I never attended a regular class, so I can only review pt and the location itself. My trainer and I focused on endurance and strength training. We never did long distance running. Since I had little/no running experience it ended up being a bit of an experiment. We focused a lot on nutrition as well. One of our sessions was even at the Sprouts market. It sounds kind of silly but ended up being super helpful. I took part in the Whole 30 challenge during this time. The location isn't the best. My workouts were primarily at night, and since it got dark early after time change it made me a little nervous running at night. It's not well lit down that street. I ended up asking Niki to go through and watch me run on the other side of the building for safety. I always felt encouraged and supported by the trainers and other cfers. There's lots of excitement built up around the CF community and my experience here coincided.

Teacher training at TwistedBodies is unlike anywhere else. Before I even registered, Carissa took…read morethe time to sit down and talk with me about my goals, and give me reasonable career expectations. Each TT I've attended has included a functional anatomy emphasis, as well as anatomical terms and positions to accurate detail posture analyses and exercise positions. We cover special populations, and how to modify for just about anybody! Of course we also study the history of Pilates, so we can understand the root purpose of the exercises and why they're so important. Every training has gone step by step through the study materials, followed immediately by practicing the exercises and poses, and time for questions and workshopping. On the last day, we review the material to be tested on to make sure each student feels prepared and knows what might be left to study before a written exam. There are lots of opportunities for practice teaching in the courses themselves, and then afterwards with student teaching hours and shadow teaching. I've never learned anything in a teacher training that didn't help me at some point while teaching a group class or a private session, and each training I've walked away with at least one lesson plan ready to go already. After training, it's really only the beginning though. Carissa & Khristen are basically always available for questions about teaching techniques, anatomy, reviewing exercises- or anything movement based I can come up with! They always have very thoughtful answers and recommendations for further self-study. I've also asked countless business-related questions that they've been a trustworthy source for. They cultivate an environment of humility and learning within their studio, so you always feel welcome to ask other instructors about their experiences as well. If it weren't for TwistedBodies, I doubt I'd be a Yoga & Pilates instructor at all- let alone be building my career in this field. I don't think I'd even know it was possible.

So, I have gotten into the habit lately of hitting up a yoga class of some sort in the evenings…read moreafter a long day at work, and before teaching my class in the early mornings. Thankfully, ClassPass has made this so much easier to switch it UP! As a part time fitness instructor with a very strong routine, I constantly find myself craving variety. This place has been on my hit list for a while and I was so happy to be able to finally go last night! And boy, am I glad I did. I tried the hot vinyasa class with Lesa and it was 60 minutes of hot and sweaty bliss. The room was packed and the VYBE was jumping! I was warmly greeted and even though I arrived a few minutes before class Lesa greeted me happily and showed me the ropes. They have towels and water/beverages for purchase. BYO yoga mat but they have those as well. The salt lamps in the studio were a beautiful touch and so were the essential oils. I parked my mat pretty close to the diffuser so I was LOVING the aromatherapy while I got my yoga on. Lesa's class was a booty kicker but she also broke it down and provided modifiers for those of us who aren't so limber but aspire to be (raises hand). Blame my tight endurance athlete hamstrings. At the end of the 60 minutes they provide you with essential oil infused cold towels. The Lakeside area is the perfect location, surrounded by luxury living as well as an abundance of retail shops. The community seems very tight knit here as well. Thankful I was able to come here and cannot wait to use my ClassPass to return for another hot class soon and very soon!!
