My son and I walked into Eyes on Fremont half an hour before closing on a Saturday afternoon. His glasses had broken mid arm for the third time. We had super glued them together the previous two breaks but this time it was unfixable. We had ordered new glasses, but his insurance only uses one lab and it takes eight weeks. Eyes on Fremont quickly replaced the broken arm with a much higher quality piece. A little background, my 11-year-old son suddenly started losing his vision a little over a year ago and he needs his bifocals to have any clear vision at all. We had spoken to many places the first few times they broke and insurance only provides one pair of glasses a year. Eyes on Fremont was the only place willing to help without even knowing what a massive difference it would make for my son. If I could give a negative review on the eyecare I received at Eyes on Fremont, I would. I have worn glasses for 40+ years and I have never had such a negative experience at an eye doctor. I spent $800 on a pair of glasses from Eyes on Fremont. I was also provided a contact lens prescription as well where I ordered the lenses online. I received the lenses and could not see out of a single pair!. Obviously there was a problem with the prescription. But, Eyes on Fremont told me it's likely that all 12 pair were defective. I was told by Eyes on Fremont that the only thing I could do is come in for a new exam. I do not live locally. I am now out $500 and Eyes on Fremont refuses to take any responsibility. I hope that reading this prevents someone from falling into the same circumstances I did. Do not get your eyes examined here. They will take zero responsibility for incorrect prescriptions. read more

The staff are super-friendly, the selection of glasses is excellent, the optometrist is really helpful, and I'm super happy with the glasses I got. (I'd decided to try a progressive lens but later decided I didn't like the progressive-lens situation, and they swapped out the lenses for a single-vision pair no problem at no cost - just dropped off my glasses for about an hour and they were ready for pickup right away). My prescription had just changed across distance and reading glasses and the frames to update were a mix of Ebay vintage finds and reading glasses (ancient) from Eyes on Fremont (my reading prescription doesn't update often). The space is chic and has a super chill vibe. I almost wanted to order a beer (disclaimer: no alcohol served at this establishment) simply because of the friendly staff. I had no appointment and walked in on a whim when the screw of my glasses fell out on the treadmill The guy offered to help, fixed the glasses and cleaned them... free of charge. I think I will check them out next time I need lenses simply because of their amazing customer service. They also live up to their mission about being diverse and focusing on community. I used to have the great experience others did. FWIW, I've gotten my glasses here for over a decade, only going somewhere else a few times. The major reason was the EonF workers: they were always really nice, and from the moment you walked in, someone came and devoted themselves to finding just the right frames for you--they had a genuine talent for it, and they knew their stock. But returning from 2 years in PA, I find things have shifted. Now you're given a box and told to go and pick out your own, someone will check up on you in a bit (Covid routine, maybe?). And the customer service isn't the same. I went on a Saturday, and it was busy, as always (never affected the service gotten before). The person who helped me was nice but seemed surprised when I asked for recommendations and about the out-of-site stock. I ended up choosing a pair, mostly thanks to my husband's input, but ended up taking them back. After 4 adjustments, they still hurt and gave me headaches. (I was also unlucky with the person I had to interact with on 2 of those adjustments: they were impatient and gave off vibes of "don't be a whiny bitch.") I took time off to go on a weekday morning--it was quieter. Things went better. The gentleman at the counter was sympathetic and kind, took the glasses back, and gave me store credit . And although I was once again given a box, I went ahead and told the woman who came to check on me that I didn't like any of them (which was true), probably because I had no idea what looked good (also true). She looked a little surprised but asked several really pertinent questions, then whisked off to bring me 4-5 pairs to try. All of them looked pretty good, and one pair I liked and got. But unfortunately, when I went to go pick them up, I got that same not-so-nice person. They just handed them over, didn't check the fit. (Any time I've EVER gotten glasses--including the pair I had to return--someone has sat down and gone through the usual drill of checking nose and earpieces, etc.) When I asked this person about it, I got the the same "whiny bitch" vibes and was told that they "looked" fine. Not cool. Even whiny bitches shouldn't have to make their own judgment call on whether the glasses fit as they should. But by that time, I'd had it. I'll have my eye doc check them for me. And I won't be going back to Eyes on Fremont. Too hit-or-miss. My recommendation: If you go here, go on a weekday morning and don't hesitate to ask for personal assistance. And if you get someone unpleasant, be brave and ask for someone else. read more

Unfortunately, I didn't know the prescription I provided was the most inaccurate I've ever received. I LOVE Eyes on Fremont. They're local, will help you find actual frames that fit your face, will give you an HONEST opinion, and put up with the pickiest and ficklest customers (me). They. Are. Awesome. You can find something super unique or something basic but beautiful. They also will hear what you are looking for, and pull SO many options from the back. I recommend them 100%. They don't take insurance but they will give you a note for your insurance and I've had no issues making claims. They are a true small business that believe in providing quality unique eyewear. I, uh, have "several" pairs of glasses from them. I took a break from purchasing new eyewear during the pandemic, but they still welcomed me by name when I came back in for a new pair 2 years later. My glasses arrived in less than 5 working days! I went in to get them fitted and in the past I would get them fitted and just accepted the semi poor fit-I am asian and I don't have a strong bridge and glasses are sometimes a nightmare to fit. Any place that I went to in the past usually bend them a little here and little there and then they do't really fit...Eyes on Fremont is different. This is hard to write. The showroom people there are really polite and helpful, and the frames there are great. Out of the four glasses stores I went to, I liked the frames here the most and I ended up buying frames and lenses from Eyes on Fremont. The downside was that their sales person was deceptive around the insurance payback. To stay "independent" and keep costs down, they don't file any insurance for you. That is fine. I support their independence and their choice as a business not to deal with the paperwork. I had read through my own insurance plan so I felt prepared to do that myself (spoiler alert: I had clearly missed something). This is my first ever time buying prescription glasses), and the EOF employee told me that several things would be covered by my insurance, VSP. The lenses were stock, they would be covered. Basic coating? covered (he put it on the order without my asking for it, but assured me it was usually covered so not to worry when I brought it up). He even filled out the VSP insurance form for me to mail in when I got home, which was helpful. Clearly he understands my insurance plan! Long story endless, after buying one of their cheapest frames and stock lenses, I was left holding a $150 bill after VSP refused to cover most of the purchase because Eyes on Fremont is "out of network". I disputed it, but lost. There is a big difference between "this is mostly covered" and "you will be paying for most of this". If that extra $150 was the price to pay for helping you "fight evil", I may still have bought them. They are amazing glasses! It was just a kick in the gut when I got that reimbursement check and found out that what you sold me was not at all covered in the way you said it would be. read more
