I bought an lg refrigerator from Howards last year reason being that only they have a refrigerator available for which delivery. I received a faulty one and I had to call in lg technition 4 times. RUN from Howard's! I was getting ready to have surgery and decided to purchase a new bed to help with my recovery. The salesman, Rene Chevarria, was very helpful and understanding of my situation. He pointed me to the iComfort bed with adjustable base. He took his time in showing me all the bells and whistles and had me sold. I specifically asked "what if I find the bed uncomfortable or I don't like it?" and his response was that "we can make an exchange to ensure you're comfortable." I bought the bed for a price tag of over $5000. The first night I slept on the bed, I experienced heart palpitations, anxiety, nightmares, overall weakness and trembling. After a mostly sleepless night, I finally lay down on our guest room bed -- I could not sleep on my new bed. It was HORRIBLE. The next morning, I checked out the bed and a tag on the bed frame stated that people with medical devices and certain conditions should not sleep on the bed due to it using magnets to function the massage and motion of the frame. I have a titanium disk in my neck and realized that the magnets made this bed frame impossible for me to use. I went back to Howard's that day and my salesman was now on vacation for a month and the manager I spoke with, Saleem Mahida could not have cared less. He told me he'd check with the manufacturer, but that there was nothing he could do, it was a non-refundable item that could not be exchanged. The next day, I stopped by again to check on what the manufacturer might have said about my medical condition and my inability to sleep on my very expensive bed base. He hadn't even bothered to call! I was told again, rudely, that there is nothing I could do and that I am stuck with the bed base. It is completely unacceptable that the salesman, would not at least ask or warn a customer about medical conditions not being compatible with this bed base before selling it. As far as I'm concerned, I'm a liability to the company who manufactures the bed in not allowing an exchange -- I could die of a heart attack directly from sleeping on that bed!! I submitted a dispute with my credit card company in hopes that Howard's will reach out to me. Still, nothing. They still claim I bought it and magically knew about the base using magnets to function. Additionally, I purchased an extended warranty and 2 $100 pillows (which I have yet to receive a month later). I requested to cancel the extended warranty and return the pillows --again, not a peep and they insist they're owed the full amount. These people are dishonest and will take your money with no regard to your satisfaction. RUN from Howard's and make your purchase elsewhere! read more

Love my Kitchenaid appliances, but the installation was terrible because it wasn't completed as stated when I made the purchase. I am left with a space unfinished below my ovens. Long's Appliance Installer was to come back and finish off the cabinetry, but never did and never returned my calls. Howard's didn't follow up on this problem even though it was their salesperson who told me from the start that it would be complete! I spent nearly $4000 on appliances from Howards and I have had nothing but trouble. It's impossible to get service from them! Do yourself a favor and DON'T purchase anything from these guys. Once you give them your money it's over. They are finished with you! They sold me a service contract and since they don't have their own service department they use Carters or Performance Plus and you go to the bottom of the barrel in terms of service priority. After several calls to their automated warranty service system NO HUMANS just pushing buttons on your phone, I finally was able to get a service call. I tried the on-line request for service and there was no response. The technician that showed-up was late, rude and very short with us. His obvious concern was getting out of our home as soon as possible. This same drill was repeated several times and after numerous incorrect diagnosis the problems still exists to this day. I tried to appeal to Maytag and they actually told me that I shouldn't have purchased the service contract from Howards. Nice huh? My only hope that Howards is a victim of bankruptcy due to Covid. read more

I would give them a zero. Bought an Electrolux refrigerator from the Torrance Howard's store on 7/17/11. I did buy an extended warranty for it. Ice maker broke on 1/2012. Howard's wants you to go through them for repairs. Had the ice maker replaced under warranty. The service technician damaged the outer cabinet and interior scratches, while doing repair. On 8/5/12, the defroster broke. Refrigerator heated up. Lost all food in refrigerator. NO REFRIGERATOR FOR 25 DAYS, while we waited for the repair. through the extended warranty people. Defroster replaced on 8/28/12. Restocked refrigerator with food. On 9/3/12, refrigerator gets hot again. LOST ALL FOOD AGAIN! Have to deal with the extended warranty people again for repair. I am afraid to put food in this refrigerator again. Emailed Howard's on 8/23/12 and demanded new refrigerator. No response. We will be contacting Howard's manager tomorrow. I want my money back and this refrigerator out of my house. I will never buy anything from Howard's again. Nor, will I ever buy an Electrolux appliance again. read more

If I could, I would put 0 stars. They definitely have a great sales team, because they are well-trained to take your money on the spot, or maybe I am naive and that's why they were able to sell to me so quickly. But once you are in as a paying customer, they could really care less about you. I must have talked to 5 different people, all of which gave me the run-around, including the sales person I was working with, Yvonne. I couldn't schedule a delivery and I couldn't get to someone to reschedule, so my delivery was postponed 3 days, and by the time i was ready to reschedule again, they actually SOLD my appliances that I ALREADY paid for. And then they tried to blame it on me saying that it's because I canceled my order. Funny, I had canceled my order maybe 2 hours before i found out they had sold the appliances. Then I was told that my refund would take 48 hours, and it's now been 8 days and still no refund. I had to call THEM to find out what was going on, just to learn that because I didn't get them my account number, the refund was on hold, as if I'm supposed to know that I should be giving them my account number for a second time, and as if this is my responsibility. I am so livid about the service with Howards. What was supposed to be a seamless transaction for my first home turned into a 3-week long nightmare. Over 2 grand hanging in the balance! Not coming here ever again. I got duped into their guarantee of being the lowest price. They actually had a good price, but the TV I wanted wasn't in stock. They had to order it, which was fine. They charged my credit card of course. About 8 days passes and I hear no word on when my TV would arrive. I called them up and the person made some excuse about it being on it's way and that they would call me later that day with an update. No one called so I showed up. I was staring at their screen and it turns out that no one actually placed the order to get the TV in stock. I was pissed so I canceled the order and wanted a refund. They took my card and said the money was returned. After I price matched them and got my TV at Best Buy I waited for a few days for the money to show up on my card. No money. I showed up again and they didn't actually put the refund through. I watched them do it this time and I finally got my money back. Howard's sucks. I don't care what Mike Scioscia says. read more

TOTAL MISLEADING AD!!! Saw in this weeks' ad that Howard's had a 16.5 cu. ft. refrigerator for $399 and a gas range for $379. I called and confirmed they had the fridge in stock. The receptionist was very pleasant, and told me they had next day delivery for orders placed before 6:00 p.m., and delivery was free. Their AD says delivery is FREE. NOT! You pay a $40 delivery free up front, and get it back via rebate. I have had terrible luck with rebates (they always get rejected then, when you call, they say, 'I'll certify that for you now.'). The "$399" refrigerator turned out to be $399 AFTER A $50 Edison rebate. There is absolutely no reference to a rebate in the ad. Zip. Zero. None. There is no asterisk by the $399 referencing fine print somewhere. Nothing. The receptionist was nice, but there wasn't even a salesman available. Both were working on credit applications with people. NEWS FLASH Howards ... I had cash and was going to buy a refrigerator and stove. I wasted my time and gas. We replaced our range, fridge and dishwasher through Howard's in Torrance. My husband and I are both hard to please; we do a lot of research and price comparison and usually know what we want, including the price, by the time we come in. Big Mike was courteous and professional; he took the time to answer all of our questions and respected the research we'd done, versus giving all the standard lines. You've all done business with that guy - the one who when you say "yes, I looked at this product at your competitor" the comeback is "well, I don't want to say anything against our competitor, but you know..." Once we'd settled on Kitchen Aid, we ordered our package - after probably taking an hour of Mike's time all in all (who stayed friendly the whole time!) and off we went, delighted with our choice. Alas - it was not to be. The Kitchen Aid was about 1 inch too high for our cabinets. Back to Big Mike we go, who once again patiently answers all our questions and waffling until we settle on GE Café. I'd read a lot of mixed reviews on this line (which had been my original #1 choice BEFORE the reviews ) so it took me a little time to get over the Kitchen Aid disappointment. We completed our purchase and waited for delivery. Delivery day came, time to submit the rebates...where are the forms...by this point our house is turned upside down with a kitchen remodel and we've had 2 sets of house guests since first being given the forms. Big Mike to the rescue! He dug up new forms (and a new receipt because I'd lost that too) and we sent in our forms. We opened the boxes and unfortunately the range had some dimpling along one side. We called Mike and he offered the standard discount. When I explained my logic for wanting a slightly higher discount he just said "Okay, let me ask" - instead of trying to convince me that it was the best I'd get or not that big a deal or all the other common responses. At the end of it all, Albert, the store manager worked with us to ensure we were happy with the product and the damage discount - as well as keeping his word about how quickly the refund would be processed. I can't speak to other's experiences but I can say my Howard's shopping experience was one of the best large purchases I've made in a long time. Mike and Albert both stood out as truly wanting to ensure we were happy, not just make a sale which would have been pretty easy as they were far and away the best price. We visited Howard's on Crenshaw to check out the appliances. Ron Go assisted us and showed us different styles of refrigerators and stoves. We had done our homework and it was clear that Ron does his too. He was very knowledgeable. We left and came back a few days later after looking at other stores that sold appliances. Before we left the store, we told Ron that we would return when he was working. We liked him that much. When we showed up at the store a few days later, Ron remembered us. We talked more about brands and features and settled on our purchase. When the appliances were delivered, I was met with a serious delivery guy who, in the course of the delivery of the appliances, became angry and a bit rude. Once we got the frig in, we found out that the frig was too deep for the countertops. This wasn't until the next day. THe kitchen is being remodeled, so measurements are on paper only at this point. Somewhere either measurements were wrong, or forgotten. The next day we called Howard's and spoke to Ron. He told us to come in and we found an even better frig than we had previously selected. Although none of this was the fault of our sales person, Ron took on the problem and solved it. I actually asked Ron if there was a vehicle to rate our service at Howard's. THere was no pressure from him to do this. I told him that he is our new appliance sales person going forward and I meant it. read more

I recently purchased an appliance from this store, which was o.k., but the problem was the delivery service. They called and said they would be there in a certain time frame, and did not show. When they did show, they didn't bother getting out of the truck to ring the doorbell before they left. When I called the service after watching the truck go down the street, they said the truck would not even turn around to deliver. Totally ridiculous and all you get from both the delivery service and from Howard's is the usual "I'm sorry M. __" but nothing to fix what went wrong. My advice is go somewhere else even if you have to pay more. Howard's is not worth the frustration. read more

So this is a mixed review. When I bought my appliances the guy was great and helpful. I didn't buy everything that day but he gave me documents for the remaining items I needed to compare space in my house. The price was the best I could find anywhere (actually a pretty big savings). Part of why I went with them was they said I could change my delivery date with no problem up to 24 hours in advance. I went ahead and ordered the other items that I wasn't sure about via the telephone but spoke with somebody new. This is where things went south. He was supposed to change my delivery date. The day before the items were to be delivered I got a call from the 2nd salesman telling me that he made a mistake and forgot to schedule the delivery. Then he said he could deliver them the following day. Problem was I needed the fridge the day we planned on. After much going around in circles it became clear that I was not getting them delivered as requested. Then I get a phone call that evening from the delivery company saying they WERE delivering the following day. So I call Howard's back and i am told no they didn't put the items on the truck. So this has now taken up a couple hours of my time. So then the delivery company calls me back and says no they are not delivering as planned. Well the manager then called me and I have to say he made things right. I did not get the items delivered timely but he did compensate me without me asking for it and by the time we were off the phone he had already processed the refund. I was annoyed by what happened but was pleased with how they handled it in the end. read more

I wanted to give my business to a smaller store instead of one of the big box places. My sales person at Howards was great and knowledgeable as he walked me through my options. Super. Then things started to go wrong. I bought a washer for myself and a TV as a gift. There was a slight overcharge on the washer but they found it and rectified it immediately. Unfortunately, they gave me back the signed credit card receipt. They asked me to return it the next day which I did. An extra trip, extra time. Not really a problem, an annoyance. I wasn't happy though that the salesman told me I could return a $30 hook up kit if it wasn't used (it was a remodel and everything was new so my contractor told me I wouldn't need the hook up) and then the story changed and I couldn't return it. Still, I wasn't upset until they tried to deliver my very basic washer. They were an hour and a half late when they called to tell me there were signs on PV Drive saying no trucks over 2 tons could drive on the road. I have never seen those signs and, if they exist, they do not refer to deliveries but to through traffic. Our trash trucks weigh two tons. Moving vans weight two tons! But the dispatcher insisted they could not drive on the road. I told them to turn around and go PCH. They called back telling me they were seeing the signs again. Finally, they were within half a block of my house and told me the street was too narrow to go further! By that time I was at the end of my wits. I had a dishwasher delivered just that afternoon and that truck had no problem. It took four phone calls about their heavy truck before my husband and I gave up and cancelled the order. These people could not get their act together. My husband asked if they told people they wouldn't deliver to Palos Verdes and the manager said they usually used a different truck. Good grief, tell us before we waste an entire day waiting for you. Went to Lowes the next day, got the same washer delivered and installed (big truck) without a problem. I did extensive online research and decided to buy an old-school Speed Queen agitator-type washing machine because the newer water-saving models seem to have barely 10% positive customer satisfaction rating. I ordered the machine by phone on a Friday. I never visited the store -- it was too far away for me, and I was in a rush. The salesman did have a problem getting their system to accept my home address, and he did need to call me back 3 times, each time with me assuring him it's a legit address we've had for 30+ years. He promised a Sunday delivery; guys were on time, polite, and had an AMAZING method for carrying the new one in and old one out--- they used harnesses and lifted the machine a few inches off the floor, thus preserving my brand new kitchen vinyl floor. Shout-out to Jesus and Tino from delivery truck! Did not buy extended warranty, which seems to be an area of complaint for many negative reviewers. read more

We purchased a refrigerator (LG) a frigidaire oven and microwave as well as a Bosch dishwasher. The refrigerator had problems with the ice maker almost immediately, but covered under warranty. The microwave died at 18 mos not under warranty. It is a faulty design with control panel at bottom of oven in contact with heat from stove top. Manufacturer would not help and Howard's was willing to sell us a new microwave. So very generous. And oh by the way that design is flawed. The condenser went out on the fridge. Authorized repairman states the warranty was voided because of installation location. A sort of cabinet with plenty of ventilation. Nowhere did it state that you couldn't install in cabinet. Second repairman states evaporator and condenser went out because of frown leak. Warranty should be responsible. LG still denies culpability. $1000.00 later..... Oh and the dishwasher has been repaired twice. It's only been 18 months!!!!!!!!!!! read more

After waiting all day they delivered a broken dryer when I wouldn't accept the broken dryer they removed it and left the old dryer just sitting in the driveway. How dare they!! my mother bought a washer from howards and got the 4 year warranty including the manufacturer? ?. She was thinking it was a good deal. It was $229 in all she paid 800+!!!! 2 years later it takes a dump! she called Howards coustomer service and they told her "call this place so they can fix your washe"(did she not pay for you to get that set up???) she calls.....they said "no they dont service her area this lady was from Texas (gloria) and said ok call this place, they also said "no we don't service that area" she then calls back (Gloria answer's) and this lady said "well I don't know Wher you live but Noone wants to go to your area it must be a bad neighborhood!!!" if it was a bad neighborhood Howards should have told my mother this instead of telling her she would have no problem so she can buy her washer at a place Wher they would service anywhere ,without judging people . They then told her to call one more place so my mother did. A nice man came and with a smile on his face ( without any fear of the area he was in because we actually live in a neighborhood Wher we all know eachother) serviced the washer. Then after some time came to the door and told me " your washer needs a new transmission and a new computer" he said he will place the order for it. The place that came to fix the washer then said they will not fix it and they will give her 500 in store credit for a new washer. So she goes and gets a washer. but they gave her a washer. Yes that's good but THEY didn't give her a prorate on her warranty!!! SHE STILL HAD 2 YEARS!!!! and told her she will not have a insurance on the new one. Hello she still had 2 more years they told her to buy new warranty!!! This place is a scam she now paid for 2 insurances, but only got half of the first one. she now got a 2 year warranty!! My mother had nothing but good things to say about Howards she has bought other things from you guys in cash. now she has nothing but complaints. I just had a disappointing experience with Howards TV & Appliance. My husband purchased a clothes dryer. My husband clearly told the salesperson that the dryer would be installed under the counter. The dryer came with free delivery, installation and removal of the old dryer. The installers arrived and told us that they could not install the dryer as they don't do custom installations and that an under the counter installation is considered a custom installation. Also, the installers left our old dryer behind. When we called to let them know we were asked, "Did you tell them that they needed to remove the old dryer?" As it was noted on their delivery instructions that it was a delivery and a pick up and they walked by the old dryer, we didn't think we needed to remind them. Today I spoke with a representative of Howards named Albert. Albert said that they will not do installations if they don't think there is enough room even though a dryer had been installed in the same space. I think the salesperson should tell the customer about any installations that their installers won't perform. read more
