Went here midday to return shirts that were received as gifts. One can bring their ill-fitting online-ordered dress shirts as long as one has their shipping receipts and materials. Was able to walk out with 2 out of 4 properly fitting shirts, the other 2 are being shipped directly to me. There were 4 staffers working while I was there. All staffers were smartly dressed, and helpful. For sale are the most awesome Chicago Flag cufflinks for $99. Anyone interested in Chicago flag cufflinks should come to this location to check them out. I've been huge fan of CT as an online shopper for several years, and I have been quite impressed with their level of customer service. In 2018, I had a delightful experience as I browsed the London store on Jermyn Street; I was greeted warmly and felt comfortable perusing their shirts and ties. It was... well, a fabulous experience. More recently, however, I visited their store in downtown Chicago, and, wow, it was one of the most miserable shopping experiences I've ever had. I was vacationing in southern Wisconsin and decided to endure the miserable journey south with two simple goals in mind: Indulge in one of Chicago's famous pizzas and stop by CT to pick up some new slacks, sweaters, and shirts. As soon as I walked in the front door, I knew I was in for a dramatically different shopping experience. There was a lone customer browsing suits on his own while four salesmen stood near the registers trying to look busy. Only one of them could be bothered to even look my way when I stepped inside. No greeting. Not even a smile. So I wandered alone to the back of the store to check out their fall line of slacks. As I stood at the display, three of the four salesmen walked by me in succession and pushed through a door into what I assumed was the stockroom. Still no acknowledgement from any of them. Still not as much as a glance. After a few minutes, I'd found a pair I wanted to try on (CT slacks are notoriously ill-fitting on my challenging 34X36 waist and legs). Looked around... nope, no salesmen, so I walked to the registers and basically had to beg the remaining salesman to assist me. Well, in short, CT's new line of slacks are as weird fitting as their old line of slacks. And by that time I was so incredibly annoyed with the staff that I didn't bother looking at shirts or sweaters, I just left. In summary: Avoid this location at all cost. It's not worth dealing with Chicago traffic much less the miserable Pretty-Woman-in-the-Boutique level of customer service. read more

My husband recently received a well-deserved promotion, so being the sweet wifey that I am, I decided to buy him some new shirts. Dressed for success! I walk by Charles Tyrwhitt all the time, and it always looked like a "spendy" place. I couldn't be more wrong. They seem to have sales and promotions all the time. I ended up buying 5 shirts, which were super reasonably priced at $29.95 each. This was a promotion from a catalog I'd received, so your mileage may vary as far as promotional pricing. I did notice that on-sale but in-store pricing was slightly higher, but still a good deal. They also have a loyalty program wherein you buy 9 shirts and you get the 10th free. Ramon assisted me, and made great recommendations on style and fit. We decided on the "slim fit" style in and I picked out some spiffy colors and patterns. Ramon mentioned that anything I liked that wasn't in stock, could be ordered from the UK, and shipping would be free. That meant I wasn't confined to just what they had in stock. The shirts are of extremely high quality and they come in so many colors and patterns that you're sure to find something. The "slim fit" fits like a dream and I earned lots of brownie points. Just for fun, I couldn't resist buying a pair of union jack socks for my half-English husband. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that I was inadvertently was charged shipping for one of the shirts I bought that wasn't in stock (when I'd been told that shipping was free). I didn't notice it immediately so I had to go back to the store to get the shipping refunded (shipping from the UK ain't cheap!). It wasn't a huge big deal, but still slightly annoying. My fiance and I went into this location recently to purchase a white shirt for our wedding. It should have been the easiet purchase and the easiest sale. The salesman took him to the dressing room and promptly left. After waiting, I went to find him and he finally came to answer my fiance's questions about fit. The neck was perfect, but the length wasn't right. The salesperson didn't provide any other options for my fiance and left again. Another customer in the dressing room had their salesperson stay nearby. I wish my fiance could have received the same service. I don't know anything about shirts and suits, but I encouraged my fiance to try on a shirt with the same size for the neck, but different size length. That ended up working. Finally the guy came back handed us the shirt and left again. We went to the register and waited. And waited. No one came so we left. My fiance is a longtime customer and was so disappointed in the experience. He just could not get any personalized service. It was close to closing time, so they must have wanted to rush and get out of there. I'm a salesperson, so I know the feeling, but I also know to make sure to hide it and provide a high level of customer service no matter the time of day. A white shirt for a wedding? Like most of you, I've seen the Chas Tyrwhitt full page ads in airline magazines and elsewhere. I was always reluctant to do a mail order due to so many fit choices and variability by brand. During a recent trip to Chicago I saw a special advertised on the L and didn't realize there was a retail store on LaSalle. As soon as I entered, a gent took me to the dressing area to determine my shirt fit. The Slim fit looks absolutely like a custom-fit shirt. Most guys wear shirts that are too baggy and trust me, with a proper fitting shirt, you look like $1mm. After the fit determination, you head to the section with your fit style and you can quickly find your size "pigeon hole" which runs consistent horizontally across the wall displays. In each slot is 2 of the same shirt, one button-down, the other french cuff. Then you get down to type collar, fabric, colors - and there are many, many choices. The staff (Nick and Adam - thank you) was very helpful with making selections, some that I otherwise would not have picked. I went back at least 3 times and now own about 16 CT shirts. I get lots of compliments and questions about them. During my last trip I brought a friend in and he bought 10 shirts. it is a really pleasant place to shop, and the hours are great. Don't overlook their other men's clothing -very dapper. There are always specials, and the semi-annual sales before the seasonal turnover are incredible. read more

Look for "4 for $___ " and offer codes/ Groupons, etc. I had trouble finding a couple styles on sale in my size, called the 866- number and was connected to a super courteous young Brit. She helped me navigate the sizes and gave me pricing. She then checked the web for "discounted pricing." Sure enough the $69 ($150ish "retail") shirt I had looked at online "on sale" --was repriced to $48. I didn't ask; happened automatically. Brilliant. These are the 6th & 7th shirts I've ordered from CTshirts, going back a couple years. Love their non-iron offerings. I find the shirts' quality on par with Brooks Bros, where I procured most of my shirts previously. Although I was already familiar with the store, Scott was very helpful with my purchase. He made recommendations, that I could not partake in at that time, but I did appreciate it. In addition to that he gave me no trouble at all about using a promotion, that I received directly from CT via email. I have personally witnessed, in the past, some less than ethical methods by employees and their leaders, to prevent clients from using promotions in store, even when the guidelines of the promotion say you can. However this seems to have changed for the better and Scott was a direct reflection of that. Job very well done Scott. read more

This is nothing against the downtown store, just against their online store. I got some great shirts for myself last year near the beginning of the pandemic. That's why the two stars, and if it just been that experience, it would have been a four or five-star review. But a friend admired my CT shirts so much that I decided to get him several as a late birthday gift. They arrived, but did not fit him at all. I relied on their seemingly generous six-month return policy to initiate the return process, but because these shirts were monogrammed, they refused to take them back. They said their policy was clearly posted, but I certainly did not see it. I understand that they cannot resell monogrammed shirts, but what if the shirts don't fit, as in this case? I found their policy to be unacceptable, and disputed their charge with my credit card company. read more

The Charles Tyrwhitt line itself is very sophisticated dress for very reasonable prices, and I believe it's likely among the best quality brands for this price point (ties from approximately forty to one hundred dollars, shirts for approximately fifty dollars when buying multiple, suits for around four hundred). Tie quality, in particular, is superb. A person just starting to build their business wardrobe would be very wise to start out here, and could amass an impressive starter kit for less than a thousand dollars. (The key to a smart wardrobe is buying shirts and ties that all go with each other!) I haven't bought a suit here, so I can't comment on that experience. I've been familiar with the company for years because of its online presence, so I already know my measurements and shirt fit here. My point is, I couldn't get a good feel for the staff because I didn't really need to interact with them. They seemed fine enough. I was greeted and checked on more than once, and they were able to assist me with a complicated exchange that involved shipping a shirt to me that they didn't have in-store. I, personally, don't have any qualms with staff, but I could maybe see why some might find them off-putting. To each their own. I imagine the store is a welcome addition to Chicago, as an associate said a significant portion of the company's online orders are from Chicago. It is also smartly located away from Michigan Avenue. 5 star customer service - Thanks to Sales Associate Chris Jones! I have been buying custom shirts for 5 years now and would have not considered Charles Tyrwhitt. However, I have been dealing with an ongoing issue with Sebastien Grey Clothiers (after 6 months they still can't get my shirts to properly fit and have refused to reimburse me!) and needed some new dress shirts quickly. A friend mentioned Charles Tyrwhitt shirts are as close to custom as you get, without going custom, and worth me trying. I gave them a call yesterday and spoke with Chris on the phone - he was pleasant to speak with over the phone and told me to come on in and he would take great care of me. Shopping in the store on a Saturday in the loop is the way to go - very little traffic and top-notch service. I walked in and was immediately greeted by Chris (by the way, the other 2 sales reps were great to work with as well). He walked me through the details of the current sale (5 shirts for $200, plus a tie), helped determine the proper fit & size shirts needed and assisted me in picking out the shirts. Chris also had great advice on a tie that would work with ALL of the shirts I bought (needed the advice as I generally do not buy ties). The service was some of the best I have ever experienced. No surprise the founder is a multi-millionaire - he gets what it takes to keep customer happy and his people happy (all 3 sales associates seemed to really enjoy working here). Glad to see exceptional customer service still exists - and at a more than reasonable value. I've been getting mail-bombed by these guys for years, and ignored them because I already had shirts busting out of every dresser in my home. Sometimes though, good advertising will stick in someone's head for when they need it most. So - surprising absolutely nobody, Delta managed to leave my bag at JFK during a day of really bad weather-related IROPs. I couldn't complain too much - at least they managed to get me there, if not my clothing. For once though, I neglected to bring a decent shirt in my laptop bag along with my 1-day "lost suitcase emergency underwear kit". So - it's 7AM the day after my flight, Delta still have no clue when they'll get my bag to me, and I have to look sharp for a morning meeting. How is it that every men's store in Chicago doesn't open until 10AM? But wait, I think - that Tyrwhitt spammer has a store in Chicago too, right? Guess what? They open at 8! I hurriedly shower and grab a cab over from the W Lakeshore, step inside, and the staff spring into action. I get quickly measured, the staff gently tell me that my paunch might be a stretch for their sizing of a slim-fit shirt, and we agree on a superb-looking French-cuffed classic-fit dress shirt that fits me as if it were bespoke. I pick up a pair of silk temp-cuffs at the checkout till, and the staff offer to steam/iron the shirt so that it doesn't look like I just bought it and walked out of the store with it. All in all, I paid less than I would have at Brooks (even had I used my corporate discount there), and had a better in-store experience than I've had at nearly any other men's clothing retailer in the world. Awesome. Super high class store and quality shirts. Sometimes if you don't catch things on sale it can be pricey. But if you catch it at a good time it's amazing. We caught it on Labor Day where everything was an extra 25% off, and they had 5 shirts for 240$ at that time. My husband only wear Charles shirts. They last FOREVER. He wears them every single day and has not worn through a single one, some he has had for 5+ years. We ended up buying 10 shirts, (plus for every 10 shirts you buy you get the 11th free) so for 11 shirts, 240+240 = 480 with 25% off = 360 total, which is 32$ per shirt for the best men's shirts money can buy. read more

​I stopped into this store which up until this point I had only seen online. The store is uber organized which I loved. I was met by a really helpful guy. I told him I had never purchased from CT before and he right away offered to measure me. At first attempt he got my neck and arm measurements down correctly and then eyeballed which fit of shirt would work best on me. I quick tried on shirts that were set aside for sampling and then he gave me a tour of the store explaining how things were arranged. Shirts are in slots lining the walls arranged by size. French cuff shirts on the bottom and button cuffs on top. Signs above each column note whether it is non-iron or not and what type of collar the shirt had (classic or cutaway). I was about to check out with 3 shirts, when he told me it would actually be a few dollars cheaper to get 4, so I did that. Unfortunately the casual shirts are not sized very specifically and so the M which fit in the body didn't fit in the sleeves. So I can't wear the casual shirts from here, but the extra slim fit dress shirts fit like a custom shirt and I'm really happy with them. read more

As one of only a handful of Charles Tyrwhitt stores in the US I was very happy to find one in my travels to Chicago. The shirts here, which I have been buying online for well over a year, are reasonably priced and of very high quality. They seem to constantly running a special where they are 4 for $199. I would only recommend buying them 4 at a time otherwise they are quite pricey. The suit selection here is also great. I ended up buying my first suit from CT on my most recent visit because I was hesitant on buying one sight unseen through their online store. Now that I have tried a few on I wouldn't hesitate to order online. The sales associate, Veronica(?), was nice enough to take my measurements without me purchasing anything. The next day I went in and bought a sweet cobalt blue suit from another associate who had actually transferred from one of their London stores. Overall a great experience. read more

Beautiful shirts! Love the style, fitting for a proper British gentleman. While the store is a wee bit on the small side, it is easy to navigate and not cluttered in the slightest. Location is super convenient to those in the financial district and I adore the fact that it is not situated on Michigan Ave. or Oak St., so I am not forced to wade through throngs of tourists to shop. A very civilised experience. The colours pop and I am a prefer spread collars, so these appealed to me right away. Sadly, my shoulders and chest do not allow me the flexibility to wear "slim fit," for they have a rather large selection of those. The regular fit suits me just dandy. A skosh of the smaller side, so if you are close you may want to go up a notch. Charles Tyrwhitt, specifically Ramon Loyola, saved my wedding! I have been a CT customer for a few years now, about 70% of my dress shirts are CT. I purchased custom made suits from a tailor in Thailand for myself and my wedding party. Unfortunately one of my groomsmen's suit didn't fit and was beyond repair. Asking anyone to match a suit and tailor it in less than 5 days is quite an ask, yet CT jumped on board and made it happen. I was obviously frantic but had faith in CT as they have impeccable customer service. The store manager Ramon promised me he would personally oversee the expedited tailoring of the suit, even giving me his cell phone number. While the "expedited tailoring" was a 2-week minimum at a nearby high-end tailor, CT was able to push it out in 2 days. I am indebted to CT for getting my groomsmen in good shape so he didn't stick out at my wedding. If you need classic or modern shirts, a very solid shirt or a snazzy tie, this is your place! read more

I once again had a great experience at Charles Tyrwhitt. I have shopped for shirts online with them for years as well as in the multiple NYC stores. Was thrilled when a storefront opened in Chicago as I like to buy suits in store. I found another great suit yesterday whilst being assisted by Carlos. He asked great questions to understand me as a customer then found exactly what I was looking for. Left with 4 shirts. A tie, and a beautiful new luxury suit. As for the quality, the shirts are an amazing value when purchased at the bundle deal. They are very well made and wear well. With the 3 cuts available and the multitude of options from cuff to collar, I couldn't get a custom shirt to fit better. The suits are also outstanding. They have bespoke features at off the rack pricing. From the luxurious material, floating canvas chest, to horn buttons, to working cuffs, they are impeccable. Friends pay 3 times what I do for my Tyrwhitt suits and yet I get the compliments all around. Apparently not only do I look smart, my wallet conforms it. Thank you Carlos and of course Nick! Quality, prices and service you can't beat. I really like their quality, prices and service. I have placed orders on-line before,maybe 2 - 3 orders in the last 2 years. The shirts look good, wash well, need no dry cleaners and fit very well. I had a new shirt that did not fit me well and returns were super easy. This past order I made a mistake and ordered a wrong size. I called them and a very cheery person helped me very quickly. The call center is in UK, and they are so nice. I had to call them about two years ago and same happy experience. I have also been to stores in NY and Chicago and they offer a nice selection as well. read more

I ordered a shirt online, but before I did I asked via email to the Chicago shop's manager (if the email address was accurate that is) about how their sizes compare to Brooks Brothers. I never received a response, but ordered a slim fit pinpoint Oxford. The price looks great at first compared to BB, but the $6.00 charge for adding a breast pocket and $9.95 shipping made it maybe about $5.00 cheaper than BB. Still, I thought I'd give it a shot to check out the quality. The shirt came 10 days after it was promised, and when I tried it on the slim size was far tighter than a BB shirt of the same measurements, and the quality was like that of a Kleenex tissue. I went through the online return process, whereby Charles Tyrwhitt said that as soon as the post office scans the label I printed out (not the one that comes with the shirt, but a different one printed online) and Trywhitt was notified of the package's acceptance. It has now been 7 days since that occured, and still no refund. I called on the 7th day since I dropped off the shirt at the post office and spoke with a pleasant enough chap in the UK who said it'll probably be another five days before my account is credited. We shall see. In conclusion, the fit was terrible, email replies nonexistent, shipping times meaningless, quality of the material far lower than I expected, and the supposedly trouble-free online return process is a complete failure. I cannot unrecommend a purveyor of clothing any more than I unrecommend Charles Tyrwhitt. I will stick with BB and hope the spotty quality in some of their shirts gets better. read more

Especially since I stay within walking distance of the store when I am in Chicago for business. I have now visited this store four times. I have yet to be acknowledged by a staff member. Probably the worst customer service I've experienced in a store in a while, and I'm including Sephora, Macy's, even Walgreen. I walked in after work, looking to pick up a couple of dress shirts. Two associates were busy with checkouts, a third was helping another customer, so I figured I'd look around until I could talk to someone about what I wanted. I browse the store for a few minutes, waiting for my turn, and... nothing. Not even the basic acknowledgement from anyone that I'm in the store. Okaaay.... I ask the associate that's not at the register if there are any other associates available since everyone else is busy. He, politely enough, let's me know that one of the others should be free to help me shortly. Great! 10 min later, I wonder if maybe I had some sort of mental breakdown on my way to the store and just imagined the other two associates.... That wasn't the case because I found one helping another customer... and the second one helping the third one with the same customer. I can deal with waiting my turn, but at least acknowledge that I'm a customer. At least make it seem like you're interested in helping me and doing business with me. And if you're busy, just let me know that you'll be with me when you can. That's not a lot to ask, right? read more

Let me clarify that this is not a review of the Loop location, but CT in general. I've been buying CT shirts for the past 7-8 years, but really, they seem to have truly dropped in quality. The slim fit shirts seem to keep getting bigger and bigger. The quality is all over the place (threads hanging off all over, cuff width that can literally vary by an inch, etc).
