Loved!!! I ordered…read morethe pastrami gumbo for lunch on a hectic afternoon and it was the perfect blend of Jewish food and southern cuisine. It's unique and unexpected, and I really enjoyed it. I also got a package of chocolate rugelach. They were so delicious, reminded me of my Bubbi's. They've now moved to City Kitch - which is a ghost kitchen in Wesley Heights. It was a cool setup. You can order online or at the kitchen and wait. I ordered online and walked over, and it was so easy to pick up the food! Plenty of parking if you need it. Anyway, I'm glad Meshugganah is here, bonus points that I can walk to pick up on nice days. I hope they expand the menu and look forward to enjoying again soon!

I loved Rob Clement when he was at The Porters House, so when he started a Jewish Deli popup…read more(something Charlotte desperately needs), I was in. Covid-19: all ordering and payment can be done online. You select a pickup time too. I'm not sure if he was running behind when I was there, but I still had to wait about 30 minutes for my food. Ordinarily, this wouldn't bother me. I really don't like being inside with other people during the pandemic though, so my only feedback would be to figure out a system so that people can just run in and grab their food. Onto the food... The menu is different at each popup. We got pastrami sandwiches and matzo ball soup. This was the best pastrami I've ever had. It was so fatty and thick. The rye bread he uses from Verdant Bread is delicious. The mustard is perfect. I will say, I'm not sure how to eat it as a sandwich. There is so much meat and the bread isn't sturdy so it kind of fell apart. A messy sandwich doesn't bother me though as long as it's delicious (and this one was). I'm sad I missed his Latkes for Chanukah and am excited to see what else he brings to Charlotte at future popups!

I found Helen's Hot Chicken & Seafood on TikTok and decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did!…read more This is a family-owned business, and everything is cooked to order, so expect a little wait--but it's worth it for fresh food. We ordered the catfish, whiting, chicken, and a kids' chicken tender meal. For sides, we tried the okra, potato salad, and fries. The standout for me was the catfish with the mild seasoning. The flavor was excellent and perfectly balanced. I couldn't taste the seasoning quite as much on the chicken, but it was still good. We also tried the Hot Honey sauce, which added a nice sweet-and-spicy kick. The sides were decent, the portions were satisfying, and the prices were very reasonable. I also noticed they offer daily specials, which is a nice bonus. Overall, a solid spot for fresh seafood and chicken, friendly family-business vibes, and good value.

I noticed this place about 6 months ago and this is the first time I have stopped in…read more I asked "what's good?" and every else waiting for their food said, "everything"! That's a good sign to say the least. I ordered a chicken tender combo meal to try this place out since everything's good ! I got it hot with fries and a drink. The chicken was great with the homemade ranch dressing. It had just enough heat and yet still great flavor. I took my last chicken finer to my son and it was at the peak of his heat tolerance but he still really enjoyed it. Next time I want to try the seafood. Only downside is the deep fryer smell that lingered in my clothes after being in the restaurant. I think next time I will call ahead and limit my time on the restaurant. With that said, everyone was very friendly from the staff to the customers. Helen's know how to fry up some goodness. O
