About four years ago, my glasses were getting so worn out, so I opted to get all-new specs. I have a good friend who is an optician, and he always does my measurements and creates my prescriptions for me. I brought my current prescription to the LensCrafters at Northgate Mall (or what's left of it), who promised me their lab could handle my heavy astigmatism. So I picked out a new frame and placed the order. Then they informed me I could get a second pair for 50% off, and I had been wanting to get prescription sunglasses anyways, so I opted to do the promotional offer for those glasses. I left the store feeling good that I had finally paid some attention to getting better eyesight. However, the result was horrific. First off, the lenses they gave me started to scratch up like crazy after the first month, despite my meticulous efforts to use only glasses-approved cleaning solution and microfiber cloth wipes to clean them. I mean, I was religious about it because I didn't want to scratch my beautiful new lenses. Turns out that didn't matter...they continued to get scratched up at a very fast pace. Secondly, they never produced my sunglasses. When I went in to pick up my regular glasses, they told me the sunglasses would take a little longer, which was fine with me. Two months later I called them wondering where my new sunglasses were. They told me the order had been cancelled. When I asked why, they couldn't produce a clear answer. They told me they would "look into it" and would let me know what they found out. They never, ever returned any of my calls, texts, or emails. I had to go back into the store a third time and demanded to know what was going on with my sunglasses order. They again told me the order was cancelled without any explanation as to why. They did not give me any option for honoring their promotional offer, which was the entire reason I decided to get the sunglasses in the first place. It was so infuriating, disrespectful, and negligent. Eventually, they reluctantly refunded my money, and I told them they had lost a customer for life. I was left searching for a new resource for my eye care that wouldn't treat me like a commercial pawn or just another consumer to scam. I live in Shoreline, so I took a chance and gave a call to Shoreline Eyecare. They were very understanding of my predicament and suggested I come in so they could see the glasses, my prescription, and give me their overall assessment of what would be a good next step for me to take. I immediately felt like someone actually gave a shit about my eyesight...which was very refreshing given the hellish experience at LensCrafters. My experience got even better after my first visit. I was offered a free check-up to verify the accuracy of my prescription, and then I met with a nice employee named Ally to review lens options for my existing frames (I wanted to keep the frames). When I showed her the glasses I got from LensCrafters, she looked them over for about twenty seconds and said my lenses were very likely defects because of the nature of the scratches and the fact they were so bad after a short period of time. As my blood boiled about being taken for a ride by yet another consumer-preying corporate entity such as LensCrafters, my conscience was slowly being convinced I had come to the right place at Shoreline Eyecare. It was exceptionally clear to me that Ally was thinking and acting upon my best interests. As she made suggestions, she checked the system to see if my insurance gave my discounted or covered options, she shared alternatives, showed me the supply line items for total transparency, and just made me feel like she was now my eyesight partner, as opposed to someone trying to sell me new glasses. When I decided to pull the trigger on the new lenses, I also decided to get the sunglasses as well since this seemed like a place that would be able to fulfill such a request. Ally informed me that, based on my insurance policy, it would behoove me to wait until after the new year because, at that point, she could apply a vision discounting to my order and save me close to $200! So I chose to do that for my regular glasses and went ahead with the sunglass order in the meantime. Ally helped me get the new lenses for my glasses ordered, they fit perfectly, and I'm now enjoying amazingly sharp and clear eyesight. Even being out of network for my insurance couldn't keep my business away. If you want real help for your eyesight, make sure you go to Shoreline Eyecare.

I have been seeing Dr Bell for over 3 years now. Her level of service is Above and Beyond - exceptional. I had forgotten what we said in my last appointment about needing 2 pairs of glasses for different activities, so I made another appointment. The appointment started on time, the receptionists were lovely. The equipment is top of the line. Dr Bell spent 40 mins going over everything about my eye care in great detail so that I fully understand how to take care of my eyes. She meticulously checked my glasses and prescription again and offered me a comprehensive plan going forward. She even gave me measurements for the glasses I'm going to order online so that I can input the right data on there and save some money on that pair. She was kind, patient and very thorough. I've been seeing optometrists for decades and she is the best.

I had had a bad experience at Visionworks up the street in being upsold again and again and having to pay $300 more than what I had been prepared to pay. When telling him I was just being honest in saying I needed to get my glasses on Zenni, he was polite, understanding, and friendly. The exam was quick, we talked about how the new glasses would help neck pain and eye strain. I told him I would love to have one place I go back to again and again for eye care as I don't have insurance for it and am paying time of service. Apparently, fitting GP hard contact lenses isn't something that all optometrist are skilled to do. After struggling to fit me, the young optometrist recommended that I see Dr. Patricia Keech at Highland Vision. Her office was a little further than I wanted to drive, but since she was recommended by my optometrist, I took that as validation that she must be good; and it turned out that she is very good. Dr. Keech has been my optometrist since then. She's very good at correcting vision and fitting my hard contact lenses. Since I don't have vision insurance, I pay cash (credit card) on the day of the service so I get a discount on the exam cost. The profit margin is too low for them to give a discount on the contact lenses.

Unfortunately, the first prescription was completely off -- my new glasses were unusable for my daily tasks. When I contacted the office to report the problem, they asked me to come back for a second exam. I did, hoping for a better outcome. A second pair of glasses was made with the new prescription, but that also failed to meet my needs. In 15 years of wearing bifocals, I have never experienced this with any other eye care provider. The entire process was time-consuming, frustrating, and ultimately left me without functional glasses -- twice. I cannot recommend this practice for anyone with specific or complex prescription needs, and I will not be returning for future eye care.

When I found out Lynn is managing this practice, I had to warn other people about her. I heard the main doctor is great here, but if she is the helper for the doctor, I would be careful. She talks about things she doesn't know anything about because she thinks she is so smart and above the doctors and will tell you things that are incorrect. She would argue with you because she thinks she knows better than the patient or their family members. It is so dangerous, I had to take my father away from the previous clinic that she worked at because of this assistant. She would say things that would contradict the doctor because she "thought" the doctor was not 100% right about my father's glaucoma care. She even said my father had cataracts before the doctor even said anything! If she is training the people working here, I would be very cautious about the information they give you that isn't from the doctor directly.
