A very solid restaurant for breakfast and lunch. I've been here many times and I've never been disappointed by the food or the service.

This is my go to when I want a hearty not so home cooked meal. I love the southern atmosphere and the hospitality to match. Waitresses are always warm, friendly, and accommodating. They always look out for the Vets with a discount. My go to food options are the waffles, French toast, fried green tomatoes, steak and eggs scrambles... the shrimp poboy with fries is really good as well. When I'm feeling frisky I order a mimosa with my brunch. Not fancy at all, and hey there right before your really hungry cause there's always a wait. read more

They are racist!! We were really excited to come here for breakfast and when we walked in we weren't greeted by the girl working at the counter when you first walk in. So we were just standing there and then a waitress came and she greeted us and told us we'd be seated in a moment. We were waiting for about 10 minutes and two more people walk in and they were immediately seated. And then two people came in after that and they were immediately seated. First time here. Saturday morning was probably the busiest time to try it! We were told the wait was 30 minutes. We actually waited 45 minutes. We reviewed the menu while waiting outside. Our server was excellent! We were very hungry and wanted our coffee as soon as we sat down. When she came by to see what we wanted to drink, she was so kind to take our food order too! Our coffee came out very quickly and our food followed right after that. Our coffee was constantly topped off and our server checked on us often to see if we needed anything. Huge portions - definitely bang for your buck. The wait on a Saturday morning is a long one, so be prepared. We were waiting in our cars to be called (like most people) and they someone skipped over us a few times (as we noticed others that came after us with a party of 2+ getting called) and we were parked right in front of the door! But it's fine... We were only starving... Anyway, once we got called, the service was good and seated outside. There is a fair amount of space in-between tables and they seem to have a system down. The food was good, but a bit on the greasy side. Ever just have the cravings for potatoes? Like fries, baked potato, hash browns, country/home-style potatoes? That was me that day. Lol, the country reds were full of flavor and I added in peppers and onions for a little bit of "green" on my plate. The huckleberry muffin was warm and soft. The butter was very complimentary to the muffin - I might say I enjoyed the muffin the most, however, wish there were more berries in there! My extended family and I came through on our way home from Winters and it was Saturday around 10:00am-10:30am for a group of 10 people. The wait seemed pretty long. A lot of smaller groups that came after us got seated before us. I was almost contemplating going to McDonalds across the street if the wait took any longer. The menu was extensive. I think it was the chicken fried steak that I opted for and it was okay. I wished there was more gravy and had more flavor, but the chicken itself was crispy. However, I just visited yesterday and I'm suffering from bad food poisoning and I am positive it's from this place because nobody in my family has food poisoning and I'm the only one who went there. I read in the reviews about others who have gotten it every visit. Another thing is the food was only so-so, I could make something at home with better flavor. Lastly, they have a time limit at how long you are allowed to sit at their tables. We were asked to leave mid important convo and it was pretty jarring and rude. I've never in my life told there's a time limit, I had to google it when I got home. Apparently some restaurants don't allow longer than 90 mins at a table. Great customer service. I love the dog friendly atmosphere as I brought my small dog. Ann, our server was amazing! Checked on us periodically. She made us feel welcome on our first visit. Went in on a whim, had decent amount of stars for me to try lol, it was actually better than I anticipated, the food was delicious and it arrived on time considering it was Memorial Day and crowded. I totally forgot the name of the dish but I devoured it! Came with a side of my choice and I decided to cheat today so I got the biscuit with gravy and wow, mouth watering deliciousness ensued, it was nice an warm and fluffy with that distinctive buttery goodness. Overall I give them 5 stars, food 4 and the extra for service, they were definitely overwhelmed but they went the extra mile to deliver and this day and age it's hard to keep a positive attitude with what's going on in the world. If you are around Fairfield and you want to go to a Diner, you have to come and try Huckleberry. They serve BF, lunch, and dinner plates. We came at lunchtime on a weekday and we didn't have any problem with parking. Also, we were seated right away and took our order immediately. The service is good and always looks after our needs and attention. We ordered the Shrimp Po boy, Rib eye, and eggs, and Chicken strips, and waffle breakfast. The Po boy sandwich has a lot of shrimp in it and once you take a bite, you'll see several shrimp falling on your plate. The shrimps were fried and soft. It has a big portion and it came along with fries. The rib eye is tender and juicy. I loved the seasoning and the flavor that came along with this plate. The sub bayou red is a good complement to the meal as well as the scrambled eggs. They also gave a big portion of the rib eye and will satisfy you. The chicken strips with waffles are delicious. The waffles are not dry and the chicken is juicy. This is the first time we've been to this place and we're satisfied with the service and the food that they serve. Next time we drive down here, we will try the other meal on their menu. read more

Super disappointing. The food here has gone down hill since we were last here. I ordered the fried green tomatoes and catfish po boy both of which was way over seasoned and salty as hell. My partner ordered French toast which wasn't properly dipped and so was basically just bread with an egg coating rather than custard in the bread. Spent $60 including tip. Every time we've been to this restaurant, everyone has treated us with dignity and respect. We appreciate that as customer service these days is pretty bad. The food: EVERYTHING IS FABULOUS!!! What a cute place!! The entire restaurant is bayou themed which is so cute. The workers were so friendly and high energy, even though it was packed on Sunday morning when we went. The beignets were delicious and all three jams were perfect. The breakfast burrito was pretty solid, although I wish there were more eggs. The chicken and waffles was unexpectedly herby and a little cheesy. I think the waffles and chicken independently were tasty, but together seemed a little confused due to the sauce on the waffles. Our weekly breakfast/brunch date led us to huckleberry's this week. The restaurant looked packed from outside but we were seated immediately. The ambiance is cute and bayou looking. The waitress introduced herself while helping another table and let us know she'd be there to help us soon. I ordered the French toast breakfast and hubs ordered the chicken and waffles we also ordered the Mardi Gras Beignets to share. The food was delicious. Breakfast was good but when we asked the waitress for the senior menu she explained that this restaurant just give 15% off the regular menu. We said ok that's fine. The place looks great, I love what they have done with the booths, it feels like your own private space. The hostess at the front desk were very friendly and welcoming. We were seated in 10 minutes and our orders were taken within minutes of us receiving our menus. Hucks Mason Jars Southern Peach Ice tea - served in a big mason jar, with peaches inside. It has a nice cinnamon-y taste to it. EGG benedicts Crab Cake - very tasty, full of flavor. I would order this again. Lunch Louisiana Catfish (bayou style) - my grandma ordered this and she said it was delicious. I will definitely be back to try more items on the menu. The food was okay the atmosphere was nice and comforting. The service was great, I've been here twice and I would recommend it for brunch.

Huckleberry's is a nice spot, part of a small chain out of the South Bay. Inside is a bit like a black bear diner so set your expectations there. Location is right off 80 and it's a nice spot for a quick sit down on your way through. Service was friendly and fast. My tip on the food is to begin with one of their signature baked goods and then dive into a scramble. The ordinary bacon and eggs fare is nothing special. read more
