Dr Wong diagnosed me to have glaucoma several years ago and prescribed me to take daily travatan eye drops. I never had confidence in his rationale based on various exam results. Last year I was tested by a glaucoma specialist and was taken off the eye drops for a month, then 3 months, then 6 months without change in eye pressure, field test results and internal eye properties. Unfortunately, the receptionist was so unpleasant and rude today, I will never come back. I arrived for my appointment on time, and was told she had given my appointment to someone else. I showed her the text message I had received via my mobile phone on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 that showed how I had confirmed the following day for my Friday appointment. She said she tried calling (as I was driving there) and didn't answer so she gave my appointment to someone else. Then she had the nerve to say that she could reschedule me for November. I randomly stopped to try Edmonds Vision Care to take a look at their selection of frames. I was warmly welcomed into the office by one of the Doctors who happened to at the front reception desk when I arrived. He even got me started by giving me some general info., listening to my needs, and taking me to the glasses section that was my frame size. They let me look around and take my time trying on several pairs of glasses until I found the perfect frames. I appreciated not being hounded, or pressured while I was looking, but someone was still close by to answer any questions that I had. After picking my frames, I worked with Will, I think he is an Optician, on the rest of the details for choosing the lens type, ordering, and payment. I had just planned on looking g around and checking prices, but when you try on a perfect frame for your face "you just know", and I had to get them! I was also given a detailed quote, and it was explained very throughly. He took the time to sit down and make sure I was getting all my questions answered, I really appreciated that. He was very knowledgeable and professional. The Edmonds Vision Center itself is located in a convenient area, on an intersection corner in downtown Edmonds. The office was very clean, orderly, nicely decorated. I have been very happy with my experience there thus far, and I can't wait to get my new glasses back! I have already made an appointment for a vision exam to become an established patient. I will also add that I have been going to vision providers for my entire life, as I started with glasses as a very young child, and Edmonds Vision Center is definitely one of my top, experiences I have ever had. I was worried that because they would be too expensive, but I was thrilled to find that their prices on frames and lenses seem to be very competitively priced, and their selection is much better the other places I've looked. For the quality, service, and overall experience you get at Edmonds Vision Center, it is well worth going there over going to Costco, America's Best, other those "big box" stores. read more

Dishonest doctors. We scheduled a contact fitting for our child but when we arrived they performed another vision screening even though we had recently done a screening there. We then scheduled another contact fitting. We could not successfully put in contacts so we scheduled a 3rd visit. Not successful there either. Scheduled yet another visit (all requiring missing school) and they cancelled the appointment due to employee sickness even though the technician for our appointment was healthy and available. Apparently they wanted to make money from other customers instead of fulfilling their commitment to do contact fitting. ($180 for contact fitting). Overall, poor communication and not trustworthy. read more

Like others have said, I was really put off but their customer service and strict policies. The appointment only policy was made clear to me, to the point of rudeness, when I tried to stop in to look at the frames. I made an appointment and got glasses, and they came really quickly, which I was happy about and why I gave three stars for the review. However, a few weeks later I needed my new glasses adjusted and thought to stop by, but knowing their strict policy called to see if I could come by. But no, they told me I needed an appointment and they didn't have any appointments until the following week. But, they are not the only vision place so I found another place with good customer service to get my glasses adjusted (it literally took them 4 minutes) and will be getting my prescription sunglasses there as well. read more

I was running local errands, and looking for a shop in Edmonds to have new glasses made for a post-surgery prescription prepared by my opthamologist. The selection of men's eyewear in Edmonds is limited, but I was curious to see what Edmonds Vision Center had. However, Edmonds Vision Center was apparently too grand for me to even be able look at frames at my convenience even to get an idea of what they had. They told me I must have an appointment even to look at their frames, and they could not squeeze me in until Sunday; today was Tuesday. One can only wonder what the absence of customer service would be like if purchased anything from them. Clearly Edmonds Vision Center is not a consumers paradise. I went elsewhere to look at frames, and purchased a new pair of glasses there. read more

Update: 4 years later and this place is still awesome! Today I went in for an annual exam and was blown away by the service. The technician remembered everything on my intake notes and mentioned them by memory throughout testing-- amazing!! You could tell she really takes the time to know the patient needs prior to each appointment. Same was true for Dr. Solum.. mentioning various aspects of my intake form during the appointment. So refreshing to be treated like a person and not another number. Getting fitted for glasses was also a great experience and the staff were so kind trying to help me find my perfect pair. Healthcare like this is rare these days. Highly recommend the whole edmonds vision center team. read more

I had seen the reviews and decided to try Edmonds Vision Center. Dr McFarland was great. Did a routine contact lens/glasses appointment. She'd asked if I'd like to go in for glaucoma testing. I wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to owe anything for the second appointment. They took my medical card and said that I will not owe for the second appointment. A month later, I get a bill for $246.23. When calling the office, I was told that they have a new person that misspoke and they can't do anything since it is part of my deductible and left me hanging. They wouldn't even meet me in the middle. Needless to say, I will not be back. Really poor service, clearly poor training and absolutely no responsibility was taken on their side. Oh...and I waited 3 months for my initial appointment! ARGH! Glad I didn't buy my glasses here. read more

I must take great care to find the right doctor that is knowledgeable and can make a good plan for continued eye care. Plus finding glasses is always hard. Because of my type of prescription I'm limited in the type of lens I can get (or at least the chain stores had brainwashed me into thinking) Dr Wess is amazing & the optician found me the perfect pair of frames on the first pair. Literally! It usually takes like 20 pair before I actually find the perfect frame. Also she WAS able to get me the type of lens I wanted. Edmonds Vision Center, (EVC), was referred to me by just about everyone I asked up north when I saw them out and about, sporting cute frames. I was holding out on purchasing new frames for myself until we go to New York later this year, but after visiting EVC, I had the wonderful problem of having about 8 pairs of frames to debate over. However, Jaymie, Robin, and Michelle (it takes a village), helped me narrow my choices down and eventually choose my perfect pair for my imperfect eyes. I really like going here, and I discovered that if you go early, like on Saturday mornings, it is relatively quiet. This was the only way my daughter and I could go, together. To take our time to explore multiple frames, have experienced and kind staff all to ourselves, and to make a decision without multiple external sensory distractions besides our own brains racing with anxiety and choice, was key in us making a sound decision and purchase. (Did I mention they have LOTS of choices?) My daughter's frames came in ready, less than a week, and, here's the best part: SHE WEARS THEM. She's already popped the lenses out of the frames a few times when forgetting they were on her face and deciding to roll down a big grassy hill. After finding the lens, it easily snapped back in, and she was back in the business of being a kid. She and my husband have stopped by for adjustments, and it is just an easy experience. I met Dr. Wong, for my first exam, and he is by far the nicest, most educated and patient eye doctor I have ever gone to. He LISTENS, answers my questions, and is overall a very nice human. I found Edmonds Vision Center through its positive Yelp reviews and it's in my insurance network, so I decided to try it out. My husband's first appointment was on a Saturday and one of the machines was not working properly, so we were delayed quite a bit (45 mins) in getting in to see the doctor, so we also left quite a bit later than expected. However, the staff was very apologetic and even offered Tully's gift cards for the inconvenience. My first appointment, also on a Saturday, was delayed as well because another patient took a walk-in appointment with an urgent need. But this delay was much shorter than the first (15 mins). Dr. Wong is very attentive and explains his recommendations thoroughly. He was patient with me as I sought a new contact lens brand and had me try a number of options until we found just the right fit. I was given three different pairs of trial lenses and follow-up appointments to check the fit were quick and free. The staff is knowledgeable about insurance coverage, scheduling appointments is a breeze and everyone is friendly. Also, I really value the Saturday appointment options as well as office hours late during the week (after work). Also, the contact lens prices quoted by EVC were competitive to 1-800-Contacts. The new facility is really nice, clean and located in downtown Edmonds, so you can spend some time before or after your appointment to window shop and enjoy the scenery. read more

Yay! Just went here today because someone lost my glasses. OK it could have been me, but I've checked the garbage and recycling with no luck. It's been over a month now that I've been wearing an old pair with only one arm. The 7 and 4 yr old claim innocence but I'm not so sure. I digress. Had to suck it up and buy new specs. Went to a few places and fell in love with a pricey pair from Face a Face. Without including insurance these were going to cost a pretty penny. In the summer Edmonds Vision Center previews entire collections from various designers (Oakley, Prodesign and Face a Face) to name a few. I just happened to be looking for new glasses, stopped by and was told about the trunk shows and a special discount they will give you on frames during this weekend special. I did a little comparative shopping, and returned today to check out the collection with an idea of how much I wanted to spend. Got a yummy pair for $75 off, plus ran my insurance through and got them for a great price. I don't know if you can walk in and get an appointment or not, but I found the whole staff to be helpful and met with optometrist and plan to go here from now on for all of my eye ball needs. read more

Full disclosure here, I haven't actually visited this optometrist. BUT I cannot speak highly enough of the administration staffer Rachael. I requested an appointment online for a weird pupil thing I had going on. It was an automated appointment request system. The next day Rachael presumably read my request and immediately contacted me as she recognized I had strange symptoms that may need to be addressed. She asked about my symptoms and consulted with the doctor and kept me informed and tried to arrange an early appt for me to see the doctor as a medical visit. I couldnt see the doctor in Edmonds due to work commitments but I made an appt with a doctor closer to where I worked. Turned out there was nothing to worry about and I just went on and forgot all about it. A couple of days later, because I had made no contact. Rachael made sure to contact me, and ensure that everything was OK and ask if I needed anything. I cannot praise the professionalism, care and attention of this woman enough. It is so rare to find that in companies these days that it is a real treat to know that excellent customer service still exists. I will definitely be making this my optometrist next year when my eye exam comes up. read more

I went here based on the yelp reviews and what I saw on their website. This was such a pleasant trip to the eye doctor and I have been going to different doctors for more than a decade. I had Dr. Wong for my appointment and he was extremely pleasant and thorough. I had such a great time that I scheduled my wife for an appointment in the new year. I came on a Saturday after my appointment to look at glasses to go with my new prescription and the optical staff is very friendly and helpful. I never felt pushed toward any frame brand or style. After about 30 minutes I had my new pair of frames and lens picked out and was out the door and on with my day. They have a very wide selection of frames in all price ranges and styles. I'll be recommending them to all my friends and co-workers that wear glasses. read more

I was "referred" to Edmonds Vision Center through my provider's website. I was attracted to the location and the hours of operation. When I arrived, I was greeted by a friendly receptionist and did the typical completion of mandatory forms. The assistant, Laurie (sp?) was very polite and provided helpful instructions for all the preliminary visual tests. I was able to see Dr. Solum immediately. Dr. Solum was very thorough with the exam and speckled the visit with humor and compassion. I was very pleased with how personable she was. The rest of the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. I ordered my year's supply of contact lens and will be back for glasses. Will definitely recommend! And I can't wait to see the new location in July! read more

Very rude receptionists! I have been coming here for years and have never been treated so horribly! They will not be getting my business anymore! About two years ago I moved to Marysville but still drive down here a couple times a year. I recently got new insurance and they made me feel so incredibly stupid. One of the over weight receptionists went to go do a insurance check and she had a disgusted look on her face then while walking away sighed like it was such a big ordeal. After she had told me that it would take close to a half an hour to do that, then when I told her I would wait she looked very upset and agitated. read more

This was a horrible experience. I was not informed of the charges billed that were above my insurance preventive plan which required me to pay out of pocket. This should have been fully disclosed before they make their decision to add unnecessary imagery and tests that are above the standard. They are just upselling and trying to make extra money. I was then fitted for contacts that burned my eyes and caused pain. These did not improve my vison and created blurry and uncomfortable results. It seems they could do better at getting my prescription right. This business seems to be more interested in taking your money than taking care of the patient by getting their concerns and issues resolved. Very disheartening that a business like this can operate and take our money while leaving us with nothing in return for the service. I am now in a position of having to wait a whole year before I can get my eyes checked again, and have my vision addressed by a reputable operation, unless I want to pay out of my own pocket. Lastly the technician assigned to me was rude and impetuous and did not seem to care when I shared my concerns and discontent. She stepped out of the room to speak with the doctor, and upon returning stated that "since we are unable to make you happy, I will show you the door". She then proceeded to escort me to the front door. Stay away if you are looking for results and satisfaction. read more

This evening at 8 pm after my shower - I found I could not take a contact out of my left eye. I tried pulling and it was stuck. My wife, the lovely Heather Bosch (www.heatherbosch.com) said the best thing would be to call Edmonds Vision and talk to the on-call doc. That was Dr Wong. He talked us through some preliminary steps to try to fix it on our own, but when that failed he said he would meet us down at the clinic in 10 minutes! 20 minutes later I was much better - thanks to Dr. Wong!!! That was a huge mistake, and left me with glasses I could barely see through and frames I hated. When I returned to Edmonds Vision Center, not only did they redo my prescription, but they also checked my macular health against their records from my last visit. Had my eye appointment last fall (Dr. Wong was friendly and the eye appointment was a breeze!) but I waited until this spring to get new glasses since my prescription hadn't changed. Dropped in to pick out frames yesterday and Robin helped me out -- she was fantastic, friendly and had excellent advice about options that helped me save money while finding the perfect pair! My family and I have been going to Dr. Wong and Dr. Solum since we moved to Edmonds 14 years ago. They are excellent doctors and great people. They are thorough and take the time to explain treatment options. Dr. Wong also helped my husband's mother from the Ivory Coast obtain charitable cataract surgery that restored her sight so she could remain in her home for the last years of her life.
