiglass from the booths on each side of us. I don't know if the plexiglass helped or hurt the acoustics because we could hear entire conversations at tables all the way across the room. To start off the service was beyond compare! We always had numerous staff taking care of our table whether it was bringing food, clearing plates, refreshing drinks...it just didn't stop! Every server was very pleasant and attentative. Often restaurants of this caliber offer a menu of only al a carte items from main entree to having to order each of your side dishes but that was not the case at Hugo's Cellar. Your entree comes with table side prepared salad...and not just any salad..., sorbet to cleanse your palate, selection of starch with your entree and fresh vegetables. My husband chose the rack of lamb and I ordered the pork loin without any sauce as I don't like sauces on my food. My husband's rack of lamb was something we have never seen served in a restaurant of this quality before. It was carved table-side and the size could have easily fed 2 or 3 people. He loved his meal. Mine on the other hand was a different story. My pork loin was extremely dry and I really tried to eat it but I guess the mistake was ordering it without the sause. When the server came by she noticed I stopped eating and I told her it was just too dry and asked if it was possible to get a chicken breast with so sauce since the chicken on the menu had sauce or gravy and she happily agreed. Unfortunately, chicken wasn't any more moist and so I left that on my plate as well but I enjoyed everything else which is the reason for my rating. Our meal was finished off with chocolate covered strawberries...a regular offering after every dinner. Outstanding service and experience. We came across Hugos Cellar by accident, walking off a dinner from Oscars, and booked a table for the next night. Hugos Cellar is nestled on a lower part of the Four Queens Hotel and Casino, getting to the restaurant is via a few stairs down or an elevator. Upon checking in and being walked to your table, each lady in your party gets an amazing long stem rose, which has its own vase on the table. Upon paying the bill, the rose is wrapped in foil to take it home. The food experience at Hugos has a unique set of included items. Firstly a wonderful selection of bread, crackers, butters, salts etc are promptly brought over when you are seated Each meal includes a table side custom salad bar experience, a pallet cleansing gelato and a wonderfully displayed chocolate covered strawberries and heavy cream dessert. Entres also include two sides, making this fantastic experience very affordable We booked the table for our 10th anniversary and on our table was a handwritten signed congratulatory card. I had ordered the rack of lamb, which ive had at many other places... there was so much lamb! I was not expecting a whole rack of 6 bones and a tremendous amount of wonderfully cooked tender lamb. Service was impeccable, everyone works as a team and we could see a few of the servers standing by the walls, attentively looking for empty plates to remove or water glasses emptying to fill... you never had to wait for any server to ask for something, they are constantly reacting to you. My wife ordered the pork loin, but without any sauces and gravy, unfortunately that was pretty dry and our server quickly saw this and offered her another dish of her choice with no fuss. This restaurant treats a lady as a lady should be. When you walk in they present you with a rose. The food is outstanding. We had a granite hot rock and grilled an assortment of horsdoeurvs. The portion of roast beef was gigantic, with it hanging over the sides of the plate on all four sides. We came here on April 13 2026 to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary.. we spend about $600 and the food would have been better at Taco Bell... services started off great.. The ambiance was pretty. Got our wine, wonderful salads but then it went down hill from there.. All of us were very disappointed.. Food tasted froze and heated (nothing was fresh), the Au Gratin Potato's were absolutely disgusting and an up charge (tasted days old), Sea bass was dry and not good (and had sour cream on top), the duck, the green beans and risotto was not edible. My mom ordered a cosmopolitan and it tasted watered down, as if it had sat on counter an hour... We didn't even get asked for more wine. We all had full plates when table was cleaned off and nobody asked how our meal was.. My mom made a comment about the food and our waiter acted like he didn't hear her. The next day we called to give management the opportunity to connect with us before writing review and was told they would call back. 2 weeks now and nobody has called us back. They give you a sorbet to cleanse your palate after our salad which was yummy and unexpected. I chose the chimichurri skirt steak for my main and it was yummy. My spouse got the New York strip steak with garlic mashed potatoes and veggies which was also good. They served us chocolate dipped fruits which was yummy and again unexpected. This is a classic old-school dining experience in a very old school hotel. Located below the casino in the 4 Queens Hotel on Fairmont St. in downtown. Free parking (prepare to tip appropriately). This is a real dive hotel but not dirty. In Hugo's, there is no dress code, but the staff is decked out in tuxedos. Prepare to pay for the dining experience. Free parking but $100 dinners. Unlike Morton's or Ruth's Chris, all dinner entrees include their famous tableside salad, huge bread plate, veggie, potato, sorbet (between courses) and chocolate covered strawberries. 12/28/25 We thank the manager here for making things right after a bit of a disappointment with our dinners the previous Saturday on the cook and quality of our steaks. Our waitress and servers were excellent on that Saturday; although, apparently the cook was new in training which is the reason but we all were in training at some point in our careers so we are not necessarily blaming the cook. Anyway, everything turned out wonderful on our next visit on Sunday December 28th, 2025. Thank you to the manager, our nice waiter, nice servers and the entire staff. Years ago, I asked a dealer for a recommendation for an upscale dinner for an anniversary. He recommended Hugo's, saying "the food is fantastic and the service is even better. And you'll get out of there for 1/3 of what a comparable meal on The Strip would cost." We went to that Hugo's several years in a row, and every time they hit on all cylinders. Now my daughter and I come to LV. We have a Daddy Daughter Date Night tradition, where one night we go to Hugo's and then a show. Each and every time, Hugo's delivers. The tableside salad is fresh, the topping selection extensive. Hugo's is the place my daughter had her first Beef Wellington, foie gras, tableside-prepared bananas foster, and other upscale entrees. The food has always been stellar, and consistent. The waitstaff has impeccable timing. Most have been there for years, and know what to do and when to do it to make it a very enjoyable overall experience. Without ordering any other sides or desserts, Hugo's is a 5-course meal included in the price of your entree. They have numerous add-on sides, preparations, desserts as you prefer. Do recommend the bananas foster, the tableside preparation is intriguing and entertaining, and provides a sumptuous dessert. This was our most recent visit to Hugo's. We have been going when in Vegas since the early 90's. My wife and I split the smaller cut of prime rib ordered medium. We paid for the full split plate meal, which means she also got the salad, veggies, and starch choice. Bread w/ honey butter and plain butter is served initially, and was fine. The salad made at the table w/ all the choices was great as usual. The prime rib was massive, even after split in 2. It seemed much larger than 16 oz total. I'd say it more medium-rare than medium, but tasty. The accompanying veggie was green beans which were very thin and wonderfully prepared. I had the mashed potatoes, which were good, but nothing special. My wife had the mushroom risotto, and thouhgt it was real good. The chocolate dipped strawberries, white and dark chocolate, apricots, and figs were delicious as usual. We were given a lava cake for my wife's birthday, which was rich and good. The service was the best, as usual. Our only disappointment was the change in dress code over the years. In the early 90's, a sport coat was the norm for men, and I remember when they would have one to wear if you showed up without. Then, business casual got acceptable. Now, despite the fact we dressed that way, most men were in short pants, and some in T-shirts. It definitely detracts from the fine decor and ambience. read more

Ambiance was nice! Felt like a speakeasy kind of place . Service was very poor along with the extremely overpriced food. One person in our party received burnt chicken breast. It wasn't blackened or anything just over cooked and burnt. Sorry for not taking a picture we returned it immediately. We were shocked that the waiter would even bring it out to the table. The service was terrible as well. (One hour and a half to receive food) This place came recommended and we were looking forward to a good experience, sadly to say we had to swing by subway sandwiches after paying our $340. 00 bill . If Hugo's continues to knock it out of the park like they did for us, this place should be on everyone's list if you're looking for great food and an old school dining experience. The staff that assisted us had 40, 41 and 27 years at Hugo's and they were great! We skipped appetizers and had duck, salmon, chicken and cauliflower dishes for entrees. We told the Sommelier we were having salmon and duck and wanted a red and he picked a reasonably priced Pinot noir that paired well with salmon and mushroom risotto. Prices are higher than normal but that is due to the extras you get...great bread service, table side salad service, raspberry sorbet, sides with every entree and dessert items included. Hot stone, stuffed prawns and artichoke dip. The hot stone app was amazing!! The absolute star of the show.only down side, they leave the stone at your table while still cooking the meats. We were able to manage this, but I can easily see forgetting about it and overcooking or searing part of this item. The stuffed prawns were just ok. Nothing notable. Same with the artichoke dip. For entree I had the seafood trio and the other half had the filet. Both arrived overcooked! The steak was cooked well done and the seafood was overcooked, the shrimp was too rubbery to eat. When I told the server about it, at first he told me "the seafood only comes one temp" and "there is no options to cook it less"; he suggested he get the manager. The manager immediately asked if we wanted a recooked steak. Kinda pushy about it and picked up the plate. He then repeated the there is no options to cook the seafood less. That's when I showed him the shrimp and told him it was rubbery to eat. He grabbed the plate and didn't say anything else and left. A couple mins later a recooked steak was brought to the table. I am told both steaks were delicious. I only said anything about the first steak as it cost $125! Desert was brought to the table. We ordered a piece of cheesecake to go. When the bill was brought to the table, I noticed the seafood trio was taken off the bill. $315 after taxes. We will NOT be returning here... the price to quality doesn't make any sense when there are 5+ other steak houses within a city block! read more

We had reservations for 7:15 pm on Friday, October 03rd, 2025. It was our Anniversary and I asked if I could drop off a present early for my Husband? I spoke to the beautiful Hostess Diana. Not only did she say yes, she put it in her office for 2 hrs 15 min. she also had it set up at our booth when we got there. We were greeted by the both lovely Hostesses Charlotte and Diana. Our WaitStaff was attentive and wonderful. The handsome Rashad and Brian took excellent care of us. Our 14 year old was thrilled with how she was treated also. The bonus was seeing Dean the Bartender that has worked at Hugo's for 27 years now (what a blessing) and as a matter of fact today is his 51st Birthday. Happy Birthday Dean. I have been coming here for years as a local. I was let down on Christmas by the food, of all things. The service was excellent, as always. And the restaurant ambiance can't be beat. But the food this time was off. They changed their Caesar Salad Dressing and it doesn't have that kick anymore. They added these specialty salts to the table that I couldn't even use because the food was SO salty (this coming from someone who salts everything fat more than I should). My Wellington was very different than I have had in the past. Usually there are chunks of duck liver, but I had none. The mushroom duxelles was falling all over the place and so salty it was inedible. The steak itself was good inside, but what a waste of a Wellington. I wish I had just ordered a steak. The chicken with mushrooms? Had no mushrooms at all on the plate? Zero. The dessert was the usual and fine. But, I may think again about coming here every year with the food being such a let down. Makes me sad, especially for the cost. Oh, and they increased their charge on martinis. One classic grey goose martini is now $24! read more

Omg! How have I never been here?! I absolutely loved this place! It kind of reminded me of the other really famous steak place in town. If you know you know. They have a tableside salad bar that they bring to you. It was so good! Bread was amazing. Steak was amazing. They even give you chocolate covered strawberries, and raspberry ice cream to cleanse the palette, and you get a rose! This was so great! Everything was amazing. The dessert cart looks amazing but I was so cool. They also do a tableside cherries Jubilee and bananas foster. I still can't believe that. I have never been here. A friend of a friend had one in town and this is their favorite place and they go every year and I guess it's because I'm rarely downtown, but it was awesome because they validate your parking so you can park right there. They have amazing dirty martinis and the serving size is huge! Service was amazing and the ambience is kind of romantic actually, really cute. You walk down the stairs and it feels like you are walking into old style Vegas, which I absolutely love! I cannot wait to go here again! read more

Service was poor. My sister and I hadhooe to enjoy a nice dinner. We were Ignored by wait staff far too long. We do not mind paying for a good meal bu we will no be ignored. Did race pay a factor? The Good, the Bad & the Ugly: The Good: The service and the martini. The Bad: My steak was cooked properly but there was no taste and it was a bit chewy. For $105.00 I expected more. To be fair it included a salad albeit a very average salad and choice of three types of potato. If you wanted a baked potato it was a $6 up charge. Skip all the new fancy restaurants on the strip and make a reservation at Hugo's Cellar. You can thank me later. The food is amazing and the service is top notch. If you like a good martini you don't want to pass theirs up with blue cheese olives. I had the surf and turf and it was prepared just that way I ordered it.
