This spot came highly recommended from friends but mostly my trusted niece. She came here to get her eyebrow piercing and raved about their services. With several locations, we preferred the Tempe location. Super easy to schedule an appointment online and quick forms to complete before your appointment. I opted to get my nose pierced and potentially two more ear piercings. The selection of jewelry varies from affordable to really high end solid gold. The receptionist was so knowledgeable and wonderful at making suggestions for my choices. Love her style and she was spot on in matching my vibe. I loved being able to mix my metals of gold, silver and rose gold. For me, I wanted higher quality and fashionable pieces so my total was over $700 with the piercings and jewelry. They also had MDW sale discount of 20% but that eventually went as my tip to my piercer Josh. He is super cool and very thorough. Made me feel comfortable and laughing. My niece had Aubrilynn and loved her. As for the piercing, it is not painful at all. If you can take waxing or plucking, it's easy peasy! There is a little soreness on my left ear but it went away after treating myself to Taiwanese pancakes and jelly tea. You should purchase the saline solution to keep your piercings clean. Accessories are the exclamation point to your outfit. So if you're up for it, get pierced here with any of their incredible staff. To me, overdressed is a myth invented by those who have never been fabulous.

I recently recieved my first tattoo at Living Canvas last week. My son-in-law, a fireman at Scottdale, without hesitation recommended Mark's shop to me. I figured is the firemen at Scottsdale trusted Mark, who was I to question years of dealing with Living Canvas. My wife died on the 10th of September and I wanted to get Inked to memoralize my love and devotion to the 41 years of marriage and memories we have shared. My wife loved Hummers and she loved a Desert Willow we affectionately caalled our "Marriage Tree" since it was planted to commentrate one of our Annivesaries about 10 years ago. Mark's staff was able to ink a realistic Hummer and reproduce the Desert Willow Blossom on my left arm. The colors that they selected and the graphic expertise was amazing. My work is in Advertising so I am around creative grapic people all the time and I was impressed. I have another design that Mark is working on to place over my left chest, a picture of my wife on Kauai at Sunset, where all you see is the beautiful Sunset and Clouds and my beautiful wife's outline against it. Mark told me would be awesome and I can't wait to see what he designs from the photo. The level of service was top shelf, the atmosphere was very freindly, and the staff was just fun to be around. So I have known Mark Walters for many years and have always admired his work. When ever I was in town either I wasnt able to make an appt. or he was booked, which he usually is. This time me staying here in AZ for a while I was finally able to get a tattoo done by him. He's a perfectionist on how and where it was placed. I told him the night before I was nervous because it was going on a place that hurts a lot (inside the upper arm) he assured me everything would be fine and he was light handed. He was amazing when he tattooed me. I have MANY tattoos, and I have to say that he has THE lightest hand of anyone who has tattooed me. I live in LA most of the time. I "use" be happy with who I went to there. Mark even said my guy did great work. He never bad mouth's anyones work. But now, I will NEVER go anywhere else. Its not only worth the drive, where ever I am, its also worth the wait. He gets booked a lot and slots fill up fast. So call ahead. I wish there were more stars to give, I would give more. I am working on a sleeve, and I dont want anyone but Mark to finish it. He has a great eye and is an amazing artist. I cant wait to see what he comes up with for the other things I want. I am an avid Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioner living in Oklahoma. I decided to get a tattoo inspired by the sport I love, but I didn't want just anyone giving me the tattoo. I wanted it to truly mean something and I wanted insight from a fellow practitioner. I searched the web and luckily found Mark Walters in a picture with Gustavo Dantas (a world renowned black belt) and it just so happened that I was scheduled to make a trip to AZ for a wedding on New Years' Eve. I emailed Mark a couple of weeks before and he told me he was booked solid for a couple months but since I trained Jiu Jitsu that he would make it happen. He ended up coming in on Sunday, his day off, just for me! We searched for designs and he provided tremendous input. I felt his passion for the sport and that he really was vested in the design. We agreed on a design that he drew up for me and while I was getting the tattoo we decided to not add color to it because it looked so "clean" just black and grey. He really wanted it to be right for me and took opinions from every other artist in his shop. It made me feel great that someone was so passionate about getting the artwork right. As far as the shop goes, it is first class all the way. I couldn't imagine it any better, it is clean, organized, and well decorated with some lavish finishes. My Daughters wanted to get tattoos for a while., My 21 year old had been looking at other shops for a few months,. I was holding her off as long as I could,. Cuz I knew that when she got one, my 18 year old would want one too,. Went in to visit with Mark,. the shop was very clean and organized. Talked with Mark and the staff, made the appointment. Came in with my Daughter to see the layout and make sure that it was not too big on her back,. just so she could cover it up if needed for Grandma,. Mark spent a lot of time drawing and then lining the tattoo up on my Daughter back , even having me and my Wife take a close look before starting the tattoo. I was impressed by the caring attitude that Mark has. He really wants customers to come back for life. Then of course my 18 years old wanted a tattoo on her foot of flowers,. Mark did a freehand drawing right on her foot,. it was awesome,. bigger than I wanted, however it's not my foot,. I was referred to Living Canvas by my uncle and sister who both had received tattoos there and were really pleased. I knew going in where I wanted my tattoo and the general idea of my design but nothing more than that. What I came out with was more than I expected. This was my first tattoo experience and it honestly couldn't have gone any better. My artists name was Greg and he was very professional but also very laidback which made it easy to relax and let go any anxieties I had about pain, first experience, etc. Greg took my original idea and shifted it just enough to make it proportional which made all the difference in the world. He also made the kanji symbol of my tattoo look like brushstrokes which I've received countless compliments about. Choosing to get my first tattoo on my ribs I knew it would be painful but it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected and I think a lot of that is due to the artist. The shop as a whole is very clean and well kept. Ever since coming to the shop on a whim go get matching tattoos with my sis, I've really enjoyed the atmosphere! Mike has been my guy every step of the way. I gave him my idea/character designs for my sleeve and BOOM! Homie has been pullin out the best works of art and stickin em on ya girls arm I've been a fan of Ferngully since I was a little girl, and always knew one day I wanted to pay homage to my childhood memory by creating a sleeve with the characters and water color. Michael not only has crazy skills with execution, but our hysterical banter is amazing and it takes my mind of the pain. I never get the feeling of "this is just a business transaction", the guys there and the shop itself has a very comforting chill atmosphere which is great! They take the time to really talk with you to figure out what's going to look good and what's the best way to create works of art on your body, since a tattoo is a pretty permanent fixture once it's there. I don't normally write reviews, but Living Canvas definitely deserves one! After probably years of debating tattoos, I decided to get my first one this past week. I spent hours searching for shops that weren't sketchy but also didn't cost a fortune. When I stumbled upon Living Canvas, I knew right off the bat that it was going to be the best option. Regarding scheduling: On Monday, I walked into the shop before going to work and they were incredibly quick about getting me an appointment for two days later. Despite their policy on the 48 hour rescheduling window, when a medical emergency came up the day of my appointment, they were very understanding and allowed me to change my time. The actual appointment: I was fortunate enough to have Andrew as my artist, despite the fact that he was one of the only artist at Living Canvas that I hadn't researched. He did an amazing job and is honestly such a nice person! Pricing: I wound up paying a total of $120 for my design that took just under an hour to complete, which is an awesome price compared to a lot of other parlors. read more

First Off... Morgan is the fly dude in the front who greets you and suggest the best artist for your desired piece of work. I got Brandon ! Brandon is a professional artist, and he's passionate about his work. Brandon gave me good advice on placement and was really good at detailing my tattoo. I appreciate the love and attention the staff gave me. It made me feel good and confident about choosing this shop. Thanks guys! The only thing is- I think they should open the new packs of needles and tools in front of you to set your mind at ease. He went ahead and prepared everything which was cool. But in NYC I'm used to seeing the new items opened in front of me. I'm not saying they weren't new, i just wish I didn't think that they weren't when I sat in the chair. And I'm use to my tattoo being wrapped in plastic but he used tissue and it was a little confusing and uncomfortable. But I'm not an artist so I trusted his direction with using tissue. From a Dental professional stand point when my son came to me and wanted to get his first tattoo I was a bit taken back and concerned (being a dentist my main concern was to make sure he was getting a tattoo from a clean, sterile, and professional shop) We did our homework and came across Living Canvas Tattoos. We came in for our consultation with Mark Walters. Together he took his time to go over what my son wanted customized it where it needed it. I was VERY Nosey and was pleasantly surprised to see that they actually had a sterile room, his shop was notably clean and well put together. Not what I was expecting from a tattoo parlor. Needless to say my experience with taking my son to get his first tattoo changed this old timers opinion of THIS particular tattoo shop. My sons tattoo came out clean and just as he hoped. My wife and I paid a visit to Living Canvas after reading some excellent reviews. It was five years since my last tattoo and this would be my wife's first. The atmosphere was pretty unique; very asthetic with a modern warmth and hints of psuedo gothic and rock n roll elements. Exceptionally clean! Everyone we spoke with was pleasant to us, which was important because choosing the right place for my wife's first tattoo was a big deal. Andrew inked us both and did a nice job bringing our artistic visions to life. We enjoyed spending our afternoon there and had a lot of fun getting to know Andrew. I was searching for a place to get my first tattoo, contacted this shop as it had a top rating. Jenna the receptionist was very helpful in referring me to the artist, Tristan Towers. We met for a consultation after checking out his work on Instagram. His work is exceptional! I wanted a watercolor tattoo of a hummingbird incorporating a name and dates. I expressed that I wanted a work of art on my art and that is clearly what I got. My only regret, he should have initialed the piece! As it has healed the last six days , the color is exquisite. The shop is clean and beautifully decorated with faux finished walls featuring a rustic environment with incredible art and worldly masks on the walls. Had Mark (the owner) do a Japaneese dragon piece on my shoulder and love the results, killer artwork! He picked the ultimate background and color scheme plus he hand drew the design himself and it savors the authentic Japaneese style I wanted. I could tell he has had a lot of experience and talent with traditional Japaneese tattoo art, as well as other styles I saw him do for clients that were in and out during my visits. He pays attention to every last detail (making sure the scales on the dragon curved just right with the body to make it real as possible). He doesn't waste time and is very fair with pricing. It may be a little more to get a tattoo done here, but if it's going to be on your body for life, then it's worth investing in someone that will do it right the first time. As a Medical practitioner I was very comfortable and impressed with the cleanliness and sanitary procedures used here. HIGHLY recommend it. read more

I went to Living Canvas Tattoo yesterday with my fiancé, we both got half Ying-Yangs on our wrists, our artist, Andrew, was very generous with helping us with placement and size of our tattoos. We saw good reviews on Living Canvas Tattoo and thought we'd give it a shot. The environment was so friendly, we actually ended up talking with another employee, Meg, and had a conversation about cats. Personally when getting a tattoo, I don't like it to be quiet, I like talking with people so I won't focus on the tattoo so much. On top of it all, the work area was VERY clean, which obviously is something you want to look for! This was the best experience that me and my fiancé had at a tattoo shop, I would HIGHLY recommend going to Living Canvas Tattoo, low cost, great art, and a fantastic environment! I just had another great session with Mark and have to add to my experience. Once again it was amazing. Mark added a train of cherry blossoms to two of my old pieces tying them together PERFECTLY. He also was able to touch up an old tattoo that had morphed into a disgusting mess; Im finally proud to show it off again. Mark truly has the eye for creating beautiful art and the talent to bring it to life. I have never met a more talented group of artists then the guys at Living Canvas! I recommend Mark to everyone I know. His prices are beyond fair, he trys his best to fit you in his schedule promptly (with being so talented he is quite popular), his shop is super clean w a great laid back vibe, staff is friendly and in no way intimidating, and I promise if you take an idea to Mark, he'll make it come to life even better than you could imagine! read more

This shop is truly the best in Arizona. The second I walked in, I noticed how beautiful and clean it was. Not only that, they have amazing customer service, you feel welcome right away. It was my first time going there (not my first tattoo, first time there,) and I have nothing but great things to say. Mark did a cherry blossom tree tattoo on my left hand, and needless to say, it is by far is the most amazing tattoo I have. He is so professional, while also making you feel super comfortable at the same time. He listens to what you want, and then has his own creative way of bringing it to life with his personal style. After getting tattooed by him, there is no way I would ever go to someone else again. Amazing shop, amazing artists and amazing staff. Walking into Living Canvas is not like walking into your typical tattoo shop. It's beautifully designed and laid out. I immediately felt comfortable with my surroundings as well as the friendly staff there. I cannot say how clean and neat LCT was either!!! I knew exactly what I wanted and how I wanted my tattoo to look. Mark Walters is the artist that graciously took his time to make it look exactly like I wanted. Also, he listened to what I wanted to do and didn't try to push his ideas on me either. Mark is really a cool guy too and fun to talk to. He is talented and obviously loves what he does and his work reflects that. His work was clean, crisp and precise. I would very highly recommend Mark at Living Canvas Tattoos. I LOVE Living Canvas Tatto and would highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone!! First, the shop is immaculate clean and beautifully decorated creating a very comfortable atmosphere. I mean I would decorate my house like this shop...who says that about a tattoo shop?? But more importantly the owner and all the artists were very friendly and professional. The owner Mark actually did my artwork about a year ago but due to scheduling I ended up w/Greg doing my tattoo and I am in love!!! I was totally impressed w/his work....very precise and quick and you can tell he is totally confident in his artistic ability. Plus on top of all that he is super pleasant, very patient and kind. I've been to a lot of tattoo shops over the years, and as a woman, it can be really intimidating walking into a new shop. After doing a ton of research online, I found Marks portfolio and knew that this is the shop and the artist that I was going to. As soon as you walk in, everyone is super friendly and VERY professional. They make you feel very comfortable the second you walk in the door. The shop is meticulously clean and sterile. They hold cleanliness to the highest standard. Mark is very talented and so are the staff. Mark really listens to what you want (if you know some tattoo artists, you know they aren't all like that) he really makes me feel comfortable before he starts working. Truly inspirational and customer centric pieces created in this shop everyday Mark and the team at Living Canvas were just a joy to interact with. My tattoo had tremendous personal meaning to me and Mark took the time to ensure that it would be everything I wanted Each and everyday I am complimented for the artwork that is on my arm. It truly is art; my tattoo took 5 sessions and close to 20 hours to complete and it was worth every creative second. The artisans at Living Canvas have varied styles and the pieces that I saw created during my time in the shop were nothing but breathtaking. Jay is amazing. He completed an absolutely perfect smaller piece for my friend and I knew he was my artist. This is the largest piece I've ever gotten. He was friendly, and patient and worked hard to ensure it is perfect! I'm getting a memorial piece for my mother, so it's extremely personal and meaningful and HAS to be the best tattoo I've ever had. Just the outline done so far, but Jay's lines are crisp and clean and he spent a considerable amount of time just making sure the placement was perfect! Sadly, Jay has left Living Canvas, but I was very impressed with the way he reached out to assure me he would complete this important piece for me and not leave me scrambling to find another artist. My friend is a very particular about cleanliness. She was very satisfied with the shop, and how they clean their items before piercing. The head piercer, Nico, was skilled and very patient with her she is terrified of needles). Nico was very kind and allowed her to take breaks as she needed. While she only ended up stretching 3 closed piercings and didn't end up getting new piercings as she intended, she for sure plans to go back because of how gentle Nico was. I went as a support to my friend, but ended up getting three new pieces of jewelry for my various ear piercings and Nico installed them for me without any issues. I didn't have an appointment, but as luck would have it, they had an open slot and I took it. My artist was also the owner, Tabitha who did an amazing job! It was great reminiscing about the early alternative bands we saw live from back in the late 80's and early 90's! The shop is amazing and clean, everyone I've met there on staff get 5 stars. I normally do not leave negative reviews, but after this experience I feel obligated to warn others…read moreabout how this business..specifically the owner, Joey Luck... handles customers when concerns are brought up respectfully. I received a tattoo cover up here that required two sessions. My girlfriend came with me.We were quoted approximately $500 for the tattoo, and during the first appointment we tipped $100 because we were verbally told the second session would be free aside from potentially a small shop/service fee. During the second session, we were unexpectedly charged an additional $100. I chose not to argue because the tattoo initially looked good and we trusted the process. However, after healing, a significant amount of the opaque shading faded and the original tattoo became visible again. We reached out calmly and professionally simply to discuss the fading and the misunderstanding surrounding pricing for the second session. Instead of handling the situation professionally as the owner of a business should, Joey immediately became defensive, hostile, and disrespectful. Despite us clearly requesting written communication only, he repeatedly attempted to call us and became increasingly rude when we would not answer. During the conversation, Joey made comments including "You obviously don't speak English," used a homophobic slur ("fag"), mocked us, and repeatedly treated us with disrespect for simply attempting to discuss a customer service concern reasonably and professionally. At no point were we threatening, aggressive, or disrespectful toward him. We simply wanted to discuss the fading of the tattoo and the unexpected additional charge in a calm and respectful way. What disappointed us most was not even the tattoo outcome itself, because touch ups and fading can happen. It was the behavior and complete lack of professionalism shown by the owner when a customer tried to resolve an issue respectfully. If you choose to go here, I strongly recommend getting ALL pricing, touch up expectations, and guarantees in writing beforehand.
