My latest frames from Hour Eyes. These are progressive lenses.
Stephen A.

I always get my eye exams and new glasses here. And I recently brought my partner along as well. They have a great selection of designers and styles from very affordable to more high-end. Their optician is very informative and they always seem to have the latest and greatest examination tech. I am always happy with my new prescriptions since my eyes continue to change as I get older. Rebecca is a gem and a great second (or third) opinion on looking at different frames. She has talked me out of a couple of bad choices in the past. They are a VSP provider which is my vision insurance company.

My new eyeglasses!

Today, I received my new glasses in the mail. Two weeks ago, while on vacation in Seattle (the 2nd best city on Earth, besides Paris), I passed by the shop, and saw some snazzy looking frames in the window. So, I went inside. The person with whom I spoke, Rebecca, listened to why I wanted new glasses, which (although I had a new prescription) was to "stand out" in a video call without looking like a clown. And, she immediately showed me excellent looking frames, which I loved and that fit as if they were bespoke made for me. Then, she showed me some more, and then some more. (Note to salespeople: when the customer is happy, make the sale.) I was convinced that I had a winner. However, I went home and did some internet shopping and stopped by Warby Parker, which is a few blocks away. My efforts were a waste of time. The frames that Rebecca initially showed me were (without a doubt!) the best frames for me and I could buy them from her for the best price, So, I went back to the store, and spent what I thought was an excessively long time discussing lenses. (No one had ever asked my opinion about lenses at VisionWorks or BJ's, where I had previously bought eyeglasses.) Then, Rebecca cut me a deal, b/c my insurance only covers glasses 1x/2 years, and I was on my way. I couldn't be more pleased with the result. That time choosing lenses was worth every nano-second. Compared to my previous eyeglasses, I can see like I have new eyes. When I first put them on, I was like one of those kids in a YouTube video who puts on eyeglasses for the first time. Wowza! I had no idea what I was missing! Eyeglasses: LA Eyeworks (Buckeye) frames, with Varilux lenses, Crizal anti-glare, and extra dark brown Transitions. Person who is awesome: Rebecca

For years I have been a patient of the Virginia Mason optometry department and the service was…read moregood--although I was somewhat annoyed that every few years when I went for an appointment my prior optometrist had left so I had to see someone new. But what kept me coming back was the eye glass shop, which always had the same people, who always provided me good service. When VM closed the eye shop I was so disappointed. In fact, I was in denial, I had to go see for myself. Sure enough, it was closed. But a hospital nurse helpfully gave me a list of recommendations for other eye glass shops in the area. I visited the nearest one but had an immediate negative impression. The second place I visited was Spex Seattle in what I later learned is their new location in the Medical Dental Building. When I entered the shop I was immediately impressed with the aesthetics of the office and the two staff on duty. They were both friendly, without feeling superficial, helpful without feeling pushy, polished, and professional. I explained the backstory above and that I was carrying with me two pairs of glasses that had each lost a nose mount. One of them immediately took them and said she would be happy to fix them while I wait if I wasn't in a hurry. While she was busy, the other staff member was pleasant and, of course, said she'd be happy to help me look at designs for a new pair. I just wasn't in the mood to shop, though, and she thankfully let it drop and we just enjoyed some nice conversation until I decided I should probably let her get back to work and I went and sat down. A few minutes later the other staff member returned and had fixed both pairs of glasses. She didn't just replace the two missing nose mounts, but replaced all four, "so they would match". And the charge? $0.00 When I get back from my summer travels I will definitely be back. In looking at their website it looks like they are optometrists too, so now I'm thinking of checking to see if they are accepting new patients.

I haven't felt so heard and acknowledged by a health professional in years. She's definitely my new OD for hopefully a very long time. Now if you have dry eye issues like me, Dr. Lee will refer you on to Dr. Thornbey. Don't hesitate. This medical visit is highly worth it. He'll take a closer look at your dry eye issues, give you some concrete recommendations, and tell you about these cool new procedures (BlephEx and iLux) that will change your life. I bit the bullet (they are expensive and insurance doesn't cover them) and I honestly feel like I have new eyes. 100% with it. I can't tell you how much my overall eye health has improved since finding this optical. I recommend them to everyone!

Everything was done very quickly. What came next was the not so great experience I had with this business. I waited over 2 weeks to call and check in on the status of my glasses. The receptionist I spoke to was short with me and let me know if I wanted a clear status update, I would have to reach out to their optician otherwise I should wait to hear back. They didn't offer to help transfer the line to the optician or let me know when the optician was available. Another two weeks flew by with zero communication and once again, I reached out to the business and again, the receptionist was short with me. I was able to get in contact with the optician and the explanation for why my glasses weren't ready was that my frames must have gotten lost somewhere... they offered me new frames and lenses free of charge to compensate for the long wait and losing my frames. I thought the gesture was nice, but it doesn't excuse that they lost my frames that I purchased elsewhere.

I have had glasses since childhood and have decades of experiences with various different eye…read moredoctors but have never had one as thorough and attentive as Dr. Lawson. I first came here in 2019 having issues with burning from dryness. She explained to me what was happening in a way I could understand it and made a plan to switch me to daily contacts instead of the 2 week I had been wearing. It's been two years and my eyes have never felt better. This last visit she gave me a couple different brand options to chose from and let me go home to do my own research on pricing and availability (I order contacts both from Eyes on You and from a third party website) before she wrote my script so I can make informed decisions. I am also considering lasik and since she had worked in a lasik office, she had a lot of information on what to realistically expect, thoughtfully answered all of my questions, and eased a lot of my concerns. I have referred my colleague to her who also had a great experience. I can't recommend her enough!

Best eye exam experience in th 10 years I've worn glasses!…read more I got an appointment promptly, booked online easily. Shop was aestheticly pleasing and the receptionist kind. Friendly tech took me back. Then I met with Dr. Lawson. She was kind & thorough. She explained everything so well and patiently answered any questions I had no matter how silly or small. I never felt rushed. Time to get glasses. Dr Lawson walked me out asked about my style and when I said I wanted to stay within my insurance allowance for frames she said no problem. She grabbed a bunch of frames and gave them to Jessica who picked out more frames. Both Jessica and Dr Lawson looked at the frames I was trying on giving me honest feedback. They were clear about what looked good what didn't and why. I trusted their opinion when they both agreed on a pair. 2 weeks later I picked up my glasses I loved them. They adjusted them gave a case mirco fiber clothes and a cleaning spray. Later when I noticed they pinched a bit, I walked unannounced they helped right away! I've told all my friends to go here for their next exam! I love them!
