I guess I'll try to go in order - booking on their website www.namafitness.com is super easy. They have an amazing mix of yoga, sculpt, barre-less barre, Pilates, and meditation classes with excellent descriptions of each class and its level. Booking could not be easier and check in at the studio is a breeze on the iPads at the front desk. The teachers are literally the BEST in Dallas! Several of them have won Best of Dallas awards for Yoga, Pilates, and Barre. They are soooo good! The atmosphere when you walk in is beautiful, warm, peaceful, stylish and welcoming. There are free lockers with locks to store your things and they offer free bottled water and towels. The studio is just beautiful. It's minimalist and zen with the most beautiful natural light that streams in softly through the white sheer curtains. They have an awesome sound system and the studio is a great size, holding a maximum of 12 students per class, so it is not overwhelming. Something that is so innovative and amazing about this place is that all classes are videoed and added to Nama's online video library. The monthly membership includes unlimited access to the online library so you can take your favorite class as many times as you want, try something new in the privacy of your home, or take class even when you're traveling. My husband and I have been working out at Crossfit Rockwall since 2011. It was one of the greatest…read moredecisions we ever made. The workouts are intense but scaled to each individual so everyone can do a Crossfit workout. The coaches at CFR are fantastic. They are all certified and really understand how to help each person do the best they can without pushing beyond what is safe. I have never been as fit as I am today and I am more motivated than I was the first day I walked in the door. Today, just about every workout facility follows a Crossfit type program, functional fitness, interval training etc. The difference with Crossfit and especially Crossfit Rockwall is the community. The people at CFR are fantastic, very supportive and make it something you look forward to. If you are looking for a place that will really make a difference in your fitness, this is it. They have free workouts two times a month. Come and give it a try.

I started working out at Crossfit Rockwall soon after it opened in 2009. I was there for about half…read morea year before I had to move away. I've worked out at a couple boxes since then and have dropped-in on boxes in various cities. Three years later, Crossfit Rockwall is still the standard that I compare other boxes to. The founders, Mary and Mike, are passionate about CrossFit and committed to helping people improve their fitness and health. I have yet to meet a CrossFit coach with more CrossFit certifications than Mary! She is very knowledgeable and encouraging. Before I started the Elements classes here, I would have never stepped into a gym. But shortly after, I was quickly hooked. The coaches eased me into the workouts as I had not exercised since high school! They were super encouraging and never compromised on proper technique and good form. I'm thankful to have started CrossFit here because they gave me a solid foundation in all the skills. CrossFit Rockwall is run professionally and aims to be suitable for everyone, regardless of age, gender, health, or fitness background. All the workouts are scalable to your level. They are different from other CrossFit boxes in that almost all of their workouts are written out in three levels: RX'd (for prime CrossFitters), intermediate, and beginner. All three levels practice the same skills but the repetitions and weights vary. The coaches also care about your safety; while they will encourage you to push yourself, there's no expectation to be extremely hard core. I appreciated this because that's not me. The gym membership costs more than a typical gym but less than personal training. It's like personal training in a group setting. I think the cost is completely worth it, and if I find myself in the Dallas area again, I would join up again immediately! The gym is clean and well-organized. There are no mirrors; or better yet, there are no guys doing bicep curls while admiring themselves in front of mirrors.

I first started out with the restorative yoga, which as Melissa C mentions is much slower paced (and I guess that's the point; so as to restore you). It was helpful in the sense that it got me out of my head for an hour, and I left feeling very relaxed and refreshed. Then I decided maybe the power yoga would give me more of a cardio workout, and it did! I was famished half way through, I think it's more for intermediate level. Right now I'm really enjoying the Beginner 1 classes. It goes through a good foundation of poses, and Jessica does well to balance more challenging variations with easier modifications, so you get to listen to your body and follow according to your individual needs. The forehead massage at the end with essential oils is a nice touch, haven't seen this at any other place. Overall if you're looking for a studio in Rockwall, I suggest going through some of the different classes offered here with various teachers, to find one that feels right for you. Right now, I'm so glad I found this place!

The only thing I wish is there was decor on the walls or windows in the studio so I could focus on something during practice. Other than that, I like the intimate size, changing rooms, clean bathrooms, ample waiting area, etc. I've only attended Beginner classes taught by Jessica, one of the owners. She's even keeled and knowledgable - the real deal. I like how her classes are never the same from day to day: Different parts of my body get worked on from class to class. (I've been to classes before where the teacher seemed to favor certain postures.) She's great at giving modifications if my body isn't willing to go "there" and tips for making a posture or stretch more challenging. I've come away sore from her class once (heavy on the abs). I usually leave feeling stretched out and relaxed. I suppose I'd like for mid-class to lead up to some sort of flow, more Sun Salutations perhaps - just for a few minutes - to get my heart going a bit more. Maybe there's another class I need to try for that. My favorite thing is the Savasana at the end. The studio I was a part of before practiced this for a good amount of time at the end of every practice, and I haven't been to one since that consistently did it for a good amount of time. Jessica does here and even gives a quick, relaxing forehead massage using essential oils. Yay for the human touch! I do miss the yoga-nidra practice from my last place, but I can do that myself now. Overall, I'm just happy to have found a real studio - not a random class at the Y, not that crazy hot yoga doesn't embody all that yoga is suppose to be, but true mind/body/spirit place.
