For the past two years, we've had nasty flash floods that have left us collectively about $30,000…read morein debt, even with flood insurance. The house is built on a hill, and when a heavy rain hits us after a dry spell, bad things happen. When the last payout finally came in, we'd planned to earmark a big chunk for fixing the drainage once and for all. Enter Keep Austin Landscaped. Even though our house is small and they usually don't do such small jobs, they came up with a great plan to reroute the water from uphill and guide it around our house to prevent flooding. Initially they suggested an inexpensive galvanized wire and rock wall to keep the water from flowing into our house, but later decided that a better, solid concrete retaining wall would do the job better - - for just the same price. And then, of course, COVID happened. Nevertheless, the KAL team was still ready to work with us as long as we gave the workers their distance, which of course was only fair. I really appreciated them coming out and risking getting sick to do that work, especially when we were really scared that any time now we might flood again. Our uphill neighbors initially agreed to allow us to install a French drain on their property to allow water to drain into the alley behind our houses instead of into our house, but then reneged for reasons we still don't understand. We offered to adjust planning to take any specific concerns into account or seek mediation, but they insisted that we not do anything on their side of the hill. Of course it's difficult to route water away from a house down hill if you can't do anything before the water gets there! The nice folks at KAL tried several times to speak to my neighbors in both English and Spanish on our behalf, and in the end our neighbors allowed them to complete the plan by extending gravel drainage along the shared fence. We've just had the first heavy rain after a dry spell since they've been out here, and not a hint of flooding. Working with them has been an absolute joy, and we heartily recommend them for anyone with a landscaping or drainage issue.

After that, communication became extremely frustrating. Throughout March, April, and May, we were repeatedly told that crews would be coming out to complete the work, only for appointments to be missed with little or no notice. We rearranged schedules multiple times based on their commitments, but they continually failed to show up. After more than three months of delays, they finally returned on June 2nd, only to tell us they were too busy to take on the project after all. If the company did not have the capacity to perform the work, we would have appreciated an honest answer months ago. Instead, we spent over three months waiting, following up, and planning around appointments that never happened. Very disappointing experience and a significant waste of time.

They confirmed that the pipes, valves & wiring was bad...underneath my deck! They performed an extensive rerouting & re-laying of all pvc, wiring and junction points. This included digging new 3- foot deep trenches around the entirety of my 1,000 foot deck. While I had not anticipated the cost of this job being done today, problems that I bypassed & ignored for 10 years are completely resolved. GM Justin Wilson had assured me that he wanted me completely satisfied with their work- and after today, I can rest easy-and totally satisfied- with a fully functional, non-leaking and high performing sprinkler unit. Thanks Justin, Sean, Juan and everyone @ American Irrigation for being patient and professional with me during this process. I highly recommend American Irrigation for all your irrigation needs. They will do you right...with no leaks!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In regard to my previous one-star review, General Manager Justin called me personally and arranged to come out today (8/15) to see what needed to be done to correct the situation. Justin, J J, Shawn and another tech came out and spent over TWO HOURS going through every zone & sprinkler head I have. I was advised of the dreaded valves below my deck; and Justin gave me several options that would make everything work right. They spent a lot of time making sure that I was fully informed on every aspect of pending repairs. Justin even reviewed photos I took during my deck rebuild three years ago, to determine if valves could even be accessed. They even capped off the the zones that were designated for future repair.

They showed up on time, and were able to diagnose the problem of one low pressure zone pretty quickly (tree roots compressing the valve). I also had them retro fit some of the other zones with rotors vs the misters. I feel that should provide the coverage more effectively. I was a little surprised at the cost, which was almost 3x of a similar root repair about 5 years ago, but I guess that's a sign of the times. I declined the extended warranty, because some of the extra heads they replaced were over 30 years old, and I expect these new ones to outlive me!

First…read moreoff they hardly return messages but finally a lady called me back and said she was going to schedule an appointment. It took over a month and three more phone calls to finally make it happen. The reason for my call was a concern for a few sprinkler heads that looked damaged and did not perform well. I received an invoice with a completely different pricing from what that lady explained prior to the visit. Worst part however was not an invoice but the fact that I still saw the same heads misbehaving the way they did before the visit, and on top of it my controller was all messed up. So I called and asked what does "replace 1 valve" means if the system did not work any different and what am I to do with my controller. The answer I received is something out of the Guinness book of record. "You controller was probably shortened by a lightning, and if you question your bill you are not a good fit for us, I will take $45 , pay it and please call someone else". Taken a back I kept my calm and asked about that lightning "What lightning? I cam home about 45 min after your tech left and there was no rain?" The response was about the same "It happens and lightning hit controllers (mine is inside the garage), but you must give my money". At this point feeling like a complete idiot I politely told the lady that I do not need $45 off, I am perfectly capable of paying my bills but I would like to know what am I paying for and what am I to do with my controller, so may I speak to a technician who did the job. Rather abrupt 'no" was all I got followed by another request to pay. I finally felt like someone who is taken for a ride, so I said that I will not be paying until I speak to a tech. "OK" and beep-beep-beep. Damn, I can understand that during summer peak sprinkler companies can get a bit difficult but this was a completely another level. So - stay away guys.
