    Smokehouse Breakfast

The service was great (trainee 'AnnaMarie' smiling & nice, as was her mentor), and the interior remarkably clean for so much floor traffic. Breakfast was big, but Huddle House only offers Margarine, no butter (sigh). If, unlike me, Margarine is in your food groups, Huddle House is a good choice, lots of menu variety. Approx 10 booths w/cool, old-style counter seating offering 'up close & personal' ineractions w/the Cook, waffle & pancake maker, & staff. Easy entrance/exit near Hwy 19, small parking lot.

We got seated at 10:16am and they were a little busy. We got assigned Kristen, not too sure if it was her first day or if she just needs training but it was a bad experience. By 10:40am we saw there were no tickets in the kitchen and everything was cooked. Pops saw our server behind the computer and talking with another server. He turned to get her attention, she looked up and walked to the other side of the kitchen where the entrance is. She started texting on her phone and biting her fingernails, ignoring that she doesn't want to come over. I was sick of the bullspit scaredy cat nonsense because it was a cold morning and I wanted coffee so I got up and interrupted her conversation with her coworker to ask for coffee. She dropped it off at the table and said softly with no eye contact "I'm working on your ticket" and ran away. I think she was afraid of pops because 45 minutes goes by and we still had no food and new tickets were getting up in the kitchen. We watched plate after plate go by and we were the VERY last table to get our food in wave 2. She brought our food out after the whole restaurant was eating. She didn't talk to us, she avoided us, and we knew she just wanted us to go. We knew we were Table 6 because everyone was yelling table 6's food was up and she came over to get it. As soon as she delivered our food, she put the check on the table immediately. It was like she wanted us to leave? Why? Because she couldn't apologize for forgetting to put our order in and keeping us waiting? Another server asked me if I wanted butter with my biscuit which was the only interaction we had/customer service we had. The other good comment I can give is the cook in the kitchen made some AMAZING omelettes! He got the tip, we left at 11:37am and got home at 12:15pm... that was ridiculous. There was a guy there wearing a Jaguars shirt that took care of us last time, we regret not asking for him, he's AMAZING! She did ask Mama if she needed anything and made eye contact with her, Ma says, "Water?" Kristen says, "Nothing? *turns to walk away* Ok!" And starts walking away, Ma raises her voice and says "WATER!" and she says "oh!" SHE NEEDS TO LISTEN. Actually care. Please train Kristen. IMMEDIATELY. For something her fault & not putting our ticket in to the kitchen, she made us feel uncomfortable, dismissed and unwelcome. As soon as she put the bill on the table even BEFORE we even took a bite of our food-- Pops said right there her tip was gone. There were many times for her to let us know what was happening but we heard it all in the kitchen. Kristen, please go through training again and grow up to have better communication skills. If you get Kristen-- ask for a new server!!!!!!!

This is actually a few different orders from different times we visited, I forgot to take a picture of our last order it was BBQ traditional wings and country fried steak, they were both amazing I've went here 3 time within the past month every waiter we've had always has a happy attitude. The food there is excellent. I love this place. Definitely recommend.

The exterior is clean and simple. When you walk in, it's clean, simple, and a bit Chip and Joanna-esque, which I love. I was quickly greeted and told I could sit anywhere. I was given a menu and their drink menu. After being off coffee for a week, I saw that they make their own coffee syrups, so I got an iced decaf almond milk latte with their salted caramel syrup. While I waited, I looked over the menu. I really wanted to try the french toast or the waffle, but opted for the bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant and cup of their cheese grits. The latte came out quickly and tasted exquisite. Sometimes you get decaf and it tastes watery, but not this latte. My friend ordered a salad with grilled chicken on top. Everythign came out quickly. The first thing I noticed were the cheese grits. They were delicious. Rich, creamy, and flavorful. Get them. The bacon egg and cheese on a croissant was also really good. They sell coffee at their shop to bring home.

It was just after noon on a Friday when we arrived and there was a 10-minute wait for a table. Upon being seated, we were presented the menu. We both considered ordering the Reuben Sandwich but I opted instead for the Club Sandwich on Ciabatta (as recommended by our server) and a side of Seafood Chowder. We both just ordered water with a slice of lemon to drink. Our server eventually came back with my wife's Reuben sandwich served with a bag of chips and she also had my cup of chowder, commenting how the club sandwich will be served shortly. My wife liked her Reuben, with tender meat and sharp sauerkraut. She also liked how the rye bread held up to the strong flavors. My chowder was equally good but it wasn't served with crackers. We waited a while for our server to return so I could ask for some crackers but she went ghost on us. Finally, more than 10 minutes after my wife was served her sandwich, a gentleman, who we can only assume was the manager, came over to ask if I've been served my club sandwich. Of course I pointed to a clean table to indicate no sighting of my sandwich and I also asked for some crackers. A few minutes later, the same man came back with some crackers and apologized for a mix up in the back. That's when I told them to forget the club sandwich so we can be on our way. To the manager's credit, he had the club sandwich boxed up and gave it to me free of charge. He was very apologetic. I was still a bit miffed and thought about leaving the sandwich there but my wife convinced me otherwise. Needless to say, service wasn't at the forefront during that dining experience. Despite the service mix up, however, I was still inclined to give this place 4 stars for the taste and quality of the food. The staff can have some inconsistencies and I tend to believe that's not the norm for this establishment which has earned high marks on Yelp.

The service showed a real lack of knowledge and attentiveness. When I ordered whole milk for my coffee, the response was essentially "is half and half okay?" -- no, it is absolutely not okay. These are completely different in taste and calories, and it's not a reasonable substitute to casually suggest. What made it worse: oat milk, almond milk, and whole milk were all visibly sitting in the fridge right there from where I was seated at the bar. Zero effort to offer what was clearly available. The atmosphere didn't help either. The space feels like someone started building a café concept and never finished thinking it through. It's uninviting, disorganized, and oddly off -- not warm, not designed with the customer in mind. Nothing about the food, the presentation, or the space gives you a reason to choose this place over anywhere else. Not particularly tasty, not nicely decorated, not a vibe. Not sure what keeps people coming back, honestly.

The staff were very kind and attentive to our needs like coffee refills! I like that the coffees had unlimited refills (iced coffee and a hot drip coffee were the coffee options). I ordered the breakfast burrito with the additions of the pork sausage, red chili sauce, cheese, and scallions. It was very good! It did come out a bit cold so I think it may have been sitting for a little while on the window. My friend's Zada Jane's stack was pretty good as well. The sweet potatoes were cooked perfectly and the frittata hit the spot. I wasn't a fan of the peach butter for the biscuit but we definitely could've asked for a different type of butter but chose not to. I don't think the food was worth waiting one hour to just be seated, but it was a good breakfast :)
