I have been going to HTC for my piercings for the past 7 years and they are always great. I see a lot of reviews complaining about the long wait time and/or their pricing. They are busy and can be pricey because everything they do is quality. Every piercer is knowledgeable and their jewelry is high quality. I have had the same CZ stud in my forward helix for 7 years and it looks the same as the day it was put in - yes it wasn't cheap but it's been in for 7 years with no signs of needing to be replaced. I got two more lobe piercings and my mid helix done earlier this week and I greatly appreciated how safe they are being with Covid. I was the only person in the shop, I was required to wear a mask, and only the girl at the front desk and the piercer were working - both were wearing masks too. You book your appointment online and they keep the door locked until your appointment and lock it behind you so no one can walk in. They are also sanitizing between appointments and confirm with you that you have no Covid symptoms and that you also have not been around someone with Covid. You also agree to a temperature check at the discretion of your piercer when booking your appointment online. I have mistakenly forgotten my piercers name but she was excellent and I hope to work with her again for more. She was kind and sweet and genuinely interested in how my piercings have healed in the past, did I have trouble with any, etc. Go to HTC if you are looking for quality work, great jewelry, and a kind staff. I came here after researching some other shops, and im sure glad I came here! It was my first facial piercing (eyebrow) and i was obnoxiously worked up. Kevin called me back and gave me step by step instructions on what he was going to do. I was worked up over nothing! He freehand pierced my eyebrow and it was so quick and easy. The two biggest downsides to this place is how far away it is from the two places I've lived(not their fault obviously) and the expensive pricing. Of course, it's still the only place I've gone to for piercings(besides a Walmart that gunned my ears when i was 10.) The loss of one star goes to the pricing of their jewelry and services, especially since you can't look any of it up online before going in. Obviously it's ranged based on what you want, but a base pricing would be so helpful to have access to knowing before going in(and remember they're far from me!) The four stars goes all to Bobby Lane. He is a helpful, caring and funny piercer. He answers all and any questions you could think up, provides caring reassurance if you have any hesitation or worries. He is humorous in a way that also gives the place a way better atmosphere to it! Bobby has pierced my Septum(cost about $70) Vertical Labret(cost about $60-70) and Paired Tongue(cost $115). The first time i went in there, I wanted my tongue done. After taking a look, he told me he didn't feel comfortable piercing it because it was very short in length and explained everything to me, so I got my septum. Quick and easy. When I went back in for the Vertical, he took so much time trying to make sure he had everything set up so that it was straight, and after the piercing was done he noticed he got slightly off(its barely tilted!) and wanted to take it out, drop all charges and have me come back in at a later time so he could redo it for me.(I didn't care and kept it) It made me feel really nice that he was willing to go so beyond to fix this slight mistake instead of letting me leave and notice it later on. Lastly, just last week in went in to see if a paired tongue would be an option. I went in, he took a look and next thing you know I'm laying down ready to get pierced! And he gave me so much time to prepare myself, again for a minute or two in between to collect myself and then made sure I had a ton of water afterwards before I left. I recommend Bobby to everyone, and beyond just me he also pierced my brothers septum, redid my moms ears for her, one of my friends nipples and another's tongue and labret. I'm new to HTC and come from Evolution body piercing based in Albuquerque New Mexico. I've been here once before getting 2 piercings: a daith and Tragus and both were done nicely. Unfortunately I had to take out the daith after 2 months of having it -nothing at all having it due to how it was pierced from HTC- But I was nervous to come back to the shop to have them look at my ear bc I didn't want to be judged. I went back last night with a couple of friends that were interested in getting something done (but they didn't go through with it). I got a nipple piercing by J.D and it was a GREAT experience! Would 100% recommend. He made me feel totally comfortable and safe, and actually made my friend and I laugh during the experience. He had me look at the placement before we pierced it. I then asked him to give my ear a quick once over and he said it actually looks ok and was healing nicely and told me that all of my worries of being judged and lectured isn't what HTC is about, and to come back immediately for anything that was making me feel uncomfortable. Overall the place was clean and well run for the second visit as much as the first, and on a quick note: nipple piercings aren't actually that bad! 10/10 read more

I got my ear and nose pierced by Kevin. Being in the medical profession, I know that there are many microscopic bacteria that can cause infection. Kevin was very sanitary and used aseptic techniques to prevent contamination to and from any foreign objects piercing my skin. He was thorough in explaining how he was going to pierce me (so that I would be prepared) and how to clean and maintain my piercings. Reasonable price for the piercings and my pain level is very minimal as I have been using Kevin's recommended soak and wash techniques every day since the piercing. I love the way it looks on me. I bled a lot with my ear piercing but it was because I realized I tend to lay on that side. I adjusted my sleeping and my ear is doing better now. read more

I have had three different people pierce my ears, and Ricky at HTC is far and away the best. I'm never going anywhere else. It's not cheap--you might need to budget, depending on the kind of jewelry you get--but you could not ask for better, more careful service. I live in Chicago and I waited to get two piercings I wanted until I was back in Tempe so I could come here. I've been pierced three times here and if I ever want another, you better bet I'll be back. Highly recommend, and I'm sure the other piercers are also superb. read more

My experience has generally been really well. Jacob is awesome but not always available. (He's amazing!) Kevin, on the other hand... Do yourself a favor and don't talk politics with him. It's hard for some people to hear that they're white men who have privilege in this society, when they ARE white men (smh). Upon coming into the shop, the experience was professional, quick, & efficient. All of the staff were very personable & my visit was enjoyable. Unfortunately, the outcome of my microdermal piercing was very disappointing. I received my microdermal from J.D. Scott, senior piercer. The piercing was a sternum microdermal & rejected within less than 3 months. I had taken proper care of my piercing & within the 16 piercings I do have, I have never had a problem with rejection or irritation. Upon removal at a different shop, I came to find out that the microdermal had actually been inserted upside down & positioned in a place that is highly prone to rejection. I feel that as a senior piercer, J.D. should have given proper direction for placement for a better outcome during the healing process. I am disappointed with the end results of my dermal & I would not suggest coming to this shop. read more

I came in this afternoon with a friend. She was getting her naval pierced and I was jus there for the moral support. It was pretty busy when we first showed up but Zoey was a HUGE help and was extremely friendly and helpful when it came to choosing a jewelry and answering any questions we had. She was amazing! WAY OVER PRICED!! A friend and I went to get piercings. I got a frontal helix and they told me it was $30 plus what the jewelry was. They wouldn't tell me the price of the jewelry which turned out to be $37 for a tiny ass stud so I paid $67 for one piercing. My friend got her seconds and a helix and they said that would be $50 for the three plus jewelry which shouldn't be much more. She ended up paying $188 for that which is absolute bullshit. I have 12 other piercings and none of them where this much. They charge way to much for jewelry and the customer service was not very good. I tried to talk to the guy who did my piercings and he would barely talk to me at all and seemed extremely cocky and the girl at the front desk was rushing everyone. If only 0 stars was an option, I came in after losing the back to my cartilage piercing and was fine having to get a flat back instead of butterfly. Really disappointed since the store seemed so legit and excellent customer service. 2 days later, no back to be seen because the stud itself was so unbelievably small and my ear literally grew over the back! Very professional, and very helpful answering questions and walk you through the process of putting a needle through your skin without anesthesia. On Sunday, I took my 16 year old daughter for her first lip piercing. I also wanted to repierce my upper/outer ear cartilege as my old piercing had closed up. As an RN, I am very cautious about aseptic technique and was immediately impressed by the cleanliness of the entire shop. HTC in Tempe is well lit and CLEAN. Kat was our piercing artist and she was incredibly knowlegeable and proficient. Even though my daughter and I both have high pain tolerances, we were expecting a moderate amount of pain. In the past our piercings were with the 'gun' and those were painful. Kat was talking my daughter through her procedure as I snapped photos (hey, I am a momma!) I was watching my daughter's face for any evidence that this was too much for her. She did not even grimace or furrow her brow. I was duly impressed! Kat thoroughly cleaned the table/tray area before starting my piercing. As Kat was preparing my ear, my daughter commented that she was light headed and nauseated. Kat calmly told her that this sometimes happens and had her lay down. They gave her some apple juice and a nice ice pack for her neck. In a very short amount of time she was all better. Now, it was my turn... I laid down on the table and Kat prepared me for the piercing. She told me to take a deep breath and blow it out... but, I seriously did NOT feel a thing!! I was incredulous... how on earth could a cartilege piercing not hurt at all? I have already planned out my next 4 piercings and Kat will be my girl!! It has been 2 days now and our piercings are doing very well and very minimal swelling to my daughter's lip. Phenemonal after care teaching ensures that your piercings will be able to heal without infection or pain. I will be in again and again for Kat;s piercings! read more

I wanted to get my nipples pierced, and let's be honest, this is a piercing where you gotta do your research on businesses and can't just waltz into a place. I was recommended here from the woman's website who wrote The Piercing Bible. Kat did my piercings and I never felt more comfortable. Of course I was nervous as hell, but she was awesome at reassuring and consoling me, even talking to and walking me through the procedure as it was happening. She never touched me without gloves, and made sure I fully understood the healing process and consequences of not following through with it. I knew this place would have experienced staff, but I was a little blown away at the professionalism of them. They also send you home with aftercare supplies and a followup date so they can check you and make sure you are healing properly. This place is exactly what every piercing business should look and operate like. The general public has this opinion of body modification places being dirty and unprofessional, and I absolutely hate that; it should never, ever be like that! HTC Body Piercing is getting five stars from me because they are exactly what they're SUPPOSED to be--friendly, knowledgeable, and certified professionals working in a clean, sterilized environment. Walking into one of the side rooms to receive your piercing is just like walking into a clinic or doctor's room. There is sterilized equipment, a comfy procedure table, and doctor's recommendation posters about piercings hanging on the wall. Again, this place is exactly what a piercing business should be like. You are getting a PROCEDURE done! Don't walk into a random tattoo shop and have them do it. Go with certified professionals who know exactly what they are doing. Also, I was really impressed with the amount of mother's sitting with their teenagers in the waiting area. I think that a mother's approval speaks for itself. read more

This shop uses clean and safe methods for piercing. They are very knowledgable and are the best place to go for a piercing, but that being said, you are definitely going to spend a little bit of money. That is how it should be for permanent mods like a piercing, go to the best person in town and don't expect it to be cheap. Cheap= infections and bad work. One thing the HTC staff could work on is their attitudes. Some employees are nicer than others, but don't scare off the customer who was unsure about entering your shop in the first place. Professional body piercing. That is an important phrase people. Body piercers who are first aid certified, cpr trained and could essentially work in a doctors office. Because these people are putting things under your skin, its important that they know what they are doing! The staff at HTC knows what they are doing. It is one of the most comfortable shops to get piercings done I have ever been. They have awesome jewelry and an awesome ability to explain what goes into a piercing and how the body will react to the damage being done. They do not do tattoos, or use piercing guns, or sell t-shirts, bongs, or any of a hundred other things that I have seen in other grimy piercing places. This place rocks! read more
