Went to a mattress store, and got a bad vibe on the employee. So we left there and went to Sit & Sleep because I found a bed online (oh no) and wanted to see it in person. According to the ad, it was available at Sit & Sleep. When we walked into the store, it was quite large inside. We were greeted by a man, named Javier, who helped us. I told him about the bed I had seen online... he was quick and honest about that bed... not to be mentioned here, but when he said they get a lot of returns on that bed I said... NO...I did get to sit on that bed, and NO I sunk on the side... We started looking at the beds. We both agreed it was to be a Cal King size bed. When we stay in hotels, we always get rooms with a king bed, not a Cal King bed. I measured our bedroom length & width. Cal King bed is 72wide x 84long. King bed is 76wide by 80long. I knew a Cal King would fit better in our room which is 12ft by 11ft. My husband really did not care that much with bed search, just as long as I am comfortable, that is what matters most. I have sciatica and lower back pain, so we need a firm bed that can hold up to our weight. We tried the first bed out. For me I felt it in my lower back, I could feel my back hurt a bit... too hard. The medium bed next to it was nice, but to me it felt too soft... Kinda like the 3 Bears: momma bed too soft, poppa bed too hard... And so we looked at a couple more beds, then came to bed that we ended up taking home. King Koil Onxy Hybrid. I sat on the side of the bed, as I do every morning and night. I sat on the end of the bed; I did not sink. This is important to me. The bed needs to be firm and be able to sit on the sides without sinking. Hubby laid down, he was happy, almost fell asleep... Javier asked if we thought about adjustable beds. I was curious, so he pulled out the remotes for it and raised the bed up. How comfy can it get! WOW, very nice. I knew in advance that an elevated head actually helps those who snore, like my husband. I was hooked. Javier did his job well. We ended up buying it. We also got the base for the bed. It is not a low-end value of a bed. Plus, a set of sheets and mattress protector. Why not splurge on a great bed. The one thing that caught my eye on the bed: 25-year warranty!!! That is huge. As my husband said "this will be the last bed we buy". I'm sad, but it is true, I am 64 yrs old. We have had the bed for a little over 2 weeks now. I have slept better, my husband does not snore, unless his side is lowered. Every night I have had my side elevated. It is comfortable. We even had both sides at almost a 90 degree angle watching tv in bed. We do need a headboard, as I did lose my pillow one night lol. If you are looking for a great bed, don't mind paying the price, look at this bed.

MATTRESS SAGA Buying…read morea mattress should be easy. Just look around Los Angeles and you will find more mattress shops than you can imagine. Alas...my new mattress plan turned into an unpleasant month-long saga. Happily, this tale has a happy ending. Read on. I did my research and quickly found that Amazon had the exact mattress I wanted: Nectar Hybrid Queen 12" mattress. The price was competitive and they provided "white glove" service gratis. A mattress, Amazon...what could go wrong? In a word, everything. The first delivery went well. Except, as the truck pulled away, I noticed that they had brought the wrong size - a Full instead of a Queen. Since the package had been opened, Amazon couldn't take it back, so I donated it. Ten days later, the Prime truck arrived and before the men were about to carry the box upstairs, I noticed the word KING. Yes. They brought a King instead of a Queen. Bye bye second wrong mattress. Even Customer Rep was shocked. Another ten days, delivery day arrived and I felt confident. Lightning seldom strikes twice, let alone three times, but there it was - an email from Amazon, declaring the mattress had run into delivery issues and they had no idea when I would receive the mattress. Several frustrating calls to Customer Service and Amazon Logistics and I was done. The internet is a big place and yet luck was finally on my side. The first store that showed up on my computer monitor was Sleep Cycle Mattress in Torrance. I wrote a succinct, no-nonsense email: "do you have a Nectar, Hybrid, Queen, 12 mattress and can I have it by tomorrow? Incredibly, the owner immediately responded with "yes and we can have it to your home in Santa Monica tomorrow by 4:30." Seriously?! I met Kevin (Barkiev) Jarliekian, the owner, at 10:30 on Saturday morning. The showroom was impressive but more importantly, Kevin was a most welcoming, no-nonsense gentleman. He quickly led me to my mattress and had me try it out. Minutes later while he was writing up the invoice, we chatted easily and the showroom started filling up with his friendly, professional staff as their day begun. A half hour later, when I was in my car heading back to Santa Monica, my phone rang. It was Joe from Sleep Cycle, letting me know that he was in the delivery truck and would be at my home in 35 minutes. Seriously? I arrived home 5 minutes before the truck showed up and within 15 minutes, Joe and his partner had come and gone, having set up the mattress, removed the packaging and without scraping my newly painted walls and staircase. A half hour later, I received an email from Amazon about the order I had actually cancelled before heading to Sleep Cycle - it was to inform me that the delivery was pending and they were unable to provide a definitive day or time. And the beat goes on. Do yourself a favor. When you or anyone you know is in the market to buy a new mattress, don't bother to research and compare. Head for Sleep Cycle and speak with Kevin. You'll save yourself a lot of conversations from disinterested sellers of mattresses and Kevin's team with reward you with a good night's sleep. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Recently, I had not been sleeping well and suspected my mattress might be the problem. I tried rotating it and got a few nights of temporary relief, but the discomfort quickly returned. My wife felt the same way and told me the mattress no longer felt supportive. Thanks to her habit of saving receipts, we discovered that our "luxurious" Stearns & Foster was actually 15 years old. It had served us well, but we had clearly kept it past the typical 10-year lifespan. After doing some preliminary research, I decided to visit Mattress Firm, a company I have trusted for years from my time in Northern California when they were still Sleep Train. I was pleasantly surprised to find a location close to home, so I headed over. What an amazing experience. The store associates Jackson and George were fantastic. Jackson was our main associate and he was knowledgeable, patient, friendly, and completely focused on helping us find what we truly needed. There were no high pressure sales tactics and no pricing games. George offered helpful advice when asked, and his input made the experience even better. Seriously, could mattress shopping actually be fun? In this case, yes. We ended up choosing a Tempur-Pedic mattress with an adjustable base, something I never expected but am very excited about. I am already looking forward to finally sleeping comfortably again. Thank you to Jackson and George for making the process enjoyable and stress free. And thank you to Mattress Firm for hiring and training such outstanding people. Combined with competitive pricing, it is easy to see why you remain a trusted national brand. 5 stars.

FINALLY A PILLOW THAT ACTUALLY REALLY WORKS!…read more After staining my neck during rigorous exercise last year, I've been changing our my pillows like they were going out of style. I feel like I've tried everything from soft to firm to memory foam etc. Couple of them seemed to help relieve my neck pain but after about a week or so my neck just went back to feeling pain. Mind you, the pain affected practically every part of my life. Work. Play... You name it. A couple weeks ago I walked into the Del Amo mall and into the Casper shop. Christian, the salesman helped me out. He was extremely knowledgeable and I could tell excited about the company. He pretty much knew everything there was to know about each series of products and was able to convince me to try them out. Lo and behold, I found something immediately that seemed to relieve some stress off my neck. I'm not going to lie, there was some sticker shock because these products are not cheap. But very very very glad I decided to make this purchase. I purchased one of their Casper Hybrid pillows and for real, I haven't woken up in pain since. DO NOT PURCHASE PRODUCTS AT HOWARDS IN LAGUNA HILLS! I purchased a Maytag washer, model number MVWC565FW, on January 2, 2018. It was delivered and set-up in my home on January 4, 2018. I ATTEMPTED my FIRST WASH ON January 5. The appliance was not able to adjust to the spin cycle on the first load! I contacted Howards and asked that a replacement be sent and was told that an AUTHORIZED service representative of the manufacture, (Whirlpool) must REPAIR this NEW washer that could not wash my FIRST load. The repair person appeared 5 DAYS LATER and repaired the bent or broken wiring on the NEW washer. The NEW washer worked for TWO loads. The WHIRLPOOL MAYTAG WASHER /HOWARDS THE RETAILER will not go into the rinse cycle! The I called Howards and WHIRPOOL. I was told by HOWARDS that they would not exchange unless WHIRLPOOL determined that it should be replaced. I was told by WHIRLPOOL that this was not correct and that only HOWARDS can determine an exchange is warranted!! I am now waiting on a second repair person to arrive. NEW PURCHASE LESS THAN ONE MONTH OLD!! It is no wonder that retailers such as COSTCO eat retailers like HOWARDS lunch. I kick myself that I didn't make my purchase at COSTCO or even Sears where doing the RIGHT THING is part of their companies mission statement. Do yourself a favor and do not WASTE a minute shopping for any products at HOWARDS APPLIANCES in Laguna Hills or any HOWARDS location. We feel so badly for any customer or employee who was left hanging with no notice this weekend. For anyone who is interested, Howards was purchased April 7, 2025 by S5 Equity (Mark and David Steinhafel) who also own Wiens Winery (Temecula), Hammacher Schlemmer, Heartland America, Steinhafel Furniture (Wisconsin & Ilinois). With all of the experience that these investors have, it seems odd that they would give up on a brand they just acquired. Perhaps the plan was to close the retail chain from the beginning? Since Howards had the nerve to give no warning to its customers who pre-ordered appliances and mattresses and immediately removed its website, customers or employees may find the following contact information useful: contact: Baudelio "Baudy" Bueno at bb@s5equity.com 562-382-7655 phone David Steinhafel at ds@s5equity.com or david.steinhafel@wienscellars.com 310-590-9317 phone Wiens Winery 35055 Via del Ponte Road Temecula 92592 951-694-9892 phone Steinhafels Furniture 262-436-4600 phone customerservice@steinhafels.com Note: It is interesting how when times became tough, they did not simply sell one of their brands so that they could keep jobs through the holiday season and allow their customers to have the appliances they need before Christmas. Spent $1300 on a washer/dryer in Feb 2006. Lived in eastern LA County at the time. The $1300 included $160 for the five-year extended warranty. Moved to the South Bay in Oct 2010. Called the local Howard's in Torrance to have machines installed in the new place. Was told re-installation would not be covered under warranty. Spent $106 on re-installation. Gave Howard's employee my address so the men could come do the work. Washer started making screaming noise today, two days before the warranty is due to expire. Called service line. Was told the repairs would not be covered under warranty because I "moved out of their service area." I live just a few miles from their Torrance store! Person on phone said if I'd notified the company in writing when I moved, they would've refunded me a pro-rated amount (4 months of the 160). Apparently standing in the store, giving them my address to come re-install the washers, and having a receipt from Oct 2010 with my new address on it does not qualify as giving them my new address in their eyes. Now they say they'll fix it for free but want $90 to come get it and bring it back. Needless to say, I won't be returning to Howard's! read more

If I could rate my experience with Howard's 100 stars, I would. Vice President Houman Adlou was working at the store in Torrance at PCH and Crenshaw when I was shopping to replace my washer & dryer. He was super friendly and very helpful in uncovering the challenges I had in finding replacements that would fit my space and preferences. Anita Patel guided me to the Speed Queen brand that worked in size, type and quality. In addition, I was provided several promotional discounts, making this purchase an incredibly good value and the best price available. Delivery and installation with Marvin was very efficient. Houman and Anita were both at the ready to go over all the details and help with questions and decision making throughout the entire process. The machines are just right and hopefully will last for the next 25 years ... but I will be back for any other appliance I might need. I have shared my excellent with all of my friends. Here is my story.Took me a while to decided where to buy my new refrigerator. I checked different vendors beside Howard's and Howard's keep winning. When I tried to finally buy my refrigerator at Howard's, it was in backorder (bummer). Then, I kept looking other vendors but they had "unbelievable" charges, terrible costumer services, and "I do not care" actitud. After a month searching, I checked Howard's again and the refrigerator was back. So, quickly ran to the store and with the help of Mr. Harter (Product Specialist) I got my new refrigerator. They delivered it the date and time established (sending updates the day before and the same day) . The delivery persons were professional, and respectful installing the new one and taking the old one. My experience with the Torrance location was excellent. I will keep them in mind for my next purchase of this type. I definitely recommend them. Thank you. read more

What a pleasant experience I will say from the beginning. We had a new employee in training and he was obviously being trained by someone who knew everything about appliances. All of the staff was so helpful and explained everything well to us. Great deals and everything was in stock, which was a surprise because other places we visited that weren't as friendly and informative had 8-10 week lead times. Thank you all at Howard's for taking such good care of us. read more

We came to Howard's Torrance to look at refrigerators. We were shopping for a refrigerator when we met Saleem, a good example of great customer service, well verse of his appliances and best of all it was easy to talk to him. He had great knowledge of the appliances they have on stock and helped us to select what we needed. He was able to help us get something affordable within our budget. I will come back. Thanks Saleem read more

When to Howard's today to purchase a washer and dryer and I had such a great experience! Anita Patel helped me with everything I needed and was so helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. Anita was recommended to me by my daughter who had a phenomenal buying experience with her back in 2016. I will always contact Anita for all of my buying needs in the future! Thank you Howard's Appliance and Anita Patel! :-) read more

Ended up spending a bit more than I was expecting to on a Frigidaire Professional gas range and a Frigidaire microwave after great service from Michael. Appliances arrived the following day. Delivery guys were efficient and polite. My wife loves them both (the appliances, not the delivery guys), which is what's important! read more

This is now an appliance store, not a furniture store. Their customer service is Sugar Honey Iced Tea, served with a smile. The guy up front that I thought was helpful wasn't. The compressor of the first refrigerator I purchased was blown within a week and then I had to figure out how I was going to haul it back to this location to swap it for a different fridge. They don't offer refunds. It's very difficult to get in contact with anyone over the phone, the number posted online is the number to the furniture store that used to occupy this space. Long story short, my experience was a nightmare in the daytime. I would give them negative 2 stars if it were possible.
