You can't go to the mall and not stop by H&M! Well this particular day they had a sale due to the holiday. This was a greats sale. There were so many sale racks with great quality clothing. The value of the clothes were great. Event those that were regular priced. That's my type of party!! Walking in I was greeted and asked if I needed any help. That I can appreciate. Good customer service goes a long way. The store was clean and everything was organized. And the best part was that the line wasn't too and it moved fast. 6/14/2026 Sunday, Michigan Ave H&M flagship store. I had some returns, arrived with several customers waiting in front of the store to open. They opened 3 min after posted time. Staff: unfriendly, bureaucratic practices in place ("go to customer services") just to make you wait in another line. Simple return was not so simple. Two ladies working in sync (same attitude), one barely speaks English. What to expect, one could say? It's Chicago, another store will be closing soon. Who would like to deal with such an attitude, rudeness, unprofessional approach on Sunday? Do not visit this store, it's horrible, right from the late opening. read more

H&M isn't my cup of tea, but my Gen Z kids love it. The clothes aren't high quality, they lack originality, they fit horribly and aren't made to last. It's all fast fashion. You're going to wear this stuff for a season or two and then move onto the next trend. But it's cheap. If that's how you roll, this place is for you. For the amount of tourists who shop this Mag Mile store, it's shocking how friendly the staff always seem to be. You'd also think with the sheer volume of customers that it looks like a yard sale, but they keep it pretty organized. If you're driving, the closest garage is behind H&M at Michigan and Pearson. At $35 for a few hrs, it's really not horribly priced. -I mean all things considering. The closest L station is the red line at Chicago and State. It's about a 5 block walk. read more

I just don't like that there is never anyone available to help and the insanely long lines. The quality of their clothing is hella awesome. Great place to shop if you're into an edgy look. The reason why we went to this shop was because they had the H&M home collection and we're severely interested in that. So we make a bee line for the top floor to check out their house pieces. It figures, they do need to evolve as well. H&M shoppers are growing up, they're starting to rent apartments and buy houses. You know, grown up stuff. So it just makes sense to sell grown up things. The over all shopping experience would've been great. That's if the check out wasn't so "RATCHET". I used my "Samsung Pay" to pay for my throw pillow covers. Her exact words were. "If you're gonna use credit, im gonna need to see your credit card and an ID." I replied, "I don't think I could do that since I just paid with my phone." She insisted I give an ID and a credit card. So I gave her my phone with the card used and my ID. She then was like, "I can't see your name on that phone credit card. You're gonna have to show me something with your name on it." I grabbed my Hilton Credit card which is my back up credit card. It's not even the same credit card used to purchase the items. That totally satisfied this associates ratchetness and gave me my receipt for my puchases. This was highly uncescessary, her attitude and her ignorance was very frustrating. I was very very close to asking for a manager, but I'm not that type. Please have your associates trained in new technology that you guys currently have. I would hate for someone to go through what I went through. Specially the fact that she spoke loud enough for everybody to hear. Great $ value, but the store experience features a miserable hour line of 50 people and just 2 lovely, but overworked cashiers. 2 of 6 checkout stations on the first floor are in operation and the manager doesn't open an additional register when asked by several shoppers. Today we spent a family afternoon taking our kiddos around Michigan Avenue to do a bit of shopping. We stopped in to H&M to purchase a couple of jackets for our boys. It was super quiet in there (and I know how crazy this place can get), and yet getting any service was like pulling teeth. First off, we saw a jacket we liked and asked one of the associates if it was possible for him to check around to see if they had a bigger size in any of the locations. He said they don't do that and suggested we download the app and figure it out from there (ummm...we've done that before). Then, I went to hang something up on their wall rack, and the entire rack fell down with a bunch of jackets. I found a sales assistant to let her know what happened. She seemed annoyed and tried to be as nice as possible. I even offered to assist her, but she didn't want my help. Okay, the good. I was super excited to see the home collection live and in person, because I had only seen it online. Some of the collection felt like a mix of Crate & Barrel, Target, and The Home Store. I loved the bedding/bath options. The linen sheets seemed really fresh and springy, and they had some soft fluffy towels and fabulous throws. I did see some blankets on a rack that were super thin and didn't seem very soft. My top favorite items were the linen bathrobes in soft muted colors, and the Mr. and Mrs. glasses for the spa bathroom. Ooh, wait, the stuff for kids bed and bath was super cute too. I still love the many levels of clothing options at H&M, and you can always find a great deal for a last minute fun dress. Aren't brick 'n mortar stores feeling the pain of online shopping? Why not use a keypad security entry to discourage whomever they are trying to discourage? You would think that a retailer as successful as H&M would hire associates who can get something done for their customers without huff and puffs. This isn't the case. I called this Michigan Ave location twice about an item on hold. TWICE I have received nothing but a bad attitude and response from workers who obviously despise being at work. Well, all is right again once I visit a city with an H&M. Pssssst, H&M HQ...Kansas City is ready for you. Sure, a lot of it is overpriced, horribly made clothing and, yes, I feel guilty thinking about how stores like this are making the whole "Made in the USA" Union Label a thing of the past (side note: there is an excellent guilt-inducing documentary about this called, "Schmatta: From Rags to Riches to Rags). My intentions are pure, though. I try to shop H&M only for sales (they can be remarkable). But, it's true, I have been know to be swayed by, say, the Sonia Rykiel lingerie collection as soon as it came out in December (the clothing collection that came out last month, OTOH is dreadfully garish. The lingerie line, which is now *SOB* marked down 75%, is beautiful. Think JPG merged with burly q style bras, garter belts and slips and robes, in colors like pale pink and black. Are you le sighing with me? It's no use, though. The line is defunct. You're SOL unless you can fit into one of the size 32 As that are left). Sometimes, if you really look, you'll find a gem. About 5 years ago, I found my very favorite wool 40s style blazer that has fabric covered buttons that curve up in an asymmetrical line (I am more than slightly obsessed with asymmetrical buttons). I bought it in two colors, army green and black, and both were marked down from $65 to $35. And I still wear them religiously. This past January, I found two vintage style cropped angora sweaters, one in black and one in gray and marked down from $30 to $15 (although cheap angora is probably ready for the garbage at the end of the season). Speaking of "ready for the garbage," it's probably not news to you, but one H&M in Manhattan was caught throwing away clothing that didn't sell. This was a major "shame on you," and I believe they corrected that "practice" (that their HQ said was an exception, not the norm, but I'm not buying it. There is just SO MUCH crap, some of it truly hideous. Who the hell is gonna buy all those pairs of silver MC Hammer Pants, pray tell?) You're probably wondering, is this REALLY a 4-star review? Yes, it is. Besides the guest designers, besides the extreme markdowns, I do pick up my staples for cheap here (wool blend tights, cotton wifebeaters, leggings, accessories) when I'm visiting back home. It's also a 4-star review, because I found a really freaking AWESOME race car jacket in the little boys department and no, it's not for me (though I was tempted to see if I could fit in a size large, I ain't gonna lie). The 4-stars is also because I noticed a major difference in customer service here in Chicago as opposed to that in New York City, where I have been going since it opened in uh, 2000. In Chicago, the staff will actually *gasp* greet you and help you if you need it. They don't snarl at you in the fitting room, either. It's enough to make me consider holding off all my H&M trips until I come back to Chicago. That is, until Kansas City gets one of their own. read more

The lines in this store drive me crraaazzzzyyyy, but I decided to brave them because I heard H&M had a maternity section. Whoo hoo! The maternity section didn't turn out to be much to whoo hoo about because it was incredible small. It's located in the back near the baby clothes if you're looking for it. I did find a somewhat cute, inexpensive black dress, but not sure it was worth waiting 30 min for a fitting room and then another 20 min at the cash register. OMG!!!... I freaking love this store it's absolutely my favorite, overall. This store has pretty much everything from casual to business trends, at extremely affordable prices. Unlike other competitive stores, I've realized that H & M's fashion trends are up to style all the time. This complex of shops (featuring H & M) on Michigan Avenue was designed by noted architect Lucien Lagrange. The building looks like it would fit in very stylistically on the chic boulevards of Paris, although this version looks a bit more like a stage set or one of those copycat buildings in Las Vegas. The clock on the central roof is its nicest feature, and you can't blame the architect for incorporating large picture windows to showcase the trendy merchandise of H & M. read more

I have mixed bag of feelings for this trendy store.Couple of things at this store are very reasonable in terms of price and are trendy too. But lot of stuff is not worth spending the money. I always like going into this store because they always have nice offerings. This location is huge, so it's easy to find yourself spending at least an hour inside. I think they have gotten better about being more organized and taking care of misplaced clothes. One thing I don't like about H&M is their bras. Maybe the quality has changed but after a week, the underwire in my bra came out. A person I knew was working there as a seasonal position. They were constantly being scheduled on top of her school hours. They would constantly mess up their schedule and they would go a whole week without working. They would tell the managers that they couldn't work those days and The managers would always tell them "we'll fix it" but they never did. They gave them the availability since she first started and they never could manage. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. The managers claimed that their mess up and scheduling them on their school days, were considered call offs, which lead to "cutting ties" with them. Basically if you're a college student, DO NOT WORK HERE!! Managers here aren't trained enough, especially to mess up scheduling the entire time while they worked. Don't come here. I've also had a poor experience while purchasing my items. They were just giving me a rude tone while purchasing my clothes. read more

I went to the Michigan avenue location in Chicago which opens at 11am. . At 11:30 am they told me I could not use the cordoned off dressing rooms until noon because they had no staff to monitor them. They nevertheless welcomed me to wait in the extremely long check out line to purchase the mountain of items I had amassed, try them on at home, and then return what I didn't want. NO THANKS! Note to self: Do not go on weekends. This mama don't do extra drama. I haven't been here in the longest time but I'm a good friend and tagged along with my friend after lunch. I've been here during the week days and duh, so much better, a lot less crowded and annoying. But God Damn, I've never ventured out around here during the weekends and it was crowded and hot as fuck. After following my friend around I finally decided to make some eye contact with some clothes out of boredom and found a cute black skirt that's work appropriate. I win. 1. I ONLY shop here on weekdays in the middle of the day. 2. Don't shop here for clothes that you expect to last. This is a great place to go for single season, fashionable items. In our world of mass consumerism, this means this is 3-6 months before you toss it in the trash (or better yet, donate). I have a few cute fall coats from here. When I need a signature piece to make an old outfit new, this place is great. WARNING: THIS PLACE IS MEAN TO CHICKS WITH TITS. This means that sometimes you need to go 2-4 sizes up to get a dress or top that will fit your bewbies (and hence be baggy elsewhere). Horrible customer service. First they will not post the stores phone number as they will not allow a customer to call to do an item check. The number given is a customer service number and they are not allowed to contact the store either. I won't be shopping H&M during the holidays since they do not value their customers. If they knew how to run their business correctly, they would have someone in the store providing customer service especially around the holidays. There are alot of other stores that do provide this service to their customers. Oh and of course their inventory computers are down so they can't tell you if any of the stores even carries the item you want that is OUT OF STOCK online. read more
