That's why this visit was disappointing. One technician did an excellent job--my pedicure from him turned out great, and I really appreciated his attention to detail. He was very neat and everything on his cart was very clean and neat in comparison to other technicians. I've had other good experiences here as well with some of the female technicians. However, this time the overall quality was inconsistent. The work done by another technician for my manicure didn't meet the same standard. I've had her before and she did better on a previous visit, but she has never done as strong of a job as some of the other technicians I've had here. The cart for this technician was not as neat and there is not much attention to detail. After filing my nails, the debris was left on my nails, and the topcoat was applied, and while she was doing French tip, she didn't do a neat job. There was a lent on one of my nails that I mentioned so that it could be removed in. After multiple attempts, it still wasn't removed so I gave up asking. I was also talked out of doing the original style of nails that I wanted to do and partially that's my fault because I should've just stayed true to what I wanted going in. I felt that the suggestions to switch are usually to make it easier on the tech not what the client really wants. When it came time to pay, I left a $5 tip because I wasn't fully satisfied with the overall service and I really wanted to leave nothing. At that point, it was suggested that the tip be split as $2.50 each. I agreed in the moment, but it felt uncomfortable. I would have preferred to give the full tip to the technician who did a great job, especially since tipping should reflect the quality of service. I also felt a bit uneasy during checkout, as there was conversation in another language that I didn't understand, and it gave me the impression that my tip was being discussed. I may be mistaken, but it added to the discomfort of the experience and this is extremely unprofessional. Tipping should be optional and based on the customer's experience. If there is an expectation for set tip amounts or shared tips, it would be more appropriate to include that in the service pricing rather than putting customers in an uncomfortable position at checkout. I'm not sure I would return after this last experience unless I could book specifically with the technicians who did my nails well. I am not satisfied with the French gel manicure and from a distance you really can't notice the flaws like I can. I hope the salon can improve consistency and be more mindful.
