I went to Hue for french mani ( gel) and regular pedi after I read her fantastic reviews and I was excited it will be one on one appointment versus large salons with several chairs I should have pay more attention to one star reviews because they were right on point! Hue was indeed very sweet yet the place did not seem to be clean at all. I had to ask for foil over the food soak bowl which it a standard in the industry. The tools and pedi scrubs were not sealed and especially the feet scrubbing tool looked used several times even the lady was assuring me it is brand new. The towels did not look clean either... Just like in one of previous revious my nails looked like five year old did it. For french mani Hue did not even use the brush to smooth out the white strip. It was so thick I knew it would not last 2 weeks. In 2 days the gel started chipping off and I went to Hue so she could fix it. It was a disaster! The nails do not look better at all. As a mater if fact she started adding mire thick layers of white strip which did not even dried in the UV light, she blamed me I am not keeping the hands centered instead of taking responsibility why the polish does not dry. In addition instead of using acetone or soak of the polish of my skin she started to file it and created a wound. I got so upset at this point. I did not have heard I am sorry and I had to ask her for ointment and bandaid as Hue did not even feel the urgency to do it on her own. I hardly write bad reviews because I rarher brag about great businesses on yelp but here I feel social responsibility to warn you about this nail salon. read more

After re-opening I expected to get my temperature taken before entering which I am glad she did, but after that I did not feel safe in this salon. Not clean at all and she did not open her tools in front of me. I even looked around for the sterilization station and did not see one. The end result was just ok. I am new to the area from Orange County and desperately needed to get my nails done. I looked on Yelp, found Harbor nails and was very intrigued when I read the reviews and saw that it had 5 stars. I called to make an appointment and was able to come in the next day when I got off work. Because I get off of work at 6:30pm it is always difficult to find a nail salon that's open. But Hue scheduled me for 8pm on a Friday night and said it wouldn't be a problem. When I arrived Hue was with a customer but politely introduced herself and got me a bottle of water. I only sat for about 5 minutes when it was my turn. She was very friendly and the conversation was warm and inviting. She also paid very good attention to my nails and took her time throughout my whole manicure. In the end, I was very happy with how my nails looked! I got a French gel manicure and everything turned out great. The price was also cheap compared to the typical high OC prices i am used to. I will definitely be coming back to Harbor Nails. I'm writing this review based on what I experienced when my sister went to get her nails done. The shop itself is tiny. But don't be fooled by looks. One manicure station, one pedicure station, as Hue (pronounced "wey") is the only one who does nails. She got my sister seated and went straight to work. Hue was very welcoming, the work is great, and she takes care of her clients. While I sat and waited for my sister to get her nails done, Hue offered me a bottle of water. I've never been to a nail place that did that. In the middle of my sister's appointment, another client came in and told us that she had been seeing Hue for over 3 years. In her words, "I've been seeing Hue longer than I've ever dated anyone!". Also, a customer called and was in need of an emergency appointment, although Hue was booked for Thursday and Friday, she set up the appointment for early Saturday morning. And by early, I'm talking waaay before any other nail salon would open. It's great to see a business owner go out of her way to make sure her clients are taken well care of. read more

Hue is a wonderful lady. It's a one woman operation and she runs it great. She even polished my daughter's nails for free. When you first walk in the shop, you don't think much of it because it's small and there is only one chair but don't be fooled by the appearance. It's the service that's great. She gave me a regular mani and pedi for $35. She did my manicure first which was actually really smart. Hue topped off my regular polish after it was dry with gel top coat. My nails were instantly dry and I got semi-gel without paying the extra price! She was quick with my pedicure but did a great job. I really appreciate her because she adjusts her schedule to mine and even fits me in at late hours. It's hard to find time working full time and having 2 kids with school too! Just got back from a great appointment with Hue what a delightful lady! My hands as and feet both feel great, no chemical odors in her shop. She does the Gel base nails with the gel polish on my hands which I've been looking for. She also has many colors of both the gel and regular polish matching. First let me say that I had NEVER had a manicure before. In fact, this was only my second time ever in a nail salon (and the other time was just waiting for someone). I was very pleasantly surprised by Hue. I walked in late, and after she welcomed me, she assured me that it was ok because she "was late too". She finished up with the woman whose nails she was doing, then she immediately brought me a water. She then proceeded to ask me about my 408 phone number (I had previously called to set-up an appointment) and she explained that she recognized the area code because her sister lives in San Jose - in fact she had thought I was her calling. Going in, I knew only two things: 1. Make sure it's sanitary 2. The Vietnamese women will probably talk smack about you to each other in Vietnamese. I'm no expert, but from what I could tell, Hue was sanitary. The devices she used were clean and each of the cleaning/buffing pads were individually wrapped. She even gave me a couple extra to take home. No troubles with trifling women. Hue is a one woman shop, and she only spoke English the entire time (she's lived here over 30 years, so she can communicate just fine). She took her time doing my nails and did what I think is a great job (granted, I don't know a lot about manicures, but since she doesn't really do walk-ins, and she can afford her huge shop on clients only, I'm assuming that people are satisfied). All that, and the manicure only cost $13. Needless to say, I was very satisfied, and I left her a generous tip (which I did not give her the opportunity to refuse - as I previously read on here that she politely refuses large tips). I obviously don't get manicures often, but I would definitely go to Hue again if I do. read more

I was in Oxnard last month and went to Harbor Nail and Salon for a gel manicure. It was the best gel manicure I've ever gotten. Seriously. It lasted for over 3 weeks with no chipping at all. Hue is the business owner and the only manicurist in the shop and she's awesome. She's very welcoming and really takes her time in shaping your nails and making sure the polish is smooth. She also guarantees the gel manicure for 2 weeks, meaning if it chips within 2 weeks you can come back and she will fix it for free. Her prices are reasonable also. I live in San Fernando Valley which is about an hour away. It sucks that Harbor Nail and Salon is so far away, otherwise this would be my go-to nail salon. read more

Hue was very nice like everyone said and I went in thinking I would have an amazing experience. One, the shop needs a deep cleaning. I was the first customer of the day and there were still nail clippings from previous people on the ground. Second, she basically put lotion on my legs and I didn't get the described leg or foot massage. She spent a whole 20 seconds doing that. There was another customer that came in for her appointment but she wasn't done with me so she pretty much rushed me out. Hue is an amazing manicurist! I stumbled upon the spa outside of my old gym. It's a wonderful location, and parking is always easy to find. Her manicures and pedicures are by far the best I've received in California. She has the MOST gel colors that I've seen anywhere. She has over 100 to choose from. Also, the gel manicures that I have gotten from her last substantially longer than the ones I've received elsewhere. She never rushed through the process like they do at many other nail salons. I called Hue Tran at Harbor Nails and asked if she could help me after explaining to her how Bad my toe nails where she told me to come in and we would soak them to soften the nails. Every time I go to get a pedicure I look for the best experience as a customer. Finally I found it with Hue. I called her and told me that she was booked (that's a good sign) until 6 pm and I told her " no thank you " because I really wanted a quick pedicure.
