I'm genuinely shocked at the lack of quality and customer care at this Hugo Boss location. I purchased a $200 shirt and followed the manufacturer's instructions exactly--washed only a couple of times and air-dried--yet the shirt ripped apart. When I returned to the store expecting at least some accountability or assistance, the staff offered no meaningful support. In my experience, they did not stand behind the products they sell, which is incredibly frustrating given the price point and brand reputation. For a luxury retailer, I expected far better. Their quality has really gone downhill recently, I would not recommend purchasing suits from there. I purchased a suit, and after wearing it six times it started chafing. They would not change it despite it being a manufacturing defect. We bought a 2000$ suit a few weeks ago for our wedding. We came back to buy shoes to complete the wedding outfit. As we also had to online order a specific groomsman suit for someone else's wedding, we asked if they could possibly pull up the sizing information they took when we first ordered the suit (it's not on the suit or on the order paper we got). They said they did not have it. We asked if they could then quickly check the suit size so we would know. There was no other client in the entire store, with two clerks and a tailor. We were told they will not give us our suit size if it is not to buy a suit from their store (word for word). What? So rude after spending so much money with them! read more

I walked into Hugo Boss back in August to look for a suit for my wedding, not expecting the kind of service and treatment we received from Quintin. He is the main reason you should visit this store! He was very professional, friendly, approachable, sincere, genuine, and astute about fashion's subtle nuances. He paid attention to my needs, addressed my concerns, and diligently worked to find and anticipate a solution every step of the way. He went above and beyond expectations when it came to finding the perfect suit for my wedding. He took an immense amount of time and care in making sure I was not only happy with my purchase, but proud of what I had bought. He accommodated my schedule by coming in hours after he had left for the day and even coming in during his vacation! I have never met anyone so dedicated, well-versed, and thoughtful in the fashion or sales world. I left feeling very confident and have since associated very fond memories with the suit. Quintin is someone you trust, who makes you want to return again and again to Hugo Boss; he is the reason I continue to recommend friends and family to shop at this location on Michigan Ave in Chicago. What can I say. I was caught in a bind. I had planed to get the tux for my wedding from a family friend and planned well ahead and ordered it 2 months before the wedding. Three weeks before the wedding it came in and it was pin stripped and not going to work. They said they would fix it and get us it in a week. When the second on came it was the same thing!! Crazy and frustrated we went on the search here in Chicago. We went to three stores and now had one week to get the tux fitted and altered. We hit the big places you think of Nordstrom and formally modern tux an they could do nothing. As a last resort we tried Hugo Boss in a bit of a frantic state. They saw us racing around and asked if they could help. Joel know exactly what we were looking for. He told us to sit down offered us a drink which was certainly needed needed. He provided us with a shirt and shoes to tried the tux on with. It was perfect. The say to come back a few days later. We returned and the same amazing service was there to take care of a final fitting. As the five star rating says this experience was as good as it gets!! One less thing to stress about for our big day. I wish we had just come here first. read more

Was shopping around for a new pair of black wingtips and went into Hugo Boss as a last resort and I was blown away. I've never been a fan of the Hugo Boss label and they aren't exactly known for their shoes, but I was pleasantly surprised by their selection. I worked with Selling Manager Santos Pagan and he was extremely patient and helpful. Not pushy, no pressure, and made sure I got exactly what I wanted. I found a pair of wing tips I really liked but the sizing was way off. I measure a 9 but ended up going through several pairs to find out that a 6 in Hugo Boss was my size. Either way, Santos was super patient and even showed me a few other items I might be interested in. Closed the purchase and walked out a happy customer. I will be back again for more stuff as long as this quality of customer service stays put. read more

I was at Hugo Boss last weekend buying a suit for a very special occasion - my wedding - and had an excellent experience with the salesman Ian. He helped me find a perfect suit and paired it with a great tie that I wouldn't have even considered. I'll look like a million bucks thanks to his help, and he turned me into a Boss suit man for life. Sure, it's spendy, but it's top quality stuff. And the service at this store in particular is excellent. You'll pay comparable prices at Kenneth Cole, but get hardly any attention from the sales staff. At Hugo Boss, they'll help you find whatever you're looking for. You really can't go wrong here. Hugo Boss- This is a really wonderful store, and I think most people who are reading these reviews will know the type of clothing they carry. A lil classic, urban, metro, and edgy. The sales people here are actually very down to earth, free of pretentiousnes, and professional. This store is great, but not for the reasons you think though. The suits they carry are all kind of mediocre to me. Yea.They can be a little bit more progressive and stylish as compared to a Brooks Brothers suit, but in terms of construction and quality it just isn't there. Comparing Hugo Boss to Ralph Lauren? lol. No way. If you have $$ go to Ralph Lauren and get yourself a proper suit. There is no way that anyone should take a Black or Purple Label over a Hugo Boss. I should know....trust me! :) A Thom Browne suit over a Hugo Boss would be ideal too. If you are looking for a mid range kind of suit though, Hugo Boss might be for you. The Hugo Boss store excels at edgy and classic casual and sports clothing. Their leather jackets, Orange Label, and sport shirts are all wonderful and kind of expensive. The sweaters at this store are also really great, but hella expensive. The Michigan Ave store normally has the dress/suits/formal clothing at the very top.. The great thing about shopping at Hugo Boss is you don't have to be a fashion junkie to pick something that will look nice. Their selection of dress shirts and ties is excellent. I haven't purchased any of their suits, but have friends that swear by them. I was pleasantly surprised that they allowed an exchange of a 3 week old item when it disentegrated under my iron (low heat on 100% cotton... go figure). Mr. Boss loses one star in this review because the clothing is hit and miss for durability. I like to think I take good care of my clothes, but I've had problems with 3 items. Additionally, the service is more hands-off than at most stores. That bugs me, but it seems to be a matter of preference for most people. read more

My husband and I shopped here a couple of weeks ago and we purchased a sports coat, several shirts and some pants - some of which needed altering - and we wanted it all shipped in just a few days so we would have it for our daughter's graduation in CA. Olive helped us and she was terrific. They shipped it all on time but Fedex had a little hiccup and it didn't get to us before we left town. Miguel in shipping rerouted the package to CA so it would be waiting for us when we arrived. Then the hotel refused the package since the name on box didn't match the name on reservation just right. I'll give this store 3 stars because they happened to have exactly what I was looking for. Also the lady who cashed me out was nice but other than that, I seemed to bounce around from sales person to salesperson. That was a bit obnoxious. The sales people are also a bit cold too which I am disappointed. Given how expensive their items are and generally how empty the store was, I'd expect them to be a bit friendlier. So here is how the three stars goes. One for the fact they had exactly what I wanted, the next star is for the salesperson who gave it to me and the last is for the friendly lady who rang me up in the end so I'll up it to 3.5 stars. Great service and good enough inventory. I browse this store every now and then heading to Nordstroms. Staff is generally very helpful but I am yet to find clothes that fit my requirements (US stores are short on "slim fit" clothes in general) but I have managed to find some great shoes. I have seen some complaints about customer service and I would like to counter. I recently bought a Boss suit during a business trip but did not have time for alterations. I called this store once back in Chicago and inquiring on who they would recommend to see for the needed alterations. I was tired of hearing from the soon to be blissful brides asking if I had gotten a new suit. "Did you get it yet?" "You know my wedding is not that far away and you are in the wedding?!" I needed a suit...my other one was... um... not up to snuff. I enlisted the help with fashion lover and men suit buying fanatic Caroline A to give me her impartial judgment. I needed someone to tell me, "Yes", "No", "Um.. hell no....", plus we were traversing the ever hellish waters of Michigan Avenue. Seriously. Its tourist laden craziness. I, am not a fan. I am a fan of this place though! Some where, down deep I knew I wanted a Hugo suit. We had gone in to several stores. The first one we went to, among several other designers, was a Hugo, and it looked good, but wasn't the one I was looking for. I wanted the three button, black suit I saw one night on a web page. When we came in here, Caroline and I climbed the stairs to the top floor where the suits lay. We were greeted quickly by two ladies adorned in black, we greeted back and moved around to survey the land. Well, if my heart wanted a Hugo, I thought we would find it here. We walked over to where some were hung up, Caroline not entirely sure I would get a three button suit that looked good on me. I saw one and our eyes lit up. Damn, that was a fine suit. After about 3 minutes of looking at it, a gentleman named Ian, came over and asked if we needed any help. I told him that I was looking for a classic black suit, preferably a three button. He said they didn't make a two button in black, only three. YAY!! He looked at me, sized me up and asked me to try one jacket on, "Hmmm, it looks okay... let me get you a 38 short and we will see how it looks on you." He did, I tried it on and it looked amazing. Caroline even looked at it and said, confidently, "Yes, that is the one." I agreed. Alterations were made, (free with a full priced suit), my debit card was run, I even got a tie to boot. All at the same prices of Nordstroms and other places. Yes, the sales staff can be alouf... I just wonder if anyone asked for help? Not everyone likes to be hounded, but I got great help, ask for Ian if you ever go. I left with a smile on my face knowing I got the suit I wanted and I looked good in it. Damn good in it. I look forward to picking it up after September 2nd, but even more, wearing it to those weddings. I will do my best to try and not upstage the bride. read more

I could have sworn I already reviewed this store. Rob L. and I were on a mission... a mission to find a classic suit for fancy shmancy occasions. Typically, I have not been a big fan of Hugo Boss. I've always been a more Brooks Brothers, Brioni, Zenga fan, but was pleased when I browsed the store. HB is more for the guy with an edge, a little bit of bad boy... appropriate clean up apparel for the guy in cargo shorts, bald head and aviators. Ian was terrific. He eyed Rob up and down and came out with the perfect size. It fit him perfectly and the suit needed just minor alterations. He also helped pick out the perfect tie for a dressy occasion. I'm going to take of one star because I don't think they have a great selection of women's clothing. I don't think I saw anything I liked. And that is rare. Guys... I'd definitely recommend Hugo Boss if you're looking for something a little more edgy than a typical business suit. I think the cuts are more modern than a suit at RL or BB. To me, their suits are more dressy than business. Great ties too. read more

Awful customer service. Fiance bought a suit and a blazer at a separate location and we're told to go to the Michigan Ave store for the alterations. When arriving we were ignored by the sales associates, until we requested assistance. During the fitting they told us they were going to charge us for the alterations, which we responded we had been told they were included with the price of the suit & jacket. They then essentially called us lairs and the issue resulted in them personally calling the associate at the other store to verify if we had bought from them. After the fitting we were given a ticket for the items and told they would be ready June 1st (the ticket also had this date on it) and we're told they would also call us when it was ready. By June 9th we still hadn't heard from them so I called the store. I was put on hold for 10 minutes and passed around between 3 employees before finally being told it wasn't going to be ready until the 11th. When I told them the ticket date we were given said the 1st I was called a liar again. Once we get our items back we won't be returning to this location. I would give them zero stars if I could. read more

I love this store. The staff is generally really nice and respectful of your personal space. I've made numerous purchases here, and have found the staff extremely helpful every time. Once you spend a certain amount at the store, be ready to start getting invited to private sales and such. The coolest perk was during the holidays, when Hugo Boss sent me a gold gift card that was either worth $50, $100, or $200. I had to go in the store to find out. It turned out to be $50 off, but still... that's a huge discount! read more

DO NOT buy a Hugo Boss dress shirt. Unlike many other more affordable shirt makers, Hugo Boss sill places labels around the neck region that scratches your skin and is absolutely irritating to wear. This store has recently been remodeled and is now reminiscent of the Hugo Boss Columbus Circle in NYC. The suite selection has been upgraded, there is Black and Red label available, and new contemporary designs are there also. There is now a large Orange label collection on the first level with an extensive collection of pants. There is now a large women's collection, with casual and more dressy wear available. I have been shopping at Hugo Boss in Chicago for several years now. I have always been a fan of Hugo Boss clothing and despite being able to shop at Hugo Boss in New York and other cities I keep coming back to this store. My biggest draw is a saleperson by the name of Quentin. Over the years Quentin has helped me shop for weddings both here and in Europe, for new jobs and nights on the town. Somehow not only does he understand my style but remembers it year after year. Its come to a point now that I only shop there if he is working. In my opinion he is the 5 star of this 5 star store.
