I can't say enough good things about this shop. Convenient location, great customer service, spot on style advice. But their distinguishing feature is that they have frame styles and sizes I haven't been able to find anywhere else. If you have odd face proportions, or most standard glasses look oversized on you, maybe give this place a try. Well it's been almost 8 months and we still don't have the correct lenses that we paid extra for. I know covid slowed things down but this is getting a ridiculous. My daughter needs her glasses. I call almost every week and the answer is always they'll be ready next week... Luckily we did end up getting some lenses after several months and many phone calls but they are not correct. We paid for transitions but that was not included on what we received. The lenses we do have also do not fit the frame very well, I'll admit we brought in our own frames but are there supposed to be gaps? read more

Called in for my yearly eye check-up at this spot mainly because this was within walking distance from where I live. Mario took the call, scheduled the appointment appropriately, and when I arrived for my appointment, was polite and guided me to the 'waiting' area. The optometrist and Mario were both friendly and client-centered, making my experience pretty good. I also had my glasses made and because these are my first pair of glasses, I can't really comment on that aspect of it. If it's worth noting, I didn't have any issues with my insurance! Reading through these reviews it seems that I have received the average customer experience with this shop. I think that there are pieces of a class action lawsuit present. I purchased my glasses (please see attached receipt) November 14th of 2020. I then called about my glasses in December of 2020 when I hadn't heard from them. I received a very rude short response from the assumed owner who said that "I told you I would call you when your correct lenses came in. Don't you remember when I said that, don't you listen?" The owner of the shop is incredibly unprofessional and both times that I was in this shop he said "sorry we are short staffed." Then he tried to blame Covid for the entire situation. He also fired his one administrative staff member during a pandemic and if that doesn't tell you all you need to know about his character I don't know what will. I spent $500 on lens and add ons for them. He said he was giving me a "better deal by not using your insurance." (Again the attached receipt shows that he is a liar and that he billed my insurance.) The glasses that I received did not give any semblance of help with my vision in the slightest. Fast forward to June 1, I emailed them to say that they were in material breach of contract and that not only did I not want him to take another week to "fix the problem". As I have zero faith or trust in him or his company to provide what I pay for. That he was in material breach of contract and had been since the moment that I received the pair of glasses that were not the ones I paid for. He then tried to ask me to give him another week to make this right and I told him he was taking the lenses out of the frames and that he would be giving me a full refund. Which he did. Moral of the story, don't go to this place. I will also be submitting a complaint to the Department of Health and to the Better Business Bureau. Because this is negligent to an almost criminal level. This part is directly to the store. You are well on your way to being sued. I am completely amazed that you haven't been sued already. You should probably find a good business law Attorney. The fact is that you are supposed to provide healthcare. If you can not or will not do that. Then maybe switch fields to something that affects the consumer less directly on a day to day basis. read more

Mario is very genuine and will help you get the right frame and lenses to however you like. A month ago I was looking to get new frames and I was going around the Seattle area to potentially buy a new frame since I was due for new glasses. Most places I went could careless if you were at their establishment. But when I went inside Spex in the city, I immediately was welcomed by Mario. I mentioned to him how I wanted anti reflective coating on my next glasses, and he quickly educated me about the types of coating they over and he said that he'll give me the crizal rock for a great deal since I was interested in them. I came back to Spex in the city and as promised not only did Mario help me choice the right frame and coating that is scratch- smudge resistant he also was willing to work with my budget. I called in early June to get a new patient appointment and Mario put me on the books for one for 4 weeks down the line. An hour and a half before my appointment, Mario left me a voicemail saying the doctor had an emergency and that I'd have to be rescheduled. When I called to reschedule, the receptionist was confused at my appointment because Spex never hired an eye doctor to staff it?! I'm baffled at the blatant disrespect of my time and that Mario would flat out lie about availability to hold me on the calendar, and then lie again to cancel on me day-of. I can't enable this bad behavior. I'm happily going to wait a month for someone else's new patient appointment. read more

I really gave this place every chance. I've been going for years but service keeps deteriorating. Last year it took six weeks to get my new prescription. This year I went in on January 13 for an eye exam and again ordered a new pair of glasses. I only received a credit card receipt, not an itemized receipt. I called to ask about it but they do not answer their phone. So, I went in. I was promised a receipt via email within a day. It never came. I tried calling again twice, but they still don't answer their phone. Six weeks later, I call again. They still don't answer so I leave a message and say I need an itemized receipt within the next day or I will dispute the transaction with the credit card company. With no response, no glasses, and no receipt, I disputed the transaction with Visa just before my 60 days expired. The optometrist was great. She was efficient, polite, and explained everything she was doing. That's great but what is the point when they can't deliver the glasses you came for? Really disappointing. I came here because it was close to my apartment and I need new glasses. Mario was extremely kind and helpful. He pulled so many glasses for me and taught me what frames would best fit my face. I picked a pair of frames that I thought would be cool. Unfortunately, I hadn't thought about long-term wear, and they weren't what I was used to or comfortable with. I had gone back maybe 3 times in a day to keep getting them adjusted and every time I was welcomed into the store and my needs were addressed. Thankfully there is a trial period to test them out and, I decided I needed to get a different set of frames. I was able to get a new pair without any additional cost. I'm extremely happy with my second set, and Mario even told me if these didn't work either, it's the same process until we get it right. I felt totally comfortable to voice my thoughts, knowing they would be heard, and I don't think any large retail store would have handled my situation like this. I'm not sure what all the negative reviews are about. I had a wonderful experience there. I went in to purchase a pair of glasses. They were attentive (but not too attentive) and informative. He even gave me a discount because I'm an educator. He wouldn't let me leave that first visit without adjusting my glasses since they were crooked. He told me that it would take three weeks to get in, but they actually came in after two weeks! It was easy to get in contact with the office via email to schedule appointments and make inquiries. I stumbled in here on impulse while walking back home, needing someone to help me install a lens into a pair of frames - a pair of frames, I might add, that I did not purchase at this store. The infinitesimally small screw had been nearly stripped because my equally minute screwdriver was unequal to the task. Mario fixed it in moments, though it was almost past the point of no return. Inside the store, I was captivated by the extremely well curated assortment of frames. It's hard for me to walk past a wall of eyeglass frames, I'll admit. The same can be said for cheesecake, that's a far less expensive habit. The glasses on offer here are a perfect mix of lovely, conservative offerings liberally interspersed with distinctive, bright, and even quirky statement frames. Many are European, where people seem to care more about their eyewear: beautiful, fashion-forward colors, modern finishes, and some made from the new, super-light materials. The number of good choices are almost overwhelming, and many of them seemed to be larger frames, too, which are hard to find for me in women's styles. Despite being on his own in a busy shop, Mario attended to everyone warmly and with interest, giving all of us unflaggingly good suggestions about what worked and what didn't. And he was honest - he won't you it's good if it's not. Important because, let's face it, when we're trying on frames, our eyesight for the most part isn't gonna give us the fidelity we need. He hooked me up with a pair I'm smitten with, and when I told him my vision benefits don't kick in for another two weeks, he insisted I not purchase them until later. What vendor does that, rather than urging the sale? When I pointed this out, he laughingly responded that he was a terrible businessman. I disagree - he's a relationship builder, and he's my new glasses vendor for the foreseeable future, and I feel fortunate for having found it. Needless to say, he did not charge me for fixing my glasses--though truth be told, I'm considerably less in love with them now, having seen his offerings, than I was when I walked in. Whew I don't even know where to start but the beginning: 1. The exam took a whole 7 minutes, didn't even check for my eye muscles. When I went to another doctor at Everett Clinic (totally recommend), the prescription was wrong. When I wrote that in my original review the owner said the doctor wasn't from the store but he just came to the store for exams and to leave him a bad review. Ok. 2. He told us to pay cash and not use our insurance (Premera) because we only got $150 in benefits and we should use it towards our lenses. So we did. Reader, this is wrong. We get an anual exam plus $150 towards lenses. Fool me once I suppose. 3. I went to Lens crafters to get new glasses. They told us our benefits were already used. So I call the insurance. Well, to my surprise Spex had filled for contacts and the exam. We didn't request any contacts. So we call and ask him to retract it. He said he did. 4. 9 months later I get a bill from the hospital where I got my second exam saying the insurance rejected the claim because I had already used my exam benefits. 5. I call spex to try to solve this problem, nothing. Saying it was a fitting, we didn't get any fitting. And if we had, you told us we were paying cash to avoid losing benefits from our insurance. That's called scamming. I have given you multiple chances. You have constantly given the worst service I've ever received in my life. Long story short, if you'd like to get a wrong prescription and get scammed at the same time, I've got the place for you. read more

AMAZING SELECTION OF "LOVE MY GLASS FRAMES STYLE & COLOR" - AND A HELPFUL GUY WITH TASTE AND STYLE - where's my option for 10 stars? Small shop, a bit hard to find but worth getting there - Kitty Korner from Roosevelt Station - on SW corner of NE 65th St & Roosevelt Way NE tucked on the ground level of a 2-storey mini-mall with parking underground through the alley. An AMAZING array of chic frames and unlike the 10 other places I went, Mario knew his stock and importantly LISTENED to my several requirements and presented frames that were exactly what I asked for in several comparable styles. But then, the table top bloomed into what I can only call a bouquet with Mario adding more and more frames in colors and styles that looked fabulous on me and which I might not have picked on my own. Surprisingly they also met my basic requirements. BUT OF NOTE - Mario has a talent for suggesting frames that take into account your face shape and colors that you might not realize look great on you. All this is worth a lot. Mario's professionalism, positive attitude and wonderful style choices make shopping for frames an uplifting experience. If you have looked around you know that great pair of glasses has a price and Mario's prices are actually lower for the same level of great looks. Thank you, Mario! Stay away from this place. It's taken me over 2 months to receive my eyeglasses and I still haven't gotten them. After going to the store 6 times and numerous phone calls, Mario (manager) keeps assuring me the eyeglasses are on their way. He stated a couple of times that he mailed them (since I told him that i would no longer come to the store since he keeps promising they would be complete and they never are), and when I inquired that I haven't received them via mail, he tells me again that he's dropping them off for delivery. This has happened twice. I'm hoping the 3rd time he delivers as I plan to call him everyday until I get the eyeglasses or at least a refund and credit towards my frames as they were already purchased. I have absolutely NO IDEA why this place gets such glowing reviews. I was there literally just now (about 5:45 PM, 6/7/18) to inquire about their pricing for new prescription lenses for my sunglasses with broken lenses. The front desk person was an old, white lady with glasses and short hair. She began writing down prices of different lens options for me but shortly after another male customer walked in, she said hi to him and then left the front desk to go get him his glasses from the back room. I was in awe, how rude. She didnt even excuse herself to go help him first or asked if I was done, but I thought to myself fine it would probably be quick. Then when she came out she proceeded to put the glasses on him and started chatting with him instead of returning to her desk to finish up with me. I interrupted to ask a couple more questions, then the male customer eventually left and the lady FINALLY returned to the front desk after I told her she would need to look up my insurance information. She then entered my name and last 4 of SSN to find my benefits. But nothing popped up. I was confused cuz other few optometries were able to look me up with this info without any problems (most recently yesterday). I explained to her I do not have an ID # on my VSP plan because it was tied to my dental insurance. But for some reason she did NOT understand and said "oh, you know, I have a VSP plan too and i have an ID number."...... (me thinking to myself: err lady I just explained to you why there was no ID). Other optometrists I've been to all know in certain cases an ID number is not assigned and it's something they are familiar with, but this lady.... oh my. Was it that hard to understand what I just said? Last but not least, when she couldnt find me on the system she said she would call my insurance... BUT after she calls XXXX first. (!!!)..... ARE YOU SERIOUS. You freaking stopped helping me for another customer once and now you are gonna make another phone call when I've been standing in your store for you to help? She picked up the phone and dialed whoever she was calling right then and I was just standing there.... WTF.....If she was already on the phone before I went in, then that would have been absolutely understood. But I was there first, and you keep trying to do other things first. You are so terrible and inefficient at your job. This is one of the worst customer service experiences I ever had (worse 3 for sure). I said to her face she was rude and left the store. There is no way I want to do business with this place. No way. In terms of the frame selection, from looking around it's very, very sub-par. I want to say almost all the frames either look very outdated or look like it's for a grandma. Avoid at all cost. Do not support this business. read more
