From the minute I walked into the lobby for checkin, I felt the warm cozy vibe of the Hotel Teatro. I checked in the week before Christmas in town on a quick business trip. The lobby has a wine/coffee bar with a library style, high ceiling lounge with comfortable seating and a warm fireplace. The Christmas tree was in the entrance foyer that helped make the seasonal experience. The hotel is connected to The Nickel restaurant and was a nice option for meals while I was in town. I ate twice here and left a separate outstanding review for them. My room was a very comfortable. I slept well on the King size bed and the rain style shower was awesome. The room also came with a tub and the hotel provided bath salts and bath ball for soaking. Normally, I would pass, but it was too good to not take advantage of. It was extremely relaxing. All in all, I am looking forward to my next trip to Denver and bringing the Mrs. We will most definitely stay at the Hotel Teatro when we do. Until next time, Cheers! read more

Staying at the Hotel Teatro was a mistake we won't make twice. We were created by the friendly staff and checked in and offered a prosecco or soda. That was great and I highly recommend the prickly pear soda. They are walkable to a lot of restaurants and the opera house, and also offer car service within 2 miles. Very handy. But that's where the good ends for me. Our room was tucked up behind the elevators among a bunch of weird little stairs, like the most unimpressive Escher painting. It was very dark with only 2 lamps and 2 bedside lights. We could have opened the wall of windows, but because the doors and windows were not properly sealed, the only way to keep the freezing cold air rushing in was to keep the blackout curtains closed. The heat worked well, but cycled frequently and was very loud. The intake is next to the bed, so it disrupted our sleep. The fitness center was sad. There was one treadmill, one bike, one elliptical, and one weight bench, which is fine, but only 5-12 lb and 25-50lb weights (nothing between). Also, it was 82 degrees and there is no cold water available. It does not appear to have been swept or vacuumed in weeks. I used one of 2 beat up mats and from the ground could really see the filth. At check in, we were given a wooden nickel ($10 credit) for each night and told we could use it in the hotel restaurant, The Nickel. They only offer breakfast in Saturday and Sunday, so we went our 2nd day. I got the shakshuka, and when it arrived there were 2 poached eggs on top, not cooked in the sauce. NBD until I took a bite and all the sauce was room temp, as though it has just come out of a jar. There were areas slightly above room temperature, like it had been under a heat lamp. Wildly disappointing. My BF thought his avocado toast was pretty basic for the price. We tried to spend our last wooden nickel that night, getting a drink there, and were told it was only good in the other lounge area, which is odd since we both heard them tell us the nickel was for the Nickel. We ended up paying $42 for 2 small apps (a single croquette and 3 tiny gourges) and a glass of wine. I wouldn't have gotten anything but we wanted to burn the credit and BF wanted a snack with his wine. So we paid full price. Overall, very expensive for what it was. This is a 3-star hotel on it's best day, and someone needs to investigate the kitchen. We also feel deceived about the daily credit. read more

Had some family staying here and they said the rooms were not great and wouldn't book here again. Not sure why the Christmas tree takes up half of the lobby mid January. Staying here for 2 nights although I wish it was only one. Front desk staff are great but this hotel needs some attention. From the minute we pull up--no bell service---we unloaded all 5 of our bags that was the start. I am a frequent business traveler and I can tell you I would not stay here again. Very old property that the AC can't keep up with on hot days. Our room never got below 73 degrees and because the hotel was sold out--they had to put a portable AC unit in???? The property is historic but worn and I'm just being real--like I said the front desk staff tries hard to accommodate but the property needs some work. The toilets wake you up at every flush--they literally sound like a fighter jet when you flush. The hotel restaurant and bar are very nice--however don't expect to get a drink before 4 pm on a Saturday as they are not open. All in all--you get what you pay for and I would like to say on my next trip to Denver--I would certainly look elsewhere. read more

A horribly tired old relic in need of serious repair. Had to move from a room where the toilet would not flush. Yuck! Moved to another room where the sink would not drain and paint was peeling from the ceiling onto the floor. Yuck! Worn carpet, doors with paint gone from years of use, threshold with worn bare wood, tired furniture, the list goes on. Yuck! This dog should be closed for a complete remodel, stay elsewhere. read more

A girlfriend and I stayed here for the weekend and we're obsessed. Valet parking is incredibly convenient and we even made a late-night Buc-ee's run and were able to call ahead to have our rental waiting for us when we were ready to head out. The reservation also includes amenities such as free use of vintage bikes that the hotel has available for guests and welcome drinks from the connected bar. I would absolutely stay here again based on the hotel itself. My favorite thing about the accommodations was the soaking tub. I very rarely take the time to soak in a tub, so this vacation called for a bath bomb. My only complaint about the room was the fact that our trash next to the desk in the room had not been emptied out upon our arrival, but there was nothing disturbing in the trash so I didn't make a fuss. We were lucky enough to get a corner room and had a nice view of the city from our room. I wish we had the time to stay there longer to take advantage of the free bike rentals and explore the city more. read more

I would've given this place 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact that their shuttle service was non-existent. It's like they dangle it in front of you and take it away. Tried for the shuttle twice and both times even though it was available the driver was too busy with valet service. Other than that, the people working the front were super friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The room was large enough to be comfortable inside, and the bathroom was too. I liked how they gave you an option of using a bathtub or a stand-up shower that is by each other, side by side. The television didn't work at certain times, which was strange. But the room was clean, and even with light housekeeping, it was fully made up. The hotel is walking distance to Larimer Square, Union Station, Ball Arena, and Coors Field. I would suggest this place to stay at if you're ever in the area. read more

Great location, lobby smells delightful, and the service members at the front were always very welcoming. But that's about where it ends. The actual rooms are small, and consistently 75 degrees in the heat of summer. The shower is equally small with inconsistent temperature. Despite the price tag, you only receive room service upon request. We tried to have wine In the "study" one evening and were told to go to the restaurant instead because they weren't serving in that area. The hotel is beautiful, but after sleeping on top of the sheets each night and mediocre rooms. I will look elsewhere in the future. read more

Stayed for the first time this last week. Beautiful lobby area for relaxing (smelled beautiful as well). The room was fabulous - huge beautiful windows to the street, comfy bed and pillows, deep soaking tub, waterfall shower with great water pressure, very nice shampoo/conditioner/lotion. Had room service from The Nickel and it was delicious. Complimentary breakfast burritos were yummy. Overnight valet was $59 but convenient as the theater nearby opened the night I arrived. The second night I was able to park in a nearby garage for about half the price - which the valet attendant told me about. Easy walking distance to Larimer Square and 16th Street Mall. Had the best time and will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Denver. read more

This was a unique hotel that we were really looking forward to trying. Front desk manager Matthew was as great as everybody says he is. Friendly, funny, helpful. We got checked in a little bit early which was nice and the rooms are adorable. I love when there is a shower and a bathtub separate from one another. We ate at the Nickel at least three or four times and had a great experience each time, The food was good and service was super friendly. They seemed a little understaffed but it didn't affect the quality at all. Had room service the first night but we were disappointed the next morning when we couldn't receive it. Not a big deal, stuff happens :-) I will say the elevator is a little slow but it adds to the charm, after all it is an old building. If you are in that much of a hurry you can always take the stairs Can't believe I forgot to take advantage of the shuttle service and the daily happy hour! Just another reason to go back again :-) Highly recommend. read more

I stayed here for work recently, and this was a comfortable place to stay close to work. The bellhops were cool with opening the doors and greeting me upon walking in, so that was a nice experience that I'm not used to. Same goes for pressing the button to get to the elevator and opening the doors when we'd leave the building. They were on it. The check-in process was easy with obtaining the room keycard, and I had no problems with getting into my room and settling in. We also have a daily allowance of two bottles of water along with two $10 meal vouchers per day. You can't use both vouchers at one meal, but it did definitely help with getting things like a breakfast burrito or pop tart. The gym has a handy water dispenser with cold water, and I'm glad I was able to get workouts in before handling the rest of the day. I knock off one star since both the sink and the bathtub drained incredibly slowly. Even with the drain plug open in the shower, the water height was above my ankles. The last piece was the air/fan. I like feeling a fan since it helps me fall asleep super quickly, and it felt like all I could do was set the temperature, and there really wasn't any air that felt like it circulated in the room. Overall, it was a fairly pleasant stay, and I will consider this hotel again if I have to come back to Denver again for work. It is downtown, so you'll have outside noise which I don't mind at all. HVAC didn't work. Hotel know there was a problem but didn't alert guests. I had to switch rooms and the second room was also broken. Elevator also stuck with me in it??? Was a tad scary. Hotel website took me to a third party for booking and i still haven't been able to get a receipt for my business expense. and then there were so many fees on top of that by the hotel that the bill ends up being almost 400/night. For a stuffy room with no air ventilation. Can't recommend. No regular housekerpong. Few amenities. Bar and restaurant have strange hours and weren't open for the days i was in town (sun/mon/tues). And nothing else is open in downtown Denver in Sunday nights either. Very odd stay. Definitely not worth the cost. read more

There is a restaurant in the hotel that was absolutely delicious. The service was top notch and helpful with local spots and provided information for transportation ie. I recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. First off, there was no light above the toilet, the make up mirror in the bathroom was aldo not working. The shower door didn't close properly, which led to water spilling all over the bathroom floor. We also had an empty box of tissues which felt like an oversight. The staff was another letdown--unhelpful and had a "Dont bother me" attitude. The valet guy in the morning was the only friendly and helpful staff member. The front desk staff in the afternoon was very ununprofessional, the valet guy in the afterafternoon could not be bothered when u asked at 6:30p.m if the car was available he said no I am.actually parking it now. The room was a decent size, the TV worked half the time. thankfully we were only here dor one night. Overall, this hotel did not meet basic expectations for comfort and service, and I would not recommend staying here based on my experience. read more

Couldn't get to our valet parking due to private party took all valet parking spaces for the entire evening. Hotel Teatro is absolutely stunning. Just beautiful! Notable architecture with a splash of modern to glam the place up. The lobby is remarkable. You just have to see it the photos online does it no justice. The front desk staff was super attentive and personable which I love because it truly made my stay a breeze. Check in was smooth no issues I was in and in my room within 10 mins. My room was perfect for the occasion, I got one of the petite rooms but it was just me and I was barely there but the room was super cozy. But they do offer a variety of layouts. The bed was comfy I wasted no time snuggling up for a nap after a long flight. My room had amazing natural light that kept the room fairly warm on cold days. I was never able to dine at the onsite restaurant due to it either being closed or packed so I cant to much speak on it but Larimer Square and several other eateries at located within in walking distance. The WIFI is trash and I was there for work for that really didn't work for me. But not a deal breaker I would for sure come back to stay just not for a work trip. Parking, UGHHH! Valet is a INSANEE! $50 per night. But I read reviews prior to going and I must say it easily costed me $10 per day to park across the street. Just a heads up.. if you have to leave the hotel super early in the morning like I did, the doors will be locked but someone will be near by to unlocked them for you. Can't recommend Hotel Teatro in Denver. Just spent two nights there and the complimentary breakfast burritos are normally 30-minutes later than advertised, the complimentary car was not available the two times I asked for it (something about a demonstration and 7:00AM was too early for a ride to the train station), room HVAC was noisy, it's on a noisy street (emergency vehicles and revelers) and don't get a room in the corner by the trash cans, unless you like being rudely awakened at 6:00AM. The best thing it has going for it is the location, The location is indeed ideal if you are staying in the Downtown area - this is right near Larimer and the Convention center. The place touts it self as being a historic building.....it does have a nice aesthetic front he outside and the lobby area - however once you are up in the rooms - it is painfully aware that it is a 100+ yr old building trying to act like a modern hotel. The rooms are quite obviously the original size (Small) rooms that have never been readdressed for modernization. The bathroom in the room I was in was retro fitted for a long counter that just did not quite fit because the doors nearly hit it and caused you to have to squeeze out. The lighting is extremely poor int he room that I was in and there were stains all over the carpet (Blood? Wine? - I have no idea, but I did not get the vibe of cleanliness). I was only her for a few nights, but on check out - I waited Ed by the checkout counter for close to 25 min before someone actually could help me. there was a service staff that passed by at about the 15 minute mark that I asked if there was someone - they said they would call someone.,.......20 min later before someone actually came by......apparently the desk person was on lunch or a break for some type.....so I guess they don't;t have someone relieve them???? Instead they just make guests wait. I'll avoid this place in the future. read more

Such a great location, but this hotel is falling apart! They no longer park your car. They don't have any amenities in the bathrooms. They don't have enough light in the rooms--I got a suite on the top floor--to read, or work, or even put on makeup. They have a low light lamp by each bed and that's it. No overhead lights at all. They have turned the A/C to 80 degrees. Good luck sleeping. Since they no longer give you pods for the coffee maker in the room, or snacks, or anything, they have a large pot in the lobby. I just went down in my bathrobe. The pot is empty and there are so many people at the front desk asking for refunds to move to the 4 seasons across the street that I can't get anyone's attention about no coffee. UUGGHH. They have a horrid manager named Kevin and he will treat you like you are crap and he is God. I guess I need a new hotel near the theaters, for Denver. And yes...they still charge for amenities--they just don't have any. read more

Teatro used to be my favorite hotel in Denver. I will never stay here again. The bathroom in my room is tiny, cramped, and has no fan or amenities. Apparently if you want the room pictured when you book on the website you must specifically request you want the specific amenities pictured. Of course I can't even downgrade to a cheaper room with even better amenities because the place is booked. The fees have gone up, hospitality has gone down, and the A/C sucks. Wonderful staycation at Hotel Teatro!! I can imagine this being a great spot for tourists. The service was wonderful from start to finish and the guy from the front desk never failed to make us laugh with the jokes and made something as trivial as asking for toothpastes to be delivered to our room a fun time! Very positive and welcoming service. They even helped us with getting us seated at The Nickel since no one was helping us there! The room itself was very nice. My friend really enjoyed the bathtub and I thought the shower was refreshing. Everything seemed so clean and spacious. Great experience! read more

A beautiful hotel with beautiful architectural features in downtown Denver. We used their Nickel Room for a meeting and catered from the restaurant. The rooms are stunning and very comfortable. The lobby of the hotel is charming for coffee and a meeting. Arrival before 12 noon is considered early arrival and a fee of $51 is applied. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Took an Uber to have coffee here. Yelp, Apple and Google all indicate it is open 24 hours. Upon arriving at 2:53pm, we were told coffee service stopped at 3pm. We indicated that it was not 3pm yet but the "barista" said all the machines were already "off" and she was leaving for the day. We used Hotel Teatro for our wedding block and had a great experience. We worked with Belle and she really went above and beyond for us. Seriously, I was emailing this woman for a year changing reservations and she was always responsive and able to help me. When it came time for our wedding weekend my fiancé and I were upgraded to their presidential suite which made getting ready with my bridesmaids so much more comfortable! They brought my fiancé and I chocolate covered strawberries and champagne! And they even had a special parents of the bride basket for my parents which I thought was a very nice touch. Belle also helped our photographer reserve the front room for a little bit on our wedding day so we could do first looks and private vows and I love the pictures from that, it's a beautiful room. Great location too, walking distance down to Larimer or over to Sam's No 3 (I think every one of our wedding guests went there at some point) and a quick walk up to Rock Bottom too. They could not have been more accommodating, i can't recommend this hotel enough! read more

This is the place to be if you want the best service and most amazing venue for your event. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the staff is second to none! From the moment we met Jessica in Sales, we knew this is where we wanted to be! The servers & bartender for the wedding (Saleem, Maiah, Morgan as well as Taylor the food and beverage director) all treated us like royalty and family all at the same time. There was nothing they couldn't make happen, all while having the sweetest attitudes and biggest hearts! The front desk team we encountered (Matthew, Natalie, Ricci, and Beth) went above and beyond in helping us with every single need and detail for the wedding. Matthew even helped us find food on Christmas night when everything was closed. He also went to a nearby store to get some ginger ale when I wasn't feeling well. Every one of the guys working in valet were also incredibly helpful each and every time we left and arrived back on property. I have never been more impressed with a group of individuals who truly all functioned as a unified family. We were incredibly honored to have our daughter's wedding here and can't wait to visit again when in the area! read more

Loved our stay last weekend! Great staff! Room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is full of history and modern at the same time. Huge windows and high ceilings let in a ton of light. The restaurant/bar is right out of a movie. Food was delicious and a great wine list. A cozy parlor type of room with a wall of book shelves encompassing a fireplace opposite of the front desk.
