I figured it was time for a check up, as my main frames had given out, and my back ups were giving me headaches. The reviews read well and Ballard vision plus is right in the neighborhood. Dr. Ferdosian performed the most thorough eye exam I've ever received. Turns out my back ups were over prescribed on my left eye. My exam included the fitting for contact lenses. I was sent home with a pretty decent pair of contacts, considering my slight astigmatism. 5 stars for her work. I brought with me a pair of Saint Laurent frames to be fitted for my new script with anti glare gray transition lenses. I was informed it would take two weeks for turnaround, since their production lab is up in Bellingham, which is the the longest I would ever have to wait (been wearing glasses since the 90's). I called two weeks in to follow up, and they had yet to arrive. I stopped in a few days after that hoping they would be ready for pick up, but I was then told the glasses had been shipped to the wrong shop. I kind of needed them for a trip around the time, so I was a little disappointed. Nonetheless, they were ready upon my return from the short trip, for a total turnaround time of 23 days. Would recommend for convenience and Dr. Ferdosian's work alone. Would be nice to have a rush option available or a closer lab, considering the high output of the shop. read more

Their tech is sub par, i went in for contacts and they don't fit you first, first they randomly order contacts and if they don't fit, they reorder. Nobody knew the price for the lenses, they all looked at each other as if i was the first person to ever ask the price. By the way the price for a pair is $250...its a solid rip off... you can find a better price almost anywhere. The doctor wouldn't give me my prescription for the contact lenses... very unprofessional office. Very small selection of glasses, looks like they don't care about style and just order randomly to fill the shelf. You will find it easy to book an appointment, and the doctor is nice... but I still wouldn't go back. read more

Probably too soon to give this review...but my experience today was 5 star. I was a walk in just looking to purchase glasses. I didn't have the correct insurance ID number for pediatric vision benefit. Mandy/Maggie? at front desk within moments of me walking in had my rx transferred from a different location and VSP on the phone. While she was doing that Tunde got my daughter's measurements and we were out the door. There was some issue with VSP and someone name Timothy called and got that worked through to get an exception for different glasses that better fit my daughter's face...each step of the way he followed up with me in what was a multiple call required resolution. I'm hoping the glasses delivery is an amazing as this...will update later. read more

After several bad experiences with opticians and vision offices over the years I was looking for something new. The reviews and a verification from a friend told me it was worth the 30 minute drive to Vision Plus and boy, they were right. Super on it with scheduling in the phone and with reminders, kind and thorough when I came in, efficient with their services and they didn't try to push me to buy anything either. A few weeks later, pleased with their service I brought my daughter in and they were wonderful with her. They took the time to fit her with contacts and made sure she was comfortable with them before letting us go. When there was a delay in shipping with the manufacturer, the staff jumped in and took care of the issue right away. Great service and I will be back!! read more

Positive experience at each phase of my visit: from greeting, to exam, to great help selecting frames, of which they have a nice selection.

I've avoided the eye doctor because I hate having my eyes dilated and that weird air pressure test, so I was ecstatic that they have a machine that images your eyes (no dilation!) and a new air pressure check that isn't uncomfortable. All of the staff here were very friendly, helpful, and low pressure. I did not feel like they were trying to up-sell me or push me into frames that didn't match my style. In fact it was exactly the opposite: they let me look and come to decisions on my own and then gave me advice on lens type and affordability with my insurance. They were efficient too--eye exam, picking out new glasses, and checked out in less than an hour! They had several frames in stock and were willing to order in any frames they did not have. I look forward to ordering more pairs from them and not avoiding my next eye exam. read more

I just came from there for my first visit. I give Dr. Pyle and A+, he genuinely cares about your eyes and your budget. I feel very well taken care of. On top of that, I was fully expecting a high pressure sales pitch for glasses, but none was made. He explained why I might want bifocals. He explained the difference and SHOWED ME! I had an appointment with Dr. Pyle. It was absolutely great. The staff told me there's a machine they could use so I wouldn't have to have my eyes dilated. They even informed me beforehand that it would cost a little more and my insurance wouldn't cover it. I gladly took them up on the offer because I went during my lunch break. Dr. Pyle was great and very friendly, he told me about certain issues to be aware of in my eyes. He explained that there's nothing to worry about now, but could be a problem in the future if not looked at closely. He even suggested lasik as it's a good time in my life to get it, which also would reduce the amounts of time I would need to see him for eye appointments. He was very upfront and honest about it, and he doesn't do lasik himself. It's nice to know when your doctor suggests something beneficial for you which would reduce their business/money they get. It was a very honest and helpful eye exam, I would recommend Dr. Pyle to anyone. read more

Very comfortable to be around and explains things quite thoroughly and is happy to answer any questions you have. I've used these guys twice and they've been a mess both times. -First time to get my prescription updated and the doctored was late and eventually called in sick several minutes after our appointment was supposed to start and we had to reschedule. -Second time I was just ordering contacts from them, I was told when I ordered my insurance should cover the payment but that they weren't sure. When I went to collect my contacts I was assured I owed no money and that my contacts were covered by my insurance. Fast forward several weeks I get a call saying I owe them money, I tell them that they must be incorrect because I was assured when I picked up the contacts I was covered by insurance. Fast forward a few more weeks and I get a letter and phone call from a debt collection service. I don't trust these guys at all, when I picked up my contacts I was assured that I didn't owe them any money so to get a call from a debt collector is ridiculous. What was your employee looking at when he assured me I was covered and that my contacts were paid for?? If you hand me my order and say it is paid for I do not owe you any money. read more

I had an eye exam at Vision Plus of Ballard on Tuesday of this week. The staff was great! The doctor (Victoria) was very kind and made sure that I understood each step of the exam process. I never felt that I was being steered toward an expensive pair of frames to purchase. In fact, the pair that the employee told me looked best on me were one of the less expensive pairs on my short list. They also have their prices very well marked on the frames - I have been to places where you're not sure how much anything will cost until you are actually ordering, so that was a great feature. The selection of frames isn't the largest in the area. The frames that they have though tended toward more fashion forward frames which was great for my preferences. I have been wearing glasses since I was 7 years old, so I have been going to eye doctors and purchasing frames for 25 years. This was truly one of my best experiences both with the doctor and purchasing frames. Highly recommend. read more

Ben did the impossible and taught my daughter how to use her new contacts, while making her totally at ease! I found Dr. Pyle on a list of nearby VSP providers, and I'm really glad I chose his clinic! I'm a graduate student from a university in California, and it turns out I've had a significantly wrong prescription for one eye, and a slightly off one for the other for the last year (who knows maybe two?). Basically one was far to weak, and the other a bit too strong. Perhaps the work of a well intentioned but hectic university clinic, perhaps my own fault as well. Anyway, Dr. Pyle and his staff were a pleasure to work with. He provided me a trial pair and encouraged me several times to try another pair with a slightly different prescription in one eye if I wanted, before ordering my new contacts. I also tried out the photography option (instead of dilation), and enjoyed it thoroughly. This is a friendly staff that knows how to work together! Come and see Dr. Pyle :) read more

My issue wasn't with Dr. Pyle or the eye exam but with the staff. In terms of Dr. Pyle he is very attentive, quick, and great with the eye exam. Afterwards you wait in the main room to view the frames. There is the receptionist who just sits there and another staff member showing the frames- there was one person being helped so I thought once she was done with him, I would be next (I was the only person in the wait/main area). 20 minutes later I was still waiting, 35 minutes later another staff members "pops up" to help another person out who was picking up their frames and was also checking out sun glasses- that was when I had had enough- I asked for my spectacle lens RX and left. The receptionist apologized for the wait but by then the damage was done. After the exam had they told me it would be a 30+ minutes wait to view frames I would have simply left and came back at a more convenient time- the last thing I want to do on a Saturday afternoon is waste my time. They need to work on being upfront on the wait time for looking at frames. read more

Had my first ever eye exam here just the other week and it was a good experience. I walked in and was greeted right away. I didn't have to wait long to be taken back after filling out my paperwork. Dr Pyle was very nice and made me feel very comfortable. He answered all of my questions throughly and was very patient with me since he knew I was nervous at times with him getting close to my eyes. I went here today for the first time to get an eye exam and new glasses. My old glasses were broken -- they were very badly twisted out of shape, and one side had come unscrewed. I had a very pleasant exam from Dr. Pyle, who is quite warm and personable. I mentioned somewhat offhandedly that I'd given up on wearing contact lenses because they always hurt my eyes, and he responded by ordering a sample of the newest technology lenses for me to try out, at no charge. After the exam, Vicky helped me find the right frames. She was very patient as I tried and re-tried frames indecisively. She picked out several pairs that she thought would look good on me, and in the end I went with one of her suggestions, which seemed to suit my face better than the pair I had picked out initially. The bonus came at the end of my visit. When I arrived, Vicky had taken my old broken pair of glasses in order to determine my old prescription. Not only did she screw the lens back in place, but she also (after asking my permission) very carefully and very slowly coaxed the twisted metal straight again. They're salvaged now to be used as a backup pair... all at no charge. I'm really happy to have found this place in my neighborhood, and I will definitely go back in the future. read more

The optometrist at Vision Plus is excellent. What the staff did with his prescription was disappointing. I have VSP with good benefits. I already had Ray Ban frames which I wanted filled with a sunglasses prescription. After two weeks the glasses arrived from the lab. I wore the glasses for 45 minutes and I developed a eye strain in my left eye. I took the glasses back 1, 2, 3 times and staff adjusted the frames and provided many excuses that this & that were off but to no avail the glasses were not right. I went to a second optometrist and he immediately said the prescription was off center by about 15 degrees causing eye strain. He refilled the prescription with the proper one and I been wearing the glasses without eye strain. read more

I've been nearsighted my whole life and was diagnosed with a degenerative retinal disease as a college student. This is to say, I've seen a lot of eye doctors in my life and, until seeing Dr. Pyle, none really stood out. This place is a very special small business. The doctor sets aside a full 45 minutes for yearly eye appointments and does the most thorough examination of eye health I've ever had, which includes a retinal scan (I'd previously had to see opthamologists to have this done). The guys in the front office are friendly and helpful and aren't pushy about selling eyewear. They gave me a TON of free contact lenses to try out before I had to buy anything. They've earned a lifelong patron. So long as I need eye care I'm going there. read more

Absolutely the worst service I have ever received. They made a mistake on my reading glasses, tried to blame me for it because I didn't specify that my reading glasses were going to be worn over my contact lenses (which I ordered from them at the same time as the reading glasses, so it should have been obvious or at least clarified by them), argued with me on the phone and then declared that they were refunding my order and not allowing me back in their store.
