I've been here two times, each time was delicious! The first I got falafel and salad, it was really good and light. Tons of flavor. Today I got the pastrami sandwich combo. The sandwich was one of the best pastrami sandwiches I've had. The bread was moist, meat was hot and tender, veggies were the right proportions. The service was killer, greeted me as I walked in and got me going quickly. They have iced tea but I wanted a lemon, so they cut some up fresh for me! That's the type of thing that will get me coming back over and over. The ambiance is a deli, nothing too flashy, but they've got plenty of seats inside and out. Big H Deli is a hidden gem in Fairfield California. The owners Zed and Louie put love into every sandwich and made-from-scratch item that comes out of eatery. I've tried quite a few items like the pasta salad, potato salad, dolma, pastrami sandwich, gyro, and the spicy chicken shawarma. Everything coming out of here is amazing and large portions to boot! One of the few places I'll say is worth your money and the trip! It wasn't super busy when we walked in and the portion sizes are very generous! We order the French dip sandwich and the flavor was great, meat was cooked just right and the sauce complimented the sandwich well, though it was a bit thicker than I thought it'd be for an Au Jus, but hey to each their own for sauces. 4/5* Their shawarma wrap was probably the most worth getting on their menu; the size of it is very generous and flavorful. Stayed in Fairfield a few times, and each time I conveniently walked over to Big H Deli to grab lunch. Each time I tried something different: chicken shawarma plate with humus and cucumber salad, pastrami on sweet roll with chips and soda combo, and falafel spicy pita. Where has this deli been my whole life?! I cannot believe that I have lived in Solano for decades and today was the first time we tried Big H Deli. Ambience: Local, neighborhood deli. No fuss or anything fancy. Clean, enough tables, and even a couple of tables outside to have lunch with your doggo. It's one of those places that makes the fabric of a community. You know that place, you walk in and it just feels right. Food: Y'all, we could not get over how good the French dip was!!! And c'mon now, is it even possible for ONE person to eat a whole sandwich alone? Louie cuts the meat fresh and piles it on. Seriously, it's like a 1.5-2" inch stack of meat. The French roll was perfect...toasted but not messy crunchy. It still had a softness to it. My husband was thrilled! The pup loved the pieces we gave her too! The au jus...yummers! Service: Zed is hilarious! He's got that dry humor that totally makes you laugh because he delivers it with such a straight face. He and Louie are so kind and welcoming. Stopped in here for lunch. I ordered a hot pastrami sandwich with Swiss cheese on a sourdough roll and half extra meat. It was absolutely delicious and huge! They sliced the meat to order. The pastrami was well seasoned without being overly salty. It also had a nice blackened crust. Very moist and tender. The bread was soft but, held up well to the monster amount of meat. Ordered a pastrami on marbled rye with yellow mustard and pickles. Sandwich was huge, just like the pictures. Pastrami was sliced thick. It was plentiful and good. Delicious! I had heard positive comments about Big H Deli and finally stopped by on Saturday after running errands in the area. We decided on ordering the Chicken Shawarma wrap combo & Turkey Sandwich combo. Also decided to order a side of cucumber salad and Italian pasta salad. The sizes of their wrap and sandwich were huge! I'm not exaggerating when I say I would drive back just for the chicken salad--it's that good. And it's about 50 minutes from my house (we picked it up on the way back from the Bay Area). We had lunch here on a weekday. Parking was easy to find. We walked up to the counter and looked at the menus on the 2 screens. We all ordered a chicken shawarma plate at the counter, paid, then sat down. Service was friendly and they were patient with us. Decent amount of seating available. Our 3 orders came out pretty quick. The plates were huge! Could probably split just the chicken into 3 or 4 separate meals for 1 person. We took our leftovers home. I thought the chicken was flavorful and tender. Made delicious leftovers too. Also enjoyed the soft pita bread on the side, the dolma, and the falafel. I thought the plate was a great deal.
