We've been coming here for years and we love the staff and service here. My husband and I have been coming here for years and have always been very happy with the care we receive. Today my husband had an eye emergency and as no opthamologists were available at short notice, the hospital suggested we call our optometrist. I chatted to Lexi, who was able to squeeze him in within a few hours of my call. Dr Roh gave him excellent care and was able to diagnose and treat his problem. Inaccurate and deceptive information was initially given. I was told contacts fitting was $75-90 over the phone. But after the appointment I was told I owed $130. Barbra told me $90 while Serena told me $75 over the phone. Then Serena tried to say that she didn't know I would need a new contacts brand. This information should just be available online if they are unable to relay the information correctly. Dr. Roh was good but the experience with the receptionists were horrible. I was told they would send me forms beforehand to fill out but they got the email address wrong and didn't send it out until 4pm the day before the appointment. When I arrived at the building, I wasn't sure where the office was and called multiple times in the span of 10 mins and no one picked up. Only when I emailed them, did they pick up the call. I don't recommend this place. I've been waiting for my daughter's eye glasses prescription for over 4 months now. They never call to give me an update I literally have to check every week and they always give me the same response "we don't have control over the orders or when they arrive" I will never bring my daughter back !!!! Optometrist was great; the rest of the staff, not so much. Spent over $700 on two pairs of glasses and was told by my husband to ask for the "PD" (which I guess means distance between your pupils). The person says, No, we can't do that. I ask why not? Because then you'd buy your glasses somewhere else, she says, smugly. I've done some research since then and, sure, I get now why she flat-out refused. But did she have to be so unpleasant? After I spent over $700 on lenses? I am writing this review anonymously and request NO contact from Wallingford Eye Care or their office whatsoever, including a response (both public and private) to this honest review of mine. BEWARE. Wallingford Eye Care is ridiculous, unprofessional and the WORST eye clinic in all of Seattle. Don't do this to yourself, and do NOT go here for any of your healthcare needs. The receptionist is extremely unprofessional, useless and unhelpful. Not to mention, Dr. Roh is unfriendly, not caring, and abrasive. I never felt comfortable talking to her or asking her questions. Additionally, Wallingford Eye Care does not accept VSP which is, again, ridiculous. Also, a WARNING: the positive review/photo by Christine M. is inappropriately and unethically posted here because she is a staff member at Wallingford Eye Care. Seriously, what a joke. I needed an eye exam urgently to renew my driver's license. My mistake was not accepting the horrible, yet accurate, reviews here and rushing into finding an optometrist that would see me right away. It goes to show that Wallingford Eye Care is not booked up because their unprofessional conduct is reflected in their low clientele. Wallingford Eye Care was constantly sending me phone call and email reminders for appointments which was just straight up annoying. I'm not a 12 year old child who can't manage their time without their parents' help . I'm a grown adult and college graduate with enough common sense to manage my time/appointments with a calendar that I use on the daily. I finally had to tell them to stop sending me reminder phone calls and emails because it felt like near-harassment. I got a weird vibe from the receptionist from the beginning. She enjoyed speaking in a condescending manner towards me and was very full of herself. I was unable to put my contacts in for my contact follow up, and the receptionist gave me weird looks and questioned me if I actually have contacts. Um, yes I do (my appointment was for a contact follow up which indicates I had been in before), and I couldn't put them in that day as I had simply told. She was also disrespectful on the phone as she argued with me and tried to impersonate a doctor by telling me things like my cornea would be damaged in hypothetical situations. During my contact appointment, Dr. Roh grew impatient with me when I struggled learning to put in contacts (as most people do). Dr. Roh was constantly berating me for the length of my (extremely SHORT) nails. I prefer my nails cut short, as they were during my contact fitting appointment, and I have natural nails (no fake nails). During my contact fitting appointment (see attached photo), they were (and still are) beautifully manicured and trimmed as short as possible. If I cut them any shorter, my nails would be bleeding. I truly believe Dr. Roh was jealous of how awesome my nails are, and repeatedly told me they were too long (?!). I couldn't believe it. After all this ridiculousness Wallingford Eye Care brought into my life, I have since stopped supporting their unprofessional clinic and moved on to receive better, quality healthcare elsewhere. I have found a wonderful eye clinic in Bothell that is absolutely fantastic, professional, caring, and perfect unlike Wallingford Eye Care. :) read more

Been going to Dr. Roh for several years now. She is very knowledgeable and professional. I think she is very pleasant and feel I'm getting the best eye care. I had some issues with my contacts that she helped me solve. I'm writing a new review because the staff is so helpful! The contacts rebate pamphlet I got had an expired code, and the office staff talked to the rep and the company to get it all figured out for me. I never leave bad reviews, but I would like to warn others, as I wish I had heeded the other warnings here. 9/10 chance when you talk with the front desk they will need to check with the doctor and then never call you back. You will need to call them multiple times to get any appointment finalized. John at the front desk is the only person I have talked with who actually follows up on what he says he will do when you try to make an appointment or schedule contacts/glasses pickup. After all this, I ended up with a prescription for glasses and contacts that are unusable; my eyes cannot focus and the prescription is clearly wrong. I went back once for a new contact prescription and it is still incorrect. I have worn contacts and glasses for 30 years since childhood, so this is not a new process for me. I called back again, and after finally getting an answer about a follow up visit to re-evaluate my prescription, and the only option was to come back in 2 weeks for a noon appointment (no other times possible on any day), so since I work, that is not an option. I have purchased contacts and glasses with this new faulty prescription (unusable) and used up my eye exam benefit for the year, but the experience here is so terrible and I have so little faith in their ability to fix it that I am going to pay out of pocket to transfer my care elsewhere and start over again with a new eye exam. I live across the street, so it is very convenient and I hate driving; but there is no point in ever going back. The only bright side: John at the front desk is helpful and competent, Dr. Roh is very friendly, they have some parking spots available in the back of the shop. After filtering through tons of clinics covered by my insurance provider and sifting through one too many disgruntled reviews, I was frazzled and ended up just visiting the closest clinic to where I live. Long story short: I had a great experience at Wallingford eye care despite passing over it during my initial search. I called for an appointment and the guy who picked up (John, I believe?) was patient and understanding. It was the first time I needed an eye exam and was very confused by the process and what I needed. He scheduled me for a morning visit and even had a reminder a few days before. On the day itself, I waited a little for Dr Susie roh, a wait I expected like all clinics. Dr Roh was very thorough in explaining the process and recommending solutions. I was comfortable throughout the process as she was proficient at her job. After the checkup, I decided to buy a pair of glasses. The optician was not pushy and gave me space to decide what I wanted. She even came up with many options to help me out. When I was finally done, most of the paperwork and insurance coverage was already completed. I paid the balance and was on my way. They charged over 750.00 for a pair of child's single vision glasses. They got away with this because of no child left behind insurance rules, they just told me no charge because of no child left behind. My four-year-old daughter wears bifocals, and after a prescription update, and a move, we found ourselves looking for a new glasses store. My daughter has worn glasses since she was one, so we have quite a bit of experience with various opticians, and I am SO glad we found Wallingford Eye Care - it has blown me away with its customer service and attention to detail. We originally went to Wallingford Eye Care because we were unsatisfied with the quality of the glasses we'd gotten from another Seattle optician - the height of the bifocal wasn't ideal and my daughter kept pushing the frames up. Barb at WEC was insanely patient with my daughter, who was... not on her best behavior, and measured her eyes thoroughly to find the best fitting frames and lens configuration for her. WEC submitted the prescription for insurance reimbursement, and the remaining cost was very affordable compared to what we'd paid previously. About two weeks later, I received a $90 check in the mail from WEC - apparently our insurance reimbursed more than they had originally indicated they would, and WEC promptly refunded us our out of pocket cost. We have been back twice, for various reasons, and each time I've had great experiences. The entire glasses process can be difficult with kids and WEC has been wonderful to work with. You can say it was fate that I came across Eyes Rite Eyecare. I had previously contacted 2 other doctors to try to set an appointment and neither of the places called me back. I was hesitant in calling Eyes Rite due to the yelp review it received (and let me just say it did not do justice for Eyes Rite Eyecare). The day of the exam I was alittle hesitant due to the yelp review but that quickly disappeared when I arrived and was greeted by the staff member and doctor. I am truly a huge fan of Eyes Rite Eyecare. They provided me excellent customer service and I also received a throrough eye exam with helpful information from Dr Roh. You can tell she was truly passionate in what she did. She took the time out in educating me and I didnt feel like a number when I went to Eyes Rite I felt like a customer who received what I came for. The exam for (glasses and contacts) was not expensive it was pretty reasonable compared to the other eye places. If you are looking for a place with awesome customer service and a doctor who is passionate in what they do this is the place to go. Terrible experience! After giving this eye care a chance as a first time patient, I am glad to have only gone there once. My appointment was 30 minutes late with no communication that there would be a delay. After wasting nearly an hour, I was then told there was miscommunication about my appointment visit. I encountered a very rude doctor and not honest on intent. Equipment is very dated and small selection of eyewear. Not sure if it's the location- being so close to U Village- but they seem to think everyone is a student and has their afternoons free to sit in a eye doctors office. Dr. Roh is fantastic! I will never go anywhere else for my optometry needs as long as I am in the area. The staff is extremely pleasant and easy to work with. They are so friendly and kind. They replaced the nose pad on my spare glasses without me even asking for it. Dr. Roh is very thorough with her examinations and explains everything along the way. She also takes time to sterilize the equipment before each use and always washes her hands. Little things I never thought I'd notice. Got my eyes examined here last week. The optometrist was very nice and professional. I ordered a pair of glasses online with my new prescription and noticed that it was somewhat blurry even after a couple of days. I called Wallingford Eye Care today and explained my situation but the receptionist (some middle-aged woman) was EXTREMELY rude. She continually criticized my decision to purchase glasses online, and was not helpful at all. I was so off-put that I told her that I'd be going somewhere else. The reason for my low rating was my exam. It was over 5 years since my last exam. I should have had my eyes dilated to check my retina. This was not done and I don't think it meets the standard of care. Due to my vision, I am at higher risk for retinal problems anyway. Dana was real friendly, but the exam was rushed. The prices are probably average. The glasses seem to be good quality. My prescription and the glasses I received were good. The staff was helpful with selecting frames. One of the girls (the tall one) was clueless about how to adjust the glasses. Make sure you have the knowledgeable woman there when you do that. If you make it known that you are ready to leave and want your prescription, all of a sudden glasses that you were looking at go on sale. read more

Had a very bad experience here recently with my 14 month old daughter. Tldr: They dialated my daughters eyes when they should not have and gave unsafe advice My husband had a bad experience with them a year or so ago, but I've been going to them for a few years and always had good experiences so I decided to give them a shot for her exam. We came in for a general check up to make use of the benefit on her insurance, rather than to address any specific issue. The exam itself went pretty well. Dr Roh was kind with her and did a good job of keeping her engaged while she checked her out. The problem came at the end of the exam when she told me she wanted to dialate her eyes. I told her I wasn't super comfortable with this because she had to go to daycare after and definitely wouldn't keep sunglasses on for more than a few seconds before pulling them off. She told me they had infant ones with the straps she could give me, and that it was really important to do the dialation to make sure everything was looking ok with her eyes. I ended up agreeing, and afterwards she handed me a pair of the adult temporary sunglasses that you normally stick behind your own glasses, which of course fell right off my daughter's face. I asked her what about the infant ones, and she told me they could get them for me out front. Turns out these were actually for sale for $30, not something they just give out. I told them that I wouldn't have agreed to the dilation if I had known this and they were nice enough to give them to me for free. However they ended up being too big for my daughters head and she could easily pull them off. The woman working the front desk told me I would just have to hold them on her. When I told her I would be driving and unable to do this she told me that I should turn her rear facing carseat to face forward so that there would be less sun in her eyes. I told her this was unsafe and I think maybe even illegal for a child this age and she continued to insist that I was putting my daughter's eyes at risk by having her rear facing. I'm sure most parents would know not to listen to this, but it really shook me that someone in a medical office was giving out this kind of advice. Two days later my daughters eyes were still dialated. This happened to coincide with her well child visit so I asked my pediatrician about it. He took a look and fortunately her eyes were fine and seemed to be only partially dialated, but he told me that there is no reason to ever dialate a child this young's eyes unless a specific problem is suspected, and that it was likely that they either used adult drops or too many of the children's ones and that's why it was taking so long for them to get back to normal. Luckily today they are finally back to normal, but I would never, ever take her back here and would strongly recommend against it for anyone considering it for their young child. read more

I went to Eyes Rite two years ago thinking I had an appointment for contact lenses AND eyeglasses, since I use both. Though Dr. Dana was nice, he said that I had to make a separate appointment for contacts when I had specifically scheduled an appointment to cover both. When I expressed my confusion, he didn't explain their scheduling procedures to me or offer to make a new appointment. Perhaps this was just my mistake, so I thought I'd simply attempt to make a new appointment later. Well, I never want to go back here. The receptionists were rude and pushy as I tried on glasses. Without listening to the styles I said I liked, they brought me many pairs to try on that were not close to my style and were out of my price range (which I had made clear to them). After politely saying "no" to their choices, they several times made jokes about my taste in frames and called me picky. Who wouldn't be picky about something they wear on their face EVERYDAY and that costs a couple hundred dollars or more? I should have just left, but I managed to find a pair that I liked that was covered by my insurance. Their overall selection is too small and not varied. Most of the frames that were outside of my insurance plan were quite expensive; it would be better to go to a designer frame store than to choose from the sparse selection here. I didn't get any glasses out of 3 tries that ever worked properly. I had progressive lenses which I wore for 20 years and never had a problem with (from Group Health). But at this place the prescription was off and they offered another exam, again, I had no ability to read with them. I bought office lenses vision which they said would do the trick, but could never read with them. I got single vision distance and they were not right. They blamed my eyes, which the opthomologist said a good optometrist could refract and give me a correct prescription. So I would avoid this place if you don't want to go back over and over. Yes, and a lense scratched within the warranty and they replaced them but then the frame broke after I got them back, which they said they would superglue and that was all they could do. I just don't trust these people. read more

I've literally followed this place everywhere. I'm 30 now and have been going here since grade school. I've seen at least 3 different offices, multiple doctors and receptionists and I absolutely love this place every time! I have a very strong correction and b/c of that have avoided glasses for many many years. Circumstances have changed and I know glasses will be a staple soon so I went in to get an updated eye exam and order some glasses and contacts. The doctor was really nice and knowledgeable and took TIME to talk to me about everything. Did a very thorough exam, and referred me to Regina for a fitting. REGINA IS AWESOME! She spent endless hours with me (I went in 3 times before actually deciding) fitting different pairs, price ranges, colors and shapes and never getting frustrated or seemed annoyed at my indecisiveness. We chatted and discussed the pros and cons of each frame, how they looked, how my particular lens would fit into them and so on. I ended up deciding on a great pair, and will continue to go here for as long as I'm in Washington! If you want good care, knowledgeable honest staff, this place is definitely the place to go! Oh and PS. I had a friend come in with me on the final decision day and was so impressed she said if she didn't have the same doctor since she was a kid she would come here! This is the worst eye clinic that I have ever been to! I was scammed by this clinic. I decided that I wanted to get new eye glasses through Eyes Rite Eyecare. I talked with the receptionist, Debbie, and she helped me pick out this wonderful pair of glasses! A little too expensive for me personally, but she said that she would call my insurance and see how much of my plan would allow me to spend on eye glasses and also take into account what I had left for the year for my insurance allowance. I was right in the office while she was on the phone will the company. She said that I had approximately $320 left in my allowance and that I could put all of that towards eye glasses. I even double checked with her to make sure that was accurate, and she assured me it was. So I only had to pay $20 out of pocket for my glasses that were going to cost me $340 with all of the bells and whistles. The $20 out of pocket was not too bad, right? Well, 6 months later i received a "Final Notice" bill from them saying that I still had not paid $60 towards my glasses. I of course called them right away confused why I received this bill in the first place, and also confused why I received it 6 months after I had my glasses? I was greeted on the other end of the line by some assistant, whom I had not met before, and Debbie, who proceeded to defensively double-team gang up on me about my questions about the bill. Knowing I wasn't going to get anywhere with the culprits of the action, and wanting to report how I had been treated, I called to the Tacoma location, where the doctor Dana was practicing that day, and ask to speak with him. I called twice, with no returned phone call. So, I end up paying the $60 bill, cutting my losses, and then 3 months later I receive yet another "Final Notice" bill in the mail saying I owe $60. ______________________________________________________ I moved back to Spokane recently and went back to my old eye doctor who saw me before I had my horrible experience with Eyes Rite Eyecare. I went in and they asked me the routine questions about how liked my contacts, and how everything was going, etc. I let them know that I thought I had chronic dry-eye, because for the past 2 years I always had lots of problems with my contacts. I explained that I told doctor Dana at eyes rite eye care that the contacts he fit me in were causing me to have dry eye and that they felt uncomfortable, so he brought me back in for another look. He looked again and informed me that some people just have dry-eye and to switch to a different solution and that would help. So here I had been for 2-years, thinking I had chronic dry-eye living with the constant replenishment of fake tears and being forced to only have short-time wear of my contacts. Well, chronic dry-eye was not the problem after all. It turns out I actually have giant papillary conjunctivitis (GPC). GPC is caused by proteins secreted in your tears. This inflammatory reaction causes lid glands to secrete substances that create a filmy coating on contact lenses, making them uncomfortable and creating vision problems. This reaction was cause because I was allergic to the lenses that Eyes Rite Eye Care fit me with. The proteins actually started to adhere to my eye lids, creating a bumpy surface, now preventing a contact to stick to my eye because the eye lid actually pulls the contact off of my eye. My current doctor actually said that I have the worst case of this disease that she has ever seen. She even had other treating doctors in the clinic come in to observe my eye. Because Eyes Rite Eye Care did not catch this when I went back in, I cannot wear contacts for at least a year, nor can I have laser surgery to correct my vision. I am confined to the scammed eye glasses that this same clinic over charged me for! If that doesn't scare you away from this eye clinic, I don't know what will! read more

If you're looking for an eye place to fulfill all relevant needs, go here! Dr. Roh is the most patient, kind and thorough eye doctor I've encountered, and I've gone to eye doctors since I was tiny. She answered all the questions I had stored up, waiting to encounter a patient eye doctor who would answer them. Everyone else at Eyes Rite is just as helpful. They helped me choose glasses from their wide selection, and ordered them with every random specification I wanted. Then, when the glasses came back from the lab slightly imperfect, they had them remade for me. They also give me lots of samples of saline and eye drops and cases. When reflecting on my recent experience with this practice, the adjective that comes to mind is "thorough". From the initial interaction with the receptionist regarding information for my upcoming exam appointment, to Dr. Roh's intricate testing procedures, to her handwashing/equipment sterilization practices, to the exam summary e-mailed to me post-exam, everything about this practice is a top-notch kind of thorough. Dr Roh has a great team here. they go way above and beyond. i got my script from Dr Roh at Wallingford Eye Care and got my glasses elsewhere. when I had trouble with my new glasses I spoke with Barbara at Wallingford Eye Care. remember, i didn't even get my frames/lenses from her shop, but she sat down with me, after closing time, and systematically went through my new glasses. she asked what issues I was having with my new lenses. (all straight lines were arcing as soon as they got 10 degrees off directly in front of me.) She adjusted the temples, behind the ears, the lenses themselves, put a little wrap into the frame....everything. not only did most of the problem go away, but the frames finally fit, and they fit perfectly. I've been going to EyesRite for years. I originally chose the business because they have the lowest contact lens fee I've found. It was just $35 compared to the normal $75-$100 that most places charge. The contact lens fee is rarely covered by insurance so it has to come out of pocket. Eyes Rite has continued to keep their fee low, which I really appreciate. Dr. Roh is also very nice. Highly recommend! read more

Did not have a good experience. The staff was not informative on my options in terms of different lense quality, they gave me only one option, which is weird. They said they are the best quality but they turned out to be so heavy. They also damaged my existing frame (which I really liked) when putting in the new lenses. Last and worse, my contacts were not the right size even after going back and changing the size. Ended up wasting money and went to another doctor. read more

The doc was happy to answer all my questions about insurance, etc. which was nice, because there are many docs who would just tell you to talk to the office manager or receptionist, but he answered all of my annoying questions! Dr. Roh is by far the best eye doctor I have gone to. When you first arrive to her office, everything is so clean and organized. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Then they walk you into the eye exam room. Looking around, I could tell that she is very up to date and current on all the equipment and techniques used. Dr. Roh's exam is so thorough, detailed, and very comfortable. She explains everything along the way, and is stress-free and pain-free. I was looking into several other optometrists in the area, but many of my friends and relatives recommended Dr. Roh to me, as they were extremely happy with the care they were receiving. Initially, I went to Wallingford Eye Care to look for some glasses for my son. Regina, the optician, immediately had some great information for fitting his face/nose and types of frames for kids. Plus, she could connect with my 9 yo boy like a pro. This was already over and above the place up the street ,so I stuck around and looked at some frames for myself. I complained that with my high negative number, it had always been frustrating to wear glasses for more than a few days (limited peripheral vision for one thing) and once again the optician had suggestions about frames and lenses that would help reduce these problems. The collection of frames are not outrageously priced yet very stylish and current. Regina also recommended lenses that I could afford. She spent lots of time with me to be sure I found something I really liked and would work. I never felt rushed and all the staff were a pleasure. Free off street parking was a bonus. I really can't say enough good things about this place. While I didn't get our initial exams at this place, we will in the future. read more

I recently went on a Saturday to Wallingford Eye Care to fill a new prescription for glasses. My husband and daughter had both received service there, so I decided to go there as well. The person, Ms. X, who helped me was quite eager to assist and touted the business's use of the latest technology. Because I have a strong prescription, Ms. X said I should have the 1.74 index. I agreed that this is what I wanted. I also told her I wanted transition lenses since I don't have a pair of prescription sunglasses. She said I could get the 1.74 transition lenses. She wrote up the order and I paid my deposit. Two business days later (Tuesday), I received a voice message from her saying that the 1.74 index was not available with transition lenses and that my choices were the 1.74 index without transitions or the lower 1.67 index with transitions. Her recommendation was that I get the 1.74 index without the transitions because the highest index would be best with my prescription. I didn't return her call until the next day (Wednesday) when she repeated to me my options and her recommendation. At that point, I asked her what the cost of a pair of prescription sunglasses would be. Her estimate was $800. I told her I would call her back with my decision. After discussing this with my husband, it was clear that the $800 for a pair of prescription sunglasses was out of the question. I called Wallingford Eye Care on Thursday to cancel my order for glasses since I could not get what I had originally ordered. Ms. X was not in, so I talked to another employee who told me what I had been told earlier: I could not get the 1.74 index with transitions which I had ordered and paid a deposit on, but would have to instead get the 1.67 index if I wanted transitions. I said if I couldn't get what I had originally ordered I wanted to cancel. He passed my call on to Dr. Roh and we had the very same exchange. She told me Ms. X would call me back on Saturday. Ms. X did not call me back on Saturday. I called on Monday and left a message asking them to please confirm that they had cancelled my order. Ms. X called me on Tuesday and said she couldn't cancel my order. I said since they couldn't provide me with what I had ordered and paid a deposit on, then I should be able to cancel. She was adamant that I couldn't. Contrary to her earlier recommendation, she said that the 1.67 index with the transitions would be just fine and that I would be perfectly happy. She said that 1.74 transitions were not possible, that the technology did not exist. Since I had visited another eye care place in the interim which had checked with their labs and found one that did make 1.74 transitions, I knew that, in fact, such a thing was possible. Ms. X insisted that there were no labs that could do this. She continued to insist that I could not cancel my order. I asked her if the glasses had been made. She answered that they hadn't. I repeated that I wanted to cancel my order. She repeated that I couldn't. We went round and round on this. I reminded her that she had called me earlier in the week to get my okay on the order before the glasses were made. I told her I was not giving her the okay to make the glasses. She said that the other members of my family had been happy with their service. I chose to ignore this irrelevancy. But then she decided to shame me, the height of unprofessionalism. "What would your family members think of you?" she asked. Again, she insisted that I could not cancel the order because it was already in process. "But the glasses haven't been made," I reminded her. She replied that the office had incurred costs. I asked her to tell me what those costs were. At that point, she said she was going to consult with the doctor, so we hung up. Minutes later, she called back to tell me they would cancel the order, but that the office was breaking all ties with our family. Okay, I said, though it seemed silly of them to drop my husband and daughter as customers. The whole situation could have been avoided if Ms. X had confirmed with her lab whether 1.74 index transitions were possible before taking my deposit and placing the order.
